I'm a poor example for us all. Also, I needed some fun to escape the drudgery of working on this weekend's site upgrade.

I think the rule can be ignored this time around, this was probably the funniest thing that I've seen in a long time. Plus, I love Seth's handiwork. :D

This seems like as good of a place as any: I've been looking into upgrading the site's software for some time. SimpleMachines 1.x is old, and between native features of the software and plug-ins available, SimpleMachines 2 is just too appealing to not use at this point. Expediting the decision was banning 31 spammers in a 24 hour period.
As a result, I'm currently in the final testing phases for a rather decent upgrade to the site. The site will be running off of the new version of the current software. There *will* be a few minor to moderate theme differences, however, the new theme is being made to closely resemble the current site.
I'm going out of my way to make sure that all posts WILL be retained. I know in the past that's been a problem when the site's had an upgrade.
I don't have a firm timetable for when the upgrade will occur, other than it's likely to be either Friday or Saturday night - to minimize downtime and to give time to work out any necessary kinks before Monday's Price airing.
Any questions I'll be more than happy to answer.

Will there be a temporary downtime to migrate the new forums in? HYO considerations would have to be made for currently active players in those at the time, or a forced pause placed on them the day before with an announcement of when to resume.

Ideally, I want to go live with the updates tomorrow night if possible. Upgrade could take twenty minutes, or it could take six hours. I'm really not sure.

I'll link to this in both HYO threads. I'm currently in contestants' row in both and am taking that precaution in case I or anyone else end up due on a one-bid during the delay period, or particularly in the case of a PG where someone might only be available at that time of day and not back for another 24 hrs.
EDIT: I've updated both threads to alert the hosts and suggest a suspension point.
