There you have it folks. Price Season 34 has reached the finish line. Somehow we beat
last year's tally by just a hair. I had my doubts, but we did it. Anyway, the time has
come to shutter things up for awhile. As usual, we dole out the thank yous to...

- Bob Barker, whose service to this show and the entire TV industry is indelible,
- Roger Dobkowitz, who continues to amaze us even when we think we have him beat,
- The models - regulars Lanisha Cole, Phire Dawson, Gwendolyn Osbourne, Rebecca Mary
Pribonic, Rachel Reynolds, Brandi Sherwood, Shane Stirling, and Gabrielle Tuite,
plus one-timers Aly Sutton, Mylinda Tov and Nikki Zeno - underappreciated and
undeservedly uncredited as they may be, for adding their beauty, style and class
to the proceedings...especially at those times when we really need it,
- Rich Fields, for putting his vocal stamp on the goings-on,
- The Price staff for all their organizational work,
- The technical and backstage crew of Studio 33, too numerous to mention, for keeping
    this well-oiled machine chugging along,
- Marc Green and company for staking enough claim on the web for this forum to even
    exist,
- And, finally and most importantly, all of you for hanging in here with me all
season, despite my occasional screwups and such.

The next time we meet will be the day Price Season 35 begins - somewhere around or in
the second half of September (either the 18th or 25th). Interestingly enough, about
the time this show goes off the air in Hawaii production commences on same - and
when's the last time that happened? Let's hope things stay on schedule from this
point. For those interested, the summer rerun schedule through late August is posted
to the Anomalies/Reruns sticky in this forum. Check it out and enjoy.

With that, having finally and in no particular order completed our tasks, Price Season
34 is now adjourned sine die. See you in September, gang!

...and then, there were none.

In Spelling Bee, Philip was referring to WFMY (http://www.wfmy.com/), the Greensboro, NC CBS affiliate.  As those who watch Price on "channel 2" know, the former station manager there had a tendancy to regularly interrupt programming at any time for local breaking news, seemingly caring not the severity.

Back in the day when game shows started at 10am on CBS, one watching WFMY could miss the entire morning lineup of games just because of a miles-long traffic backup on Interstate 40.

Back on topic, that was a great playing.  Hats off to Philip in Spelling Bee and Cyrus in Check Out.

Great show to end the season today. Great contestants, Bob was great, everything about the show today was great.

Spelling Bee: Fantastic, enjoyed Bob and Philip's banter and Bob's explaining why Philip chose as he did. Congrats to a loyal friend and true. Hands down (IMO) Philip is the best contestant of the day.

BTW: Was it me or did things get back on time very quickly after Pushover and Switch??

BBTW: It isn't very often the quickies are played back to back. Not that I mind either it just gets them out of the way that much sooner.

Switch?: I would have Switched and lost. Goes to show what I know.

Check Out: Wow, when's the last time we saw a playing this impressive? Cyrus was quick and decisive with his decisions.

One Away: In my opinion, this should not have been lost today. At least I didn't think it should.

Range Game: I thought that TV was around $3000 myself. Boy,was I wrong.

Showcases: I thought around $31,000 for the truck showcase and $16,000 for the snowmobile. I was right in my thinking as it turned out. Cyrus's reaction said it all when Bob revealed the ARP of his showcase.

Anyways, great show today, too bad this ends it for the summer but there's always reruns to hold us over till September. Great job with the recaps Joe as always.

I'll now begin the countdown until the new season. Ciao.

I'd say if I had to choose 2 contestants for Contestant of the year, Cyrus & Phillip would be chosen.

Well, I know there won't be any new recaps for the show until close to the end of september, so I'll occasionally come in and check in on you guys. If you want to join me in any TPIR wrestling (just for fun) in the chatroom, let me know! (snickering laugh)

Philip made Spelling Bee more interesting than it's supposed to be!  He was likably insane, and he had all those odd reasons for picking each of the numbers he was choosing (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile3.txt)!

Anna was very enjoyable too, particularly her little chat with Bob after she came on down.  It's really too bad she didn't have any luck once on stage.

