Flip Flop- The moment that Timothy floped I had a feeling he had lost. On a side note I thought that Timothy was really fun during SCSD1.

Lucky $even-A decent win. Linsday got lucky when she guessed her last number.

Race Game- Dwayne did a good job!

Grocey Game- Ugh! In my opinion that couldn't have been played any worse than that.  

That's Too much!- Ouch! Adriana should have got on and played two more!

Flip Flop: Too bad. Timonthy's guess was what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure.

Lucky Seven: Fairly easy today, but that's not too surprising, given what happened earlier this week. First win in a while.

Race Game: He certainly knew how to play this game!

Grocery Game: Darn that Random Cat Litter! And this is the second week in a row this game has been played?

That's Too Much: After I saw the first price, I thought it was going to be easy, but it definitely didn't turn out that way.

Secret X: Easy.

Showcase: Both showcases were very nice today!

Overall: OK show today, but nothing totally special.

After how great a week we've been having, today was kinda' a letdown.  Nothing really wrong with today's show... just that, for the most part, nothing overly great about it, either.

I wonder what makes Grocery Game more special than Hi Lo and Check-Out lately that makes Roger want to make Grocery Game the impossible GP lately.

It's a good thing that Wayne caught Bob's mistake in Race Game, when Bob only handed him three of the four price tags.  I was afraid for a moment that we'd wind up with yet another technical win for Race Game.

She didn't play that badly.  She only bought three of the cat litter, which seriously, does not look over $7.00.  It was just a really hard playing of Grocery Game today, just like it's been for the past several months.  No reason to rag on poor Mary for it.

PG #1 - $6,320 looked a lot better than $6,302, so I don't think anybody was gonna win this game today.  I certainly wouldn't have.

PG #2 - Lucky Seven 2d!  :-P  And it was actually won!  :-D  This was probably one of the easiest L7 prices I've seen in a while.  Lately in this game, going high-low-high-5 has spelled disaster, but it worked perfectly today.  I went 7-4-7-4, so I would've won with $1 left.

PG #3 - Yay!  Phone Home Game cue in Race Game!  :-D  :-D  :-D  It feels like it's been forever since the PHG cue has been played in Race Game.  I know most of you believe that 200A is the right cue for this game, but I personally still believe that it should be the PHG cue.  :-P

PG #4 - Let's see--the prices of the products were $6.99, $7.37, $2.49, $5.99, and $9.95.  Unless you took 3 AZOs, you probably were not gonna win this game today.

PG #5 - Yep, we all called it in chat.  With all those options, that Vibe was gonna exceed $20,000.  Though I really don't blame Adrienne for stopping at $18,900--Vibes don't look that expensive.

PG #6 - Those were some strange SPs today...

Showcases - Yay!  Showcase '83 cue!  :-P  And when was the last time a trailer and a car were paired together in the same showcase?

Flip Flop:  I thought the trip was 6320 (flip and flop), like most people on this board.  I knew he had flopped when he flopped to 3602.  
 
In Lucky 7, I would have gotten every number right.  I guessed 8, 4, and 7, and thought, is this the 18,478 HHR, I guessed 8 and I was totally correct.  

I thought Wayne deliberated a little too much in Race Game, but he won, so my criticisms are moot.  

Grocery Game, I would have picked 3 Space Bags and won, but I like to play with the products the contestants pick as well.  Mary, however picked 3 Tidy Cats and lost.  I misheard and thought she picked the Azo, so I said five.  When Bob turned over the Tidy Cats price, and it was 7.37 I had a total of 36.85.  I think that's the highest Grocery Game total ever.  I was so over, I was in Canada.

That's Too Much:  I would have also stopped at 18,941, figuring the Vibe would be 18,500 max.  When Rachel flipped over the price and it was 20,356, that surprised me.  Usually Vibes on PIR aren't that much.

Secret X:  I'm glad it was won.

Showcases:  I was surprised John's showcase was that much.  I thought he had gone over.  I bid 31,425 on Timothy's.

Race Game today showed that you need to EARN the right to consult the audience.  Getting two right with a whopping half-minute left allows time for some mulling over.  However, you can't grind to a halt.

