Golden Road- Is it me, or did we play this not very long ago? Seems like it hasn't been that long. Either way, that was a pretty painful loss. I really wanted her to win.

Bidding Round #2- That has to be some of the worst bidding I've ever seen. That $426 bid was about the easiest bid in history.

Obligatory Grand Game/Punch a Bunch- Wow, $10K on the first punch! Nice cleanup for the Golden Road loss.

Bidding Round #3- #225, Jennifer (http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/3061/225jennifer65067so.jpg)! :-D

Bidding Round #4- Hahaha, I love Timothy's shirt.

Bidding Round #5- #226, Ashenputtel (http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/6237/226ashenputtel65066nt.jpg)! :-D

Pass the Buck- Hey, that was a pretty good reveal by Sean. Trouble is, we don't have male models on TPIR... and that's a good thing. ;-)

Showcase Showdown #2 and Showdown- NO!!! My DVR totally screwed up, so I missed practically most of this. The only thing I know is that Sean won the Showcase. Other than that, I missed everything in between. Ugh.

BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY- Latoya.

SHOW SUMMARY AND GRADE- A good show today, but besides that Punch a Bunch win, nothing too spectacular... Grade: 2

Even if Latoya wanted a car, she seemed pretty darn happy with the motorhome.  And the trip to Bangkok:  considering her extreme reaction to that trip, I was surprised she passed the first showcase.  Then again, she seemed to react the same way to the boat in the second showcase, so I don't think she was too picky (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile2.txt).

Yay for the Punch a Bunch cues!  Three of the four classic Punchy cues used for the small prizes, and the Plinko xylophone cue... that's the best we've heard for the Punch a Bunch cues in years!  Maybe one of these days we'll get all four (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile2.txt).

Speaking of Punch a Bunch, I love how Bob did the slip reveal today, going behind her so she couldn't see while he showed the audience (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile3.txt)!

Still speaking of Punch a Bunch, are Punch a Bunch and Pass the Buck conflicts?  It seems like they would be, since Pass the Buck is essentially a scaled-down, weaker version of Punch a Bunch.  I'm surprised they'd show up on the same episode.

Make Your Move absolutely should have been won!  It was the easiest playing in years, with 6 combinations.  309259188.  The snowmobile obviously wasn't $3092 or $2591, so that eliminated three of the combinations.  The snowmobile had to be $9259 or $9188.  If the snowmobile were $9259, then the chair would have to be $188, so we know that the snowmobile had to be $9188.

So that leaves just two possible combinations left.  Either the DVD is $30 and the chair is $925, or the DVD is $25 and the chair is $309.  Let's not count that we all remember the DVD from Five Price Tags on Friday:  it's a new item and it's unlikely even a loyal viewer had the price memorized when this show was taped.  The chair is obviously $925, and not $309, and as such, even without the price of the DVD memorized, it has to be $30, since there's no way the chair could be $309.  So someone tell me how the heck this game was lost!

For whatever reason, I find Ashenputtel to be a really pretty name.

And you know, considering the prizes in the second showcase were all based on mistaken drawings, I can only guess the true value of the showcase should've been $0, since none of the prizes had any real meaning anymore (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile3.txt)!

I missed Golden Road. I had to go to the doctor.

Punchboard-Finally Susan managed to punch out $10,000. The other good part was that the $10,000 dollars was punched on the first hole.

Make Your Move-Ugh! Jennifer had it right the first time. The moment that Jennifer changed the swivel rocker and the dvd I knew she had lost.

Barker Bargain- The moment that Timothy chose Boston I had a feeling he had lost.

Pass the Buck- Ouch, John listened to the audience and it ended up costing him.

Golden Road: Given the way things have been going this season for this game, something in my mind was hoping it would not be won today, since the big prize was a motorhome. I would have messed up on the second prize, thinking the digit was 6 (who would have thought a popcorn cart was so cheap?). The motorhome price was the obvious tossup between 8 or 9. Too bad Latoya picked the wrong one. Well, at least thanks to this, this season's playings of Golden Road will be remembered for giving away automobiles and no boats or motorhomes! Really, that's a nice change of pace, IMO.

Punch-a-Bunch: This game escapes from the winless-for-the-season club! And on the first punch! YAY!

Make Your Move: This should have been won. We all knew the DVD was $30, since I saw it the other day.

SSD1: A Golden Road player gets into the Showcase! And wins $1,000! Now, maybe she'll win that car she desired...

BBB: Tough break. I thought Boston was a sure winner. So much for it being pretty expensive all the time.

Pass The Buck: The grocery portion was fairly tricky today for a player, so it should come as no surprise Sean didn't do as well today.

Squeeze Play: Another tough loss. I clearly thought it was $7,995.

Showcases: Latoya just couldn't buy a break today. I thought she won after she made her bid.

