Title: MSTie's "Can't Do That on TPiR" -- THE END
Post by: MSTieScott on June 30, 2006, 05:05:00 PM
I'm back and ready to host another episode of "The Price is Right!"

The theme of this show is "You Can't Do That on TPiR." Which means that all of the prizes and showcase themes in this episode will be things that the producers of the real show would never or could never do. Same pricing games and rules, but everything else is foreign to the the daytime series we know and love. Ready to break with tradition? Let's go!

Because I don't have computer access on the weekends, I'll only be updating this Monday through Friday. To help keep the episode up to speed, there will be a 24-hour time limit for all responses. This 24-hour time limit will not be in effect during Saturday or Sunday, since I won't be here to enforce it.

As is my custom, contestants will not be randomly selected. You will have to audition for me and please me enough to call your name. And since I really enjoyed your responses to the caption audition from last time, let's do it again!

For your audition, please write a caption for the following picture:

(http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/2329/captionme9ji.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

Narrate what's going on, or put words in somebody's mouth -- it's up to you. Contestants will be selected based on humor and creativity, so make me laugh.

Because of the July 4th weekend, the game will start on the morning of Wednesday, July 5.

Good luck!

And the actual price of all of that stuff is... $778! sideshowPA, you're our first winner!

(http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/6195/onebid19ar.gif) (http://imageshack.us)

Sideshow, you've already won the video games and posters. Now you have a chance to win these:

A supply of chemicals and new airplane brakes!

From Quality Biological, 100 liters of methylene chloride Baker Analyzed ACE reagent. Overexposure may result in a variety of adverse health effects, including liver damage.

And from Rapco, manufacturer of quality replacement aircraft parts, aircraft brakes for a Citation 500 with linings that exceed the original equipment manufacturer's performance standards.

Take a look at the prices on those prizes:

The chemicals have a price of $1,024. And those airplane brakes have a price of $1,209. But those are both bargain prices. You tell me which price is the bigger bargain -- which one is more below the actual retail price -- and we will give you both of those prizes! Which prize is it?

CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG

Whoa! I wasn't expecting that sound to show up in this episode! One of you has bid perfectly, and for doing so, will receive a $500 bonus!

The money and the crossbow go to the contestant who bid... $660! BuddyTom, it's yours!

(http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/666/onebid22ql.gif) (http://imageshack.us)

You gave that bid with such conviction. Have you seen that crossbow on this... on another show before? Or are you an expert when it comes to weapons and I should really, really hope that you win your pricing game?

At any rate, this is a fine time to be up on stage. Because you could win this:

A new surrey!

(http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/4685/pg2surrey6tz.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

From Great Northern Livery Company, an auto-top surrey. Comes with standard equipment, including channel and rubber wheels, 36-inch seats with vinyl upholstery, and driver-body entry steps. Plus eight-inch hydraulic brake system, front and back foot rests, and rear safety lights.

(http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/7426/pg2horses6vd.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

And from Equine.com, two-year-old and three-year-old gelding Quarter Horses. Both are registered with the AQHA and the three-year-old is a sire of Skys Blue Boy, a two-time Congress champion.

But that's not all you can win. You can also win these:

(http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/3812/pg2owlpellet9ff.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

This advanced owl pellet dissection kit comes with 15 owl pellets and educational paperwork for 30 students.

(http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/8647/pg2travelmug3hw.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

This stainless steel travel mug features translucent padding and the logo of the hit ABC series "The View."

(http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/8526/pg2underwear6bm.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

A five-pack of disposable men's briefs made of 100% cotton. Wear them once and throw them away. Perfect for traveling.

(http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/3681/pg2software0xs.gif) (http://imageshack.us)

And this computer software allows you to secretly record all activity on someone else's computer without their knowledge.

You can win all of that playing Switcheroo.

(http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/3679/switcheroo17nq.gif) (http://imageshack.us)

As you can see, we have the prices of each of those prizes on the board here. However, one number is missing from each price. Those missing numbers are on these blocks. Just place the correct blocks in the correct prices, and you'll win!

No 30-second clock, of course, just the standard 24-hour time limit. Go to it!

Now, as I understand it, the Golden-Road.net bylaws state that all members of the site must be able to understand the rules of Check Game within one month of joining. Since you've been here for more than a month, I can safely assume that you know how to play, so I'll just tell you that we're using the standard $5,000 to $6,000 limit. Write that check!