If you've watched enough playings of TTM (and Card Game, since the prizes are interchangable) you should know that the cars used typically run in the $20,000+ range, and that sometimes involves stuffing cars to the hood with stuff.  Adrienne's guess would've worked for a Vibe with only a couple options, but that's about it.

I don't know why so many people thought the trip in Flip Flop was only $3600.  It's freaking Barbados, not Mexico or some dinky place in the Carribean.

Mary had the right train of thought, but apparently was on the wrong track.

I never really noticed when or why Secret X was apparently put on this mini-retirement.  Could someone fill me in on that?

Flip Flop: Boy, what a flop! I wanted to Flop to make it end in 0, but wasn't sure if I wanted to Flip or not. Wouldn't have mattered because if I Flopped, I would still lose.

Lucky $even: Oooh, I like how Lindsey missed the numbers by one. When it came down to the last number, I said to go for 5. If it was 9 or 1 (or 0), that would have been pure evil. It wasn't.

Race Game: We know that looking at the Peanuts during this game is an absolute no-no, but Bob made it seem like that's a good thing. I'm not going to argue.

Grocery Game: I was still thinking of the Tidy Cats slip when I saw the litter. When Mary brought three of them, "It looks like she wants to do it all on one try." "It's over" when I saw that 7.

That's Too Much!: That's So Not Enough!
When I saw $18,941, I solely wanted Adrienne to keep going. I probably would have stopped on the right price or went on to the next one after that. If I did that, I probably would have realized I had lost and said, "That's Way Too Much!"

One Bid 6: I really wanted Angela to bid 2101 on this one, because I had a feeling it would be more than 2100 but less than 2500. If only those Peanuts from yesterday that helped Hilda would've helped her. I think most of us would've used that strategy. I wanted Angela to give us a magic # so she can get herself out of there. But Nooooo. She had to bid 1 instead, now look where it got her.....

Secret "X": I sometimes like to cover up (absolutely no pun here) the last row because it's seldomly used to give the reveal a little more interesting. It's almost like if the Secret "X" was actually on the board or not to make a winning line.

Flip Flop-When he settled on $3620, I knew he lost.  Trips to the Caribbean are usually in the $6000 range.

Lucky $even-Yes, a win!  The Chevy HHR is easy to figure out the price of versus a Mustang Convertible.

Race Game-It was interesting to see Bob not give the contestant the $2948 tag at first.  I'm glad he won.

Grocery Game-Painful loss.

That's Too Much!-I knew she stopped way too early.  Cars in this game are usually around $20,000.  But I liked the fact she could say "That's Too Much!" well.

Secret X-Played nicely.

Showcases-Well, it's interesting to see a trailer and truck together in the same showcase.

Overall, a pretty normal show.

Flip Flop – Another example of the audience giving bad advice. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes they can be a big help, but in this case they sure weren’t...

Lucky $even – YAY! A win! She played it very well. That last number was a bit of a “curve ball”, but she still managed to win!

Race Game – He may not have known how to explain the Race Game, but he sure knew how to play it. He had 17 seconds left too...

Grocery Game – That was quick. I knew she was in jeopardy when she chose 3 of the tidy cats. Those who’ve watched the show recently know the price of it and anything more than $7 is risky...

That’s Too Much! – I HATE this game. I wanted her to win too. Too bad...

Secret “X” – Very well played. Nothing more to say.

Showcases – Well, both showcases were more expensive than I thought, but I was closer to Timothy’s showcase than John’s. I thought John had overbid by a mile...

Overall, not a bad show. Some very good wins, and yet, some undeserved losses. Anyway, not much left of the season now...

I thought that there was nothing exciting about today's show.

I thought that Flip Flop was hard. My guess was $6320 for the trip.

Lucky Seven was good today. I was afraid that the last number would be 0, and that she would have lost. But good for Lindsey! It's only been one week since we saw it last.

I was afraid Bob would have forgotten about that fourth price tag. I only knew the prices of the banjos and the popcorn cart. But Wayne did good, and switched the right two to win.

Wasn't Grocery Game just played about a week or 2 ago? Anyway, it was a tough setup. If she took 2 litters and then a space bag, she would have won. I don't know why Check-Out or Hi-Lo hasn't showed up.

That's Too Much! was played the same day Grocery Game was played (6/14). Adrienne did okay, I mean I would have went one or two more depending on the price between where she stopped and the price Bob showed after losing.

