Even though there was only one win all day, this was by far the funnest show I have ever seen in ALL of the show's 37 years.  I hope they do it next year.

I loved the different game show references with WoF, J!, and MG.  The opening title were hilarious and the c'mon downs at the beginning were kinda cool on the foreign languages.  The Bill Cullen Studio shoutout was fantastic, but I'm sure it'll ruffle feathers here.  The 666 bid wasn't scripted, but it turned out hilarious too.  You know she didn't mean it until it was too late.  Aww, forget it...the whole show was nothing but fun.  That's what I want.  FUN!

One negative was definitely the Floor Clock Overload on Most Expensive.  I was really hoping Drew would say something like "You're actually playing for $10,000."  Oh well, the hardest setup was the only one that won.

FIVE STAR SHOW!!!  NO, SIX STAR SHOW!!!

Oh!  The Match Game closing was awesome!!!

I'm scared I'll be in a minority here, but I haven't had so much fun watching the show in ages! I felt like the energy was super high in the BB Studio, and some really amazing contestants came on down. Drew was on top of his game and then some, and Kathy Kinney as Mimi actually did a decent and subtly funny job modeling the prizes. I loved how they mixed backgrounds (such as snow for the water ski) and was always wondering what was coming next. I loved the subtle things, especially the Cliffhangers Music at the Big Wheel (my favorite of its assorted noises) and the Match Game music for Pushover and Cover Up. The attention to detail today was meticulous! I loved the broken down car in Gas Money, too--it just added more to the effect!

Overall, I don't think we could have asked for a better April Fool's episode. It was just a blast. I'm sure a lot of people around here will have hated it and complain about how it was a slap in the face to tradition. I'm not one of them. I think when you have a chance to let loose and have fun (and it was clear EVERYONE was enjoying themselves on the show today) doing something special, take it while you can get it.

Awesome, awesome episode.

Definitely a parody, but I enjoyed it.

What I liked:

--Shoutout to Bill Cullen=awesome

--I wonder how accurate Rich really was with those foreign "Come On Down's" used in the opening.  Plus, the bizzaro-world logo at the beginning was fun.

--I loved hearing those Match Game cues.  It never really crossed my mind that they could be used for Thinking cues.

--I think they did a good job incorporating Kathy Kinney as a model.  It didn't distract from the gameplay, and it was pretty funny for the most part.

--Yay for Gas Money!  I would have picked $23,814, but Dee Ron did a bad job at picking prices.  Why would you start with the one closest to the one you picked?

--I had a feeling Mimi had the most expensive clock.

What I didn't like:

--Those glasses.  Boy those wore on me fast.  Everyone kept losing them or taking them off.  I'll put this one into "good in theory, bad in practice" file.

--I really didn't like that Dee Ron couldn't see the prizes he was bidding on in the Showcase.  I know they're trying to get down with goofiness, but that really left a bad taste in my mouth.

They put a lot of thought into this, which I appreciate.  If they're going to go overboard, they might as well go all-out.

By God, this was terrific.  The MG music used not only in Cover Up and Push Over, but also at the end of the show after the Showcases.  Anyone else notice the final of the First Four, Rich didn't even say "Come On Down", or "Gyere Le", or "Ελάτε κάτω", or something, just the contestant's name.  And, yes Joe Capitano, the MG think music does blow the current think music on Cover Up out of the water by a mile.  I also loved the Cliffy music slow down as the wheel slowed down.  Personally, the Groucho glasses seemed a bit overdone.  Ah well, that's the price we pay for an April Fool's show.  Overall, six stars out of five.

P.S. Anyone get a screencap of the reversed TPiR logo?  PLEASE POST IT!!

Actually, given the potential for distractions and focus on Drew with today's "Groucho glasses" gimmick, I thought there were few, if any, such moments. It played out quite well.

Even though there was only one win all day, the gameplay was pretty good. I too thought that it was odd to offer three clocks in Most Expensive, but hey, everyone's got their own tastes so I suppose, to each his own! (If it were me, though, and remember I speak only for myself, I'd keep the least expensive one and sell the other two at a flea market for cash).

I also liked the fact that several of the crew members got shown on TV. Makes them feel important, and shows that Drew gets along with them great. When everyone gets along, the BBS is indeed the happiest place on earth. Now, if they had only gotten surviving members of the families of Bill Cullen, Dennis James and Johnny Olson to come on down ... .

For the record — Yes, I am sure that had Gas Money been won, he would have gotten a new model (perhaps the new 2010 model?), not the beat-up one shown.

Great to hear Splendido again! InanitmateCarbonRod: They used the MG cue as "think music" for years on that game show.

Most Expensive: When was the last time three prizes were so similar? a floor clock, a floor clock, a floor clock?  Is this the first time that the contestant playing this game could NOT say "the floor clock" to state her pick?

Coverup: Joe, not only was it Denver booted, it was ticketed all over, too.

