Title: goldroadfanatic's TPIR episode #26
Post by: goldroadfanatic on July 15, 2012, 02:44:56 PM
Hello, everyone!

Our last show featured RCPlanes59 breaking the winnings record by being the first contestant on this series to win over $100,000, including $11,000 in cash and a new Mercedes-Benz.  For over six years, this series has awarded almost $2 million in cash and prizes ($1,950,917, to be exact). I want us to break the $2 million milestone this show and I can't do it without you, so this is your chance to win some cars, prizes, and cash to put us over the top!  Here are the rules:

*Contestants will have 24 hours to place a bid, play their games, etc..  If you miss your turn once, you'll receive a warning; miss it again, and you're eliminated from the show.
*I will send a private message to call people down but afterwards, it is the contestant's responsibility to continue their game by checking the thread for updates.
*If you are going to be absent from the game when it's your turn for one reason or another, please send a private message to me and I'll figure out the best way to handle the situation.
*Audience participation is encouraged.
*If someone is eliminated from the show for whatever reason, I will notify that contestant's replacement via a PM and bring them up to speed.
*The show will begin on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 9:30 PM EDT.

As always, good luck and have fun, everyone!

All four bids are in; the actual retail price of the hammock is $1,169, which makes kassilynn the winner!

DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING(applause)(Walking 2007)

Right up here beside me, kassilynn.  How are you doing?  As the first on-stage contestant of our show, I want to make your experience worthwhile by having you win this!

(door #2 opens)

A new car!

(wild cheers and applause)(Concentration '73)(Holly models it)

The 2012 Chrysler 200 LX!  Stylish and comfortable, this four-door sedan comes with standard features plus UConnect infotainment system and engine block heater, the Chrysler 200!

(http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/8292/cardgame.jpg) (http://img26.imageshack.us/i/cardgame.jpg/)

kassilynn, you're going to play the Card Game.  I want you to pick out a card from this special deck; this will determine how close you must come to the actual retail price of the car without going over.  We have amounts as little as $1,000 and as big as $3,000, in $500 increments.  The bigger amount you draw, the better!

(Please pick a number from 1 to 10)

She has drawn…

Twenty-five hundred dollars!  That's very good; you need to bid within $2,500 of the car's price in order to win.  Now you're going to bid with this standard deck of 52 cards.  The number on the card is worth an amount in hundreds of dollars-twos are worth $200, threes are worth $300, and so on.  Tens and face cards are worth $1,000 each, and aces are wild-you can make them any amount you wish, save them for later, or make a final bid with them.  I'll start you off with a bid of $15,000.

(http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/9523/cardgame.png) (http://img269.imageshack.us/i/cardgame.png/)

DING

I want you to draw cards until you think you're within $2,500 of the actual price of the car without going over.  Good luck!

(First, post a number from 0 to 52 to indicate where you'd like to cut the deck, 0 means no cut.  Then, pick numbers from 1 to 52 to determine the card you want to draw; once you choose a number that card is removed from the deck.)

The actual retail price is…$790, and cornelius wins!

DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING(Walking 2007)(applause)

He's following me back here to the land of plenty to win some prizes.  Cornelius, I have several prizes for you to win, take a look at them!

(door #2 opens)(Fortune Hunter cue)

A fun hockey table, an fabulous chest, new dinnerware, and an elegant cradle!

(applause)

First, from Valley-Dynamo, the Arctic Wind air hockey table is seven feet long and features a manual abacus scoring system, ultra quiet high-volume wind blower, and polypropylene legs to minimize table movement during play.  This professional-caliber air hockey table will be a winning addition to any home game room!

(Holly models it)

Next, from Magnussen Home, Finished in black with nickel hardware, Bennett offers the perfect palette to express ones unique personality and style. Conveniently mixing well with traditional, contemporary and even vintage décor.  Features five drawers, including a felt-lined top drawer, and nickel-colored hardware!

(Dian models it)

Third, from Pfaltzgraff, this 64-piece service for 16 in the Rio pattern features a relaxed yet ordered arrangement of blue bands, from wide to pinstripe. As its name suggests, Rio evokes the spirit of the artisans and craftsmen of the Southwest!

And finally, this Corsican brass cradle features fine rounding curves, along with sleek straight lines, which combine a traditional look with striking style. A delicately scrolled valance rod and perfectly rounded filials add to its unique appeal, from Corsican, and there they are, goldroadfanatic!

