This was the 3rd of the three shows that I was in the audience for, and I truly must say that--even though I always try to stay positive about "The Price is Right" in general--this show screamed of epic failure save for a few bright spots.

For starters, the pages must've been drinking too much because they were seating audience members 10 minutes prior to showtime; audience members were being situated in "Winner's Row" (the places where the contestants sit after playing their games).  Meanwhile, I was #066 for this taping, but the pages pulled a few single-party audience members to the side; those people got spots in whatever was left over after everyone else was seated, and I got shoved all the way to the back row next to sound mixer David Vaughn's booth underneath the giant TPIR logo next to wherever the audience files in from.  Suffice it to say--and please feel free to censor me even though this is coming from my heart--I was really pissed after the taping had ended.  I was pissed off and wiped out:  which is not a really good combination for me.  Add to the fact that an entire section of the audience sitting in front of me DID NOT APPLAUD OR CHEER--they sat there and did NOTHING throughout the whole damn show--and you have epic fail.  Period.  :-x

Second, I have no idea what Stan was drinking on this day, but this set of contestants today--except for Mildred--screamed of epic fail.  You had one who was always asking "does your picture come with the prize?" or something on those lines, and you had another one who was a wee bit over the top when it came down to the "sound effects lady" gag in One Away.  On the other hand, the only bright spot today was Mildred, who won one of the greatest spin battles that I have personally seen.  I have never before seen a 2OT spin-off before, but a 3OT spin-off!?  That was the fun spot today.

As for today's lineup, it screamed of epic fail.  No...not epic fail, ABSOLUTE FAIL!  I mean, Punchy 6th is cool and all, but the rest of today's lineup was just plain god-awful.  ALL SIX--count 'em, ALL SIX--pricing games were the games that I saw two days prior to when this show was taped!  That's right, the games that I saw during today's show (taped 5/27 @ 12:00 PM) were the same damn games that I saw played during the 12:00 PM taping on 5/25!  Fail, fail, and more fail.

As for today's Showcases, I called for "The Big One" in chat today, and we sure did have a "Big One" in chat.  I felt really bad for Mildred because she got saddled with another evil random-trip Showcase.  The good news about today is that I can start making plans for next year's trip out to L.A.

Seriously though, 4 out of 6 IS ridiculous. I suppose different weeks gave them a mild excuse, but that's gotta be rough for the audience members who were there for both.

Also, this is starting to get to epidemic level with trips. Can't we just have cars...or...boats...or even TRAILERS as top prizes again? I'll even take motorcycles. But there's so many trips now.

It's not you...the DP podium was repainted a little while back to a lighter shade of blue. It's been like that for a little while now.

*STANDING OVATION*

This is starting to get ridiculous with the repetitious lineups and games!    Why can't we get some different stuff?  We had time for some other games today, even if Punchboard was on the lineup!!!!!

Also, this is starting to get to epidemic level with trips.

We're beyond epidemic.... I'd call it now a Phase 6 pandemic!   Showcases should be different, yes, but not have trips all the time.  Put in some cars, I agree....

Thanks for the report, Bully. Man, that's got to stink seeing almost all the same games you had already seen on a previous taping. The lineup might be a "fail" but the slotting sure wasn't.

Even though Punch a Bunch last is very, very awesome, I still don't like seeing the same games week after week, day after day. C'mon guys, pull out Dice Game or Card Game (it feels like forever since Card Game's been played). Show us a little variety in the lineups. This is beyond ridiculous, it's to the point of being atrocious.

What's up with all the trips being  the anchor prizes in the showcases? C'mon give us at least some boats, trailers or even motorcycles as the top prizes. This is getting atrocious.

The entire staff must have already mailed it in for this season. I have a feeling it ain't gonna go out with a bang.

To be fair though, the Waverunner WAS the top prize of showcase 1 today. :p But it almost doesn't feel it with the frequency of these trips.

Well, the lineup really wasn't anything to write home about, but I did think it was better than Friday's disaster. But this one was still pretty boring. Punchboard 6th was a nice treat though. I hope Adam starts putting some of the other cashers (especially Bag or Halfy) 6th more often. And Double Prices really does not do it in the 1 hole for me. Too boring and quick for a first game, plus it feels blatantly out of place for some reason.

