TRIPLE PLAY: Wow. Was not expecting Triple Play. Ouch.

CLIFFY: A very close and suspenseful win. I got scared when yodel man got close to the end...I loved Drew's "you're going to be up on YouTube" comment...

CHECKY: When was the last time we saw an even $3000 as a price?

2 FOR 1: easy.

MONEY: Ow.

MOST EXPENSIVE: I think the Dob was being semi-evil on that one.  That was one expensive Dell computer.

SCs: Another DSW!  My bids: 27900/15000 (diffs 775/1644).  Good CSS day for me.

OVERALL: 4/5.  If only Triple Play would have been won...

Poor Yvonne.  I don't really know why she's poor Yvonne, since she won stuff... I guess its just how her nerves really showed.  And she didn't win a car, but that might be good for her health, there (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile1.txt).  She actually played pretty well, and surprisingly fast anyway, considering that, so I can't complain!

Today was one of the hardest Triple Play setups I've ever seen.  Today was a rare playing where a contestant could have reasonably lost on the first car, and the second car was tough, too.  But especially with the third car:  $23,110 just screamed "pick me!" but it was the wrong price.

Speaking of Triple Play, I love the "new" camera shot of Drew and the contestant for the car reveals!  Or I love the Most Expensive for trips camera shot, I should say!  Seriously, I was expecting Most Expensive for three trips for the first game!

As hard as Triple Play was, though, Most Expensive--no trips--was even harder.  It looked like a tossup between the barbecue and the wine cabinet.  Was there any chance that anyone would've actually taken the computer?

The camera shot of Laura getting 65¢ on the wheel--what she needed for $1.00--has to have been the absolute worst camera work so far this season!  Absolutely atrocious!  Instead of keeping the camera on the wheel, to see if it would stay on 65¢, or move on to 10¢, Bart prematurely shot Laura!  Not Laura and the wheel, but just Laura!  How could... how... URGH!  That should have been a suspensful moment--to see if it would stop at 65¢, or move onto the dime--I really thought it was going to go to the dime--but Bart just had to kill the tension there.

On a less frustrating, but still a little frustrating note, did anyone notice that someone in the audience booed Laura's first spin while it was still spinning?  Can't the person at least wait to see if the wheel possibly makes it all the way around first?  Guess I'm happy that at least it wasn't the whole audience joining in this time.

I wonder why Robert passed the first showcase to Laura.  I mean, it obviously worked out for him in the end, but considering he seemed to want the car... just being nice, I guess.

Has the show ever offered Ligna furniture on the show before?  Wonder if the price is closer to Ashley or Aico?  whinny, you know the price of everything, right?  Guess I'll have to wait and see.

And you know, Maria Priceleone, you may not strike unintended fear if you didn't speak in stereotypical gangster expressions (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile2.txt).

Considering how quickly and deliberately Gay was playing Check Game, I was surprised she didn't trying writing the amount in words.  Dunno' if she'd have been allowed to, but I was kinda' surprised she didn't try to do so, anyway.

Laura, Alyssa, and Aylin all looked nice.

I found today's playing of Two for the Price of One easy solely because Rich now announces the total in the game.  I'd have lost today's playing had there been no total announced.

I kinda' wish we had Bob hosting Money Game today.  But really just to see whether he would have referred to 11 as El Cheapo.

No Hole in One on Monday's show... no Let 'em Roll on today's show... the lack of GPs must just be killing Roger inside (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile2.txt).

Triple Play: First time I saw Drew do this game. Tough break on that last car. That was a tough choice for me, too.

Cliffhangers: Yyvone stood stiff most of the time. That was a great win.

Check Game: I was iffy on $2,500, but she pulled it off and won.

2 for the Price of 1: I thought the freezer was at least $900. Guess I would've been wrong. He won and that's good.

Money Game: I was thinking 11 as the last two digits.

Most Expensive: Tough choice. I didn't expect the computer being higher than the wine cabinet. Of course it included the printer and other stuff.

Glad Robert won both showcases.

Agreed.  Just goes to show even in this era, we still have Bart's lousy directing.

Onward:

TP: I would have went with $24K seeing how this is a hybrid.

Cliffy: Very Exciting to see Yyvone win with only 2 steps to spare.