Grocery Game: Anyone else notice that the clip on the tv was going backward?

Kathy Kinney: I must have been in a cave the last few months.  I believed them when they said this is Mimi, since I don't remember ever seeing her on air.  I didn't know this was coming.

Now, as a game show critic and someone who has been on the TPIR case for a lot of what they have done wrong over this season. It is time to praise them when they did something right.

This was inspired lunacy. The attention to detail was impressive. Not everything was a hit. But the Match Game music was AWESOME and off the charts. You know they did everything right when they changed the FONTS on every Grocery Game Card.

Much props to the TPIR crew on this one. Show of the year so far...so far away from a pie fight and hockey fight, no?

That was one hilarious show. Here are my own thoughts on this:

Opening: Rich telling the first four to "Come on Down!" in different languages and the backwards TPIR logo were just the beginning. And Studio 33 is now the Bill Cullen Studio! Drew as the host of the Craig Ferguson Show? Well, by the time they show Mimi, there'll already have been two Drew Carey Show references here.

Pushover (with Match Game '7x think music!): One push too short...

Gas Money: Mimi returns! Too bad he lost, and I, for one, didn't expect the big buzzer to precede the losing horns.

Grocery Game (with the prices in different random fonts instead of that hated More or Less script): She thought three was her lucky number (buying three of everything), but turns out, it wasn't that lucky, because that Evil Random Nesquik Drink did her in.

SCSD1 & 2: Random funny noises while the Wheel is spinning! My favorite would have to be the Cliff Hangers music that slows down once the wheel does. One thing I would've liked to hear, though, is the One Away horn. That would've been hilarious!

Most Expensive (for three floor clocks!): I'll bet Mimi would've beaten up Debra if she hadn't picked #2 (the prize where she was at). Thankfully, we'd never have to find out.

Cover Up (with Match Game '7x think music!): I picked 9 as the fourth number, and lost. I remember when GM cars used to end in -95, but apparently, that is no longer the case.

Freeze Frame: For a moment, we almost didn't get to see the splitscreen shot, but luckily, DiPirro came to the rescue. $3598 was the only one that looked right to me, as two of the same thing usually end in an even number.

Showcases: I liked the Showcase where everything was shown backwards, and best of all, they played Splendido and that jazzy variant of the '83 car cue. Good call with Dee Ronn's $1 bid, because I knew Debra bid way too much.

Miscellaneous: Lots of funny stuff on this show. I especially enjoyed the Turntable spinning around endlessly, and it almost looked like Manuela was going to get motion sickness. And I never thought that time would come when Mimi would get through a whole episode of a show starring Drew Carey without calling him a pig, not even once, but I knew she was doing that in her mind. And they played the Match Game '7x theme to end the show. What a great nod to a classic Goodson-Todman game show, although I somehow expected them to play the old Family Feud theme somewhere in the show, and was disappointed when they didn't. Great April Fool's episode, and a YouTube-worthy one at that. Can't wait to see what they do for Season 38.

Just remember they do it every time they open "Grand Game"...but that's just being trivial (Maybe next year, they can use FF's Winner Cue to do it...Never too early to plan for next year). I haven't seen the show yet, but based on the descriptions it looks like it can almost forgive most of the "Bad" shows this year...Almost. Can't wait to watch later.

Well, that was different.  Interesting, even.  Certainly not as bad as I was imagining it, but I wasn't blown away like many of you guys were.  As long as they can keep this sort of show to once a year, anyway.

You know, today would've been the perfect day for them to use the Shell Game table for Grocery Game again.  Speaking of Grocery Game, the Tarn-X is back again?  Guess that means it was a Now price back on Monday.

Push Over and Freeze Frame together felt oddly appropriate today :).

I really don't understand why Dee Ron picked $23,814 as "not the car price" when he picked $22,370 for the car price.  It's one of those things that, even if they've never seen the game before, you would think people would instinctively realize that they should pick the price they feel is least likely the car price.

Call me a fool, but I guessed $9850 in Push Over.  Guess there's a distinct line between weird and evil.

Despite that the best-looking even-numbered price was correct in Freeze Frame, I'd hardly call it easy.  I myself fell into the "there's no way they're that cheap" trap.

Most Expensive was pretty easy considering all three prizes were floor clocks.  Guess it helps that the one that looked the most expensive was the most expensive, anyway.

Seeing the presentation for the fourth item up for bids, with the turntable continuing to spin even as Drew and Debra were walking back to Most Expensive, was admittedly very nifty.

What a show, never have I laughed so hard in all my life!  Right from the opening, I was in stitches

Push Over  WOOT, Match Game think music!  I almost thought someone was going to throw in a Dumb Dora question or something

Gas Money MIMI!  Enough said!

