Title: Crowther version - pictures
Post by: WildDuck on June 13, 2006, 02:21:33 PM
I have a couple of videos of 1980s UK TPIR with Leslie Crowther. I'm more than happy to contribute some caps to the appropriate gallery if somebody could let me know the protocol for doing so. Thanks.

WildDuck -- thanks for your interest.  You can go ahead and forward the photos, along with the appropriate captions, to photos@golden-road.net  We'll get them loaded into the Gallery ASAP.

Marc: thanks for rapid response. I'll send a small sample as a test run and if all is OK, get busy with creating some more caps (when breaks between World Cup games allow...).

Are these episodes willing to be traded for or are they the episodes already in the gallery?

Cheers.

Patchy,

I have one episode that appears to be the same as those in the 1980s gallery, but two others (one from 1987 and one from 1988) that definitely aren't. I also have, when I can fish it out of whatever loft/cupboard/hole it's lurking in, an early Crowther episode from 1984.

I wasn't especially thinking of trading anything, but would consider it if there's anything of interest.

Meanwhile, I'm quite happy to donate caps from the stuff I've got (excluding the one 1987 version that you've already got caps from).

Thanks for donating stuff WildDuck!

As the person who thought of and maintains that portion of the gallery, my "guide" is one full episode then just doing only prizes/pricing games.

If there's already been an episode capped, you don't have to go back and cap it again. Saves you some work.  :)

Speaking of, what PGs (If any) are missing from BPiR?

Bruce's Bargain Bar, Price Tags, Double Price Tags, Hi Lo, the original Most Expensive, Money Game, 1 Right Price, Race Game, Switcheroo, and Swap.  (Gee, I had no idea so many were missing until I actually checked...probably 'cause a lot of them are pictured on Brad or Patchy's sites.)

I'd also swear I remember someone saying that Clock Game's set was different in the early series.

(For those not familiar with this version of the show, "Price Tags" is Barker's Marker$.)

Hey Bryan, if your willing to trade him for something other than the Leslie episodes we both have that be great because you know I dont collect tapes really.

Otherwise if I dont trade ill have nothing to offer.

Cheers.

Clock Game's set was different, yes, but annoyingly when I did a recap of the second ever episode I don't mention how, I just say it was 'quite different' to later on.

It's also a shame the British version doesn't have Magic # while the Australian version does.

Just to let you know, folks (particularly Patchy and Bryan): I haven't forgotten about it!

I've copied my 1984 and 1988 tapes now and also managed to convert DIVX to WM format (not as long winded as I feared). Hopefully, this should make life easier for everyone, me included.

This just leaves the two 1987 episodes. We're getting there, and if the World Cup wasn't on, I'd probably have got a bit more done...

No problem...that's the first couple done and saved as 330-ish MB Windows Media files.

You mention one is already in the gallery, any idea which it is.  Most of the shots came from episodes I have and copied for Patchy to do the pictures.  Would be great to see TPiR from 1984 again, without doubt the best era for the UK TPiR and Leslie Crowther's best!

Bryan

The common one is from 1987, with the models all wearing green dresses. There's probably not much point in my copying this one, but I'll try to get my other 1987 episode copied and converted sometime this week.

Makes me wonder what happened on that day to make you and im guessing someone else who Bryan got his from have exactly the same episode archived.

Sporting event maybe, hot summers day and everyone was out.

I got that - and the other 1987 video - from someone who has a video collection of a rare size, though only those two TPIR 1987 episodes. Could be that Bryan came across the very same fellow...

My other two came directly from Central TV, so if anyone has those, it's sheer coincidence.

I've traded with Mitch Groff, Paul O'Kelly, Rob Dean, Ben Pearson, Glenn Purland.  Any of these names ring a bell?

None...I got my 1987 episodes from a chap called John Barrett.

I've managed to copy and convert three of my four TPIRs now - I'll do the other 1987 anyway, even if it appears that it's done the rounds before.

Oh yeah.  I've traded with John before and he does have the episodes I have.  He got them after me from another trader, so these episodes certainly are getting around.

I suspected they might have been about a bit. That reduces what I can offer you somewhat, but I've got the 1984 and 1988 episodes and can get those sent to you. Drop me a line and we can sort that out.

That's my four done now: all copied onto DVD.
