Safe Cracker - The moment that Shay pick $670 dollars for the safe there was no doubt in my mind he had loss. My guess was $760 dollars.

Temptation - ouch! That was hard to swallow. But in Michelle's case, better safe than sorry.

Plinko = ugh!

Squeeze Play- The moment that megan choose to take the 3 out I had feeling that Megan had loss.

Money Game- ouch!

Hit Me- A Great Win.

Temptation- Are you kidding me. For the first time in a long time, somebody gets the price right, but they quit. Ouch.

Bidding Round #3- #195, Megan (http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/7730/195megan58065wp.jpg)! :-D (I guess I'll make this the new hottie smiley)

Bidding Round #5- #196, Jeana (http://img433.imageshack.us/img433/439/196jeana58069lp.jpg)! :-D

Showcase- Sweet, Megan is today's cham- wait, check that. :-(

BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY- Michelle.

SHOW SUMMARY AND GRADE- A quiet show to start off the week and the legacy (ha) of our new chat room... Grade: 1

Well... I can't really say this was a particularly good episode.  About all it had going for it were a couple of rarities.  The bad kind, I guess, but heck, rare stuff is always cool, anyway.

First, I don't care that Michelle had the price right in Temptation.  I've been wanting to see someone bail out with the right price for years just to see it actually happen!  Besides, I know a lot of you guys would've been calling her stupid for not going for the sure thing if she did go for the car and lost--you guys are predictable like that!

And second, the ineligibility.  Was it a case of appearing on the show before, or was it a different eligibility problem?  If it was a case of appearing on the show before, does anyone have any clue when Megan might have appeared before today?  I mean, she looked fairly young, so it couldn't have been too long ago, right?

When was the last time Roger set up Hit Me without a single product, besides the actual ace itself, that looked like an ace?  That made today's playing easier than normal.

Vicious Money Game today:  35 wasn't right!  I really can't blame Jeana for losing, as the truck is cheaper than it looks, and 56 looked terrible for the last two numbers.  Which ironically would've drawn me to the 56, but I really can't expect any normal contestant to go for such an oddball number like that.

Speaking of Jeana... yes, heels.  Yes ;-).

Safe Crackers: Why do they have to make this a tossup? And why does the game reveal need to be more awkward than it is?

Temptation: OUCH. So close, and yet so far to a win here! I knew she had the price right, yet I seriously thought she was going to say 9 for the third digit. What made her say 2? Anwyay, if this pattern keeps up, we'll finally have a win on the season's last playing of the season.

Plinko: Most of the small prizes were tough. And the player didn't have much luck either.

SSD1: Too bad the 100-year-old didn't get up on stage.

Squeeze Play: Hard. I thought$7,380 was the most logical price.

Money Game: It's a shame this was lost today. The last two digits, 56, was pretty high for an average contestant to choose. If only she hadn't burnt off her first two choices...

Hit Me: It was won!

Showcases: Another tough break for Michelle. I had a feeling the first one was over $20K, because the spa was a Jacuzzi, and those are pretty expensive. Given that, I thought Michelle had won. But, at least Michelle won something, and given that Megan was DQed, hopefully Michelle will be given her showcase anyway, if that's alright with her.

Overall: Decent show today. If only there were a few more wins today...

I heard about the ineligibility issue. To be fair to Megan, who did nothing wrong, it should be noted that it was the fourth contestant called, not the fourth contestant onstage, who was ineligible (they gave Rich the wrong thing to say).

Anybody have a copy of the May 3, 2001 episode?

Ah.  So that's Michelle, then.  In that case, I guess the right person won the showcase!  And it was the best possible time to get a rare bailout with the car being the right price, since it would've just been uglier if she actually did win the car!

Well, with that straightened out, does anyone know when Michelle might have appeared on the show before, or for that matter, if that's even the reason she was ineligible?

And heels, considering you have the ineligible contestant for you Contestant of the Day, it might be appropriate to change that to Megan, who was pleasant enough, and might deserve a little positive attention after her looking like a troublemaker today.

Not much to say here, but:

Temptation:  OW! Painful to see her bail out with the right car price.

Hit Me: a great win on the very difficult playing.

Overall: Wow!  What's going on here?  A streak of dull shows ever since last Monday.  I hope it changes soon.

shellgame, how was Hit Me particularly difficult today?  Today was the first time in a long time where Roger didn't use a product that looked like an ace, other than the actual ace.