Overall: Decent show today. If only there was more winning today...

Golden Road: I was a little confused and nervous between 3 and 6 for the popcorn cart. I never thought to use another number again. I thought for sure it would be 8 instead of 9 again. Oooh, what a loss.

Punch-A-Bunch: All that was on my mind was for someone to win $10,000 on this game before the season's over... And it happened today... and on the first punch to boot!

Make Your Move: I'll admit I did not see the prizes, but I did see the game setup and I soon as I saw DVD, I knew it had to be the $30 Dumbo DVD. I knew a loss was coming when Jennifer added a wrong move.

Barker's Bargain Bar: At least I knew the Red Sox would be more valuable than the Braves. (Just kidding, of course) However, I had a feeling Boston would be about over 4K and Atlanta around 2K. Boy, did I make a wrong prediction and choice.

Pass the Buck: Who did Sean listen to in the audience? Somebody obviously gave him wrong choices. I just didn't think the car would be in the corners--maybe 2 or 5. Boy, was I wrong again.

One Bid 6: ..At least the members of the FFBC knew this Katrina was coming.. (apologies for any offense)

Squeeze Play: Again, I missed the prize, but seeing the game setup, especially the 79695 setup, I knew we were playing for a $7695 Gem Car.

Sixth one-bid: What could the rationale possibly be for bidding $1 under the previous high? I've seen it so many times. Was Carole trying to get the price on the nose or what she thinking if the price was, say, $675 she thought she would win, forgetting that the object is to not go over??

LOL,heels,thanks for mentioning me!

Did I tell ya all?  I said on the chat room--I believe last week or so--that Punch-A-Bunch would get its first win since Pick-A-Pair got its first loss!  I didn't know I was psychic!  Well, Punchy deserves another win since PAP got its second loss.  We just have to wait and see, do we not?

Before I go on, you all get to see my new avatar!  I made it a couple weeks ago.  You gotta be a Hulk fan to like it, though, I guess.  *shrugs*

All in all, a typical Monday show.

Well, if nothing bad happens tomorrow(you know what the date is), I will try to make it to the chat room.  Later, all!

Golden Road:  The popcorn cart would have tripped me up on this one too (prices on these things seem to vary wildly, but this is the lowest I've seen one.)  When they got to the motorhome, it really was a tossup between the 8 or 9, and Latoya just happened to get the wrong one.

Punch-a-Bunch:  Who would have thought that the punchboard would be the only thing preventing a skunking on this show?  Nice reveal by Bob on the $10,000 though.

Make Your Move:  That $30 DVD sure seems to be tripping up a lot of people lately.

Pass the Buck:  Is it just me, or do people seem to be flubbing the grocery items a lot on this these days?  On the other hand, this was a bit tougher setup than usual.

Show #6397

Showcases
Entering the showcases, Brandi ($19,962) & Phire ($19,974) were only $12 apart.

Showcase #1
Magnussen Home Valenza Dining Room - $5,895
Noritake Chatelaine Platinum Whitebone China & Alere Stemware - $2,955
Shari's Berries - $1,000
Trip to Bangkok, Thailand - $6,961

Speaking of the Valenza collection, I wish Price would offer a Magnussen Home Valenza Bedroom Group again (retail value $6,760).  They have not offered one since September 26, 2005, yet Magnussen still makes Valenza bedrooms today.

Showcase #2
2 Motorola Cellular Phones - $260
Connelly Coronado Pool Table, which never appeared in 2005 -  It last appeared on December 1, 2004 with a price of $4,395
Chaparral SSI180 18' Ski Boat - $25,000

Modeling Report for June 5, 2006
Shane Stirling
Total - $119,007 Top Ten, #4!
Won - $17,400 (14.62%)
Lost - $101,607 (85.38%)
Record - 3-6

And Shane is starting the week off with a bang!  Her total of $119,007 is a guaranteed weekly high and also the first six-digit modeling total on the new boards, and it's a DEAL!  This drops Brandi's total from October 17 ($92,918) from the top ten.

Phire Dawson
Total - $26,935
Won - $10,052 (37.32%)
Lost - $16,883 (62.68%)
Record - 4-2

Brandi Sherwood
Total - $59,467
Won - $17,138 (28.63%)
Lost - $42,329 (71.37%)
Record - 10-6

Brandi modeled a record 16 prizes today!  We haven't seen a Barker's beauty model that many prizes since 1995!

All 27 prizes today totaled $181,565!

Golden Road: I would have never guessed that the popcorn cart that was $1389.  On the motorhome, I would have guess the 8 and still lost.

Punchboard: I loved Bob's sneaking the 10K slip behind Susan's head.  And YES, we have our first 10K win!

MYM- I had a hunch Jennifer would lose once she moved the DVD to 25 and the rocker to 309.

