Title: What has your home state contributed to TPIR?
Post by: silverice878 on April 14, 2017, 04:57:45 PM
For North Carolina (my home state), we've given TPIR Carson's Of High Point, Thomasville, Broyhill, Bemco, Carolina Chair and Hatteras Hammocks. I'm curious as to products/prizes that your home state has had offered on TPIR?

My home state is New York, but I'm from Buffalo. My hometown area alone has given TPiR Mazia's Pizza and trips to Niagara Falls.

EDIT: I see that a trip to Rochester (Lake Ontario) was a prize in Do the Math this season: http://www.newyorkupstate.com/articles/19202063/price_is_right_contestant_wins_5-night_vacation_to_rochester_video.amp

Pennsylvania: various trips to Philadelphia over the years, of course...but more importantly original TPiR host Bill Cullen, who was born in Pittsburgh (which is also my hometown).

I think they offer Poconos trips semi-frequently. Or at least they did in the not-too-distant past.

RI has had a few trips to it over the years, with one last season to Providence. There's been some to Newport in the long past if memory serves, nice place for its lovely 'summer cottages' (mansions), and Tennis HOF. What better to go with your trips than American Tourister luggage? RI as well. Games don't show up as much as they used to for prizes, but Hasbro has HQ here, so there's that for the non-trip department. But hey, you think RI, we're the Ocean State, so surely something on that front, right? Yep, that'd be the WaterRower company for WaterRowers, which don't show up often, granted, but I know they've been offered in the past few seasons.

By those employed by the show, in a historic sense? We're also the home state of one Claudia Jordan.

Did they ever offer trips to the NFF?

My state has contributed Microsoft Surface tablets, Windows in general, and I'd imagine like the Wii and games, as my state is also home to Nintendo of America.

South Carolina has been featured in numerous trips to Hilton Head and Kiawah Island, as well as a few Pawleys Island Rope Hammocks.  There were also at least two trips to my hometown of Myrtle Beach.

Oh, and Vanna White was a contestant. Does that count??

From my home state of Maine, I've seen Old Town canoes offered before.

Of course, with Maine being nicknamed "Vacationland", Price had offered a few trips there.

I moved the topic to The Talk is Right because we are talking about the actual show.

As an aside, I am liking how the show is offering trips to so many various parts of the U.S.A. I've always been for seeing the different parts of the beautiful United States, and it's nice to see the show offering trips to great places that many people wouldn't think to travel to.

I think Iowa has just contributed grocery products back in the day.  Rath hams and bacon, Iowa pork, etc.

I live in Colorado now.  The show has offered many trips here.

We also have former staffer Jeff Thisted who was born, and went to grade school in Brunswick. He is remembered to Price fans as proposing to former model Rebecca Mary Pribonic on camera.

Not sure how anyone from PA could forget the trip to Punxsatawney that they offered on Groundhog Day in Season 37...unless you were trying to. :P

(For anyone not from around here...unless you want to head way up to Bennezette to see the Elk Viewing Center, there's not really anything in Punxsy that makes it worth a vacation.)

hello all.  I live in Oklahoma.  I don't think that they have given away trips to Oklahoma City or Tulsa.

But during Season 36, they have given away Frankoma Pottery & Dishes.
The Frankoma Pottery & Dishes were from my home city of Sapulpa, OK.

Did not know Vanna was a SC resident! If Roger had got his wish and had Mark Wahlberg as the new TPIR host, then a SC native would have hosted (Florence, SC)

Yep, they had that trip to "Minneapolis" (*cough* Bloomington *cough*) a few times, along with a showcase featuring a trip to see the MLB All-Star Game at Target Field.

Back when they gave away Ford Rangers, those were built here in St. Paul a few miles away from me.

Being from Ohio, and specifically the Girard/Niles area, we contributed the lovely Kathleen Bradley. On one trip to a taping in 1998, I was fortunate enough to meet her and her parents. They remembered seeing me in one of the local restaurants we both frequented, I just never knew who they were.

Around season 32-33 the show gave supplies of Eli's Cheesecake as prizes a few times. I remember there was an episode that one of the models seemed to get mesmerized by the cheesecakes on display!

I currently live in Massachusetts, so the occasional trip to Boston, Cape Cod, Plymouth, Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket definitely counts. I watched a 1975 episode with a New Bedford, MA trip in the showcases.

iRobot, which makes those robotic vacuum cleaners, has its corporate offices in Bedford, MA.

The show offered Milton Bradley games at various points in the past (and the company made the home games in the 1970s and 1986). Those were from Springfield, MA.

Ocean Spray has its offices in Middleborough, MA and they harvest from cranberry bogs nearby.

I believe we've seen Necco candies at some point on the show, those are from Revere, MA.

Cape Cod Cranberry Dry Soda is made by Polar Beverages in Worcester, MA.

I previously lived in Connecticut and New Hampshire. Other than the occasional trip to either state, I don't think anything like Pez Dispensers and Wiffle Balls/Bats (which are from CT) or Timberland clothing (which is from NH) have been offered.

LA-Z-Boy furniture is in Monroe and Whirlpool in Benton Harbor.

Kellogg's cereal from Battle Creek.

I'm sure there is plenty more.

Washington has provided trips to Seattle and the San Juan Islands.

Oberto beef jerky is here too, but I can't remember if that's been used in any of the grocery pricing games or not.