(Dian models it)

cornelius is going to play Step Up.  I want you to pick out the least expensive prize of these four, and we'll show you the price of the first prize you pick.  Then, pick the least expensive prize of the three remaining prizes.  If the second prize is higher in price than the first prize, you'll win those two prizes and $500.  You can stop there, or risk those prizes and $500 and pick out the least expensive prize of the remaining two.  If the third prize you pick has a higher price than the first two prizes, you'll win those three prizes and another $1,000, for a total of $1,500.  You can stop there or risk it all and if the last prize is more expensive than each of the other three prizes, you'll win all four prizes, another $1,500, for a total of $3,000!

(applause)

But, should you go on and you pick a prize that is lower in price than the ones you picked before it, you will lose everything.  With that in mind, what would you like first?  Remember pick the prizes in order from least expensive to most expensive.

(http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/6765/stepup1.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/502/stepup1.png/)

DING(applause)

Five hundred seventy-six dollars.  I'd say you made a great pick with that prize.  Now, pick something that's more than $576, keeping in mind you're trying to pick the least expensive of the remaining prizes.

DINGDINGDING(mixed applause and groans)

Sixteen seventy-nine.  That's a step up, all right; but was that too big of a step up?  You won the dinnerware, the hockey table, and $500.  You can stop right now with those two prizes and $500, or you can go on and pick out something that's higher in price than the hockey table, to win three prizes and $1,500.  What do you want to do?

cornelius, you're taking home the dinnerware, the hockey table, and $500.  But let's see what the other prices were…

(http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/6765/stepup1.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/195/stepup1.png/)

The cradle was $2,199, that should have been saved for last; and you should have picked the chest second, at $1,089.  You could have picked the cradle next to win three prizes and $1,500.  But you took the sure thing; enjoy your prizes, cornelius, and we'll see you at the wheel!

And it won't be long before we see cornelius again, we're going to have the first showcase showdown after this!

Thank you, George!  We've done quite a bit of winning here on the first half of our show-kassilynn won a car, so he'll spin last.  GSNSmashFan3 won a sailboat and other prizes, he'll spin second.  cornelius is no slouch himself; he won two prizes and $500 in Step Up.

All three of them are trying to get as close to $1.00 as possible without going over and whoever has the highest score will advance to the showcases at the end of the show.  I hope we can give away bonus money on the wheel, should one or all three of our contestants score one dollar in one or a combination of two spins.  cornelius, you'll set the pace, good luck!

Spinning Order:
cornelius
GSNSmashFan3
kassilynn

(Please post two numbers from 1 to 20 as well as the lowest score you'll stand on if you get it in spin #1)

(beep)

Thirty cents, and he's not satisfied with that.  Here he goes again!

(beeps)

What will we add to that 30 cents?  I hope it's not 75 or 95…

(http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/6049/scsdscore55.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/109/scsdscore55.png/)

(beep)

Right in the middle; 55 cents more, for a total score of 85 cents, which is going to be tough to beat.  Right over there, cornelius.

DING(applause)

Now GSNSmashFan3 is going to spin the wheel!

(beep)

Sixty-five cents, spin again!

(beeps)

What will we add to that 65?  This is looking pretty interesting, if that quarter comes on down…

(beep)

And it did, for a score of 90 cents;  GSNSmashFan3 is now in the lead!

DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING(applause)(Walking 2007)

Right up here, Cyclone.  You're the last of the first four contestants to make it on stage, and I want to reward you for your perseverance by giving you this!

(door #3 opens)(Splendido Piano)

It's a lovely baby grand piano!

(applause)(Janice models it)

From Story & Clark, the Artist baby grand piano's size belies its full, rich sound – comparable to that of larger, more expensive grand pianos.  Finished in polished ebony, this piano comes with USB and HDMI inputs and the exclusive PNOscan, an  optical sensor strip that converts your performance into digital information, opening up a world of connectivity and ways for you to use your piano!

Cyclone, you're going to play Bonkers.  The price of the piano is not $4,236.

(http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/2991/bonkersp.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/3/bonkersp.png/)

But if you believe the first number is higher than four, put the disc above the number.  If you believe it's lower than four, put the disc below the number.  You'll repeat the process with the other three numbers in the price.  When all four discs are in place, run back over here and push this down.

(hits plunger)

BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

That sound means you have something wrong; run back over there and make changes to the discs' positions.  Then, come back over here, and maybe you'll hear this.

DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING(applause)

That means you've won the piano!  Ordinarily, you would have 30 seconds in which to win, but because we're on a message board, I'll give you five chances to win.  Good luck; on your mark, get set, go!

But it was higher.  You don't win another roll with that, but you will win one roll if you can tell me if the soap pads are higher or lower than $8.79.

