I wonder if this is what our TPiR would have looked like if Syd got his way.

I know no Spanish, but I could pretty much tell what was going on.  It seemed like the whole show was a big commercial for the Chedraui supermarket.  Marco Antonio Regil seems like a pretty good host.  I like how he did the Barker false reveal during Hole in One.  And what was with the contestant doing the inspiration putt?  I love their version of the losing horns.

Of course, Marco is a good host.  He was one of the many candidates to take over our Price when Barker retired.

A) For someone that's new to watching Mexican television, that's usually the norm for shows like that.  Remember, however, that game shows in the old days used to be just like that - a major sponsor had advertising all over the show.  I'm not necessarily against that if it helps the budget out but there's a point of over-saturation.  What wasn't brought up here so far - and I'm digging - was the PiP (picture in picture) sponsorship for the Chevy.  Some on the board probably won't like it, but I think the current producers should offer it if it helps the budget out once again.  You're still showing a car - they get a four-to-five second logo showing, everyone's happy.  Besides, with the equipment they have - it wouldn't be too hard to do.

B) Agreed; he's no Andrew O'Keefe but he's pretty darn close.

Looks good; I hope I get to see more episodes. Marco is always a top-notch host, and I'm glad this set doesn't look like a cheap recreation of the American version. It also made me giggle that this version managed to combine video screens and big doors, which would have made our Stateside debate moot.

Lots of games have debuted on TPiR since the demise of the old Atinale, and towards the beginning Antonio mentioned that this version would have a mix of classic and new games. On this show we saw the Marco's-version debut of Flip Flop, Balance Game, and That's Too Much!

Flip Flop became "Aguila o sol?" which to us would be like "Heads or Tails?" (...although they call it "Eagle or sun?", which, if you looked at their coins, would seem totally reasonable.) So, for each half of the price, the contestant has to decide whether they would rather show "heads", 39, or "tails", 93.  Marco elaborated that you can have "Heads/Heads", "Tails/Tails" or "Tails/Heads", but "Heads/Tails", the original price, would be wrong. It's a small but interesting twist on our version. The one bad thing I can think of to say about it is that it clouds the issue of whether the mysterious "Domino Game" from the previous Atinale was supposed to be Flip Flop or not.

"Balance Game" becomes "Contrapeso", or "Counter-weight". Nothing was too out of the ordinary here, except the platforms on the balance were too small for the money bags. I was practically biting my nails waiting for that big bag to fall off the left side.

"That's Too Much" translated as "Esta Carisimo", or "It's Way-Expensive". Wihle Marco's hosting is usually extraordinarily faithful to Barker's, he comes up with a more succinct explanation of TTM!: "As long as the price is lower than the car, that's OK, but on the first one that's higher you have to say "Esta carisimo!" Also like Barker, Marco specifies that you have to shout it, "like you're offended".

Did you notice that because of the one-player showcase, the two showcase showdown winners have to have a spin-off, which Marco notes, is not for prizes? That was the only change I didn't like. While we're on the subject, the car awarded for getting $1 in the bonus spin was a really-loaded Camaro that would've been expensive even for the US version. Without having checked for the correct exchange rate, I'd say it was probably worth over $40,000US.

Actually, as per XE.com, it was US$36,959.

I love hearing the everyone shout ¡¡UN AUTO!! Looks like they've also decided to omit the first commercial break as well.

Interesting that their top prize on Plinko is only about $8,000 US.

Also sounded to me like they borrowed our "Scale" SFX from Balance Game.

Their budget in general isn't close to ours (except that the Showcase Showdown's Camaro is easily worth more than $25,000). Their IUFBs are mostly in the $200-$400 range, pricing game packages vary a lot but are around $1,000-$2,000 (sometimes above or below). Punch a Bunch is played for $30,000 MXP and It's in the Bag is for $40,000; US$2,500 and $3,300 respectively. The cars are also cheap by our standards; some are barely worth $10,000, and most of the time they're below $15,000. (And with their 6-digit prices, they're also harder to win.)

The audience and contestants look like they're having a lot of fun, regardless.

The first six episodes are all up on that user's YouTube account.

You might notice that in 6-digit Cubre-Precios/ Cover Up, there is only one choice for the first digit, so the game is basically the same as the 5-digit version.

So much for that, since the videos have been removed...only to be put on another channel: megaAtinale100.  You can also find videos of 100 Mexicanos Dijeron, although I find the host for that much less tolerable than Marco.

