First things first... if anyone was confused about Drew's "rugged" comment in L7...

...yes, they had to edit this out because of the other crap going on in the first half. Now this show did turn out pretty damn good - car sweep, pretty fair setups, didn't mind stuff surrounding Gwen at all and Kenny did SC1 nicely... but you had to get by Bag, which was a real trainwreck. Bad gameplay aside... seriously, a Mr. Eyecandy, really? Not even a mention of who he is at all. This is why guests infiltrating PGs really needs to die out, just have Florence present SC2 (properly introduced, that was weird how she just started right away) and get rid of Mr. Eyecandy, who didn't even know the Ford Escape on neutral does need to be braked. They are lucky Bag had its shortest playing or I bet major complaints would have come out of the editing on this one - even with the crash edited out, L7 timed out to about the average 10C playing.

Only other thing was X... I am glad it isn't predictably middle anymore. But boy, it's just one of those hold-em-up bars, there shouldn't have been any confusion there.

A decent special show today with 4/6, 2 $1,000 wins on the wheel and a great L7 win. We could have done without Johannes, I think, the games and contestants are the real "eye candy" of TPIR in my opinion. Didn't mind Florence Henderson though.

IITB: NOT played well at all.

CoG: A toss-up, but at least the NYC trip was won.

L7: By far, the easiest playing of the season to date! Too bad Johannes' car wreck's relegated to YouTube...

SX: I don't quite understand how the first SP was missed instead of the second one.

OWP: I would've lost w/ the jewelry; I personally thought it was cheaper.

MG: A fair setup, but it was won backwards anyway!

SCSDs: HOW ABOUT THIS- BOTH OF TODAY'S CAR-WINNING TEAMS WON $1K!!!

Showcases: When The Grosses made their bid on the Michael Kors shoes for a year/Lexus convertible Showcase, I KNEW THEY WERE GOING TO BE THE SECOND-BIGGEST WINNERS THIS WEEK!!!!! IMHO, this was the best week of "Price" this season, but this definitely wasn't my week for predicting where a previously won PG car would appear during the credits, as I got all three of my predictions wrong:

Monday: Sonata behind Door #3 w/ The Big Wheel in the background (Actual location: Door #2 w/ the BMW 128i; no TBW reappearance whatsoever)
Yesterday: Tacoma behind Door #2 w/ the Bayliner Bowrider (Actual location: Door #1)
Today: Escape behind Door #2 to replace the trip monitors (Actual location: Door #1)

I have NO confidence about next week's episodes, but as we've seen recently, anything can happen.

This show was actually a really good one, but probably not for the reasons they thought it was. It was nice to have the spirit of Mother's Day in the air, and who could think of a more perfect guest for this day than Flo, but they were overused, especially the dumb inclusion of "Mr. Eyecandy". And having a guest drive the L7 car probably isn't the greatest idea, as you saw. :) Still, this show was great because the mothers got their day and the setups were actually very fair. I wish they could be like this on every special show. Bag was still pretty hard, but it was really the only hard game of the day so that's fine. L7's easiness in particular came out of nowhere - was nice to see even that easy setup turn dramatic with a gutsy "8" on the 4th number.

You know, if you're going to bother to bring Bargain Game back, you should maybe not start off by giving it a 2 week break....

Mike really got burned in the SCs today by that willy on the trips. If the budget appears demolished in the future, we can definitely blame the three 22k+ cars all won on this show! Still, cool to see a couple get two cars the hard way!

I do like getting the models' families involved in the show when appropriate, like today. It leads to the feeling of TPIR being a big family that was lost in the later Barker days. And Kenny isn't all that bad at showcase announcing, either! I thought the showcases were both presented well today (although that 2nd SC really needed a third prize).