Why do you all want Pathfinder to lose? There's money at stake here! And even more importantly, my perfect show!

You've written the check for $2,500, so we'll light that up here.

(http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/6041/checkmath11ng.gif) (http://imageshack.us)

Now, the all-important question -- what is the price of that trip?

(http://img481.imageshack.us/img481/2243/checkprice8hd.gif) (http://imageshack.us)

$3,410, for a total of!

$5,910! Now here's a Check Game player! You've won $2,500 and you've won the trip, which you may or may not take! Congratulations!

Our first Showcase Showdown is next!

Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to point out that the three contestants standing next to me are all winners! And now sideshowPA, Pathfinder2119, and BuddyTom will spin our big wheel to do even more winning!

Each of you in turn will give me a number between 1 and 20. That number will be used in a formula to determine where the wheel stops. If you figure out the formula, then you could skill the wheel onto the dollar like so many contestants on the real show have tried (and usually failed) to do.

And of course, the one of you who is nearest to one dollar without going over will be in our showcase! And who knows what we're going to be doing there!

SideshowPA, you'll be spinning first. And since the theme of the show is things that would never be done on the real "Price is Right," I will be gently poking all of you with this pool cue while you spin the wheel.

Spin it! (poke)

One dollar! (Scott raises the pool cue in the air, forgetting the task at hand) You've won $1,000, a spot in the showcase, and a bonus spin!

As I reset the wheel, let me remind you that the green sections are worth $5,000 apiece, and that dollar is worth $10,000! I'm going to assume that since it's needed (albeit in a different sense), I should use your 18. So here we go!

(notices pool cue) Oh, whoops. (poke) Okay, the wheel is on its way... (poke) This might be close... (poke) This might be close! Slow down! (poke) Slow down! Stop!

$5,000 more! You've won a total of $6,000 here, all of that stuff in your pricing game, and you might win even more in the showcase!

Does this look like fun? It is! And getting tickets is really easy! Here's how:

To order tickets online, just go to etix.cbs.com. It's that easy! Back to you, Scott.

More excitement after this!

Welcome, Alfonzo. You picked a good time to be called and immediately win, because this is what you're playing for:

A used car!

(http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/7465/pg5oldsmobileup7.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

The 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue GLS sedan. This car, with 72,500 miles on the odometer, is in excellent physical condition. Comes with standard equipment. Plus power sun roof and DVD system. The Oldsmobile Intrigue. The retail price reflects the Kelley Blue Book suggested retail value.

And that will be yours if you win Cover Up.

Yeah, but I'm fairly confident that the producers wouldn't try to give away a 2001 Oldsmobile. Heck, you're not even going to see that 1966 Mustang on the show.

I'll go... that way (to $7,286).

Contestants not appearing on stage will receive...

A gift certificate. LobsterGram is a unique way to send great gourmet gifts of succulent lobster, crab, shrimp, or tenderly-aged meats. Shipped fresh from LobsterGram. 1-800-LIVE-LOB.

And a ticket to this afternoon's taping of "The Price is Right," in which members of the studio audience win big. Tickets accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis; having a ticket does not guarantee admission.

And now here's MSTieScott with our Showcase Showdown!

Thank you! I can see that LiteBulb88, BRB_TheFireball, and Alfonzo are all ready to spin our wheel for the possibility of money and a spot in our showcases. As you all know, the goal is to be the closest to one dollar without going over. LiteBulb88, go to it!

Ladies and gentlemen, our top winner is BuddyTom! And our runner-up is BRB_TheFireball!

Each of you will have a showcase full of... prizes to bid on. The one of you who is closer to the retail price of his own showcase will win it. But if you are the winner and you are $250 or less away from the retail price of your own showcase, you will win both showcases! Hunh!

Tom, since you're the top winner, you have the option of bidding on the first showcase or passing it to Fireball. And this is our first showcase!

This showcase will get you completely drunk off your butt. Of course, to accomplish this, you'll need plenty of alcohol. Which is why we're giving you this collection of wines!

(http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/1435/sc1wineee3.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

100 bottles of Smoking Loon pinot noir. This fruit-driven wine is a brilliant garnet color with a seductive rose petal green tea aroma. From Don Sebastiani & Sons.

So go ahead and get going by popping one of those open. While you begin chugging that one, store the others in this new wine refrigerator.