There's still someone else posting them, a user named MegaAtinale100.

I've been following this series very closely, ever since I saw Marco on "Que Dice la Gente?" on my local Univision network and because, well, Spanish is my first language. He's a terrific game show host and you can tell he learned a lot of what he does by watching Bob. The only part I don't really like is the Showcase portion, simply because they adapted the Davidson way of doing it. There was a lot more suspense when they had two "gran paquetes".

No, they didn't.  The "Davidson way" is to play Range Game.

My mistake, Steve. I was referring to the range finder used to determine how close the contestants have to come to the price.

The more Atinale al Precio I watch, the more I love it.  Granted, I have no idea what they are saying as I don't know Spanish, but if you anything about Price you know what they are playing.

Here's some observations:

- I like how they reveal where the top amount was in 5 Rounds (Punch-A-Bunch).  They also show what each key opens in their version of Master Key.

- The mountain climber has a name.  Pancho.  Awesome!

- The showcase (or Gran Paquete) leaves a little to be desired.  It's Press Your Luck meets the showcases.  Of the 8 episodes I've seen, it has only been won twice  (or dos times).

- I love the set.  To me the old Precio set was a very cheap knockoff of the American version (at least the big doors).  This set works for this particular version.  The floor is a bit busy, but it still works.

- I have to say that Marco Antonio Regil is the best international host I've seen (way better than Joe Pasquale or Carlos Lozano to name a couple).  I don't say this to intentionally ruffle any feathers, but I would even go so far as to say he is the second best host of any version, behind Barker.  Even with the language barrier, it is obvious he is a student of Barker.  He said it all in an interview during the first Precio run - "The contestant is the star of the show.  If you try to make jokes or look good it's not going to work."  He's also a snazzy dresser.

- I love the theme.  It's been stuck in my head for the last several days.  It's also funny that there are two versions of the losing horns.  I like them both.

- Again, I have no idea what he is saying, but I also like the announcer, Julio Cesar Palomera.  I haven't seen much of the original Precio, so I don't know how he compares with Jaime.

Overall, I have to say that I think Atinale al Precio is my favorite international version of the show.

Oh, I agree, I am HOOKED on Atinale.  Even better for me, since I know Spanish, so this will be my way of keeping up my Spanish without taking any classes.   :-D

Again, I have an issue with El Gran Paquete--a spinoff to get there?  C'mon, really?  But everything else works.  Marco's been away from the show for quite a while, but he's still got it.  Although I liked the twist on the American theme they used in the last version, I love the theme music for this one--it's very catchy, and I found myself humming it earlier today.

As for Julio vs. Jaime...they sound the same to me, and they're both good.

They made it horrible with a host who is comedian dressed up as his character he made famous, Vitor.  They also have celebrities playing the main game for families and then the winning family only gets to play fast money.

As for Atinale al Precio, does anyone get a vibe of the American theme just sped up a bit?  I'm talking right as Marco is introduced.

The new theme doesn't sound anything like the American theme.  You might be thinking of the Atinale '97 theme, which was a remix of the original theme (and had another version which pretty much was a sped-up version).

the 2010 Atinale may have more Pricedown dollar signs than our current set here in America.

And that's WITH the Showcase podiums.

Thanks for this had no idea this was returning and with Marco! to Canal de las Estrellas, so glad I can watch online, I lost anyway to watch Canal de las Estrella Europa or XEW-TV itself awhile back.

As for the best international host debate, I think that to me goes to Larry Emdur closely followed by Leslie Crowther then Marco. Although If I could understand Spanish better, Marco might be up there with Larry. Marco does have a young Bob Barker feel to me.

Someone needs to put a bug in his ear and tell him to upload it on Google video or Mega video. They wont delete it and they allow longer viewing time.

Thew new host of 100 Mexicanos Dijieron is annoying i thought Vernon Kay was annoying he makes Vernon Kay look like Les Dennis.

My international host would be
Leslie Crowther
Bruce Forsyth
Larry Emdur when i first saw him i couldn't stand him now i like him!

Here's some more random observations:

 - They played "El Tiempo es Oro" (Clock Game) on Monday's show.  They went to a digital clock for this incarnation of the show.  I think it would be hard to concentrate because they play this weird beeping during game play.  It's worse than the Pyramid winner's circle beep.

 - There sure are a lot of Chevy Aveos offered so far.  It's usually that or some weird compact Chevy that doesn't have a name.  The cars that are offered if someone gets a peso in their bonus spin have been nice, though.