Grocery Game One chocolate milk too many, what a heart-breaking loss

SCSDs To hear different sound effects in both SCSDs instead of the standard beeps was hilarious.  To think the Yodelly Guy music in SCSD1 got Dee Ron a dollar

IUFB4 Poor Manuela!  I thought she was going to be sick after that

ME 10K worth of clocks!  A very hard set-up, but great to see it won

Cover Up Missed it by one number :-(  It was hilarious to see a wheel clamp and parking tickets all over the car (reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Homer's car gets mass-ticketed parked outside the World Trade Center)

Freeze Frame Mid-air miniscooters, LOL!  But that was screaming to be won

SCs 1812 Overture for a bedroom and Splendido for a car, whoa!  Dee Ron used the $1 strategy effectively.  And how great was it to hear the Match Game theme played at the end of the show?

Overall I've said it many times in chat, only two words can describe today's show...

EPIC WIN!

I must admit, I wasn't a huge fan of the intro... especially considering that Jessica's Come on Down must've been in Silentville language. Like the backwards logo though.

Match Game cue!!! YES!!! I was expecting the theme music to play sooner than the end of the show, but I should've known that it was gonna come at some point. Good call!

*wheel spinning* Ya-ya-ya-ya-ya-ya-YAAAHOO!!!

Gas Money- yea, one should really be picking the prices farthest off their guess. Not sure why it wiped out today.

Pairs of prizes = even digit at the end. I overlooked that in Freeze Frame, but that's because I squashed motorcycle and motorscooter under the same definition. D'oh!

I think Most Expensive was okay today, but who actually thought it was the floor clock, like me? I mean, I can see how it's the floor clock, like today, but the fact that a friggin' FLOOR CLOCK would be the most expensive just absolutely flabbergasts me. I knew full well that the floor clock wasn't going to be the most expensive at all... but man... when I picked the floor clock, I thought I had it. I can't believe I didn't guess the floor clock.

Grocery Game... I want to see the other two pricetags.  :-D

Showcases: 21500 (Evilest April Fool's Day Prank Ever!!! [WSD]) /23500 (Garf)

Best show in a long time. And I'd also shoot the current Cover Up cue for something like the old Match Game one. Great show today.  :-)

I wasn't that crazy about today's show.  Some of the stuff was funny (cliffhanger cue during the spinning wheel, Rich's opening, and the 666 bid), but it got old fast and like Jack Wagner, was distracting from the gameplay, and those glasses were ugly!

Pushover: I would have stopped there too and lost.

Gas Money: Why does this game always show up in those 'special' shows?  Too bad it was lost on the first try.  I would have gone for 20005 and lost.

Grocery Game: I would have thought the detergent would be more expensive then it was, and I'm usually good at this game.  Even though she lost, she played well.

Most expensive: saved the show from el skunko.  THough I couldn't tell which clock was most expensive, I figured it would be the one mimi was holding.  8000 dollars?!  Wow...

Cover up: I would have gone with 23695 (only choosing for the first number ala the strategy).  The fourth number got me.

Freeze Frame: Rule of thumb, when there are two motor vehicles such as scooters or jet skiis, the last number is likely to be 98.

I couldn't hear the showcases because of construction going on outside, but it was obvious she overbid.

Despite the over sillyness, the 666 bid made the show for me.  If Bob was there, would that have been a historic moment?

-Lineup: I can excuse a non-SP today. Freezy made for a nice last game.
-Pushy: Just like last playing right? :O 7/10
-Gas: A great guess...if there wasn't paint protection. But I don't like it that, again like last time, there seems to be no strategy to eliminating choices. 18k should have been the first to go. 7/10
-Grocery: Valiant effort, but I think she lost after the Hot Pockets. 8/10
-SD1: 5/5
-ME: WOW, they really wanted to give those $$$$$ babies away! 9/10
-Cover: Using the strategy would have greatly helped here. Thanks audience for giving her no chance (although she misread it as an 8). 8/10
-Freezy: Those are SCOOTERS, not CYCLES. 7/10
-SD2: 4/5
-SC1: Alright-ish. 4.5/5
-SC2: :D You couldn't tell that was a Flex from the back. 5.5/5
-Results: Gah...she really did go crazy there. Anti-climactic just didn't suit this episode. 7/10
-Drew: Amazingly, he managed to host the entire show w/o any major sidetrackings. For that - 10/10
-All of Today's Antics: +1 for each segment

PGs: 46/60
SDs: 9/10
SCs: 17/20
Drew: 10/10

82 + 10 = 92 --> A-

Today's a day to look past the gameplay, even though it was a bit ugly with -98... :)

Today's show was great! I was laughing throughout the whole hour! Hearing the Match Game music was awesome, and  I too think they should definitely consider using it as a think cue more often. Manuela spinning on the turntable reminded me of the April Fools showcase from 1983. Overall I think this show did what it was supposed to; it made me laugh! :D

This was great stuff, from the open to the end. You know what would have been funny though, is if they had Craig Fergurson walk out as Drew Carey at the open. It would have made sense to me anyway lol.