Cyrus was enjoyable too, and seemed so on-the-ball with Check-Out, so I'm glad he managed to win it.  He seemed to lowball on his showcase bid, but then again, it was a lot cheaper than I thought it was going to be.  I thought for sure the showcase had to be over $40,000.

Well, it took all the way until the very last newly-shown playing of a pricing game this season, but we actually got to see Range Game revealed properly, as Anna was coming on stage!  And it's even cooler when they do the zoom-out thing for the Range Game reveal, like they did today!  So yay!

And I wouldn't mind for Olivia Overkill do more overkilling, coming all the way to New Orleans just to meet me (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile3.txt)!

Spelling Bee-Philip was a great contestant.  I liked how he had a reason for picking a certain number.  Now, he can go home with a car.

Push Over-I thought the boat was $8625.  I was dead wrong.

Switch?-Seeing how airfare to Acapulco is cheap, I knew they should stay where they were.

Check Out-Wow!  Only 16 cents off!  That is one of the best playings ever.

One Away-I knew he lost.  That Mustang did not seem like it was $22,000.

Range Game-I thought the TV was around $3000.  I was wrong.

Showcases-I thought the Truck showcase would be more expensive.

Overall, a good show.

Can't wait 'til September!

Spelling Bee: Ah, significance. Sometimes works on another show, doesn't it? If I was on, I would pick 2 also for the same reason. A great way to start this show with.

Push Over: I was looking for a price that ended in either 5 or 0. 3210 seems too low and 8625 seems too high. I was lost here.

Switch?: This time, paying attention to the distance rule made this easy for me to leave them.

Check-Out: Wow. Just wow. I probably would've had a hard time with the Cat Chow (between $3-$6) and the Gold Bond (around $6-$8, I said $7 for this one).

One Away: At first, I thought we would do good. When it was only three right, I wanted to change the 6 and 4 immediately. After seeing three 2s, I now figured we would be in trouble... and trouble we got. (...and gonna get)

The FFBC caught the Katy, and left me a mule to ride.....

Range Game: Sometimes I get caught up with that sound that I sometimes I do not pay attention to the numbers on the scale. When I noticed Anna stopping the Rangefinder a little higher than I expected, I had a feeling she might lose.

Showcases: It was kinda weird when the closed captioning called Sitesa "Front and Center" during the beginning of the segment. I had a feeling Cyrus might win this--I bidded 23 for this one. Oh, to be 10k short of a happy ending. ...

But I must say I also had a decent time with a season chock full of fun 'n games. There have been some great episodes and some that we may want to forget ([under breath] like the one on my 23rd birthday on 2-23-06). I also want to thank this wonderful show that entertained my school and work breaks, and basically gets my day going. I usually feel a little down if I missed (or tape) an episode. But I know I have several hundred (maybe even over a thousand episodes) to cheer me up. Thanks again. I am definitely looking forward into being a part of the next season even if all I do is watch and post on this great site. This Priceless Summer can help me organize which episodes I have this season and what to watch out for until Spetember.  Just great.

Now it's time for me to enjoy the summer in more ways than one!  Happy Summer everybody, especially those at CBS! 8-)

Joe, Cyrus' guess on the Hot Pockets was $2.89, not $2.49.

Cyrus did very well with the playing although I didn't think he was going to win because that powder looked no where near $8.99.  I thought it was going to be around $5, but I knew he was either close or exact on everything else.  Philip was great also.  I liked his stories on the reasons for each of his card choices and of course he did well with the small prizes.  Shane's outfit in the first showcase was also really funny.

Spelling Bee:  Philip was a little hysterical for my tastes, but who am I to judge how people react when they participate in a once in a lifetime thing like being a contestant on The Price is Right.  He did play Spelling Bee well.  Has anyone ever had 3 or more Rs in their 5 card Spelling Bee hand before?  There are only 6 Rs in the distribution, and he had 3,a pretty rare occurrence.

Push Over:  I thought it was 8,625, along with Sitesa.  We were both wrong.  7,321 didn't see right to me, but it was.  That shows how much I know about pricing boats.

Switch?:  It was painfully obvious that the prices should not be switched.  This was made to win.

