Does anyone actually care that Oprah Winfrey has a network devoted to her and her BFFs? Not me! That channel has no use in my house. Also, after what happened that year Rosie O'Donnell was on The View, I could care less about her.

What happened?  Never had much use for The View, but knowing Rosie I'll bet this is a good story.

Her and Elizabeth Hasselback got into a huge argument about the Iraq War.

The whole fight is on youtube.

Didn't like her (or Oprah for that matter) 20 years ago, don't like them now. Both are egotistical hypocrites.

I used to like Rosie when she had her first talk show.  She was funny and spontaneous.  Today, she's neither.  So good riddance to her latest attempt at a talk show.

Truthfully when she first came back, back in October, I was excited to see her show. But it kind of became a snoozefest for me quickly. It really wasn't the type of show I thought she would do. I kind of thought she would make it some sort of late night-type show in primetime. I was kind of surprised that she did a format change during the christmas break. Even though I really liked it, I also felt it was a deadly move for her to make.

You forget though, that this is a internet forum, populated by quite a few people, who seem to think that at their every whim, Television will automatically be made perfect to their liking, and if anyone disagrees with their opinion, they can get lost.

I watched the premiere episode and thought it was good but not good enough to make it must-see television and tune in everyday. I'm not surprised to see the show canceled, the ratings plunged. The show premiered at around 500,000 but went down to around 150,000 which is television suicide. Lets face it, Rosie had it her peak and while her name carries some weight her good days in show business are over.

Who wants to place bets the Oprah Winfrey Network will soon come to an end?

That actually is part of why I'm not surprised The Rosie Show is being cancelled. I can't remember where I had heard it, but the OWN network just hasn't been doing so hot after the first year. Looking at some of the tv show lineups, it doesn't look like Oprah has many programs listed that would intrigue a lot of people.

I'm not trying to bash Oprah because she's talented and I have a lot of respect for her. She is a powerhouse, she has influence, and it seems like most things she puts her name to have success. She took a big risk by slapping her name on a television network, I think its going to take a lot of time and guts for Oprah to publicly say something she put her name to was a flop. I do see how a lot of the shows on the network are appealing but I also don't know of anybody with an appetite to sit around watching those shows night and day.  But it also seems like the network is on a constant cycle. Its good because if I forget to watch a certain show I know I'll have several opportunities to see it again. And while I know the network isn't geared towards my demographic I do take interest in some of the programming. However, it also seems to be the channel I turn to when there is absolutely, positively nothing else on. I'm sure Oprah never intended it to be that way. I think I heard the ratings for OWN have tanked compared to when it was branded as Discovery Health!

I kind of have to agree with Axl. I don't get the whole "good riddance" thing when some of you probably didn't watch the show or the network in the first place. You just hear Rosie or Oprah didn't do well and say "good." Pretty callous considering you don't even watch.

It's an Out in Left Field thread about a show being cancelled, and I can't say that I can't stand the network the show comes on without you making a comment like that? Come on now. Get real, and stop putting words in my mouth. No one demanded anything. The comment I made was half in jest, actually, but it's readily apparent the humor was lost on some people. Ugh.

"Considering you don't even watch." How do you know that? Right. You don't. I think I've certainly sampled the network enough to give an informed opinion of it. Maybe you were referring to someone else, but then again, you have no way of knowing whether or not that person watches the channel either. You're just assuming...  ;)

I think everyone here can guess the one person who's probably "Jumping for Joy" that Rosie O' Donnell's talk show has been axed.
Of Course, we all remember her nasty confrontation w/ Elisabeth Hasselback on "The View" but what about her nasty blowup at Tom
Selleck back in I think 1999 on her other talk show. I don't even remember what the topic was but I just remember there was a whole of controversy behind that.

To me, Rosie didn't really any interesting celebrities on her show (except Mariah Carey, Fran Drescher, and Gloria Estefan) and I think she tried to re-create the magic that she previously had on her other talk show (that won her at least 6 Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Talk Show) but it didn't work.

I do know that Oprah's network ratings dipped after the strong start when it was first launched but the network ratings rose to at least
3 million when Oprah sat down w/ Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina and her sister-in-law and husband (My Uncle and I watched it).  The only programs I watched on Oprah's network were the "Season 25 Behind-the-Scenes", "Oprah's Life Class", and
"Oprah's Next Chapter" (tonight it's Lady Gaga).

I hope the OWN network will continue on but if it dosen't, I'm pretty sure Oprah'll have something else planned.

That's exactly why I was taken aback when, out of all the posts in this thread, my comment was singled out as the one that most represented "demand that Everything You Dislike Must Disappear From the Universe." No demands were made, and certainly "Everything (I) Dislike" was not discussed in the brief sentence I typed. I apologize if I was snippy towards anyone; I was just a bit mystified to see my post presented as evidence of all that.