Most Expensive: Computer as the Costliest?! I would've been suckered into the believe.

SC1: I would have bid the same thing as Laura's bid.

SC2: I thought he was under by $4000.  Turned out to be another DSW for this season.

I liked how they did the Super Ball!!/Most Expensive for 3 Trips shot for Triple Play today.  It made me think either ME was coming up with three trips to offer, but I was amazed that Triple Play was played.  It makes the game less predictable than how they used to do the shot with Bob and the contestant and the adjusted turntable for the game.

It's a shame that Laura lost, I guess she underestimated the price of a hybrid vehicle.

Yvonne was hilarious when she was shaking as she came on stage.  Drew made the moment even funnier when he shook along with her and mentioned that she may be on YouTube in the near future.  Yvonne managed to pull off an exciting win in Cliff Hangers-by just having "The Yodel Man" stop at step #24.

BTW-that was an interesting second SP, a hamburger shaped telephone and it came with a very interesting plug from Rich.

We almost had another "Timothy's Dot" incident in Check Game today, as Gay almost wrote on the eggcrate display.  It's great that she won to break even for the loss that was broadcast earlier this season.

Have we ever had a $7 bid in CR before?  It's a shame that Tristan got shot down by the lowest amount on the board, I sure was not expecting 11 to be the last two numbers.  I guess numbers in the teens that are the back half of the vehicle offered could be considered "La Cheapa", as Bob referred to it once some years ago.

That was a very interesting-looking violin in the showcase today and we have our second (aired) DSW for the season!

About Triple Play. First I was surpised it was played. Second, Laura didn't seem that enthused about potentially winning three cars. But the greatest susrpise of them all? Drew trying to build up suspense to the conclusion of the game.  WOW! Good stuff.

The YouTube comment was pretty funny. I'd be willing to bet he's right, too.

HOTTIES: #43, Laura; #44, Nanette; #45, Aylin; #46, Alyssa :-D
BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY: Robert
SHOW GRADE: 3

Laura, Alyssa, and Aylin all looked nice.
Write this down, folks... you will rarely ever see me and Frank agree on three hotties.

You know, as frustrating as these out-of-order broadcasts are making it to keep track of things, they do serve as a reminder that Drew does improve the farther we get into the taping season.  He wasn't perfect today -- he kinda stumbled through Check Game, his segue into Money Game was practically non-existant, and he really needs to find a few more ways to throw to commercial -- but overall, he was much smoother than what we've been seeing most of the week.  His performance in Triple Play especially was top-notch, and, as seems to be the case on most of these episodes taped after the fifth week, he did a much better job of explaining the Showcase.

Roger really didn't seem to want Triple Play won today -- a lot of the prices were really close together.  I'm surprised Laura got as far as she did.  Heck, I'm surprised she got past the first car -- I'm not sure I would have.

Yvonne was an awesome contestant...I don't think I've ever seen someone as shaky as she was for as long as she was.  Drew played off of her beautifully, too, pretending he was getting a jolt of electricity every time he touched her.

I think I can safely say this is the first time I've seen someone get genuinely excited over the chance to win a freezer chest. :oldlol:

The first showcase theme was alright, but it would have worked better if they'd had Rich do it with an Italian accent.  (Heck, maybe even as the Italian vampire! :))

And yay!   A DSW!

Speaking of Triple Play, I love the "new" camera shot of Drew and the contestant for the car reveals!  Or I love the Most Expensive for trips camera shot, I should say!  Seriously, I was expecting Most Expensive for three trips for the first game!

I knew Triple Play was coming from the angle of the Turntable, but I was half expecting the cars to be revealed like in Super Ball!!.

Actually, the Turntable was moved just like it always has been for Triple Play.  It's just a little less noticeable because we're not really used to the new set yet.

Put me down as really liking the new Triple Play camera angle/old Superball!! camera angle, too. It's a little more classy than that blue wall/potted plant combination they used to use when they shot it the other way. It definitely wasn't intended to be won, though. I mean, look at the Vibe: less than a $15 difference between the fake price and the real price and less than a $300 between the right fake price and the previous fake price. That's not as bad in Triple Play as it would be in TTM!, but then there was only a $1000 jump to the next one. She was lucky to get to the third car, where oddly enough, she had a fighting chance, although either of the top two would be reasonable guesses. Budget reality is rearing its ugly head.

