Title: Rare local only Family Feud from 1991-92 season
Post by: pricefan18 on September 17, 2020, 11:28:14 AM
Came across this last night and found it really interesting. It's a Combs era Feud that was done strictly for the Seattle area (confirmed by the uploader who was part of it) involving two local news and radio networks there. I didn't know this type of thing was done before. Makes me wonder how much other stuff like this exists and has just not been seen. Enjoy!

In 1983, Wheel of Fortune filmed some Ohio-specific episodes at the Ohio State Fair to promote its then-new syndication run. They aired only on a few Ohio-based stations that had picked up the show proper.

I remember reading about that, but didn't realize they were locally aired only. I though for a long time, they were the premiere shows basically. Wonder if it was a test run as much as anything. I could see that. What I'd give to see some of those shows though, both for the rarity of it, and also the novelty of them being aired at a State Fair. That setting had to provide a really interesting backdrop, especially in 1983.

Oh wow, it's even more unique than I thought......reminds me of the original Shoppers Bazarr pilot.....that and the public access style test run shows Bill Cullen hosted for the QUBE interactive network. Thanks for sharing these :)

For anyone interested in the above, here's the rest of the photos from that set via archive.org, since the original no longer works (Look out for the shirtless contestant, certainly wouldn't ever see THAT on a regular show lol. Also note the super low dollar amounts on the wheel, ever thought you'd see a $5 space? Certainly not me!). https://web.archive.org/web/20150905150529/https://www.10tv.com/content/photo-blog/2014/06/1983-wheel-at-ohio-state-fair.html

Gee, you think it was entirely possible they aired the SYNDICATED version?

$5,000 instead of $10,000 makes sense for a local special.

Look at who the poster is, that should explain the seeming obliviousness to the obvious.

There was NOTHING oblivious to my question. I think it was perfectly valid to question why it was on KOMO-TV, had the CBS format, and the CBS Television City text notice, but yet KOMO-TV was never a CBS affiliate.