Timings:
It's In The Bag (6.5) - 5:57
Coming Or Going (3.5) - 3:22
Lucky $even (4.5) - 5:48
Secret X (4.5) - 4:11
One Wrong Price (3.5) - 3:23
Money Game (4.5) - 3:48
Total (27): 25:29

Nice dramatic win in Lucky $even today, and I always like it when someone, inadvertently or otherwise, gets the last two digits in Money Game correct first.  :-)

Today's show had alot of wins today. I hope it don't affect the budget mode for next week. And we coulda had a 5 for 6 show had Sharice and Ryan got both GP's right.

Well, this is a first: A holiday-themed show that's actually...........................good .

It's In The Bag: Did Laura and Nikki really think that a bag of Starbucks coffee was gonna cost $16.00? Best they got bumped by a dime on the big wheel from Emily and Virgil for that boneheaded move. Speaking of Emily and Virgil.................

Coming or Going: That was well-played!

Lucky Seven: Michelle and Emily finally picked 5 as the last number...........Hallelujah!!  :-D And not only that, they also won $1000 on the big wheel and a Lexus on their showcase!

Secret X: Seems a little mean to put the secret X on top, but that's just me. If Sharice and Ryan got that balance bar right, then they might had a chance.

OWP: I thought it was cute for Gwen to let her son model on the washer and dryer. Good thing Debbie and Bryan picked that for the win!

Money Game: Well, here's something that I thought was new: Patricia and Abby picked the back numbers (30) first and getting right............Then getting the front numbers (22) right, too! Unfortunately, they didn't win their SC, but they did got $1000 on the wheel.

When it comes to holiday shows, they tend to be nothing more than Mike's way to screw contestants over and makes it totally lame and boring at the same time.............Not today.

Despite 2 losses, today was pretty enjoyable and it was good that Florence Henderson (Carol Brady) was the guest today! However, ANOTHER male model??? Seriously, Mike? I'm willing to let the heavy rotation of Daniel Goddard slide, but Mike...............come on. Still, a great way to end the week!

There really something wrong with the show when the funniest moment of the day, and a potential all-timer, needs to be edited out.

Love Gwen's son asking "how do they win?".  Sometimes we ask the same thing, kid.

Was anyone else totally disturbed by Florence modeling groceries during It's in the Bag?

I think I bought one of those claw-gloves at Halloween Adventure last year.

It's In The Bag:  Not very well played.  I can't remember the last time someone got the second bag wrong.
Coming Or Going, One Wrong Price:  Nice wins! :-)
Lucky Seven:  What a great win!  I thought for sure Michelle & Emily were gonna lose when they said 5 for the last number because car prices don't end with a 5 too often anymore.
Secret X:  Evil IMO.
Money Game:  An unusual win, but a nice one! :-)

Good end to the week, IMHO.

I forgot that Sunday is Mother's Day.  No wonder my mother called me earlier this week, hinting about wanting a Baskin-Robbins ice cream cake.  But if she wants an ice cream cake from me, she'll have to wait until after my birthday.  I'm off to Ohio tomorrow morning and I'm not coming back to Kentucky until Thursday.

I know Starbucks is overpriced, but I knew it wasn't gonna be that overpriced.  I think Nikki and Lora may be the first contestants in a long time not to think that allergy relief was the most expensive product on the counter.

Were there enough cameos in this episode?  Florence, Kenny, Kenny and Gwennie's son, and this Johannes guy I've never heard of.  It's not as bad as Daniel Goddard or Jack Wagner, but too many cooks do spoil the broth.

I cannot believe that Lucky $even was actually winnable today.

I cannot believe that Double Prices has been absent for two consecutive weeks.

It doesn't happen very often, but that's certainly one way to win Money Game.

My showcase bids:
Tripcase--$22,107
Lexus--$40,107

Well, nothing really crazy in the lineup and prizes this Mother's Day, aside from the Lexus. Just a bevy of special guests... Johannes was really out of place there. Nevertheless, thanks to some easier setups and some interesting gameplay, this still turned out to be a great Mother's Day show!