BBB-I had a hunch Atlanta was the bigger bargain.

PTB-I would have had trouble on the Gold Bond Powder.

Squeeze play-I knew the 1st 9 had had to go.

Showcases: Wow, I was surprise LaToya had a good bid on the FRBS.

Overall: It was a good show today.

Budget mode?!?!?!  No way, Jose.  Golden Road was played for almost 75K in prizes, Punchy had 10K won, Make Your Move was played for over 10K in prizes, Bargain Bar was played for two trips, Squeeze Play was played for a prize that was nearly 8K, and there was a 30K showcase!  This episode was anything but budget mode!

It's a present for us, the viewers, who don't have to put up with such a contestant getting up on stage.  For that reason, it doesn't bother me (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile5.txt).

Make Your Move was probably the most expensive it's been since that time they had an Jeep Eagle thing.  (They did do that, right?)

Punch-a-Bunch was quite the amusing episode, from the danicing contestant to Bob being as secretive as ever.  She certainly was good enough to win.

I like the team effort to remove the PTB tags off.

Golden Road: Ouch! Ouch! I would've gone with the 8, too.. That's never a fun way to kick off a show...

Punchboard: ...but that helps! The drought is over! And I had a sneaky feeling when Bob started his routine that she had punched out $10,000, and not just $5,000...

Make Your Move: And it started so good.. Why did you change, Jennifer?! :-?

Bargain Bar: I would've picked Boston, too... Just one of those days, sans Punchboard...

Pass The Buck: I like this game, but one thing I don't like is the free pick. Sean's guesses were terrible, and still he wins $3,000...

Could've been worse: He could've taken 6 with the free pick.

Squeeze Play: Pull the first 9! First 9! Oh, dear...

Showcases: At least after some poor playings and poor luck, we didn't get a DOB today...

I was thinking $16,000 for Sean's showcase (definitely not "fourteen hundred").. I was also thinking $26,500 on Latoya's showcase (needless to say, it was a bit more than I thought)...

this was a bonehead show today.
golden road: evil! dob, consider that this is only played monthly, and you make it a 50-50 chance? i don't care WHAT you have at the end of the golden road!
pab: HAHAHA.......funny reveal. bob asks susan to turn around while he shows the slip to the audience. the reaction was priceless! from the moment he started delaying i knew susan had won 10k.
mym: apparently, jennifer doesn't watch the show. when i saw the dumbo i knew it was $30, and when i saw the snowmobile i knew it was $9188 (remember balance game?). so i would have made my move and celebrated before the camera could pan to the turntable! i am sure that everyone here knew this in half a losing horn.
scsd1: HAHAHA!!!!!!! SWEET REVENGE ON THE DOB!!!!!!  (and on jennifer). i have never seen such a less puny spin!
bbb: no reason for a loss. atlanta was screaming to be picked with the bargain price of $1387.
ptb: i can tell sean what to do with his $3k.....buy azo and gold bond until he KNOWS the price. i recognized both of those.
squeeze play: evil again! who wouldn't have picked $7995?
scsd2: i was hoping for ashenputtel to win after the dob embarrassed her.
showcases: great. another lowballer on a ski boat.

been lurking for a while but felt the need to post something

looking through some of the old archives, it looks like quadrupleplay = stydfan

stydfan also insulted contestants because they didn't have every price memorized and didn't know the 'paint sealant trick'

but anyways, todays audience really seemed to be wrong....Jennifer had MYM right before someone in the audience convinced her to change the prices

Sean was 'passing the buck' towards the right product but someone convinced him otherwise

does anyone think that if Triple Play had been won last week, would Golden Road have been shelved?

Overall, today's show was decent.

The Golden Road loss was painful. It was pretty much a tossup for the motorhome, and Latoya picked the wrong one.

It was nice to finally see a win in Punch a Bunch, and I liked Bob's reveal, too.

When Jennifer changed her mind in Make Your Move, I knew she had lost.

One-Bid #1 - Latoya!  :-P  And she gets to walk the Golden Road!  :-D  :-D  :-D

PG #1 - Another one of those exciting 50-50 situations on the final prize.  Sadly, I also thought 8 on that motorhome.    But I never would've gotten that far.  I had 6 on the popcorn cart.

PG #2 -  :-o  :-o  :-o  PUNCHY'S [d]CURSE[/d] LOSING STREAK IS FINALLY OVER!  And she did it on the first punch, no less.  Now if we could only get a win out of Temptation, a game that hasn't had a win since 1983...

PG #3 - Damn, Jennifer had this game won, but she let the audience talk her into changing it.

PG #4 - With a bargain price that low, ATL was just screaming to be picked.

