It goes to the contestant who bid $669. (cue: Will you join me, Cyclone. Cyclone is going to play our first pricing game on the show today. And Cyclone, look, just look, at what you can win.

Cornelius: Cyclone, I hope you're good at Math, because we're playing Add 'Em Up. Now I will help you all I can to help you win that car. First, I will tell you that the first number in the price of that car is 1. Now forget about that 1. Focus on the remaining four digits because the remaining four digits will equal 17.

Cornelius: Now, I will give you two Mulligans. These are mistakes. If you make a third mistake, the game is over. Now, I will tell you either the second, third, fourth, or fifth number. Which number do you want to know?

Nice try GRV. :D  Knew that was coming, or I would have stuck with $666. LMAO

Now I thought this was a $20,000 car, so this total of 17 starting with a 1 confuses me.  Well, I'll see what happens. :D

I have a good idea of the second digit, and I don't think it ends "95", so we're going to take the fourth digit.

Also, I love Add Em Up! Nice choice cornelius!

I always have weird explanations! :D  Think of it: six pieces, and a bed, great for...I'll stop there.

Title: Re: Cornelius' TPIR: Episode 5 (Hour Power!): IUFB1

Cornelius: He wants to know the fourth digit, and it is a...

1__,__ 5__
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/ab/Nissan_Juke_Acenta_1.6_2x4_front_20101030.jpg/280px-Nissan_Juke_Acenta_1.6_2x4_front_20101030.jpg)

Cornelius: 5. Now let's do a little subtraction. 17 take away 5 equals 12. So think of the three remaining digits that are in that car. Remember, you can make two mistakes, but no more. So give me a number, and we'll see if it's up there.
Title: Re: Cornelius' TPIR: Episode 5 (Hour Power!): IUFB1

Jeez, this is way too easy, especially with 2 mulligans, if Cyclone fails I'm going to have a chuckle :P
Title: Re: Cornelius' TPIR: Episode 5 (Hour Power!): IUFB1
Post by: Cyclone on November 10, 2012, 10:04:39 PM
GRV: I think I won the first round. :D

So we have 12 left, hmm?  Now that 9 is seeming like a strange little idea.  I thought 5 might be the ending digit, naturally.  However, 9 makes sense ($19K vehicle), 0 at the end; $19,350 could very well be what you have, and the mulligans should cover me if I'm right on the 9 but wrong otherwise.  Let's start with the 9.

vader: math was my elementary school major.  Logic was my casual activity.  I can break stuff down.  I got this. :)

Title: Re: Cornelius' TPIR: Episode 5 (Hour Power!): IUFB1
Post by: Cyclone on November 11, 2012, 09:08:41 AM
...a $20,000 car, I thought this was.

So let's review.  0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 left.  12 remaining can be (in no particular order as I'm not picking that):

8+4+0
8+3+1
7+4+1
7+3+2
6+4+2

What I have to decide here is the right combination.  If I pick 6, 7, or 8 and am wrong, there is no guaranteed pick that is safe.  Same with 0, 1, and 2.  Looking at 3 and 4 however, there are numerous combinations with 4.

Thus, my question then becomes what the second digit is.  If I get that now, game over and win, I can spell out victory.

So here are my picks ASSUMING the first is correct: if not, the rest of the picks are NOT chosen.

My pick is an 8.
If 8 is on there (better be that second digit), and ONLY if that 8 is on there, my next pick is 4.
If 8 is there and 4 is NOT there, and ONLY in this circumstance, I pick 1, then 3.  If 4 IS there...well, yeah, think we know what's left. :)

If 8 is NOT there, this listings of picks is to be ignored.

That should speed things up if I'm right. :D

Cornelius: It's wheel spinning time here on The Price is Right. As the top winner, Cyclone will spin last. DarkshockBro will spin 2nd, and Hag will start us off. Get a dollar on one spin or a combination of two spins, and we'll give you $1,000 and a bonus spin. If you get the green section on the wheel, and we'll give you $10,000 more, and get that dollar again, and we'll give you $25,000 more. Now also, which ever one of you gets closest to $1 without going over will go on to the showcases. Now Hag start us off.

I'm a little confused, is he playing for a Focus or Fusion? Seeing that the first number is a 1, I'd say Focus, as the base Fusion is worth somewhere around $22,000-$23,000 nowadays. Oops, just spoiled something here

MOD intercede here...

I own a Ford Fusion.  The photo you displayed looks like a Ford Fusion.  4-door Ford Focuses (or is it Foci) don't look the same as the 4-door Ford Fusion.  So, what are we playing for here, exactly?

(Note to future hosts ---  be very careful with photos and descriptions, we have many savvy players here)

Cornelius, please clarify what is being played for here, and clarify whether the photo you showed does, or does not, match the prize.

Thanks

Here's a recap. 1 is the first digit. doctorwho rolled a 1 for the second number. it was wrong, but since there are no zeros in the price of the car, it was automatically higher. then doctorwho rolled a 5 for the third number, it was wrong, and he said lower. And he just rolled a 4. Now if he wants to change either of his choices, he's more than welcome to do so.

Cornelius: Going on, and the last roll is:

Cornelius: Now, he was rolled a one. Is that right? (Buzz) No, but we already know that this is higher than one. Now this sets up an interesting situation. And if he doesn't win this car, I'll be sick to my stomach. Now, we know that this is higher than one, so light it up.

(http://www.random.org/dice/dice1.png)     5

Cornelius: And we know at the end where you rolled another one, so light that up.

(http://www.random.org/dice/dice1.png)     5

Cornelius: Now when you rolled that 5, you said it is lower. Light it up.

(http://www.random.org/dice/dice5.png)      4

Cornelius: Now then. it all hangs on this 4. If this 4 is lower, you win that Ford Fusion. Now, for the win, and that car, light it up.

Cornelius: Now, Jalin, before I have you call the final contestant, I want to bring to your attention of TheGRVofLightning. He has been here since I walked through those big doors. Now since we have gone to an hour, this HYO has never had a contestant that stayed down in contestants' row throughout the ENTIRE show. Will GRV's luck change here? Let's find out. Who will join us?

Jalin: It's going to be htmlcc92! (cue: Come on down! You're the next contestant on The Price is Right!

Cornelius: Welcome to the show, htmlcc92. You only have one chance to bid, make it count. Here's the next item up for bids.

I want to point out that GRV is currently in a banned status.  I don't know if it's for a day, a week, a month, or permanent.  However, it needs to be considered for the purposes of this show.

Personally, for the purposes of the show (nothing to do with his challenge to me whatsoever), I recommend a replacement.

We'll wait and see what happens with my choice before we figure out if I made my one chance count... :-|
Based on what I've looked at on spa prices, I'm so torn between flipping or flipping and flopping, though, of course, I could be totally wrong.

Any help from the audience?

Consider my final answer to be flipping to make a price of $7854 if there is no audience input before 10:00 tomorrow morning, please.