Incidentally too, was anyone else expecting a "Pig" reference from Mimi at some point in the show? I was a bit surprised there wasn't one myself.

I was wondering about the grocery game fonts, I thought maybe they had just changed them permanently, as I really haven't watched regularly in a while.

Most Expensive was hard with 3 floor clocks, but was nice to see a win.

I loved it today, great atmosphere and plenty of fun to go around!

I think the most important part of this show's success is that Drew was on the ball, didn't belittle anything, and the games themselves weren't tampered with.  The core of the show still shined through.

This show was absolutely awesome.

I did kinda hope for some other MG thinking cues.  And maybe a Whammy horn.

(I have pics of the opening.  Imageshack isn't being nice.)

You know what kinda vibe I got from this episode? Anyone remember when "The Drew Carey Show" would do an annual episode filled with intentional errors and viewers would have to list them to enter a contest? Maybe they can do that next year.

This show was hilarious! First off, the first four contestants coming on down in four different languages was hilarious. Second there was references to Bill Cullen, Wheel Of Fortune, and the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson. Also, "185 minute price is right"?? And then there were the gag ways to model prizes. A winter setting for a waverunner, One of the models wearing a football uniform to model temmis equipment, An outdoor setting for the living room furniture and TV (that replayed a showcase showdown backwards), one model sliding off of a bed, a moon setting for the spa, and motorscooters hung in midair all gave me the giggles. That incident with the continuously spinning turntable with the Wii reminded me of that 1983 April fools showcase where they tried to model that painting. Of course, there was Mimi modeling cars with the wheels taken off, or booted with lots of parking tickets, and also modeling the lingerie and robes! (EEK!) I even noticed the abnormal fonts on the price cards in Grocery Game, the silly wheel sounds, and the Match Game PM music. (giggle) I could go on forever! I loved it! This episode definitely deserves an A plus!

Dancing Bears!  Magic Tricks!  The opening really set the tone of the show!  I wasn't disappointed at all!!

Did anyone else catch Rich saying, "You are the first FIVE contestants on The Price is Right??"

The first car up on blocks was pretty funny, too!

I thought about that during today's show.  It really reminded me of those Drew Carey "Error Shows".  I was expecting a "Rich Fields" puppet to do at least one call-out!

The only thing I didn't care for were the Groucho glasses.  They were funny at first, and I would not have had a problem with them if everyone took them off after the first One-Bid.  For the entire show, however, they became more of a distraction.

Overall, I thought the show was great!  It was clever, pretty original, and genuinely funny!  The bar is set pretty high for next year.

The show was great...Kathy Kinney as Mimi...this was a looong time in coming wasn`t it...had to happen at some point...
What was missing for me was the usual April Fools gag...with every game and showcases being ALL cars.
But,it`s nit pickary i guess.
For the opening entrance...i fully expected to see Sajak or Trebek come out on stage...

I loved today's show. I thought the Groucho glasses looked great on the audience--and Mimi was a wonderful touch. I was reminded of The Drew Carey Show in its heyday, when it was the most absurdist sitcom on TV. There was something for everyone: new viewers, 37-year show veterans, Drew fans, and diehard fanboys/fangirls. My favorite little moments on today's show: the "ouch!" sound effect on the first spinning of the wheel, the turntable that wouldn't stop spinning, the Pontiac Vibe with parking tickets and Denver boot.

All in all, it makes up for Google's April Fools' Day prank being kinda lame this year (my favorite is still "Google Gulp" from a few years back).

Ok I know I will probably get slammed for this, but in my opinion since I just watched the show, I honestly do not think it was hilarious at all.  Other than the cliffy yodel during the scsd, I just was not satisfied at all with today.   I am wondering everyones reaction was when Mimi was shown.  Knowing how much she is talked about in the chat.   I know don't comment often in the recaps, or talk negative on here, but I just did not feel the show was funny at all.

Everyone has already talked about a lot of the reasons today was awesome but I'll just say this:

The main reason today was good - EVERYTHING was in good taste. (Seriously, EVERYTHING - I have almost nothing to complain about from today. Perhaps the opening was SLIGHTLY overdone, but this is minor quibbling. To take the approach they did today they HAD to go all-out with everything.) It simply amazes me that this gem of a show came from the same producers who gave us the L.A. Kings and pie fight showcases earlier in the season. The difference here is that everything just FIT with the show. And Drew did a great job hosting - he could have easily spent the entire show laughing and putting attention on himself, and while he did laugh a lot, it wasn't in a way that he really monopolized the proceedings. The Mimi appearances were hilarious and not overdone (overdoing would have been making her talk as much as Jack Wagner did). I feel that Drew is really beginning to get what he aimed for with these shows - that being that people will keep watching because they never know what's coming next. That was certainly felt today. While I wouldn't want it to be felt to  the same extent ti it was today every day, Drew and co. in general are finding tasteful ways to give the show that unpredictability factor they want without compromising the gameplay or overall feeling that "this is The Price Is Right". Despite the bizarreness, today still very much felt  like The Price Is Right - a bizarre episode, yes, but the games shined through in a way they did not on the Wagner episode.