Bag was hard, but that game was lost as soon as they put the coffee in the $16 bag. I know there are cheap allergy medicines used on this show, but nothing else was going to be that expensive.

Coming or Going was a bit of a toss-up, which thankfully was called right.

Wow, what a day for 5 as the last number to actually be right in Lucky $even! In fact, with only the one -9 and all the other numbers right around the middle, calling all 5's would have actually won this setup! Patricia and Emilee sure made it exciting, and they were lucky they played this game today (and I'm glad Mike decided to be generous setup-wise today), because any other day they would have lost with that last call.

(Now let's just hope that the Ford Escape they get is scratch-free.  :P )

Secret "X" is one game I can accept being lost because it's been nothing but forced wins earlier in the season.

One Wrong Price was pretty easy, even if the junior Osbourne didn't quite know how it's won.

Money Game might arguably be the least exciting car game in the rotation, but it's always hilarious when someone stumbles into the back two numbers of the car first.

And both car winners get an extra grand to help with the taxes!

The Lexus showcase win was icing on the cake, no doubt helped by a FRATS being clearly overpriced.

Finally, congrats to Gwen on her upcoming new addition to her family!  :-)

I mentioned on one of the threads that they should have offered a "Very Brady Showcase" -- k'now, with the sports package (with football to accidentally throw in a pretty girl's face); the trips to Hawaii, Grand Canyon and Cincinatti's King Island; the classic 1970s Chevrolet station wagon and convertible ... and so forth.

OK, understood why those prizes weren't offered.

BUT WHERE ON EARTH WAS THE WESSON OIL???!!!???

(Or Florida orange juice, for that matter?)

You couldn't have a grocery game without those iconic items ... on a day when Florence Henderson is on the show!

Mike, this is the "Oooh, my nose!" moment.

Wow, sweet car game wins.

I actually called it, sitting there watching L7 - I'm like "this is a special show, and they want it to be won.  The last number's going to be 5, and they're going to get it right."  Suprised there wasn't at least an el cheapo option there on Money Game.

I would have bid $1 in their shoes on the Lexus showcase - even with some of the trips being for four, they were clearly over!

This show was way overloaded.  If you have to edit out a Lucky $even car wreck to fit in scripted things with a celebrity guest that are considerably less interesting, you're doing something wrong.  They're lucky It's in the Bag ended as quickly as it did -- Drew was booking through the Showcase as it was.

Even after searching for his name online, I still have no idea who Johannes is.

Lucky $even, even with the wreck edited out, was AWESOME.  Drew even hosted it well.

Money Game was pretty sweet, too.  It's always fun when somebody finds the last two numbers first.

For Dob's sake, where the heck is Barker's Bargain Bar?!

Rather than a spontaneous moment being left in (the Lucky $even car crash), we get scripted crap and no real reason for Florence to even be present at all. That said, I would not be surprised in the least if the crash was also scripted.

Barker's Bargain Bar is back, but it's now called the generic "Bargain Game".

Great show today. Another great couples special. It seems like they're finally getting things right now.

-It's in the Bag was a fail.
-Lucky $even was awesome. It is always an utter joy to see a nice Lucky $even setup, since they've been so rare since Roger left. It is an absolute shame they had to edit out what is possibly one of the best moments of this season.
-Secret X was a mixed bag of "eh." A huge difference like that and you think that plastic bar was $15. Really? I mean I'm sure it didn't help that the X was on the top, but I think that was setup for both X's to be won.
-Money Game was awesome. You can pretty much book a win if you find the last two numbers first. Well done

I love Florence Henderson. So she did no wrong in my eyes. Great celebrity guest.

On the other hand, her "Mr. Eye Candy" had to be the most pointless guest since Jack Wagner. At least Jack Wagner knew when to take a brake.

Gwen's son was absolutely adorable and I must say I liked him more than Connor.

What an overbid. Geez.