Check Out:  This was amazingly played.  Only $0.16 off, that's amazing.  I was $.99 off.  An amazing win.

One Away:  Three 2s would definitely be incorrect.  The 6 and the 4 should have been changed.  I first said 22,622 giving me 3 right, of course doing the "try to get only one number right" strategy.  I definitely would have changed the second 2 and the last 2, giving me a win.

Range Game:  I would have started my range at 2900, figuring the TV would be 2999.  I was incorrect, and so was Anna.  Oh well you can't win them all.

Showcases:  I definitely thought Cyrus lowballed.  24,600 wouldn't even cover the truck, let alone the spa and the trip to Italy.  I bit 34,166 off by 610.  It was no surprise that Sitesa won.

1. Spelling Bee: I think Philip's gone nuts! I've never seen someone this excited since Karen "Pool Table For Dan, Whammies You Can Drop Dead STOP!" Martin in a 1984 Press Your Luck episode! C-A-R! You'll NEVER stop the excited contestant revolution, Dob!
2. Push Over: In order to end the season--nope. Loss #1 of 6/27/06. Ouch. A car was won, but not a boat.
3. Switch?: YES! Another excited contestant! The Dob has 3 retries left (sorry for the video game reference--the word "retries" appears mostly in the Ridge Racer series).
SS#1: $.95 for Sitesa...wanted Philip to win the Showdown, but was MRRP!ed (bad!) But what's this? A NEW way to go to The Price is Right next season? Online? What happened to the "CBS Television City, 7800 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, 90036" running gag? This running gag made TPiR popular in its days, and now they're GETTING RID of it?!
4. Check-Out: Jim Ross (shouting): "The Dob is cheatin'! The Dob is cheatin'!"
This is the hardest game to win on TPiR EVER!! Someone get a WWE referee to disqualify The Dob! We don't need the stinkin' WWE ref, 'cause Cyrus Stopped the Dob. $.16 is the closest a player has gotten in the history of the game. Whew!
Check-Out: The aftermath - Did I hear Rich laughing in the background?
5. One Away: That Darn Dob is up to NO good again! (*Blooper committed--Bob failed to move one number and it was stuck*) He succeeded. Who would've thought that THAT Mustang was $20,620?! Has Bam Margera got to his ear again?!
6. Range Game: Another Dob-possessed game with the Range Game running gag. I thought Anna was going to play Magic #, but boy was I wrong. THE DOB CHEATED AGAIN! I always like to say when Range Game is lost, "This NEVER happened to Bam Margera." 'Nuff said.
SS#2: Cyrus got $1,000--and STILL beat The Dob!
Showcases: Olivia Overkill? What's next--Jun Kazama? (Sorry--Namco won't let The Dob or Fingers get away with THAT! :-)
2nd Showcase: Another blooper committed (one of the mechanics failed to reveal the prize behind the snow equipment). Also this is the "runner-up wins" type episode. Awww...
Final Remarks: An OK episode--though I really think that TPiR naming a showcase character after Jun Kazama is WAY out of the question. Mind my great sense of humor--didn't mean to offend anyone.
MY SCORE: 6 (Two young contestants never made it out of Contestants' Row: -4, Philip NOT in Showcase: -2. The Dob lost ALL the points for cheating)

See 'ya in Season 35! ;-)

Congrats to our own TPIRCOUSIN on winning the last car of the season today in Spelling Bee!!!!  Now you know what he looks like, if you didn't catch me on today's show, I was the one in black shirt that Bob pointed out because I was going nuts for Phil in the audience!!  It was a great show and a great start to our fun filled TPIR week in LA!!  Congrats to you again Phil, and I am so EXCITED that I got to share your experience with you!!

That's not a "running gag."  And the online ticket plug has been around for months.  Heck, it seems lately, they've only been showing the "classic" ticket plug once a week, on Wednesdays.  It's nothing new, really.

Actually, lately, Grocery Game has been a lot harder.

...'nuff said?  I don't even understand what any of that meant!