Secret X was simple. But the dispenser was kind of hard to choose a price on.

Two expensive showcases today. I thought Timothy's showcase was around $28,000. Guess not.

In fact, wasn't this episode the true finale, meaning last episode filmed?  Next week's are rescheduled from earlier.

With that in mind I was expecting to see the long-awaited return of Penny Ante to active duty.  
Unless it is on Monday or Tuesday then they've duped us all. Long rumored to coming back this season...

Well, I'd better let you all in on this. As it turns out, this was not the final production of the season. MSTieScott informed me of this...

Seems next Monday's show was actually taped...Tuesday. That's right, the 20th. The original taping was scrubbed. So, as it turns out, the last show to be produced will air on Monday, followed by the show that would have aired on the 12th on Tuesday. After that, you're on your own for the better part of three months.

Keep circulating the tapes.

You guys know I try to avoid using this term as much as possible, but I'd have to say that Flip Flop today was an honest-to-goodness forced loss.  I can't see any way any reasonable person could have won that.

I'm not sure whether Roger was going for an easy win or a painful loss in Lucky $even.  Either way, though, it was nice to see it won on its last playing of the season.

This might be a first -- a contestant actually benefitted from looking at the audience during Race Game!

Mary didn't really play Grocery Game too badly for the short time that she actually spent playing it...she just got stuck with the expensive version of the litter.

That's Too Much! was just odd.  I'm not sure I've ever seen the fake prices distributed so evenly before.  I really don't know what to make of that.

I never thought I'd say this, but thank God for Secret "X"! (http://www.golden-road.net/grnoldx/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif)

Was anyone else disappointed that the first showcase ended without anything bad happening to Wanda?

Okay, I think I know what happened here.  At any rate, I've got a guess.  According to the airdate schedule on CBS.com, although the episode was taped this week, its production number was still #3641K.  I think that when the original taping got cancelled, they already knew that the show wouldn't be airing on May 29 anyway, so instead of getting the tapedates and airdates even closer together than they already were, they just skipped that episode and came back to it after everything else was finished.

(So unless there's a really screwy lineup on Monday, I would still consider today's show the season finale.)

In a perfect world we wouldn't have to go down this road, but since we must - and I'm seeing potholes - here's my view: Going by production number makes little sense here. The Last Show Aired (Tuesday) is (or becomes) the Finale. Even if it's out of sequence, even if Barker doesn't acknowledge it - and when's the last time he even noted Summer Break anyway?

Interesting show as far as lineup is concerned. I will say its about time we go 1 week without seeing Double Prices. When's the last time that happened? Anyways, on to my thoughts....

Flip-Flop: Impossible for myself, flopping looked a whole lot better than flipping or both flip flopping.

Lucky 7: Finally, someone wins this game again. I was afraid that last number was going to be a 9. Thank goodness it wasn't.

Race Game: Whoa, he blazed through that first chance. That's how you do it.

Grocery Game: Impossible game: as has been said more often than not lately in this game-that setup was flat out nasty.

That's Too Much: I would have gone one more than Adrienne did and still lost.

Secret X: Wow, where has X'y been? Good to see it return with a win.

Showcases: Wow, isn't very often that both showcases are over $30k each.

Good show today, hopefully the final two first run shows will be even better.

Flip-Flop: Bah, he lost.
Lucky Seven: Lindsay did a great job playing this game. I remember playing this in the 1998 Tiger Electronics game and always choosing the Dodge Viper card (#70002) and winning the car.

MY SCORE: 2 (whole episode as of what I saw under recap), +9 (Lindsay's perfect playing of Lucky $even). Everyone at TPiR have a GREAT summer, and I'll see YOU back for Season 35!

Not that these contestants are intentionally playing Grocery Game like it's Bullseye--I'm just saying that most contestants these days (or maybe even since the early days of Grocery Game; I can't remember that far back) act as though the $20-21.00 range is a target price they have to reach by purchasing x amount of one product.  Sounds like Bullseye, doesn't it?

Almost without exception, you are better off buying a little of this, that, and the other to get to $20.00+.  Why this lady or so many others all try to get it in one shot just confuses me, unless they just don't have any idea how to play Grocery Game, or they just aren't thinking.