Two For One was pretty easy, though, given that you chose the middle digit free. Freezer chests aren't very expensive.

I can't believe Drew didn't comment much on the cheeseburger phone, but after a plug like that, what more can you say?

I enjoyed Lanisha being the arbiter of the contestants' fates today. It would've been fun if Drew had let her read the showcase results.

Did I hear Drew say "Blood on contestant's row!" today? That's awesome!

Drew was great today!!!

His suspense build up in Triple Play is EXACTLY what he needs to do more often!  Than, when he thought he had "psychic" powers by making "Yodel Man" Cliffhangers stop on command.............PRICELESS!!!

A double showcase win!!!!!! And an audience that cared!!!!  AWESOME!!!

TP:  Triple Play?!  Whoa, where did that come from?!  I didn't think they'd air a TP episode on the same (non-special) week as 3 Strikes.  I liked that Super Ball/Most Expensive camera angle.  And could Laura have been any more unexcited when the three cars were revealed?

After One-Bid #2:  LOL!  Drew knows about YouTube-worthy moments!

Yodelman Game:  A cheeseburger telephone? :oldlol:

Check Game:  Right down the middle!

SCSD #1:  OK, that camerawork on Laura's second spin absolutely sucked.  Makes me wonder if there was some kind of edit.

241:  Easy.

One-Bid #5:  $7?  I'm pretty sure that's an Historic Moment®.

Money:  Uh-oh!  It's the attack of the multiples of 11!  So that truck didn't have PS/FP, and it still ended in a number other than 0, 5, or 9? :clipboard:

ME:  Ouch!  That was one expensive Dell (complete with unsolicited plugged testimony from Drew).

Lineup:  It seems highly unusual to have two shows in one week without a GP game.

SC #1:  WTF kind of a violin was that?

SC #2:  Ligna furniture... have we ever seen that brand before?  Smells like a cheapo to me.

My showcase bids:
Van--$28,215
Random room/trip--$12,501

Result:  Whoa!  Drew's second DSW!

And an audience that cared!!!!  AWESOME!!!

Why did the audience actually care this time? Because this was the Chuck's last taping. I was told that there were actually turnaways for this taping - which means there weren't any paid audience members for this one.

TRIPLE PLAY--did Laura even want to be there? (more on that later)--tough to win this one today

Cliffhangers-Yvonne was THE contestant of the day.  What a dramatic finish!  How often in PIR history has the yodel man stopped at the very peak of the climb?

Check Game--excellent play, and funny one-liner by drew about the longevity of the show

Two for the price of one--good playing

money game--when in doubt..........go with el cheapo  :-D

most expensive--clueless contestant deserved to lose this one.  Sorry, but my patience for some of these people is wearing thin........

OK, with THAT out of the way, lemme get to a concern of mine.  Is it just me, or are many of the contestant just plain out FLAT these days?!?!  The first woman, Laura, almost acted as if PRICE was interrupting other plans of hers or something.  You are playing for a chance to win 3 CARS!  Show some excitement!  I realize some people are more quiet and reserved, but she just seemed kinda...............blah.  The bids in contestants row are becoming more and more idiotic.  7 dollars?  Wow, that' sooo funny dude  :-? People bidding 20 dollars UNDER another contestant, more cutthroat $1-more-than-the-previous bidder, etc.  Look, I realize some people get caught up in the hoopla and can't think straight, but this is just gettign bad.  THen, the people get on stage and act braindead.  The girl today playing the last pricing game looked like she was in la-la land or something.  Get with it people, WAKE UP, and show some ENTHUSIASM.  Also, exercise common sense.

Sorry to rant like that, but that aspect of the show is REALLY bothering me, and today was an example of what has been frustrating me.  Of course there have been some good contestants this season, but a lot of them just flat out SUCK and I'm surprised that they were picked in the first place.

I have to mention - this show was absolutely the most enjoyable I've seen thus far with Drew hosting.  He was really into it, particularly during Cliff Hangers, which clearly seems to be one of his favorite games.  With the right contestant, like Yvonne was today, Drew really shines.  He clearly enjoyed her throughout the game, and you can feel that his excitement at the end of the game when the mountain climber stopped on $24 and Yvonne won the game was genuine.