And Racer, I don't think you understand what "beating" the Dob means.  Winning a pricing game or a showcase isn't stopping the Dob by itself.  It's only when a pricing game is set up to be lost, though the contestant wins it anyway.  There're a few other situations as well, like pricing game slotting, but for your purposes in using the expression, that's what you need to know.

Spelling Bee- Gosh, Philip, way to not show excitement. ;-)

Showcase Showdown #1- Ouch. The Big Wheel gets back to its evil ways on the last day of the season. Even worse, it shot down one of our own.

Check Out- Very well played. You can't do it much better than that.

Bidding Round #6- The 250th and final hottie of Season 34, Danielle (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/3235/250danielle627060fj.jpg)! :-D

Showcase Showdown #2- I've finally figured the Big Wheel out... comment Bob, and it will be good to you. :-)

Showcase- Wow. A showcase on steroids to end the season. Cyrus got burned.

BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY- Philip. I believe that's the first time I've given this award to one of our own! :-)

SHOW SUMMARY AND GRADE- Not the most fantastic ending to the season, but still, it was nice... Grade: 2

Let's see how our season finale went.

Spelling Bee: I t was very interesting to see Phillip pick # that correspond with his event.  It was also interesting to see Phillip go Bonkers when he won.

Pushover: I had a feeling that Sitesa pushed way too far. :-?

Switch: I would have swapped.

Checkout: Well played by Cyrus.  BTW, from our Golden Gallery, it was sometime back in 1990 where a lady nailed all five grogery products PERFECTLY.

One Away: I knew Sean lost once he left the sencond 2 alone. :-?

Range Finder: I Would have stopped between $2700-$2800 and won barely.

Showcases: I would have went with $35,000 on the Ram, and suffered a painful overbid by $224.  $24,000 wasn't close.

Overall: Another fun show to wrap it up this wild season.

I'll be back next year!  Thanks, Joe!

Today's playing of Spelling Bee was the best I've seen in a long time.  Phillip was such a good contestant, and I liked how he came up with reasons as to why he chose the numbers he did.  It makes the random guessing of this game more fun.

I'm not entiretly convinced that Sitesa knew what she was doing in Push Over.  It seemed like she just went and pushed the blocks until she went as far as she could go.

Cyrus was pretty good in Check-Out.  He ended up with such a small difference by having priced the grocery products closely  and not just from off-guessing.

Speaking of Check-Out, this is the second day in a row that two Gold Bond products appeared in the same episode.  I still don't get how this happened.

Still speaking of Check-Out, Bob's reaction to Roger's disagreement over the smallest-difference win was priceless. :-)

And for the record, has there been a playing where the contestant won with a one cent difference?

Bart, I like how you've deciced to show the Range Game board before the prize reveal again, but please don't fade to the board.  I can't describe just how bad it looks.

Well, now that the season's over, I'm kicking into high gear with tape trading (so don't hold back on clicking the link below).  At least around here there'll be Pricing Game Reviews all summer. :-D

Very good show to end the season.

Philip was a very good contestant. I liked the reasons he gave for picking each of the numbers. Congrats on winning the car!

Check-Out was played very well.

Once again, this has been a great season with lots of fun events, and more wacky lineups. Let's hope Season 35 is just as good. Also, thank you Joe for the recaps.

Spelling Bee: Philip was a GREAT contestant! He was responsible for one of the most fun playings of this game ever! I think we've got another Contestant of the Year nominee here, folks.

Pushover: Another contestant realizes that the price of the prize can be at the end of the line, and it backfires.

Switch?: Another game for two trips? Fairly easy.

Check-Out: Fantastic win! That guy was lying when he said he didn't shop! And I'm glad for once Roger kinda knew something about history that Bob didn't, but they still didn't know about the two perfect playings in the past.

One Away: Nobody would have thought there were two zeroes in a car's price.

Range Game: Tougher than usual. I didn't think the TV was that cheap.

Showcase: Cyrus knew his groceries, but not on everything else here.

Overall: Decent season finale. I wonder what Season 35 will have in store for us fans. See ya!

This was a good way to end the season.

Spelling Bee was very good today. His reason for picking the numbers he chose were amusing. I'm happy he won.

$8625 was my first choice for the sailer, but Sitesa didn't look sure about what to do.