I also must echo what Steve said. I was sad to find out that Bargain Game's premiere week was two weeks ahead of schedule, but I sat and waited two weeks excited for its return to regular rotation. Now where the hell is it? I know they've played it again. So where is it?

Secret X: Seems a little mean to put the secret X on top, but that's just me.

It was clever to put the Secret X on top. Florence Henderson occupied that same spot in the squares on The Brady Bunch. Then I noticed a theme when I saw the nine square-set up again on the Money Game board. But that season number "40" was in Florence's spot. And it wouldn't budge from its spot, even for Mrs. Brady.  :D

Loved the show with Florence as the guest, but I was disappointed with the Showcases. I wanted Brady prizes and skits! Three vacations in the first Showcase--but not one of them to Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, or King's Island Amusement Park? Then in the second Showcase, Florence should have played Carol Brady with Rachel, Amber, and Gwen as Marcia, Jan, and Cindy:

Marcia (Rachel): Mom, guess what! We sneaked out of the house to get your Mother's Day present.
Carol: That's great, girls! You know that I can't wait! What did you get me?
Jan (Amber): Cindy entered a Shirley Temple song and dance contest and won a lot of money, so we were able to get you ...  six pairs of Michael Kors shoes!
Carol: Those are so nice! I need to go shopping and see if I can find a dress. Let me have the keys to the station wagon, Marcia.
Cindy (Gwen): Uh, Mom. The station wagon isn't here.
Carol: What?! Marcia, didn't you drive the car home? Where is it? Don't tell me you lost it like Cindy lost my favorite earrings!
Marcia: Remember the time Peter played ball in the house and accidentally broke your favorite vase? Well, I've had the same bad luck. I had sort of an accident and totaled the car.
Carol: What?! Marcia, you are grounded! Go to your room!
Jan: Don't worry, Mom. We saved so many trading stamps over the last 40 years that we were also able to get you ...  a Lexus IS250C Convertible!!!

Girls: Happy Mother's Day, Mom!
Carol and the girls hug and head for the convertible.
And this happy Brady Mother's Day Showcase can be yours if the price is right.

Well...the way Drew hosts this game, you'd never know the contestants won money whenever they revealed a dollar sign. They might as well just call it "The Front & Back Game." Heck, they could potentially save a few hundred bucks with each playing!

If you're talking about real orange juice, Anita Bryant was the main spokeswoman for Florida orange juice through most of the '70s until her anti-homosexuality opinions got in the way of things.

Florence was in a number of commercials for Tang, but that contains about .000000001% juice.  :oldlol:

...he knows that Barker's Bargain Bar is now known as Bargain Bar, as he knows just about everything Price related, since, you know, he wrote the damn FAQ and timeline on this website...

If you don't understand it by now you're probably not going to when 4 more people explain it as well...

Say what you will about this one...but I really, really enjoyed this show.  Florence Henderson was a great guest, L7 was exciting, Gwen's family was a nice touch (cute kid...they should stick him on more often)...heck, all the stuff you guys are kvetching about was all stuff I didn't even notice!

Trust me, you went a lot farther toward making yourself look like a dip than you did toward offending me.

4th One-Bid
I saw the "CBS DVD" logo, but the Brady Bunch and Happy Days were ABC shows, and I Love Lucy was the only CBS show offered.

I think its because the two of them were syndicated by companies that were emalgamated into what is now CBS Television Distribution.

Correct, CBS now owns these shows even though they were first broadcasted on another network. The same is true for Star Trek, which first aired on NBC. All of these shows are available to watch on CBS.com

Yes, having Johannes was pointless but I'll take him over Goddard any day... Maybe Johannes can be Gwen's maternity leave fill-in :)

And yes, would have been a hoot to see Wesson Oil in "Bag"...

JT...

I think Goddard knows how to drive. So, Goddard +1.

CBS now owns all three outright via their purchase of Paramount (which produced the first two series).