OK, let me rephrase my question:  why do you feel she was trying to hit the $20.00-$21.00 target with just the cat litter?  Or do you honestly expect these contestants to believe the kitty litter is that expensive?  

The "buy a little of this, a little of that" method really does not work very well when the two cheapest products are $2.49 and $5.99.  Sorry, just doesn't.  The best bet for winning, really, would have been to try to win with just one product.  The Azo would've done it.  Just that Mary picked the wrong product.  Not that that was what she was trying to do, anyway.

How did Roger force the loss?  Sure, he decided to use an expensive product in the game -- but the contestant bought 3 of them -- not Roger!  Had the contestant known the right price (i.e. the whole premise of the show), it was a mistake that could have easily been avoided bythe contestant.  But in this case, the contestant did not know the right price, and the game came to a quick end.

Why is Roger guilty?

OK, maybe I was exagerrating by saying "forced loss."  I didn't mean that Grocery Game couldn't be won.  Roger knew what he was doing when he set up the game, though:  I doubt he really went into this thinking that the game would be won.  There's nothing wrong with that--heck, I enjoy the evil side of Roger--but I have to imagine that Roger knows when he's setting up a game, like today's Grocery Game, to be tough as nails.

My main point was all the heavy scolding OneDollarBob was laying on Mary for losing Grocery Game.  I sincerely doubt that she was trying to win with one purchase.  I find it much more likely that she simply undervalued the kitty litter:  I myself would never guess it to be $7.37 if I hadn't had the price memorized.  I'm not saying Mary couldn't have played better, but I just find it unfair to accuse her of trying to hit the $20.00-$21.00 target with a single product when, in all likelyhood, she was doing no such thing.

If you do the math, you'll discover that there were only 8 possible ways to win Grocery Game today.  However, it was an automatic loss if you did any of the following:

1)  Buy more than 1 of the Mid Nite sleep aid
2)  Buy 2 of the Azo cranberry supplement
3)  Buy 2 of the Space Bags
4)  Buy 4 or 5 of the Hot Pockets

To me, that seems way too restrictive.  Especially since each of these purchases is under $20.00 (and 5 Hot Pockets is only $12.45).

As I've said before, there should ALWAYS be one product in Grocery Game under $1.00 (or at least under $1.50) so that a shrewd player can win the game.

Or, as I've also said before, they should increase the winning range from $27.00 to $30.00, since there aren't very many grocery products under $3.00 anymore.

Sorry, in advance, for opening that can of worms again...

No, I largely agree, Ted.  I still don't agree with increasing the range, though:  they still use a lot of products that are under $3.00 in other grocery games.  Roger just rarely uses them in Grocery Game, specifically, which tells me that he just wants Grocery Game, specifically, to be lost.  Which means that if the range were increased to $27.00 to $30.00, Roger would probably start using even more expensive products.

We missed most of the second half of this due to a news conference about the terrorist plot bust the night before. This is what I got to see:

Flip Flop: I thought Timothy definitley should've flipped. I was lost, though, on weather he should've flopped or not. The tens/hundreds place and I don't get along too well.

Lucky $even: Nice playing, although I thought Lindsey should've gone with 4 as the last digit. Luckilly she didn't.

Race Game: Once I saw he had 2 right, I knew Wayne had to switch the banjoes and the popcorn cart. Great first run he did, too.

Grocery Game: That F'n Random T**ty Cats strikes (again?). Once I saw the $7.37 price I said "Bah!".

IUFB#5: WFOR's news set, I'll bid $1399...no wait, it's a Special Report to tell us that the scheduled 11:30am press conference is delayed. We got back just as Bob was tossing it to commercial (Grrrrrrr). So there was another lowball in That's Too Much I see.

IUFB#6: John wins the scooter, then starts walking on stage when suddenly.... "Now, Live, this is a CBS 4 News Special Report". Looks like the FBI is ready to talk. So I missed Secret X. It's nice that it was won.

I missed everything until the Showcase ARP's were revealed. I'll a*s-u-me that the Bowrider is an FRT, so I probably would've bid somewhere around $23,000 (lowballing as usual) on John's showcase while overbidding ($37K maybe) on Timothy's.

OK show, from what I was able to see of it.