TRIPLE PLAY:  YAY!  Nice to see TP again.  OWWWW...what a downer to start things off.  :-(

CLIFF HANGERS:  Hans got a pretty nice view of the horizon, but what a nice win for Yvonne!  :-D

CHECK GAME:  Easy as a slice of apple pie...

ONE-BID #4:  Somebody coined this saying during last season:  It's not the stone, it's the setting.  (yeah, I just couldn't resist :P )  Seriously, I figured that necklace would cost a little bit more than $900.

2 FOR THE PRICE OF 1:  This looked pretty easy too...

MONEY GAME:  The pairs of numbers strike again!  :-(

MOST EXPENSIVE:  Well, I too would've picked the computer...

SHOWCASES:  WOW!  We have our 2nd DSW of the year!  :-D

OVERALL SHOW GRADE:  4.0/4.0 (A)

This was a gem of a show, and much improved over yesterday in my view!  Simply fabulous!

I'm a little disappointed in you all.  It's now past 10PM eastern and 0 of you have linked me to a YouTube clip of Yvonne.  :P

This show was especially fun in the company of friends in the Student Union.  A couple of us recalled the Italian Vampire during the Mob sketch.

Triple Play: For the Ford Escape, I eliminated the last two prices because of just "standard equipment", especially the last price. So I went with $21,962. Oh, it's a hybrid.

I'm just tempted to see if Yvonne's vibrations will be on YouTube....

"The Yodel Man Game": If they're going to use prices like $19 and $49, then I think we got ourselves a challenge here.
Another sign of possible obesity: a hamburger phone.

Check Game: Ah, the ol' Go-way-out-to-LA-to-make-your-trip-that's-near-you trip. Anyways, I felt good about that $2500 amount.

2 For the Price of 1: This time, I watched myself on this one after the last playing. Robert would know more about freezers than I would. Also, at first I thought we were going to price the ATV. Oh, that 7...

One Bid 5: Lucky Seven.

Money Game: Before the start of the game, I had 22911 on mind as a possible trick. If 22 were not the first two numbers, then I probably would've tried 21 next; but I would defintely try 11 as the last two numbers. Reminds me of a moment, where a contestant picked 10 as her final choice, with Bob calling it el cheapo.

One Bid 6: Erroooo!

Most Expensive: I flubbed up on a gas grill before, so I didn't pick that. Instead I picked the computer that Drew thinks it's a Dell.
[I didn't know what brand it is because Rich did not say it was. Of course I know it's a Dell!]

Showcases: Don't ever press your luck with the Priceleones. Well, Robert did with that great bid.

was there an edit in the end when Tristan said hi to his mom?  Drew asked him who he wanted to say hi to during his spin and the response seemed to be somewhat muffled and there was an awkward pause

SCSD #1:  The bad camera shot on lauras second spin was most likley an edit.. i'm guessing there was confusion on where the wheel landed. There was also an edit before laura was shown the first car in triple play.

Huh? What? Where? Damn! It's January 21 already?!

Me, at roughly 6:30 pm this evening, loading this up online...

"Hmm... 'Great Games'.. Yeah.. 'Exciting Prizes'.. Yep... Wait a second. There's someone in the front row in a green shirt, I've seen him somewhere before. And sitting next to him is some woman wearing a black hat and a Madonna shirt... I have that very same shirt. And I have a hat just like....."

WHATWHATWHAAAAAAT?!?!?! Excuse me while I keep myself from falling out of my chair.

Now? Today? This wasn't supposed to air until January 21... It was even on the board that Chuck paraded around the studio with... January 21, 2008.

Oh boy. I wasn't prepared for this at all. I didn't get up to tape this. I wasn't even prepared to post about this... I suppose the next time I go to a taping and it's supposed to air a little over a week later, I should expect it to air that same night?

Well, too late now. The cat is out of the bag, and it's time to talk about Chuck's Grand Finale.

Triple Play: This one started off so well, too... Cobalt? Easy, take the $14,000... Vibe? Low $18,000's, another easy one...

Oh boy. It's the Escape hybrid. I kept going between the last two choices, before thinking "I dunno. $24,921 seems a little high. Go with $23!"....

I guess it wasn't too high after all. Sorry.