I think I bought some of these recently, so I'll go lower.

And he's right; you have a total of two rolls, thepriceis_J.  On each cube, there are three cars and cash amounts of $500, $1,000, and $1,500.  Take these five cubes up the stairs and roll them down the chute.  You need to roll five cars to win the car, but you can quit with the money at any time.  Shake the bucket up and let 'em roll!

(I am using the dice roll generator on random.org.  Please select a number from 1 to 20 to determine how many times you'd like to roll the dice).

DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING(applause)(Walking 2007)

Hag is coming back to join me at the big doors for the next pricing game.  How are you Hag?  You have an interesting opportunity; you are the first contestant in over three years to win prizes in a particular game?  I'm sure some of you have a good idea of what I'm talking about, but Hag, feast your eyes on these!

A brass telescope and a new HDTV!

(applause)

First, from Cape Cod Telescopes, the brass telescope is 34" long, has a 30x power, 60mm achromatic objective lens, roof prism erecting system.   It features a a positive finger-tip focusing system that allows definitive clarity at great distances and comes with a 52" tall tripod finished in solid oak!

(Kathleen models it)

Second, from Samsung, this 65" LED HDTV features a full 1080p resolution, and features the innovative Clear Motion Rate of 240 which allows you to experience sharp picture quality, even when you are watching fast-moving images like sports or action movies.  The Wide Color Enhancer Plus allows you to see picture color the way the director originally intended, from Samsung, and there they are, goldroadfanatic!

(Janice models it)

Hag, you're the first person since 2009 to play the Bargain Game.  Unfortunately, it is no longer named after the founder of The Price is Right, Ezekiel Barker.

(groans)

But you can still win the two prizes by picking the one with the bigger bargain, the one that is more below its actual retail price.  Is it the telescope at $1,180 or the HDTV at $1,350?

Twenty-six fifty, for a difference of….

Thirteen hundred dollars, you're a winner!

Contestants not appearing on stage will receive a new set of cordless phones!  From VTech, this seven handset DECT 6.0 expandable cordless phone features an answering system, voice announce caller ID, push-to-talk & HD audio!  And, a new sofa!  From Jennifer Convertibles, the Kurt sofa is upholstered in chocolate corduroy with tufted backs and deep seats.  And now, here's goldroadfanatic with our showcase showdown!

Thank you, George!  All three of these people beside me have won their pricing games.  thepriceis_J won a new car in Let 'em Roll, Cyclone won a piano in Bonkers, and Hag won two prizes in the Bargain Game.  Now let's see if we can give away as much as $26,000 on the wheel.  If you can score one dollar in one or a combination of two spins, you will win $1,000 and a bonus spin.  In the bonus spin, if you land on a green section, you will win $10,000 more, and if you land on that dollar again, you will win $25,000 more!

The player with the highest score will advance to the showcase at the end of the show.  Hag, step over there and set the pace!

All right, thanks.

Just as an idea, as a courtesy for the two players not doing anything in the show at the moment (the first two to play in each half), sending a PM alerting to the showcase showdown (and in the case of the winner of the first showdown only, alerting to the showcase round) might be a good step to add for hosts in general, but I know this is a per-host preference what they do.  It would prevent some of these 24h timeouts however.  I was busy yesterday, but if I got a PM sometime after I actually checked in I would have been here to give my numbers by the evening at the latest.  I'm worried j might not even realize we're in the showcase showdown. :)

Hag: $6,319

Total Show Winnings: $97,322

Notes:
*Step Up is played for the second time in this series.  It was played all the way back on episode #8 in 2007, where the contestant bailed out after two prizes were won.  Bonkers and Let 'em Roll also saw their second playings ever in this show (their first playings were in episodes #11 and #6, respectively), and their first ever wins in this series.
*Card Game and Secret "X" were played for their third times in this series.  This is the first win in Card Game ever and this is the first Secret "X" win since episode #2 in 2006.  Both games were previously played in episode #17.
*Had I not played Pass the Buck on episode #23, I would have played it here, to have the trifecta of Season 30 games in one show.
*I've broken the $2 million mark in winnings ($2,048,239), thanks to everyone who helped this series reach that milestone.
*This will probably be the last show until November or so, when I hope to time it right to make a holiday-themed show, something I've never done here.

As always any questions or comments are welcome.

Was that showcase really over $20,000? Wow, that's all I can say.

Ah well. I had a lot of fun, though. I also get to update my signature for the first time in well over a year.

Must've been the dune buggies.  Did you only bid on one of them? ;)

(Teasing of course.)