And because I forgot to mention it earlier for some reason, did anyone else find it funny how Jeana kept saying she'd been watching the show for 14 years?  Guess she was just wasting the rest of her life !

Pricing Game Length:
The time of the game begins at the moment a prize is revealed for the game, or the game itself is shown (Safe Crackers).

Safe Crackers -- 2:25
Temptation -- 3:56
Pl!nko! -- 3:07
Squeeze Play -- 1:07
Money Game -- 2:08
Hit Me -- 2:57

Did anyone else think that between the transition the of the first One-Bid and Safe Crackers there was an edit?

I sure pity the ineligible contestant.
But I have a question: If a contestant had to give back his/her prizes for being ineligible, do they give away the returned prizes to another contestant?

John said in another thread that Megan was the ineligible one. She was a contestant on a previous show. There go my plans to get on again. :)

That's my error.  I was confused as well.

If Scott is referencing the May 3rd, 2001 episode as being the other show she was on, there was no one named "Michelle" on that show.  It is very possible that someone used their birthname and then nickname each time.

I'm sure this is a very frustrating moment for the CBS and Price folks.  They try very hard to ensure this never happens, and then the question is whether or not she did it on purpose.  I think it's frustrating to see it as a fan, since someone who wasn't even eligible to win took the place of an eligible hopeful.

After learning all this, I was hoping she won Temptation.

Well, after Rich's caveat at the end of the show, I was stirred to rewind my DVR and confirm who the "4th onstage contestant" was, only to be hornswoggled that Megan lost her showcase and $1000 from The Big Wheel.  I'm glad to see it was just Michelle, with her strange Temptation bailout, that was the actual ineligible contestant.

Otherwise, a pretty boring episode, though I always get a kick out of Splendido! still being used on occasion for the nothing-but-furniture showcases.

To go back to someone's remark about Safe Crackers--yes, the cut from the One Bid to the reveal was def a bit strange.  I felt that the existing reveal was already unnerving with the traditional pan shot, but without seeing the doors opening, it's even weirder ( . . . "more weird"??).  Please, never do that again!

One-Bid #1 - Kiteboarding?

PG #2 - OMG, somebody actually could've won Tempty this season.  Once again, the Dobber ends a car price with a 5... but this time, the contestant actually took it.  Well, $5,000 in prizes is nothing to sneeze at.

PG #3 - $40 for mops?!  And we go right back to a $1,500 Stinko.

SCSD #1 - Gotta love it whenever Bob points out somebody in the audience who is older than he is.  :-P

SCSD #1 b - Online ticket plug on a Monday?

PG #4 - I would've taken out the 3 as well.  Stupid friggin' random trailer...

PG #5 - Both 44 and 56 were evil.        Nobody except for Golden-Road.net members would've ever picked either of those.

PG #6 - Gotta give Roger credit for not making today's Hit Me playing an absolute lock for a win.  I feared that Patricia would get suckered into picking the $21.00 Windex.  And for once, the evil Capzasin helped somebody win a pricing game.

(this portion was edited out cuz I just realized that Michelle, not Megan, was declared ineligible)

My showcase bids - Splendido:  $18,800.  Mustang:  $29,500.

I thought today's show was pretty good, notwithstanding the ineligibility brouhaha.  If Michelle was well aware that she was not eligible to be a contestant again, then she's almost more blameworthy for not keeping herself out than CBS is for not catching her.  Definitely unfortunate that this happened, however it did.

And this news also tempers my Temptation reaction.  I thought today was a great day to take the prizes, because there was something about $18,235 that just didn't look right, but the digits looked good to me when chosen individually.

This is the first time I've ever heard Bob explicitly explain the optimal Hit Me strategy; has he done this previously?

Always nice to hear Splendido in a showcase, one that I would normally say was surprisingly valuable, except that those of us on this site know better.

And where were Temptation, Money Game, and Hit Me on Friday when I needed them for FPG purposes?

The *real* question is, who is that superman guy in your avatar John?  How'd Megan/Michelle manage to get through the contestant co-ordinators twice?  I've been through there twice myself and I haven't come close.

Dirk, look at the list of pricing games closely, and you'll see something cool.

Anyway, I normally say take the prizes in Temptation, but I actually liked $18,235 when it came up.  Can't go wrong with a car price ending in 35 ;)

Okay, so Money Game proved me wrong, but that was a Dice Game truck.  I wonder why that wasn't played...