Cliff Hangers: Before discussing the game itself, let me give a little background on Yvonne. Yvonne did pretty much spend the whole show shaking. Drew tried to do his best to get her to relax - first with humor, then by standing next ot her in Contestant's Row during a break and talking to her. No such luck.

But, thanks to him talking to her, we did find out that Yvonne works at a nursing home, caring for Alzheimer's patients. Needless to say, the minute she said that, she had one huge fan sitting in the front row.

At first, I was relieved to see her get to play something nice and easy, like Cliffy. Unfortunately, while a win, it was a rather nervewracking one, with Hans getting a little close to the top for comfort...

I would've personally gone $25, $30, $45 on this, but heck, a win is a win - not like you get extra prizes or cash for keeping Hans back.

After Yvonne won and made her way back into the audience, I took both of her hands in mine and told her "Yvonne, my father has Alzheimer's, and I just want to say thank you for what you do. Bless you!" Yes, she was still shaking like a leaf, and I hope I didn't freak her out by doing that. But it just felt right. I feel that people who do that kind of work don't get thanked nearly enough - if it's even possible to thanked enough.

So, again, Yvonne: Congratulations. And thank you.

Check Game: My second time seeing this game in person - and wouldn't you know it.. I finally get to see someone who thinks that you write on the DISPLAY, and not the check.. Oh, boy!

I thought the trip was a bit more than it was, and would've won by a gnat's rear had I been playing ($2,000 even for my check).. Starcade was thinking $2,500, which worked out even better for the contestant.. Well, kind of. I mean, she's going to fly from Mississippi to Los Angeles to fly to New Orleans, then fly back to LA to fly back home?

Are you dizzy yet? I know I am.

Showdown #1: Eight trips to Mecca. Three $1,000 winners. Now if only I can finally see a $5,000 winner. Or $10,000 winner. Or $20,000 winner. Or $1,000,000 winner.....

2 For The Price Of 1: Wheeeee! It's time for another technical problem!

It all started off as routine: Robert gets up on stage, he and Drew go back to the door, Robert sees his prizes, Drew explains the rules, Robert asks for the second number as the freebie.

Drew asks them to light up the middle number...

He asks a second time...

He asks yet again...

The door starts closing.

Drew stares toward the doors and asks "What did I do wrong now?"

Nothing, of course. The darned number just wouldn't light up. So Robert sat there on the turntable (as we flashed "$579" at him with our fingers) while they worked on the game behind the closed door.

A few minutes later, they re-opened the door and edited out Drew's numerous attempts to ask for the second number. This time, with the set working properly, Robert went with $579, and won himself an ATV and a freezer.

Money Game: Yes, I was one of those suggesting Tristan take 44. Yes, I was wrong. Between how many times I've seen the last two numbers be 30-something or 40-something, and the fact 44 would've been the ol' front & back trick, I thought it was a good guess.

Not that 11 would've been a bad guess, either...

It did take some restraint to not yell something after he took 99, though. Yes, Gretzky rocks. And Mikan rocked. But Roger hasn't put the back of the car behind 90-something in 39 years!</Bob Barker>

Most Expensive: From the minute Rich described all three prizes, I was fairly sure it was the computer. Then I thought about my last to Mecca, where Most Expensive had a computer as one of the three prizes (in fact, it was the most expensive) and thought "You WOULDN'T do that again, would you Roger?... Yeah, you would. You're not going to fool me again. :P"

Well, sure enough, I was yelling for #3. Michael was yelling for #3... Sadly, she took #2.

D'OH!

Showdown #2: Yes, I was one of the people urging Alyssa to spin again at 65. Sadly, that didn't work out either..

Showcases: A lot of us got a real kick out of the Priceleones.. Nice work, Stan..

I was more than a little shocked that Robert passed Showcase #1.. Like Laura, I too thought $26,000 would be a good bid on her Showcase...

I was not one bit surprised to see Robert's Showcase consist of furniture and a trip. And of course, unlike the last time, Laura wasn't clearly over, so considering bailing out with a $1 bid wouldn't work...

I was shouting to go with $16,700.. And, of course, in a mirror of my prior taping, he went a couple hundred less than I suggested, by bidding $16,500 - which I still thought was pretty good.

Michael got a look at Roger after Robert bid, and told me Roger was sitting there, his arms on the desk, and his head leaning over his arms. I heard that and thought "Uh oh. Either we have another painful DOB, or...."