Everyone has said pretty much all of my thoughts about this show. I just have one thing to add: poor Manuela. She got stuck with most of the pranks. She kept spinning on the turntable, had to model deflated inflatables, etc. Must've been model initiation day. :P

I noticed that, and also, during the opening, when Dee Ron was called down, you can see another set of the "reserved" seat covers in the front row.  What do I mean by reserved?  The blue seats with the Pricedown dollar sign in a red hexagon.  My guess is that they're the leftovers from the Valentine's episode.

Opening: Just by looking at the opening titles, I had a feeling that I was in for an hour of laughs.

Pushover: The Match Game cue was awesome! That was borderline 5-digit pushover.

Gas Money: MIMI!!!! The worn down Fusion was awesome. That was a horrible wipeout.

Grocery Game: Tough loss.

SCSD #1: The Cliffhangers cue.

Most Expensive: A floor clock, a floor clock, or a floor clock. That was a tough choice, I’m not going to lie.

Cover Up: The Match Game works really well for this game. I knew it was the 1.

Freeze Frame: Tough loss.

SCSD: The “sound effects lady” was certainly living up to her name today.

Showcases: the April Fools hilarity continued.

What a great show! Mimi (Kathy) was very good at modeling today. The gags were simply hilarious. The glasses got old quickly, but after a while, I quit noticing them. The shout-out to Bill Cullen was fantastic. I agree that the Match Game cue should be kept.

Today’s show deserves two thumbs way up.  :-D

Today's show was great.   I laughed several times.   Mimi modeling Victoria's Secret - LMAO.

At the end of the show while the Match Game theme was playing, my 4 year old said/asked "That's the wrong music dad,  April Fools??"

The glasses were a bit over done, and the backwards SC was a bit unfair.

Too bad they didn't tape this show when the wheel was purple.

Keep this to 1 show a year and I'm all for it.

Some people aren't going to like that there were 3 clocks in ME, or that Dee Ronn never saw the SC2 prizes properly, or just plain dislike the Marx look, rrf. You're not required to like it, but I think it's important to note it didn't even come close to degrading the show like Wagner did.

SCSD #1:  Hans sounded a little sick today.

One-Bid #4:  I don't know about anybody else, but watching that turntable spin around and around and around and around just like at the closing of the old half-hour TNPIR made me so happy.

ME:  Three floor clocks.  Hey, that's the kind of trick that either Frank or I would pull!  They're stealing our playbooks! :P Wow, $8,425 for that second floor clock!  That one was a surprise.

Cover:  Yay!  Match Game think cue! :P Too bad I missed it the first time around during Pushy, but at least I got to hear it the second time around.

Freezy:  We were all hoping that for April Fools, Union Guy would spin the numbers counterclockwise.  Ah well.  Maybe next year.  (If there is a next year...)

SC #1:  Wow, that was one of the worst showcase bids I have ever seen.

SC #2:  Yay!  Splendido returns! :P And Kathy on camera, too! :-)

My showcase bids:
Room/cruise--$19,107
SUV--$31,107

I hope that this episode gets replayed during the Priceless Summer.  I would like to see this episode in its entirety.  (Sorry, ladies, but I have a ghetto computer.  I can't download YouTube or Innertube videos too well.)

Oh man! Today... was just awesome!!! I never expected the entire episode to fall under the April Fool's gimmick! Bravo, BBS! *standing O!*

Pushover: MG Think Cue!?!?!??! SWEET!!!!!! Too bad she was one push shy of the win.

Gas Money: Are you kidding me!?!??! The car's beat up and on cinder blocks!?!?!? And MIMI's MODELING IT!?!?!? *died while laughing* Was half-expecting her to tell Drew "Bite me, dough boy!" when he said he couldn't recognize her without her April Fool's glasses.  :D Too bad that Dee Ron didn't try to get some instant cash by picking a price that was far away from the price he chose.

Grocery Game: Nice that they did different fonts for all the grocery prices. Too bad the Nesquik did her in.

SCSD #1: Definitely liked the Cliff Hangers music during Dee Ron's spin. And to think he got the $1 off of that!  :-o

One-Bid #4: Poor Manuela! She sold the modeling great everytime the item came back into view, at least.  :-D

Most Expensive: Three floor clocks!?!??! Awesome!!! And Mimi had the Most Expensive one! Figured it'd be a dead giveaway with her standing by it, not just by the clock's appearance.  :-P

Cover Up: MG Think Cue returns!!! I'm with the majority on this one... they should definitely consider using it for this game. Too bad she didn't win the car... complete with tickets and the Denver Boot?!!? Hilarious presentation.  :D

Freeze Frame: Rotating hanging Motor Scooters!?!?  8-) Too bad she missed it by one click too late.