Switch? was easy. Nice to see it played for two trips on the finale.

Cyrus did a great job with Check-Out today! And a difference of only 16¢! Good for him!

I must say that One Away was tricky, but it could have been won. I don't blame Sean for thinking it was $22,000 because Ford Mustangs look more expensive than they actually are.

I said $3099 for Range Game today. Nice to see it revealed the right way today.

I just want to thank Joe for his great recaps of the shows all year long. We had a great year, and hopefully season 35 is better than that.

Gotta' disagree here.  I think it looks a lot better with the fade.  Maybe it's because I'm used to the fade for every other pricing game that's revealed before the prize, but regardless, I definitely think it's better with the fade to Range Game, then slowly zooming back, rather than the simple cut.

*sigh* The last episode of Season 34... I sure hope there are a bunch of G-R.net Live Shows between now and Season 35 to fill the void.

PG #1 - Bee first?!  When was the last time Bee was played first?  When they revealed the cheapo Cobalt, I thought Roger would play Shell Game!  Philip had the most interesting card-picking strategy ever in this game's history... and it worked perfectly.

PG #3 - Very easy.  No way in Hell a trip to Alaska is gonna be cheaper than Mexico.

PG #4 - WOW!  Somebody finally schooled the Dob in this game!  16 cents!  :-D  And I love that the Dob finally told Bob "no" when asked if 16 cents was the closest anybody had ever come in this game.  A one-penny difference might've happened before, but I doubt that it happened in 1977 or 1978.  The game didn't even premiere until 1982!

PG #5 - Once again, a contestant overprices a Mustang.  The lack of options made it obvious that this car would not be $22,000.

PG #6 - That fade-in shot of Range Game has to go.  And second of all, how was anybody supposed to win this game today?  The top of the range finder started at $2,750 and the price of that TV was only $49 above that!

My showcase bids - Truck:  $35,600.  Random room/snowmobile:  $16,700.

Spelling Bee was last played first on January 4.  Looking at stats, it's been first surprisingly seldom this season, but then again, it's not been played much lately period.  Spelling Bee first isn't really that unusual, though.  Personally, I'm more curious why it's virtually never played in the second half of the show, yet Master Key and Switcheroo usually are.  I mean, those games are more worthy of first class... err, first half treatment (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile4.txt).

Well, with Credit Card for instance, a fade to a close-up shot of the logo and then zooming out is acceptable, but fading to some random shot of the top of the Range Game board and then zooming out does not work with a fade.  The way the Range Game board should be revealed before the prize is a cut to when Bob and the contestant approach the board with it completly in the shot, as it was before Bart messed with it.

To Philip Cousin:

Nobody deserves to win big and have his life forever changed more better than you. You played "Spelling Bee" very well and your unique picking ways paid off!! I'm so happy for you. I congratulate you. Hope you enjoy your Chevy Cobalt. Congratulations!!!

Great Show. Great Season. Thank You Bob, Rich, "Dob", The beauties, the whole staff, Marc, and the G-R crew.

Happy Summer and God Bless!!

I've got to tell you... This was one of the best episodes.  A great lineup, fun and exciting contestants, and Bob was really great today.

Philip, I was rooting for you all the way.  Your excitement at just being at the show was obviously genuine. It was very exciting to see you win.  I was really hoping you'd make it into the showcase.

Cheeck Out:  It's really quite obvious that Bob really is impressed with anyone who wins this game, but he really made a big deal over Cyrus' 16¢ difference.  His reaction after asking Roger if that was the closest ever and being told no was priceless, and then to continue talking about it after the break...

Phil, you were a great contestant!  Very glad to see you win your game.

Check-Out was amazing.  I don't get to say this too often, but Cyrus played it very well.

I got a huge kick out of Roger actually disagreeing with Bob. (http://www.golden-road.net/grnoldx/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif)

"Olivia Overkill." (http://www.golden-road.net/grnoldx/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif)

Because of the cancelled tapings, something very interesting happened today -- something that I would venture to say has not held true since August of 1972:  for a brief period this afternoon, every episode of The Price Is Right in existence had been broadcast.