Dubba: Sheesh. Both prices end in the same three numbers?!?! No wonder it wasn't won.
OA: I liked Katherine's enthusiasm. But, this one is tough for a Joe Plinko. Most regular people would think a car ends in 5 instead of a 7, not knowing the whole Paint and Fabric Protection rule. This is also at least the 3rd time I remember seeing this truck this season (once on Any Number, once on Cover Up).
Hi Lo: That hand soap would have gotten me too. Pretty much all of those products looked somewhat expensive. The Gold Bond can be frustrating and tough to gauge with all the different sizes.
1RP: Both were much cheaper than I expected. Designer crap claims another victim. You had to really be pulling for someone like Mildred.
Any Number: Thought the cutlery set was less than that. Interesting to see a Hyundai.
Punchy: Tough SPs. But, you have to admit, considering there was one only one punch, much worse than $500 could have been won.

SCSDs: Epic showdown. I was pulling for Mildred. McCall (or whatever her name was) came across as a drama queen who was taking the show too seriously.

SCs: Pretty straightforward. More trips. There's a shocker. Let's at least get an occasional trailer or boat if we absolutely can't have cars. I was surprised at how cheap 2 was. Thought dinners for a year would be $$$$.

Poor, poor show to begin the week.

I would have won Double Prices simply because of the color of the price tags. And I'm not even kidding.  :P

One Away was set up to be lost exactly how it played it. 5 and 7 shouldn't be options for the last number unless 5 is right.

I was looking at the products in Hi Lo as they were described thinking "That's got to be in the high row....so is that....so is that" for all except the V8. That was tough.

Workout clothes and excercise equipment? I understand that they go together, but if you don't like working out (like myself  :P), it's pointless. I think they should have 2 unrelated things in games like this.

On a side note, I would have picked the excercise equipment, simply because I figured the clothes were more expensive. Go figure.

Any Number gets played a lot, don't it?

It's the Punchboard. Yay. Somehow, I'm lessed enthused about this game when there's only 1 punch won. But hey, I'd take $500 easily.  :P

Showcase Showdown number 2 was fun to watch.  :-)

Double Prices ain't a bad first game in my opinion. I mean yeah it's boring and quick--but we could also say that about 1 Right Price. Honestly, i'm glad to see DP being played 1st.

Speaking of 1 Right Price, I was surprised to see that. I mean Switch? is due any day now and I thought Switch? would show before 1RP.

I am very patient with this show as a whole, but these past six shows have made about 90% of that go away. It isn't even that much stupidity gameplay-wise - although in every skunking, there is a little, and I'll get to that. It's just been HARD to win EVERYTHING recently - not just the car games. Themeless SCs have finally tired out on me and are super-cheap - what the hell? I am hopeful some great single show broke the budget and it'll show up in Couples Price Friday. Is it all the DSWs (8)? No one's gotten to the big prize in Goldy. Car wins are still overall low, even though we had a couple of 2/2 PGs + SC w/ car won combos recently. It's frustrating to not understand why we need budget mode now, unless at the end of the season they always want to minimize things. But MAN - without Roger, it is extremely conspicuous what is going on, and that is probably the main problem in all of this - Greco is extremely inferior to DOB in her ability.

-Lineup: Adam gave us a nice one today, with DP starting off and Punchy nicely last.
-Skunking: -3
-DP: WTF, this was even worse than last time. >_< (I did have this price memorized) 8/10
-OA: I aced this in 5 seconds. I was hoping for 24665 so she'd win it like the Subaru, but it played out as expected. 8/10
-H/L: I'm split whether this was hard or not. The soap didn't look that high. 7/10
-SD1: 4/5
-ORP: This was the stupid play of the day. Home gym. has. a. nice. price. Clothes. add. up. to. a. weird. price. 7/10
-A#: Blah. 7/10
-Punchy: Hopeless. 7/10
-SD2: Nice to see, I guess, but no dollar. 5/5
-SC1: Not going to give the expected stuff a comment anymore, like showdown. 4/5
-SC2: 4/5
-Results: Wow, 2 was really cheap. Learned that the dinner membership is <500, hmmph. 8/10
-Drew: What was up with H/L? Really seemed down today overall too. 7/10