Thanks Joe.  I just noticed what the Friday lineup spells.  Let there be no doubt that Roger is keenly aware of what we're up to.

Also, Dice Game was played last Thursday.  Roger may not mind playing Bullseye, Eazy az 123, Double Prices, and One Away twice within six shows, but I guess Dicey twice in three shows may have been too much even for him.

UGH! A fine day for the disc to commit suicide in the recorder, so I missed the entire episode. After sucessfully loading and recording a few minutes of TV onto a new disc in the morning (then going to bed), I woke up and found that the machine was reading it as a finalized disc, couldn't record to it, and I couldn't view what I had already recorded.

Let me throw this question out there...if Michelle willingly got herself on twice, do you think that her conscience got the better of her, leading her to bail out on Temptation? (This is assuming she was confident of a win)

It would look that way to me (with that "benefit of the doubt" bus driver mentality I have), then again I would have to see the actual episode.

I have to say I don't feel sorry for the production staff nor CBS if they didn't do their homework on the ineligible contestant. If they chose to let her "run the game " on them, they might have been asking for it. Then again, she should have sense enough to know that you can only be on the show once.

1. Safe -- very weird reveal, and a logical pick, but he lost.

2. Temptation -- GOTTA LOVE IT! That car sounded like a shoe in @ 18,235, as soon as she bailed out, I knew it was gonna happen! And, now that we have the right person, was ineligible. Nice waste of our time Michelle, THANKS FOR NOTHING! :D

3. Plinko(aka Stinko lol) -- here we go again! Back to lower wins, I think it's time the 1k space go to 2500 like TPIR '94 did to get some *decent* wins more often

4.Switcheroo -- Is this the same "random trailer" that we see in the showcases? Argh, save it for the showcases and not Switcheroo. Thanks!

5.$$$ game -- I went for 35, but I guess the chances of having two cars end in "35" in the same show were about a "snowball's chance in h___". What was I thinking?

6.Hit me -- Finally, the "damn Capsazin" (as BRB calls it, LOL!) came into play for a change. Seems like it  was used as a "worthless" in Baggie, and used more often as a promotional plug in the one-bid vs. actually being used for an item that wins a game.

SC's -- Gotta love that employment contract one! Too funny! I hope they do this again for season 35.

Hey BR, where'd ya come up with Switcheroo?

Anyways, decent show today, not the best, but not the worst.

Safe Crackers: Ack that was just awful-the reveal for the game that is. $670? Ack. This should have been won.

Temptation: Wow is all I can say

Plinko: Well, this game is back to its cold, cold ways or its back with a vengeance take your pick.

Squeeze Play: Evil for me today. I had no clue which to remove, but $7580 did seem to look a little better to myself, unfortunately for Megan it didn't.

Money Game: EVIL!!!!!!! 56 for the back? Nuff said

Hit Me: Easy and i'll leave it at that.

As far as the ineligibility is concerned-I echo Alan Jackson: "Who's cheatin' who and who's bein' true, and who don't even care anymore, it makes you wonder who's doin' right with Price folks today and whose car is parked next door."

Not really a good show today. The most notable thing, obviously, was Michelle's disqualification.

Money Game was harder, because 35 was a choice, but wasn't correct. 56 seemed like a choice that most contestants wouldn't have picked.

Hit Me was very easy, and it resulted in the only win of the day!

That was the most painful Temptation loss I've seen in ages.  Anybody know the last time somebody quit when they could have won?  (Not that it ended up mattering, but still...)

Regardless, though...that price didn't look right at all.  I don't blame her one bit for bailing out.

How in the world did Mary Lou miss the Libman products in Plinko?  You practically had to be drunk to get those wrong!

You know, I get the feeling Roger really didn't want Money Game won today.  Thanks to the amazingly low first two numbers, the low number trick didn't work, and the opposite strategy used by people who don't know the trick didn't work, either.

Patricia really deserves credit for winning Hit Me.  Not only did she clearly know exactly how to play the game, it wasn't even easy today -- there were two items that could have been the 10, and I don't think either one has ever been used before.

The second showcase was awesome.  The Beauties did a great job looking ticked off.

What the freakin' hell does that have to do with the first Showcase Showdown?

According to Scorpz's recap, there's no one named Michelle on theat episode.  There is someone named Patrica, though.