Quote
Nick wrote:  And for the record, has there been a playing where the contestant won [Check-Out] with a one cent difference?

Actually, there are at least two shows where the contestant's totalled equalled the real total.

Showcases: Olivia Overkill? What's next--Jun Kazama?

Final Remarks: An OK episode--though I really think that TPiR naming a showcase character after Jun Kazama is WAY out of the question. Mind my great sense of humor--didn't mean to offend anyone.

I so want to mention "League of Their Own" when describing Spelling Bee.

The chance of drawing a C, A, and 3 R's is about 1.7%.  Drawing a C, 3 A's, and an R (for demonstrative purposes) is nearly 6% more likely.  Just drawing three R's is only likely to happen once every 26 times.  (Incidentally, I set the likelihood of the "Triple Car Win"--C+A+R+CAR+CAR in any order--at 0.51%)

What does all that mean?  That win was damn impressive.

Who thought that they should give a title graphic to their idiosyncratic Showcase characters?  I honestly don't think it's worth it.  I guess it's kinda nice, but it almost seems like they're explaining the joke (whatever little joke there is).  Meh.

And incidentally, even if you assume all surfaces are sterile, would running a nut over with a truck still leave you with something inedible? :P

TANGENT TO CHECK-OUT: I thought the cat food was 1.59 and not 3.99 and my total ended up being 2.40 under.  ><

Anyway, that win was so good, I joked in chat that it was a "Double Check-Out Win".  Didn't go into the bells and whistles, but you get the idea.

Bob got shot down.  Priceless :D  OH SNAP!

You know, I think a penny win would be more impressive than an exact win.  I mean, any dedicated soul can regurgitate the prices; it takes a lucky sunuvagun to be off by a penny (or a jackhole who decides to be off on one product by a penny to prove a point)

It's 2AM so thinking's in short supply, so I'll end with this: If I were to reference video game characters, I'd use someone people actually knew, like Sephiroth or the Arbiter.  My roomate played Tekken for most of the spring semester and the only names I can remember are Jin, Hyorang and Xiayou.

Also, history has proven that people who excessively mention video games don't last long here.

I've yet to watch this episode (it's on tape, and I'll watch it sometime today).. But I just wanted to offer a few thoughts... And it may turn into a bit of a speech, sorry. :-P

Phil, congratulations on not making it onto the show, but winning! I am certainly looking forward to seeing that. :)

Somebody give him a star!

Well, as Vin Scully says, that's all she wrote. Season 34 is now in the books. And what a season it's been... Great wins. Heartbreaking losses. Stupid contestants. Hilarious hijinks. A few malfunctions and blunders. And of course hundreds of zany Barkerisms...

And what a special season it's been for me. Just as Staples Center will never again be "Another damned shiny, sterile sporting venue with a corporate name" (as of June 3, 2006, it will forever be for me the Arena Of Dreams, the place where dreams come true, the place where this Madonna not only saw THE Madonna perform live, but for one brief moment crossed paths with her), Season 34 will not be just another number or another season, but THE Season Of Dreams...

It'll forever be the season where The Price Is Right went from being this magical, exciting TV show to a very real experience... Where I was able to watch the magic unfold before my very eyes... Where I sat in the same studio where Johnny, Rod, and Gene once did their thing - and did it so well... Where I not once but TWICE got a reaction out of Rich Fields for "doing the math" and telling him he's much younger than he really is... Where I asked Bob Barker about the price of his freaking pants because my readers haven't stopped "bidding on Bob's pants" since January!

I mean, if June 3 was the night that finally proved to me "Yes, Virginia, there really is a Madonna Ciccone!", November 16, ***5 was the day that proved "Yes, there really IS a Bob Barker!"

What a season, one I'll never forget, one that'll always hold a special place to me. The only things that could've made it more special would've been me stepping up on that stage, and Barker's Beauty for a day Mrs. Ritchie.

I want to offer some things of my own:

Bob, for another great season (as well as a few special memories of my own)

Rich, for the joy you do your job with (as well as your comments when I've made those wisecracks)

The Dob, for keeping us on our toes...