Naw. No way. I mean, a DSW? During Chuck's final show? After all, the first time I went to a taping and came across Chuck - and the Legend Of Chuck was born, Vickyann became part-owner of CBS... What are the odds of another DSW to close out Chuck's time as a page?

Lightning never strikes twice in the same place, after all.

Then again, two prior tapings where Chuck was working.. We got Vickyann's DSW... We got Dennis' painful reverse-DSW. So two tapings, two insanely close Showcase bids...

Well, with the Showcase prices about to be revealed, I knew one thing: We were in for some excitement, one way or another..

When Drew led off by revealing the price of Laura's Showcase, I was even more convinced that Robert was insanely close. At $2,675 away, she was in fairly good shape.. But how good? Because needless to say, his bid was the one I most anxious over...

Drew starts off by saying that "the actual retail price of your Showcase is... Sixteen thousand", and it's time for deja vu all over again, as Yogi Berra used to say... I'm standing there thinking "Don't be over... Don't be over..."

I heard Drew up until he said "six"... I couldn't hear anything else he said after I started screaming. I didn't hear Drew say "forty four" - not that it mattered of course...

Lightning had just struck twice in the same place, after all. And, what a fitting way to close out Chuck's stint as The World's Greatest Page.

After the show closed, we went over to shake hands with Robert (as we had with all of the contestants throughout the show). He actually hugged the both of us, genuinely thrilled over his big day.

Congratulations, Robert!

As everyone started to file out, we got another chance to shake hands with Roger, where he again thanked us for coming. Michael brought up his reaction to Robert's bid, and The Dob said "Well, we are slightly over budget..."

Whoops.

Well, with that said, I think it's safe to say I now only have three more chances to be a contestant on the show. Why?

Taping #4: DSW.
Taping #8: DSW.

Which means I am sure I will receive a lifetime ban (for betting on baseball?) after taping #11, because Roger surely knows that if I come back a twelth time, there'll be yet another DSW to blow up the budget..

I'm teasing, of course.

Though, I'm sure Roger will run for the hills if he ever comes out to see Chuck and I there at the same time.  :P

All in all, another very special day. Some great contestants, a lot of fun, a DSW, and of course... CHUCK! CHUCK! CHUCK!

The best news of all, of course, is that since it's now January 21, 2008, I have another 11 months to go until Christmas. How was the 2007 Christmas show?

Edit: As far as the enthusiatic audience today? Of course. We had Chuck (Chuck! Chuck! Chuck!), and Starcade, and Maddy. Get the three of us in there, and you can bet on sixty minutes of noise - especially since you'll have two mouths who will go at full volume the whole time.

Even Jeff knows we don't need to "save it for the show". :P

Seriously, though.. Chuck worked the crowd all day... Rich did his usual great job on the warmup.. And by the time the cameras started rolling, everyone else turned the ignition (finally) and showed a great deal of energy and enthusiam as well.

I do hope we can see this kind of energy more often... Maybe that means I need to go more often? Live there, perhaps? I'm sure they have a nice, comfy bed in the warehouse? Lots of Little Debbies and Campbell's soup and Hot Pockets... Maybe one of the models has the same sized feet I do?

Well, that was a surprise -- this show was supposed to air in early 2008!  I wonder why it got moved...  ;)

Triple Play:  So this was the first airing of it, eh?  As you probably all know, they taped the same shows for all week -- so, as Willy put it to Roger at the end of the show before we left, there's no wonder they're a little over budget trying to play TP all week...

Sadly, no win.

Cliff Hangers:  A bit too close for comfort -- and, yeah, it was great to see her win, not only because of her enthusiasm, but also because of the hard work she does.  She's a larger human being than I...

Check Game:  I was thinking $2,500 -- not expecting $3K on the nose for the trip.

2 For the Price of 1:  The edit was even more funny because Drew apparently goofed majorly in the first taping of the day and we were behind schedule the whole day as a result (eventually forcing Maddy and me to take Greyhound back to Riverside).  Just funny to see the doors closing and Roger walking up -- Drew wondering what he did this time.

So the contestant went to the turntable, sat down, and we mouthed and fingered $579.  He smiled and gave us a thumbs up.  And then he won.