SCSD #2: More weird SFX during the spins!!! And I'm surprised no one mentioned how everytime Debra spun the wheel, she practically pulled the setup forward.

SC 1: I've always wanted to take a cruise on a cargo ship, and fly on a train!  :D Dunno what she was thinking by bidding that much on a cruise. Sure she may have got excited, but THAT excited!?  :-o

SC 2: Everything in reverse!!!   Even Manuela and the Ford Flex!!! She did great, even with the whole walking backward bit! Kudos to Manuela for giving it her all throughout the show! *another standing O!* And given Debra's excited bid, I and the rest of the audience didn't blame Dee Ron one bit for bidding $1.

Great April Fool's show! Hope they can keep this energy up for the rest of the season... and the rest of the show's existence! THIS... is how you do the show (minus the April Fool gags, of course.  :-P)

I think today the staff actually did something better than Roger.  While he treats us to an April Fool's showcase, the staff gave us a whole show devoted to the holiday!

I laughed at how the changed the opening spiel to mention Bill Cullen, Rancho Cucamonga, and made references to Wheel of Fortune.  I also loved the slanted titles, mirrored logo, and the reference to Craig Ferguson's Late Late Show.

I died when I heard the Match Game cues used in Cover Up and Pushover.  I personally thought they were going to bust out other game show music or sound effects like a Whammy horn from Press Your Luck.  The random sound effects used on the Big Wheel were a nice touch, especially the yodel.

It was rather amusing to see one of the on-stage crew wearing a Jeopardy! cap.

I loved all the mismatched and weird presentations for the prizes, the rewound footage of a showcase showdown, and the constantly spinning turntable for the Wii.  Also, I say that the green screens were appropriate here, to add to the ridiculousness of today's show.  To add to the ridiculousness, the cars were modified in some way, like the wheels removed and concrete blocks mounted under the Ford Fusion and parking tickets adorning the Pontiac Vibe.

That was $15,000 worth of clocks in Most Expensive.  It also was probably the first time that three of the same prize was offered, excluding cars and trips.

Even though a traditional April Fool's showcase wasn't done, the mismatched backgrounds, pictures, and staging of the prizes made up for it, coupled with Mimi modeling.

I really loved it when they played the Match Game theme at the end, to add to the zaniness of today's show.

If the staff could put this much effort into the normal shows like they did with this one, and carefully think through the aspects of it, the show would be pretty dang good and enjoyable to watch.

There was so much energy on todays show it was flowing out of the TV. It was just great. That's all I can say. Today was probably the best ever episode Drew has recorded. Maybe even the best ever! or at least with in the top 10. It was great to see Kathy Kinney. Actually for a guest model, she did awesome! The thing I enjoyed most was that every single segment was filled with something goofy or out of this world. It was funny that they did an older gag by having the turntable spin around without stopping. What was even funnier was that it was still spinning when Drew was walking back to the big doors for Most Expensive. I loved hearing the Match Game cues, especially during the credits! Thank God for Dipirro. Having Dipirro helped make this episode even better.

I bet this episode beat those ladies on that other show. Do you know what they were doing on today's episode? They were putting Whoopi through a flight stimulator. I feel bad for all of the people who turned in to The View.

Thanks to this episode, I can't wait to see what's in store for Friday's show.

PUSHY: Yay!  :-D MG Think Cue!  I was half expecting the blocks to be glued together.

GAZZY: Hi Mimi!  There's no way Dee Ron could've driven THAT out of the studio.

SCSD1: The wheel can yodel! And do fairly accurate animal impressions!

OB#4: Poor Manuela!  Spinning around and around for half the segment!

MOST EXPENSIVE: Easy Pickings.  Now Debra has to figure out what to do with $15,000 worth of floor clocks.   8-O

COVER: Yay! MG Think Cue again!

FREEZY:  Too bad they played the normal sound effect, and not the horn from One Away or something.

SHOWCASES
SC1 - $19,000
SC2 - $30,000
The showcases were kind of a let-down considering how hilarious the rest of the show was.

OVERALL:    I laughed so hard I almost split mah pants!  :hammer:  Everyone was laughing and having fun.  This is the best show they've had all season! A+!

Opening: Twisted words, backwards logo, the script, the glasses......Loved it!
Push: The next generation in snowmobiles! Off by a number, drat!
Gas: Quick loss :(.  If he won the car and the cash, he could afford the labor costs to fix that baby up and drive it home! :-P
Groc: Camping in style!  But unfortunately, THAT'S TOO MUCH!! (one milk)
SS1: LMAO! All those sound effects!  Han's song too!
ME:  I had to do a double, no, TRIPLE take!!  Three clocks, all by the same company!  And thats a win, lol!  I would have chosen the floor clock also.  Over $15,000 worth of clocks for her house or apartment!  :-P
Cove: So close!  And the MG cue again, lol!