The models, of course, even though I can't keep up with half of you

The staff and "pit crew", for keeping this such a well-oiled machine

Mike/Starcade, for joining me on those three trips to Mecca

Joe, for the amazing recaps

All of you, for all your great replies and insight on what we watch unfold

Here's to another great season in the books, and let's hope we can kick off season 35 with a bang!  :-D

"Actually, there are at least two shows where the contestant's totalled equalled the real total."

Just in case anyone is interested, one of those totals is $7.95, back in late 1991 or early 1992. The contestant had $7.06 going into the final item, and Bob commented about how he didn't think that was good, then a bar of soap was 0.89, and Bob said, "$7.95?!  You got it exactly right!!" in a state of disbelief.  I agree that Cyrus played well, but there have been MANY contestants closer than .16.  I was very glad when Roger disagreed with Bob on that one, made my day actually. :)

Interesting note: channel five in Las Vegas is KVVU-TV, which for a while became the only independent station in town before it took the Fox affiliation. I can only presume KVVU aired programming from CBS when KLAS-TV channel 8 preempted it.

Until some other time, all...!

Hey folks,
I'm starting to catch up on shows I've recorded but haven't watched. My schedule's changed from graveyard to afternoons so it's been a little tough to catch the shows lately, with that and other things I've had to take care of. Anyway...

Spelling Bee: That was a wonderful win.

Don't worry about it, Phil, you were a great contestant. I was glad to see you win. Quick Question, what channel 5 were you referring to? (My quick guesses: WRAL in Raleigh, KPIX in San Francisco...)

Joe_Mello wrote: (Incidentally, I set the likelihood of the "Triple Car Win"--C+A+R+CAR+CAR in any order--at 0.51%)

How many times has that happened? I know it's happened at least once a couple of years ago, I've seen the clip at TPIR.tv.

Thought - personally, I find SP games where you have to actually price the the SP out of the blue, with no prices to choose from, a bit nerve-wracking. Of course with time and paying attention, it's probably not so bad.

Pushover: At first I thought it would be the usual EOL price ($8625) , however, I started thinking that the Dob might pull something out of left field here for this playing, and lo and behold he did. I'm bad with boats anyway.

Switch?/Switch?: No switch for me here.

SCSD #1: Vicki's "false alarm" scream was hilarious!

Check Out: Good work by Cyrus. The evil Cat Chow was the only thing that tripped me up a bit. Funny that the bag was lying almost on it's back for this playing...

LOL The Dob actually disagreed with Bob? *GASP!* and ROFLMAO...

One Away: I kept saying "change that second 2" over and over again. Sean didn't hear me.

Range Game: Once I got that "she's going too long" feeling, I knew Katy had lost.

Showcases: Wonder if Olivia Overkill's friends with Lucy Longway?

Quote
Joe_Mello also wrote: And incidentally, even if you assume all surfaces are sterile, would running a nut over with a truck still leave you with something inedible? :P

Definitley not edible. Snortable, maybe, but not edible.

I figured Cyrus had super lowballed on his showcase. I bid $33,500 on his, while I (over)bid $17,000 on Sitesa's showcase.

And that ends that. The 34th was quite a season loaded with lots of fun, games, good contestants, bad contestants, last month's DSW streak, the birth of Balance Game '06, the February 23rd mess (which I have yet to see), the perfect shows, and the non-daytime show related stuff like the last MDS airing and the Game$how Marathon entry. It's been fun, and I look forward to season 35, when hopefully I'll be able to get out to L.A. to catch a few tapings.

In the meantime I'll catch up on the recent shows I've missed, and maybe try my hand at posting a recap in the retro-TPIR section if I come across a complete show in my tape library.

Happy Summer!  :-D

Title: I Meant WRAL 5
Post by: TPIRCOUSIN on July 10, 2006, 11:20:36 AM
Exactly, Ferdy.

I meant to say WRAL channel 5.  I should have told Bob that I ACTUALLY watched the show since I was four years old, because it became a CBS affiliate about 10 days before my 4th birthday.

I don't know what I was thinking, lol!

But, yeah, I still love the show regardless.   :-D
