Bill comes out to loud applause and bequeaths an Oscar, and Emmy and Tony ("sort of the new Andrew Sisters") to the audience for being "the greatest bunch of actors since they invented the Academy Award." The sweepstakes winner will be announced later; these are tonight's bargain hunters:
* - Paul Agner is the returning champion (from June 7--the show hosted a special panel of honeymooners the previous week). He's a buyer from Maywood N J, returning with $9381 in winnings.
* - Barbara Blocker is a housewife from Dallas TX.
* - Charles McLochlin is an accountant from Benton Harbor MI.
* - Betty Wegener is a housewife from Gloucester City N J.
All contestants receive a year's supply of Dove soap, courtesy of Lever Brothers, one of the show's sponsors.
First item up for bids: A color TV/hi-fi/bar combination in Walnut verneer. The TV is a 23-inch black-and-white set, it has a four-speed record changer with amplifier and AM-FM tuner. Dantomuro furniture is the price authority.

Next item is unusual: It's a 1919 Stutz Bearcat, powered by a 4-horsepower engine and is on loan to the show from the Long Island Auto Museum of Southampton. Whoever makes the best bid on it will instead win a new 1961 Chevrolet Bel Air. Bidding on the Stutz Bearcat at its 1919 retail price.

Bill says he heard a lot of voices in the audience shouting advice, "and I think they're gonna be in for a surprise." Actual retail price of the Stutz Bearcat: $2750, with Mr. McLochlin winning the Chevrolet Bel Air, equipped with a 6-cylinder engine, automatic transmission, worth $2804.25.
The winner of the home by the Institute For Essential Housing is announced. June and Toni draw a card from each of five spinning drums and posts them on a numbered board. The board is brought to Bill, who uncovers the home's price: $13,900. The names and bids:

(3) E. Wilensky, Philadelphia PA, bid: $18,890.80

Katherine Sutton is the winner of the home and she will be flown to New York to be a contestant on the show. The other four entrants receive a Zenith transistor transoceanic portable radio with nine bands.
Next item: An emerald necklace in pendant design by Veritay jewels. The pendant is Caversham cut and weighs 11.75 karats. It is accented by two marquee diamonds and suspended on a string of 16 Caversham emeralds weighing 67.61 karats.
Mr. McLochlin is the starter, asked to open at least with $1000; minimums are $100:

Final item (and it's Bill's all-time favorite): A Piper Colt 108 airplane. It's a two-seater, powered by a 108-hp 4-cylinder dual-ignition engine, with radio navigation systems, can go 115 MPH and gets 18 MPG.

I just looked at the episode, from 1961, and I am actually from Maywood, New Jersey, where Mr. Agner is from. I don't know if he still living.
I wonder how Mr. Agner did the following week.

Mr. Agner was shut out on the next week's show. He was dethroned by Michael Dooley, an X-ray specialist from Phoenixville PA, who won a home in Florida on the last item game.