Cover Up Missed it by one number :-(  It was hilarious to see a wheel clamp and parking tickets all over the car (reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Homer's car gets mass-ticketed parked outside the World Trade Center)
Totally agree!

Freez:  Forget Hover Rounds, its time for "Hover Scooters", lol!!  Seeing those reminded me of another Simpson's episode, that one with "The Movementarians".
SS2:  Even more sound effects!  Awesome!
Showcases:  The April Fool antics continue!

As soon as the MG theme came on at the end, did anyone else expect the spinning box at the end too? Like they did on the show?  Would have been a nice touch to add.

Overall, B-E-A-UTIFUL!  From start to finish!  Kudo's to Drew and the Crew!

For the first time in ages, the show hit a home run with a themed episode.  Everything they did today that was supposed to be funny was funny.  It also helped that Drew didn't pound every joke into our heads -- in fact, he went about the show as if everything that was going on was perfectly normal, which is part of why it worked so well.  They even threw in a treat for us game show geeks by playing music from Match Game.  Seeing Mimi was pretty cool, too -- I was really nervous about how that was going to work, but it came off just fine.

There were only a couple things that bothered me on this episode -- Most Expensive and the second showcase.  April Fool's or not, I'm not sure why somebody needs three grandfather clocks...but then again, they were really nice clocks.  It probably wouldn't be hard to unload them on eBay.  As for the showcase...I just wonder how fair it is to make someone bid on prizes they've only seen the backs of.  Then again, the Top Winner was clearly way over, so it ended up not mattering.

The Big Wheel was weird...but hey, it's only for one day, and it's supposed to be a weird day.  The best part of it was On the Franches Mountains.

I can't believe Gas Money's ended in one guess two playings in a row.

I wonder if somebody finally noticed the way Roger set up Cover Up -- I've noticed a couple 1s in there as the tens digit lately.

SPLENDIDO!!  I couldn't believe they played that during the Showcase today -- I don't think we've heard it since October!

What was missing for me was the usual April Fools gag...with every game and showcases being ALL cars.

The what?  They've done that with one of the showcases before, but the only time it's ever happened with the pricing games was on the "5,000th" show.

This show was seriously the funniest Price Is Right episode EVER! The opening made me laugh so hard, I had to watch it again cuz I missed stuff.

The attention to detail was amazing. Winter background for the Waverunner, outdoorsy setting for the living room, footage of TPIR in reverse on the TV. That, mixed with MG cues and weird sound effects on the wheel, makes for a great show. And seeing Mimi was just a treat!

Am I the only one who thinks that, with all the gags they pulled, they missed the ultimate gag (for us at least) : Rich closing the show by saying "This is Johnny Olson speaking for The Price Is Right, a Mark Goodson-Bill Toddman production" ;) :hammer:

Ay yi yi... I just plain could not stop laughing. And to top it off, I gave my friend who missed the show nightmares about the image of Mimi in Victoria's Secret, even if it was just the robe.

I'm in full agreement with the Match Game music. It was AWESOME to hear that, and I wish they had cued up a couple other themes along the way. The wheel "beeps" were very strange of course, but every one of them had their payoff when the wheel stopped. Kudos to the sound department for fishing out so many sounds to begin with. Matter of fact, could you have imagined if they cued up the Press Your Luck board effect when the wheel was spinning? THAT would have been the money shot. And I don't care if you call me a homer over that. Fremantle's got the rights, they could've and you know it.  :P

The only thing that ruined things for me today was the fact that the gameplay just went south. I just feel like having only one game won meant that all the silliness was TOO much of a distraction. I know it wasn't, but still... And on that backwards showcase, I was ready to cry foul over the lack of a clear view of the prizes, too. Luckily for that guy, the other contestant just threw it away on a cruise on a barge through swampland, past a train and a wine glass...

And Manuela proved today that riding on the merry-go-round forever is only fun when you're a kid. I wonder if she's still spinning...

I could go on forever like we all have. Bottom line, they went all out and never stopped for a moment. That's how you do it right. Congrats on a hard-to-top excellent show, guys. The end.

It was a great show. I was worried that the show would be way over the top, especially with Mimi, but it wasn't. It was really good. I don't think that I have laughed as much during a episode of TPiR before. Loved the Match Game cues, though I wish they would have used more than just the one think cue.

Everything made sense for the day. Great show.

I've got a copy of the saved.

Incidentally too, was anyone else expecting a "Pig" reference from Mimi at some point in the show? I was a bit surprised there wasn't one myself.

I too was waiting for a "Pig" comment. She actually didn't say much at all, which surprised me. People who hadn't seen "The Drew Carey Show" were probably scratching their heads about who she was.

I have to admit, had I been forced to wear Groucho glasses during my entire appearance, I'd have been a bit annoyed. Maybe should've ditched them after the first segment. Still hilarious.

The Match Game music: brilliant. A pleasant surprise.

The car presentations: brilliant.

