The TALK Is Right / Re: TPiR taping questions
« Last post by COINBOYNYC on Today at 10:15:28 PM »
I thought you weren't allowed to attend both tapings in one day (in case you get selected to come on down).

How would that affect things?  Certainly, the staff would know you were already selected as a contestant and wouldn't consider you for the second taping, but that shouldn't affect your ability to sit in the audience.

And I think http://www.tvguide.com/tvshows/the-price-is-right/episodes/194480/ might have just spoiled all the big money games this week. Let's see if they screwed up the order, and this probably means the THAT'S TOO MUCH!/Screw you combo of games are probably going to be this Friday.

FPG -- Friday Prediction Game / Re: 2017-2018 FPG Spoilers

So, if you all want a whole bunch of spoilers, here you go. I am going to put these all into brackets to where goes where.

==Day where there is an all cash show (Yes. They are doing that again. Thank you https://www.cbspressexpress.com/cbs-entertainment/video?watch=&show=the-price-is-right&page=1 for posting two new videos, and the first one is the source of my ranting, and the second one is where I get the all cash show info from.)==
All we know for certain is that Half Off has it's original color scheme and is WON (Thank you Drew Carey suits).

Million dollar Plinko comes back on another day. (If the trailer wasn't enough for you, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mnr6YQRpA1I&ab_channel=BuzzerBlog should be.) Also, I don't have to note this, but we do know a bit more that can be discovered via slotting.

On a day we don't know, $250,000 Punch-a-Bunch is played.

And finally, the coup de gr‚ce of all these spoilers, a video posted on CBSPE and the trailer reveal that That's Too Much is won, and another game that is revealed has a STUPID TWIST, AND NOT ONLY THAT, FROM THE SUIT THAT DREW IS WEARING, IT IS REASONABLE TO CONCLUDE THAT THIS EPISODE IS THE ONE THAT BROKE THE ALL-TIME RECORD, NOT THE MILLION DOLLAR PLINKO, WHICH MEANS THAT THE STUPID TWIST WAS PROBABLY WON. AND I AM SO MAD THAT THAT TWIST WAS WON, CAPS ARE APPROPRIATE.

Just... click the video to the CBSPE. You'll see my shock on the twist they are doing.

Anyways, that's my effort thread on spoilers that I am forced to hand out. Flerb says I should keep all slotting hints to myself, and that I shall  :P

Edit: Good for that person who won that twist though.

The TALK Is Right / Re: Unique Pricing game lineups
« Last post by William on Today at 07:12:44 PM »
Easily for me, Walk of Fame. I always felt that it was retired because it was a four prize game that took an awkward amount of time to play. The car game played with it in the same half often had to either be a quickie like Double Prices or Squeeze Play.

Do you know of a specific date of this happening? Based on the pricing game calendars, there doesn't seem to be any confirmed example of this kind of lineup in the game's lifespan.

Guess Iíll throw in another vote for Check Game. The old-fashioned style set and the think music which I think debuted in late season 16 goes together very well.

The Youtube embed code is really wonky here...

You have to remove the "s" from the "https:/"  in the URL in order for it to embed properly. It doesn't like it otherwise.

Just had the same problem in the post about how the PlayTape logo may have been the inspiration for the TPIR dollar mark. Posted a video to Techmoan's PlayTape video, and it said "Invalid YouTube Link". And I'm running Firefox 58.0.1 on Ubuntu 64-bit.

Out In Left Field / Possible origin of the iconic TPIR dollar mark?
« Last post by wvoutlaw2002 on Today at 04:31:53 PM »
A while back, I was watching a video on YouTube from Techmoan. (I love his videos about retro tech.) Well anyway, he had a video about a long-forgotten audio format called PlayTape.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBSGuR589_Q (Posting a link to the video because this board claims it's an invalid YouTube link.)

The one thing which struck me the most about the video was the PlayTape logo. I immediately thought, "that looks so much like the TPIR dollar mark". So I decided to edit the PT logo in GIMP, and came up with the TPIR dollar mark.

I attached the PT logo and TPIR dollar mark (made from the PT logo in GIMP) for comparison purposes.

Question: Is this the true origin of the TPIR dollar mark?

Chalk up another vote for the Check Game!

The giant check and huge feather pen provide wonderful aesthetics, the old fashioned wood makes for an elegant set piece, and the green background for the digital display is a nice contrast to the wood brown.  I also love how the contestant's name is on the check and it also has Drew Carey's signature on the check ready to go.

Hopefully that game doesn't get retired.  It is a classic.