 - It's nice to see Bart Eskander has a job again.  The directing and camera shots leave a bit to be desired.  I get motion sickness during the opening.

 - On Monday's show one of the contestant's names was Shaggy.  It was funny to see Marco ask the contestant if he was named after the character on Scooby Doo.

 - Does anyone know when these episodes were taped?  On last Wednesday's show during Hoyo en Uno (Hole in One), Marco called the contestant the Tiger Woods of Mexico.  That just made me laugh.  Also Marco's reaction to the contestant missing the second putt by inches was priceless.  He got on the ground and tried to blow the ball into the hole.  When that didn't work, he knocked it in with his nose.  In case you didn't know how I feel, Marco Antonio is AWESOME!

CONFIRMED: The perfect bid bonus is MX$1,000.  A cash register "cha-ching" is the equivalent of the clanger there.  Also, three short buzzers sound for a 4-way overbid in the row.

I have see that win and it was really cool.

Also in episode 22, we have the premiere of Digito Adventura (Any number). Interesting that the first two numbers are given and the decimal place is X.XX (in other words less than a dollar US.) Also the price of the small prize is less than 1000 pesos...

First two numbers given = pure random, like Money Game in old French Price. Should have given the first and the last (old French version gave the last).
Don't mind the small prize less than MXP1,000.

I caught one episode on Youtube for the first time, last night! I'm impressed at the show. Marco Regil truly is the Mexican Bob Barker.

I think the episode I saw is the one with the "Pasa El Peso" win that someone mentionned earlier. I find it odd that they played some sort of siren (kinda like the clang-whoop), but it was truly well done. I actually like how Marco flicks the number up to reveal what's underneath.

And I dunno why, but I smile everytime the crowd chants "Pe-so, Pe-so, Pe-so" on the first spin. It's just cute, I guess!

Funny moment on the 10/18 show: even though a player lost "Vamos a Mitas" (Half Off), the box still had some bills in it that someone forgot to clean out.  So she got however much money was actually in the box (I'm watching the show now, and am not sure how much was actually there).

The October 20th show is up, featuring an excellent playing of 3 Strikes in the second half.  These apparently were posted by the official "Canal de las Estrellas", so I wouldn't count on them going anywhere (knocks on wood).

Unfortunately, a quick look at their channel says that they're only going to be posting three programs, passing up Atínale for 100 Mexicanos Dijeron (with a rather irritating host).  That's not to say they won't change their mind if we ask them, though...

Some of these foreign versions make me wonder if the US version should tweak some of their games based on the gameplay. For instance, I've never seen a four-digit safe before on Safe Crackers, but the element of a second chance was just unexpected. In reality, since you are given the first number for free, really makes this game almost a shoe-in to win, especially if there is a 0. It would be more fair to either get the first number free but no second chance, or to use all four numbers, but get a second chance.

Having the tens digit on all prizes in Switcheroo with three 3-digit prizes takes away the pricing element of the game, and really just makes it a crapshoot there. That's something to watch out for.

Mexican currency/prices are completely different than our, thus making some of their game very similar.

I Predict that there will be a mexican version of Pay The Rent, Rat Race and Gas Money to Atinale al Precio which will takes place soon.

^Atínale already has a version of Gas Money called "Tanque Lleno" (Full Tank).  The cards carry MX$4,000, 6K, 10K, and 15K for a total of 35K pesos (so that you'll always have a full tank, says Señor Regil).  It was almost won once, but the contestant bailed before the final card (and, as it turns out, he had the car all along).

Speaking of Atínale, the 10/22 show is up, with a spectacular playing of "Uno arriba, uno abajo" (One Away).

I wonder if Atinale's "records" are any more accurate than Price's are. :)

^Well, Marco's got less history to work from...he only has to consider the original Atínale (1997-2001) and the new one since April of this year, as opposed to Barker's 35 years.  That being said, having never seen a full show of the original Atínale, I'm not sure how accurate they really are.

I'm sorry... Was it just my imagination, or does Dijeron open their show with a censored image of their host sitting on a toilet? Surely I'm mistaken.

I just can't get enough of Marco yelling "iSÍ SEÑOR!".

^It's not your imagination, that's true.  And the show's name is actually Dijieron, which (as per Marco himself) is kinda...I dunno, low--in other words, "dijeron" is the proper word, but "dijieron" is considered sub-standard Spanish.  Apparently it fits into the whole scheme of El Vítor's character...I don't remember exactly what Marco told me, though.