Lots of Rosie hate going on in here.  I don't understand, and probably never will, why she is so disliked by so many.  Is it because she's not afraid to voice her opinion?  If she were a man I'm willing to bet a lot of you would think differently about her.  In any event, her latest talk show was insightful and informative and I hate to see it go.  If anything, lately Rosie has been being too nice rather than they "b-tch on wheels" image that so many are painting her as here.  If your last recollection of Rosie is from "The View" then your opinion of her is five years outdated.

It's not that she's not afraid to voice her opinion or that she's a woman.  The way she voices her opinions is so over-the-top, it turns a lot of people off.  Having strong opinions is fine, but vilifying those who disagree with you and being extremely rude is another.  I have seen much more recent footage of O'Donnell, and she continues to be very disagreeable.  I suggest you do a quick Internet search if you don't understand why so many are turned off by O'Donnell.

When Rosie has her daytime talk show years ago, I loved her. When Rosie became one of the co-hosts on The View, I started to dislike her because she seemed like she was starting to get a bit whiny when discussions didn't go her way (which is one of the main reasons I strongly dislike Elisabeth Hasselbeck), but after she left The View I started to like her again and while I've only seen her new show a handful of times, I don't think it was a bad show at all. I also don't understand all the Rosie hate. There have been so many other celebrities who've done/said things that are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse than Rosie, but yet all has been forgiven.

I said this before Its not surprising to Rosie O'Donnell show go it wasn't the best show ever and she was on a network that just started out. Sometimes Own would air a movie from 1977 and then air Rosie show not a good lead in. To top it off she would have hour long shows for one celebrity which i found boring if they wasn't interesting. And Rosie always talked about being a lesbian mom, Turning 50, and Menopause on almost every show and it got old quickly.

Own needs more then Reality shows and Talk Shows Oprah knows tons of famous people Tyler Perry etc she really need to get some deals with them to produce shows and have it air on her network. She needs to stop having so many repeats she aired the Whitney Houston Interview thing 20 times in a row.

No need, I've been keeping up with her since 1996.  Her latest show she has show to be much more agreeable.  Even extending an olive branch to Donald Trump.  If you don't like her, you're entitled to that opinion however.

I agree with that article completely. It is extremely difficult to have one host get out everything in the course of an hour but I think it isn't always easy to have a conversation with just the camera or the in-studio audience. You need to have that guest co-host or contributor that raises a point that makes the host think "Why didn't I think of that?" I am a huge fan of The View and if I'm not working I watch The Talk. I only like a couple hosts on each show, there is no way I like all 5 hosts. But I still tune in to hear what my favourites are going to say and what they're going to do next. I do agree you can have a show like The Rosie Show in which you may not like the host itself. But if you have panel of regular contributors you're still likely to watch the show. Gone are the days where you tune into see the guests because the hosts aren't as scripted as they used to be.

Even extending an olive branch to Donald Trump.

I didn't know that she did that - kinda shows who the bigger person of the two is. One website I check on a regular basis has this article about Donald Trump's reaction to her show being cancelled. I don't get why he's continuing a feud from years ago. Nobody cares what Rosie said about you, Donald! I think it's funny how he says Rosie fails at everything and she'll continue to fail at everything when his show, The Apprentice, was cancelled by NBC due to low ratings. The Celebrity Apprentice (which I consider a different series from the original) is only hanging on by a thread because NBC as a whole is a mess.

Here is said article: http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/the-rosie-show-cancellation-22503/

You're entitled to your opinion, as well, of course, but if you think she's going to change an image she's damaged over the last several years by being "more agreeable" on some program virtually nobody even knew existed--much less watched--that's not going to happen.  For the record, I watched her show sometimes in the mid-to-late 1990s, and I liked it.  She's not the same Rosie from those days--not even close.

I'm not sure if anyone saw this article: http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2012/03/rosie-odonnell-own-show-was-fking-hellhole-says-staffer (http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2012/03/rosie-odonnell-own-show-was-fking-hellhole-says-staffer)

It's so hard to believe anything you read online anymore. I went to the link from the post just above and followed some links I found on that site as well where they state that Rosie is extremely bitter about it all and she hates Oprah, etc etc. But then I see this article where Rosie talks about the cancellation: http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/the-rosie-show-odonnell-cancellation-22525/ . I'm more likely to believe the article with direct quotes from Rosie herself than a bunch of "sources close to the situation" articles.

I'm more likely to believe the article with direct quotes from Rosie herself than a bunch of "sources close to the situation" articles.

While having one or two disgruntled employees speaking out should be taken with a grain of salt, it sounds as though the Daily Beast writer has done his homework.  The people who spoke to that author have nothing to gain by speaking anonymously (and apparently consistently) about the problems on that show.  Rosie has any number of potential motivations for underplaying the problems.  It doesn't do any good for her future career to cop to her failures or antagonize Oprah Winfrey.  And it's entire possible that she doesn't even realize how unpleasant a person she allegedly is to work with.  I've known a lot of jerks and bad bosses who were unable to comprehend that they were not loved by others.

From what I've seen (watched the clip of her last show) and read, Rosie hasn't been antagonizing Oprah. I'm sure if Rosie was being a royal bi*ch to Oprah she wouldn't have even given her the opportunity to have a proper final episode.
