In honor of the 12th season starting tonight, I thought I'd put this up.
I picked Kelly Clarkson because I really don't know what any of the other winners are doing now. :-)

American Idol Producer #2: LETZ DU ITZORZ. :P
I've always liked Jordan Sparks. All of her hits were pretty darn good, and it's a shame her career was so short.

I really like Kelly Clarkson's songs, and that's saying something, because except for very few exceptions, I only like singers and bands from the '60s and '70s (oldies).

My vote goes to the one who got me interested in country music in the first place, Miss Carrie Underwood. There's a reason why I have all four of her albums (all of them actually worth every penny, IMO). She's that awesome!

I still have this feeling that no matter how many times the rules get changed these days, someone extremely talented will always get beaten by a less talented guy with a guitar, an "aw-shucks" attitude and a cute face. Teenage/tween girls control the vote and they will always pick the cute boy over anything.
That being said, I actually like Taylor from season 5 winner-wise. I really gravitated towards him and he is a great entertainer - he is doing a residency in Las Vegas right now (the place where he initially auditioned) and he seems to be quite at home there

I voted for Fantasia.
Based on what I've watched tonight, the judges are more interested in being divas than judging musical talent, and are letting everybody through. Simon wouldn't have kissed up to contestants, he would have told the truth. Let this be the last season of this mess, which is nothing more than a popularity contest now.

Ratings are in for last night's first show: It scored a total of 17.9 million viewers, which is still pretty good. However, it was down 4 million viewers from last year, and it was the lowest-rated debut since Season 1.

I go with Kelly........She was one of the winners that really gained success, next to Carrie Underwood. I might steer away from this season, mostly because the majority of those who vote will eventually pick some dude that can play guitar.................Again. It has happened ever since Season 7 and I bet you it will happen again.

Kelly Clarkson with Fantasia as a close second, only because Barrino's personal life is quite puzzling right now.
I have never watched American Idol nor will I ever have any intent to. My selections are based on the songs I have heard by the winners.
Quite frankly, Jennifer Hudson was the best contestant on the show, but that's a whole other argument.

Couldn't you replace the above two names with the woman known as the "Ice Queen" around Television City, the ever-venerable Cecile Frot-Coutaz? (Wasn't she ultimately responsible for firing Roger?)