With all due respect, I think that's an incredibly immature attitude.  To my knowledge, this has happened three times in 34 years.  That's an average of less than one ineligible contestant every 11 years, out of just under 55,000 contestants (and that's only including the daytime show).  They do an incredible job with this; they're allowed to let one slip through the cracks every once in a while.

Except the Davidson version never did that.

And before i forget, I think the only other fun part of the show was the Michelle disqualification.

Just like one of my local stations: a face-lift of sorts...

Safe Crackers: I don't know--those intros are irking me. The way Bob and Shay were planted on stage made me think an edit occured. Anyways, I was thinking weather stations like that ware around 550 or something, promptimg me to set 670. It didn't work.

The Temptation of Price: A Vibe is around $18K, so that was easy; between the 3 and 0 for the 4th number was also easy. I had a feeling it would be 0 in the end, prompting me to bail out. Hard grunting groans came out when Michelle had it right all along.

Plink-lo: I still sometimes wonder how excited the contestant and audience get when Rich prepares them. Maybe they like the plinking chips; I do.

Squeeze Play: I just didn't think that 3 could be anywhere in the price. I was wrong.

Money Game: At the start, I was trying to eye the truck decal on the logo. They did. I thought this time, an odd number like 44 or 56 would not be the last two numbers in the price. Wrong Again.

Hit Me: Okay, we got half of a disastrous situation out of the way with Patricia's escape. I knew the Capzasin would have the ace, but I was so confused between the Windex and the Polident. I would have tried the Windex. I would need a surplus of it if I caused a skunkout on this game. I was surprised that Patricia picked the Polident with confidence and won. The day has just got better.

Rich's announcement that "The fourth on-stage contestant was found to be ineligible..." sent chills down my spine.

I can't explain why.  It just did.  :-?

You're not alone, Coinboy. The moment Rich's voice came on I felt a shot of something in my gut.

Anyway, I did some checking and to my knowledge the last time an ineligible contestant passed through the cracks was back in Season 27 on January 25, 1999. That person also played the second pricing game - also a car game, but failed to make it past the showdown. All she "won" was a dollhouse from the One-Bid. Turns out this person had been on the show 15 years previous.

Um, I could of swore that the 2500 slot was in the TNPIR '94? If not, where the heck did I get that idea from?

TPIR94 did have $2,500 Plinko slots, but they were in place of the $100 slots, not the $1,000 slots.

You know, there's something everyone seems to have forgotten about...this episode had an e-ticket plug instead of a regular ticket plug.  Wonder why that happened.

Disqualification? Why? Didn't she win before? Wasn't she under the age limit?  Did this ever happen before?

Not a bad show..

I felt bad for Michelle until I found out about the disqualification.

That was a be-u-ti-ful win in Hit Me!

Was it just me or was Bob rushing things (especially in the first half) for no apparent reason?

SAFE CRACKERS:  I've noticed that the past FEW times that this has been played that the big doors were already open and the game already revealed, unlike how they used to wait until Bob and the contestant were standing next to it to do the reveal.  (So, now if we see them stand off to the [our] right of the CLOSED doors, we KNOW it's 5 Price Tags!) Still, the shot angle was strange, as we saw just the word "Safe" flashing up there.  Seems like they're doing all sorts of little things to save a few seconds here and a few seconds there; the show feels more rushed every day.  But, back to the game...  I don't consider $670 and $760 to be that significantly different, but that's the way Safe Crackers has been lately.

TEMPTATION:  Wow!  A bailout that could've won (ignoring the ineligibility thing).  Can't remember last time I saw that happen.

PL!NKO:  I have long since stopped getting excited when I see this.  Besides TnPIR'94 having $2500 slots in place of the $100 slots, they also did swap the [then] $5K and zeroes once.  That's what we really need on the daytime show now; we could actually see someone walk with $20K, $30K, or $40K easily!

SQUEEZE PLAY:  Had a feeling she lost this one...

MONEY GAME:  I would have won this one, only because they seem to have a tendency lately to use "oddball" numbers (i.e. those not ending in 0 or 5) as the last two in the car, so 44 and 56 stood out as obvious choices for me.

HIT ME:  At last!  Someone who has done their Hit Me (and math) homework!

As for the ineligibility, besides having to have NOT been a contestant on ANY version of TPIR at any time in the past, there is a limit to the # of OTHER game shows that you can have appeared on depending on the time frame within which you appeared on said shows (can't remember the exact #s, but I've heard it often enough waiting in line @ CBS).