PG #5 - After Sean went 0-for-2 in the GP portion, I had two thoughts.  One side of me wanted him to pull the car on his lone pick for an exciting win.  The other side of me wanted him to pull "Lose Everything" just so he could go down as the worst Bucky player ever.

PG #6 - *ugly golf cart comes out* "$7,695!"

My showcase bids - Big Banana:  $16,600.  FRBS:  $23,200.

Overall - Man, who ever would've guessed that the lone win of today's show would come from Punchy?!

Bob doing a different PAB slip reveal, in this case, just shows us naturally how the audience reacted.  Great stuff.  There's nothing that can be sweetened.

And at the end of the show, me seeing Bob and Rich Fields shake hands before the FremantleMedia slate came up was genuinely nice.  I wonder why?

does anyone think that if Triple Play had been won last week, would Golden Road have been shelved?

I don't think so.  The Big 3 normally get a sendoff playing in June.  I honestly think that 3 Strikes will make an appearance next week (providing we have shows left) to close out S34.

For whatever reason, I find Ashenputtel to be a really pretty name.

I can vouch for Ashenputtel herself being very very pretty!  Maybe that's it.. :-D

Well, this was certainly mind-blowing.  How often is the only game won all day freakin' lost-every-time-it's-been-played-this-season Punch a Bunch?!  That was insane!

Even though Golden Road wasn't won today, it's had a pretty darn good season.  Really, when the heck was the last year it was won three times?

Has anyone ever noticed that the audience gets completely stupid over basic math during Barker's Bargain Bar? (http://www.golden-road.net/grnoldx/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif)  Seriously, the last couple times it's been played, half the audience was applauding the loss!

"Ashenputtel" sorta loses something in the translation. (http://www.golden-road.net/grnoldx/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif)

Where the heck did Pass the Buck come from?!  Based on the last two years' worth of patterns, it should have been played last Monday! (http://www.golden-road.net/grnoldx/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif)

I was sure Katrina had Squeeze Play won.  Couldn't believe it when that 6 showed up in the actual price.

I got a kick of how when Rich couldn't find the Showcase winner during the credits, he shook Bob's hand instead.(http://www.golden-road.net/grnoldx/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif)

Um...what?

Hulk, are you seriously this badly in the dark about what your reputation around here is?

Even though we had lots of losses today, I still really liked it.

Golden Road - I KNEW that would be here this week! :-D

Punch A Bunch - I can't believe it!  The dark age is over! :-D

Make Your Move - This is what happens, folks, when it's perfect and you just don't leave it alone.

Barker's Bargain Bar - I would've picked Atlanta.

Pass the Buck - Sean didn't seem to know much, but those were tougher than usual.  At least he got $3000.

Squeeze Play - That $7995 sure looked tempting, but I knew it was a trap.

Showcases - Yay!  The Big Banana with a dining room.  :-) The second showcase was neat, too.  Two good bids, too.

Nah, she definitely knows it. She's just trying to play it off and act like it doesn't bother her, and that she can act as negative towards the show as she wants to act. Well, if she keeps being that way, she'll be taking a much-anticipated one-way trip to Banville, I assume.

Golden Road was a little disappointing. I have to admit, though, I think that she could have won a trip to Bayonne, NJ and been just as excited.

Best Punch-A-Bunch Reveal EVER!

The audience managed to talk some half-decent players into being losers.

Aschenputtel is the German for "Cinderella" but did you know:

"Cendrillon" is the French
"Cenerentola" is the Italian? :-D

I smiled with glee when I saw the $10,000. And I had a feeling it was something like that from the way Bob revealed it. And not only was it the first time the game has been won this whole season, but I don't EVER remember a time where someone got $10,000 with their first punch.

BuddyTom:  I know that "Cenicienta" is Spanish for Cinderella.

And I just talked to ssetta about the Summer 1986 special where Ann won the big prize on her first punch.

"And at the end of the show, me seeing Bob and Rich Fields shake hands before the FremantleMedia slate came up was genuinely nice. I wonder why?"

I thought that was cool too.  If you look closely, you can see Rich saying something to the effect of, "I'll just shake your hand, Bob," meaning he usually comes out and shakes the winners hand, but they were all too busy at the dining room set.  I thought that was a cool moment.

i was not insulting the contestants at all. it was the gameplay.

i wanted ashenputtel to win because the dob was evil to her.

a $3k difference will not win vs a splendido, so it could be lowballing.

if this has been posted before, know that YOU deleted it.

Anyone know the deal with the anonymous thing, anyway?  Why quaddy keeps going anonymous and back so often?  Anyway:

That's lovely that you've learned to tiptoe that line.  Even if it's marginally within the rules, calling the contestants as a group boneheaded is only slightly not as bad as calling specific contestants boneheaded.

When?  Squeeze Play?  No.

It could win.  It isn't lowballing.

What the [self-censored] are you talking about?!  I'm tiring of this.