(http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/5216/sc1winefridgeht6.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

This 13-cubic-foot wine refrigerator with adjustable thermostat holds up to 100 bottles of your favorite wines.

And to ensure that you look as dignified as you can look while getting totally wasted, drink your wine from this exquisite stemware.

(http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/1825/sc1stemwareud1.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

This exquisite 32-piece collection of crystal stemware features a sparkling wedge and leaf pattern.

Finished that first bottle? Good. Here, why don't you have a seat so you can concentrate on downing the second bottle... at this new bar set!

(http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/7252/sc1barsetdt3.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

Entertain family and friends with the elegance and opulence of this bar from Pulaski Furniture. From a golden era known as Edwardian, it features a laminated marble top and brass-plated foot rail. From Pulaski Furniture.

All right, now you should be good and hammered. So please, whatever you do, don't get behind the controls of... this new excavator!

(http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/2699/sc1caterpillaruu2.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

The Caterpillar 301.8C hydraulic excavator. Comes with standard equipment, including 18-horsepower diesel engine. Plus three-inch seat belts.

And this showcase, where tonight you're going to wish we had offered you a toilet, can be yours if the price is right.

There you go, Tom. Whose showcase is it?

Well, I can't drink with my medication, so I'm going to pass this to Fireball and hope that my showcase deals with something like drugs or violence. :-D

Sex, drugs, and Rock & Roll......sounds like a showcase theme to me.

I know the bar set is about $4500, and I think Jay Lewis used that excavator....

I stopped drinking last year, so I have absolutely no use for any of that wine.  Or that wine refrigerator.

I'll bid $40,000 even.

$40,000 it is.

Tom, here is your showcase!

This showcase is designed to give you cancer. And it starts with you getting lung cancer by smoking these cigarettes!

(http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/9779/sc2cigarettesrk0.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

From eSmokes.com, 50 cartons of Marlboro Full Flavor Kings. These rich, smooth cigarettes provide pure tobacco satisfaction.

Next, get skin cancer by spending too much time in this tanning bed!

(http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/1701/sc2tanningbedlv7.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

Turn a deep, golden brown in this indoor tanning bed. Comes with 24 midday sun tanning lamps, adjustable gas spring lifts, and dial timer.

Or if you don't like enclosed spaces and would prefer some fresh air, lie directly under the sun on the deck of your new party boat!

(http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/7901/sc2partyboatib4.jpg) (http://imageshack.us)

An ElectraCraft 16CSI with tandem axle trailer. This fifteen-and-a-half-foot party boat seats nine adults and comes with a portable ice chest for refreshments.

And this showcase, which will cause you to die a premature, slow, painful death, can be yours if the price is right.

Well... there it is. Tom, what do you bid?

Tom, we'll start with you. You bid $26,008 on your showcase. The actual retail price is...

$28,039, for a difference of...

(http://img275.imageshack.us/img275/417/sc4gv1.gif) (http://imageshack.us)

$2,031. Not bad at all.

Fireball, you need to be closer than $2,031 to the price of your showcase in order to win it. As you'll recall, you bid $40,000 even on your showcase.

The actual retail price of your showcase is...

Forty thousand... three ninety-three! You win with a difference of only $393!

(http://img274.imageshack.us/img274/5964/sc5rw7.gif) (http://imageshack.us)

What a bid!

Tom, who was going to beat that kind of bid? You didn't win your showcase, but you won lots of prizes in your pricing game and I hope you had fun.

(http://img280.imageshack.us/img280/9631/sc6kl3.gif) (http://imageshack.us)

Fireball, you did it! You're taking home $50,678 in prizes today! Congratulations, and thank you for playing!

This is MSTieScott reminding you to help control the pet population -- have your pets spayed or neutered. Good-bye, everybody!

(As the credits roll, Scott encourages Fireball to get in the seat of the excavator. He then runs out of the studio.)

AWESOME show, Scott!  I don't visit Play Along very often, but I've been dropping by a couple times a day for the last few weeks to check on this thread.  This is easily the funniest show I've ever seen, or at least the funniest one that was actually trying to be funny (as opposed to being funny because of how badly the host bungled it).

And for what it's worth, my audition that I never posted (because I always forget about these things):  "It's not worth risking your own life, too, Scott!  You'll never reach him before he passes 25!"