Money Game:  El Cheapo strikes!!  Ow.

Most Expensive:  Remind me never to buy a computer from that company.  Ow.

And then the DSW, as Maddy reported already.  Saw his head go down, and he remarked to us that they were a bit over budget, so that was the reason for the "headache".

If you ever go and see Roger do that, brace yourself.

Triple Play: Laura went with me there. I said $23,110 on the last car. In my mind that loss was heartbreaking.

Cliff Hangers: Pretty funny the way Yvonne was shaking. What a dramatic win.

Check Game: $2500 was my choice as well to put down on the check. Nice playing.

2 For The Price of 1: Boy was I a bonehead thinking the freezer chest was over $900.  :headbang: Great win for Robert.

Money Game: I had a feeling 11 was the last two digits.

Most Expensive: I went with #1. For me I never thought that computer could be so expensive.

SCSD #2: I wanted Alyssa to win. But even if she stayed on 65 cents she had no chance unfortunately.

Showcases: YAY! Another DSW!  :-D

I was having plenty of trouble making heads or tails of it myself. Then TODAY happened - two months and five days ahead of schedule.

Now I'm totally lost.

No.  This is its first airing.  It is $4,394, and the Strobel Supplepedic 6000 is $3,398 based on the prices of the two Magnussen Biltmore Bedroom groups and their respective sleep sets.  The first on February 14 had Dormia ($947) and totaled $8,394, and the second on October 30 had Strobel and totaled $10,845.

The 41st Safenet Security System, the 21st of which has a trip - $1,950
What?  A trip to Shanghai?  I cannot determine driving directions from L.A. to Shanghai.  The trip's price is $6,902.

We are also picking up Strobels at a faster rate than we did in Season 35 no matter what episode order we go by.  We had three strobels in daytime and one in primetime during Season 35.  We are now at three this season, all of them in the showcases, two of which have trips.

Thanks once again, Jacob, for handling the screencaps. I've run into a new problem with Innertube- now when I download the video with Orbit, it says "unknown duration", so I can't scroll around or anything. Sigh. Hopefully I'll figure something out so I'll be able to do them like usual next week.

Triple: AWWW!!, I really thought Laura had it.  Laura is HOT!!!!  :-D Loved the "Old School" Superball/Most Expensive camera shot as well.

Cliff: Yvonne was a BLAST!!! She literally had Drew shaking, too.  :-D She played very well and deserved to win if you ask me.

Check: Very nice.

2 for 1: I knew the freezer was at least $500. Good win.

Money: El Cheapo strikes again. ARGH!!  :-x

Most: Too bad.

Showcases: The Priceleones showcase was great.  Maybe Robert was being a gentleman passing the 1st showcase. to the sexy Laura.  :-D But he had to take it anyway for his magnificent bid leading to our second  :dsw: YAYYYYY!!!!! :-D

A 4-star show to wrap up the week.

I think Roger and Friends are hesitant about saying the name of this site on the air, but I'm certain Drew will at least mention us in some form or another. Like, "I know some people on the internet that are screaming at their TVs right now", or something to that effect.

Triple Play - They had me fooled on the last car. I thought $23110 as well.
Cliff Hangers - Now THAT was an exciting win!
Check Game - I would have been under by $50.
2 for 1 - For whatever reason, I thought that the freezer was$979.
Money Game - And El Cheapo claims another victim!
Most Expensive - I would have gone for the grill. I thought it was one of those expensive grills, not an IUFB-quality grill.
Showcases - Not only did I not go over, not only did we have a :dsw:, but the Priceleone Family was one of the funniest Showcases I've seen in a looooooong time.

Sorry to burst everyone's bubbles, but I remember something in chat that specifically stated that "11" would NOT be considered to be an "El Cheapo" set of numbers; anything from "09" or below would be considered for "El Cheapo" status.  I could be wrong on that part though, I'll admit.  :hammer:

I don't normally do this, obviously, but for the sake of keeping the stats accurate, I'm going to give a bit of a spoiler:  Triple Play is the "missing" game from the second taping session.  This episode was either the third or fourth time Drew had played it.

I can remember times when Bob himself would call a 10, a 14, a 15 "El Cheapo" when it was a number clearly below the possible first two numbers in the vehicle's price.