PGs: 44/60
SDs: 9/10
SCs: 16/20
Drew: 7/10

76 - 3 = 73 --> C

One Away:  Yet another evil setup!
SCSD#2:  It seemed like it was never going to end, but it was neat to see a 3-way tie though.
Showcases:  Too many trips (again!)! I could think of better prizes to end Showcase 1 with, such as a jeep or a convertible.  I mean, I have nothing against waverunners, I just think a convertible or a jeep would've worked better.

Not too good today, IMHO.

I’m not going to go game-by-game today like I usually do, only because I only have a few things that I want to say about this episode today. First off, I enjoyed seeing Double Prices first. I say this because it’s rarely seen in the first slot. I also say this, because to me, it’s nicer to see it played in slots other than fourth or sixth.

Also, Punch-a-Bunch last for the first time since November 3rd., 2005 was a nice little treat as well. I agree with Rob, the games in the lineup were redundant, but the slotting was nice.

We also had another rare sighting in the form of a 3-way tie.

Opening:  Hello, BigJon! :-D

Dubble:  God, I wish Side By Side would be played first now.

Punchy:  There's a good way to assure that today's show would be winless--play Punchy last and make the SPs damn near impossible.

SCSD #2:  And this was the highlight of an otherwise mundane episode.  A three-way tie at 95 cents that ultimately became a triple overtime.

My showcase bids:
Barbados/waverunner--$24,107
New York/Japan--$16,107

Punchy:  There's a good way to assure that today's show would be winless--play Punchy last and make the SPs damn near impossible.

That just really bothers me when the game is hard enough to win as it is---at least the big money--why go to all the trouble to make all the SP's so tough at best 1 is gonna be won. Honestly, I'm surprised today wasn't a wipeout. They do that with the SP's here and they do so with Plinko. I just wanna know what in the world they're thinking.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention this earlier about the winless show. I truly believe those in charge have something against pricing games being won. Seriously. I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen more and frankly, with all the 1 win or 2 win shows we've seen this season we really could have had more. These setups (and i'm all for difficult setups) are borderline unfair and bizzarre.

BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY: Glemious
SHOW GRADE: 2

Bulldog, I have to agree that this show was a failure. The pricing in the games was so ugly that it actually annoyed me to death! I keep stupidly thinking that the producers are finally getting it; then we see an episode like this!

When I saw the angle of the Price Tag and the car I thought we would see Dice Game today. However there was nothing wrong with One Away.

Seems like Any Number is starting to be redundant like Money Game, Lucky 7, and TTM.

Showcases: GOOD LORD stop relying on trips as the big prize! Throw in some variety examples you staffers can use to add variety : a boat, a trailer, watercrafts, or even a new car!

Second, I have no idea what Stan was drinking on this day, but this set of contestants today--except for Mildred--screamed of epic fail.

Bully, Bully, Bully... we don't share much in taste, do we?  You didn't like any of my favorite three contestants today, and outright blasted two of them :P!

First, since you didn't specifically complain about Glemious, may I ask why you didn't like her?  She was a genuinely fun screamer.  Those are usually fun to have around, and I felt Glemious was no exception there :).

Quote from: GoldenBulldog
You had one who was always asking "does your picture come with the prize?" or something on those lines

I thought McCall was a lot of fun, actually.  Just seemed so hyped into it all, and the whole picture thing was just a fun little thing.  She was very aware of all the goings on, and a lot of fun for it.

Quote from: GoldenBulldog
and you had another one who was a wee bit over the top when it came down to the "sound effects lady" gag in One Away.

Katherine may have been a little over the top with it, but I'm just convinced she's a loyal friend and true more than anything else for it, knowing how the routine works, and putting her own little twist on it.  It was a bit over the top, admittedly, but I thought she was pretty enjoyable, regardless.

I know I don't share much of a uniformity here, but that's just me in a nutshell.  :P

First, since you didn't specifically complain about Glemious, may I ask why you didn't like her?  She was a genuinely fun screamer.

I didn't complain about Glemious, but I didn't specifically state that I didn't like her.  She was actually quite fun to watch.  :P

I thought McCall was a lot of fun, actually.  Just seemed so hyped into it all, and the whole picture thing was just a fun little thing.  She was very aware of all the goings on, and a lot of fun for it.

Unfortunately, she was doing the "picture" thing over and over again; it just felt very "repetitive" in nature to me.

Katherine may have been a little over the top with it, but I'm just convinced she's a loyal friend and true more than anything else for it, knowing how the routine works, and putting her own little twist on it...

I happen to agree with you about that looking back at the show.

I know, I know...haven't showed up in this area of the board lately due to house remodeling, but I do have one burning question:

What do we call that cue used for the third One Bid (the computer) today?  Is that the one we refer to as M1?  I know it's not available anywhere, but it'd be nice if it was.

I wanted to mention this, and i'm surprised no one else has, but it's probably good Punchy played out the way it did. Just imagine if $10,000 was won and still having to call the show a "skunk" because the $25k wasn't won. That doesn't really sit right with me and it shows to me just how changing the amount for Punchy really wasn't thought out very well at all.

One Away was absolutely "unfair" today with the last digit not being 5.

No it wasn't. This wasn't the first time a "5" was a possiblity for the final digit and wasn't the correct digit.

One Bid 1: I didn't know it was possible to get a bootleg copy of Imagine That in your backyard this early....

Double Prices: Now I know the game looks brighter than before. Didn't matter because of the loss and the game in general.

One Away: "Oh, Mighty Sound Effects Lady, please help me out!" She did with the buzzer and the horns. ha.

Hi-Lo: That soap can be a tricky one; I still wouldn't pick it if I saw the Gold Bond Powder.
(One more thing: I liked the cue for the products, but I don't think it fits good for grocery products on this show.)

1 Right Price: I was thinking the wardrobe would be the higher price, so I picked the home gym. Strategy was right, but it was the wrong pricing.

Any Number: I would have gotten the 2 and the 1 for the car. I wouldn't win the car anyway.

One Bid 6: Ugh, I hate it when at least two are up for banishment and we're at least 0 for 5. My money's on McCall anyway. Maybe she can help us.

Punch-a-Bunch: "Oh, we need a miracle in the worst way."

Done.

Wow. Reading Goldy's post brings the point home a little bit with his post.

The spinoff in the second Showcase Showdown was among the greatest I've ever seen.

The rest of the show was below average.

Nice to be able to go on summer vacation and watch this show, nu? :-D

Double Prices & One Right Price: As always, the most boring games on the show. But alakazam!!
One Away: The last digit was 7. 7?!?!
One Bid 5: I liked how that random punk guy was standing on stage with the models.
Punch a Bunch: Talk about a bunch of punch... I loved McCall and how she was winding up her wrist. All for $500.
SCSD #2: I WENT INSANE!!!

Double: WOW!! Talk about getting it out the way at once!! Too bad.

One away: OK, You might want to throw the daggers out at me, but Katherine really annoyed me throughout this playing of the game and in the showcases as well. The way she said the "Ol' Mighty Sounds Effect Lady" line was easily the most irritating I've ever heard it said and I have no sympathy for her loss, either. I'm sorry.

Hi lo: John doomed himself in after not choosing the Gold Bond as one of the "Hi" products.

1RP: I Hate Workout Wardrobes!!

Any #: Knife set beats the hell out of the piggy bank any day.

Punch: Man, Poor Mccall just didn't have luck on those sickening SP's. I'm glad she got out of it with a nice $500 and there's no picture of Drew that comes with it, either.

SCSD #2: I guess Y&R (or the Noon news) started 10 minutes late didn't it?  :-D

A 2-star show.

I swear I didn't read this thread before seeing the replay.

I guessed $16,900 for the food showcase.  :dsw:

I also guessed $17,300 on the outdoors/Barbados showcase, so not too shabby there either.

Eagerly awaiting Friday and the end of the Priceless Summer.