The shot on Drew and the contestant facing the audience in Triple Play is much better than seeing the turntable moved over with the blue divider and plant behind them.  It's like when they use the three doors in Most Expensive, Superball, and One Wrong Price.

First, I just loved Yvonne and Drew's interaction with her. Classic.

Second, this is the first time I've seen Drew CORRECTLY explain the bonus spin for the Big Wheel. He did the green spaces first, THEN the 1.00 for $10,000.

explaining what happens on the green spaces first is the way to do it because you're building up to the highest prize and saving it for last... explaining the green spaces after the dollar is like showing someone they could win a car and then show them they could also win a microwave.. its also why they save Santa for last at the thanksgiving day parades.

PG #1-Well, looks like Drew has finally learned the last of the Big 3. That was a cool shot when Laura got up on stage.  That was great how Drew did the false reveal/tease the contestant a bit on the last car.  I'm surprised Laura made it past the 2nd car; those prices were so close together.  Hardest playing of Triple Play I've seen.

PG #2-Well, that's unique.  All 3 SPs had to do with food.  Great win for Yvonne.

PG #3-I had no idea the show had been on the air since 1872.  She got the win right in the middle of the range.

SCSD #1-Cutting away right as the wheel nearly went from 65 cents to 10 cents during Laura's spin killed the excitement.  Come on Bart, first you do away with the SCSD arrow, then you don't even show if it's going to stop on the dollar?  Please do something right.

PG #4-Looks like Robert got that freezer he was looking for.

PG #5-6 sets of double digits to choose from.  One word can describe this playing--EVIL!

PG #6-I would have said that the grill was going to be the most expensive.  I forgot how cheap those things are.

Showcases-Whoa, another :dsw:!  That's the 2nd one this season!

Actually, that was then-director Paul Alter's decision to do away with the arrow graphic, back in 1996.

TRIPLE PLAY: Interesting camera angle (I thought it was going to be three-trip Most Expensive/One Wrong Price) and a loss at the third car. I honestly thought Drew was going to smack the camera while throwing to commercial!

CLIFF HANGERS (AKA The Yodel Man's Game): Yvonne looked very nervous/shaken after she came up on stage, and Drew's response after he touched her shoulder was quite funny! The 'you won't know whether to eat the telephone or answer the burger!' joke was bad (sorry Rich) but the win was very close with a great throw to commercial afterward!

CHECK GAME: Yay, new check look! Surprising that they had magic marker pens (and Price) back in 1872 :-)

SCSD #1: A $1,000 win by the unexcited Triple Play lady and a 'Hi...Drew' from Yvonne. Too bad she lost.

TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE: Yay, pink lights! He very wisely took the second number free. Did anybody notice that the '9' flashed when it was pulled down?

IUFB #5: I wouldn't have said a $7 bid wins it. Then again, stranger things have happend on the various versions of this show (regardless of whether Bob or whoever isn't Roger will admit it or not).

MONEY GAME: Yay, 36 is where 35 was last year! I said 'El Cheapo' and would've won a car.

MOST EXPENSIVE: I went with the grill and lost (it was only $1,300?). Drew REALLY needs to stop giving Dell free endorsements.

SCSD #2: Hi, Cleveland!

SHOWCASES: Rich really should've been the mob boss. Either that or let the models talk during the skits. Or both with Rich talking; I miss those days... :-( A $144 Double Showcase Winner ends a great show!
-----------------------------
-----------------------------
OVERALL: Great contestants, great wins (including A DSW!), and great Drew (especially his false reveal in Triple Play and his reaction to Yvonne). 8/10

BEST CONTESTANT: Yvonne; Just great!

COMMERCIALS: A Burlington Coat Factory one was just...ugh. Very...dumb. And bad. Dumbly bad; Same for Vicks and Swiffer ones. As well as a life insurance commercial (I'm pretty certain that a couple wouldn't talk at length about Colonial Penn unless they're in The Truman Show).

Triple Play-- Laura put up a hard fight until she got to the last ride (and lost).
Cliff Hangers-- Yvonne did what she can from not letting Hans take the fall.
Check Game-- Gay has nabbed it dead in the middle.
2 For the Price of 1-- Robert breezed right through that one.
Money Game-- Tristan was outdone by El Cheapo.
Most Expensive-- Poor Alyssa had been doomed by Dell.