Did anyone else notice the appliances in SC#2 were unsponsored? I guess it makes sense. If I was GE or Whirlpool I wouldn't want a show advertising the back of my product. Should they have showed him the front of that stuff, even if during commercial? Probably. Had he not had the game handed to him by his opponent's $46,000 bid, I'd feel worse about it.

Hands down what made me laugh the hardest was poor Manuela spinning and spinning and spinning on the turtable. I guess it's that kind of "WTF?" humor that gets me most. Just when you think "Alright, they'll cut to Drew and let the poor girl exit," there she is, spinning away. Even as they're walking to the big doors, there she is, STILL in the shot, still spinning away. That girl must have a strong stomach. Freakin' hilarious.

Splendido with a car had to be planned.

I was wondering why I saw a whole lot of people with those disguises. Everybody looks like Meathead Stivic.

I always wondered what the Bill Cullen Studio looked like.

One Bid 1: So they had astronauts in bikinis. Now I know the moon landing was staged... here.

Take These Blocks and Shove 'em: I acutally believed the waverunner could glide in snow.
"What??? Match Game 73 music???? That hasn't happened there since 1982!"

Shell Card Game: Do the tires and Mimi go with the car? If it does, I'll take it.

One Bid 3: I am NOT blind. Seriously.

Supermarket Blackjack: I wasn't too suprised at that prize package; reminded me of a moment on a Martin episode. I almost did not notice the wheel spinning backwards. I wanted Sarie to just buy two Nesquiks, but just this moment I realized even that won't work. Looks like we got the old slicker font on one of the cards.

Showcase Showdown 1: What was the Wheel saying to Sarie's spin? LOVED Dee Ronnie Bobby Ricky Mike's yodeling spin. The other spins were also funny.

One Bid 4: Ah, takes me back to the real old years where we would see full 360 rotations.

That's Too Much!: Does size really matter? I think it does this time because I picked 2.

One Bid 5: I need a lot of V8 vegetable juice to rev myself to inflate those tubes...

Cover (This Game) Up: Wow! More Match Game music! Well at least Mimi and I are matching.

One Bid 6: "Mimi, take me away!"

Snap(shot) Judgment: Once again, a pair of motor vehicles always get me, even if they're swung around. What was Tammy doing??

Showcase Showdown 2: Once again, the spins were titillating. I really liked the boing sound that was used. Ah, takes me back to that Big Board game with those little red creatures.

Showcases: Well, almost everything that was joked was funny. You would think Debra was joking with her 46000 bid. That was definitely no joke.
What? The on-air version of the Match Game 73 theme? Surreal!

I guess I picked a good week for Price tapings, didn't I?

Does anyone have an answer to my question about Manuela?

As far as I know, we do not.

One thing I noticed that I thought was cool...

It's hard to tell in that picture, but you could clearly see that the Grocery Game sign was still on the turntable behind the Wii package background if you were looking for it.

Tracy Eskander was listed as a stage manager earlier this season. I wonder if Shawn Shea's return has anything to do with Tracy's being related to Bart(assuming they are related, which I think they are)

I was really hoping that they would cap it all off with a

"This is Rich Fields speaking for Match Game '74. A Mark Goodson-Bill Toddman Production!"

But I suppose that's asking a bit too much. Great show nonetheless even if we only got one winner and a ridiculous bid in the showcase.

But the fact that the episode was intentionally meant to be stupid and bad and downright _____ed up is what made it sooooooo gooooooooood. :P

That was neat how they kept changing the sound effect on the Big Wheel with every spin! :-D
One thing I would've liked to hear, though, is the One Away horn. That would've been hilarious!
I agree.  The Gas Money bell would've sounded pretty neat, too.

Did anybody else notice that Freeze Frame was turning the wrong way?  I didn't know it was capable of turning both ways.

It was nice having Mimi on the show today! :-)

I hope they do this again next year! :-D

OPENING: Bill Cullen Studio...we love you, Uncle Bill. And a weird backwards logo...

IUFB #1: Da-wuh?

PUSH OVER: Match Game think cue...that was perfect.

GAS MONEY: HOLY CRAP IT'S MIMI BOBECK! AND SHE RUINED A CAR! Okay, seriously...that should have NOT been lost so quickly.

GROCERY GAME: I was kinda wanting to see what other fonts they came up with...

SHOWCASE SHOWDOWN #1: You know what disappointed me? That of all the weird sounds they used, none of them were the sounds used with the 1975 Rainbow Wheel...BOO!
=====================================================
IUFB #4: I instantly thought of the 1983 April Fool's Showcase when I saw this. Poor Manuela...

MOST EXPENSIVE: HOLY MOTHER OF ALL CRAPSHOOTS!!!

COVER UP: Yes, the Match Game music DOES go well with this game. IT GOES WELL.

FREEZE FRAME: Feh. Another contestant who doesn't THINK.

SHOWCASE SHOWDOWN #2: More weird sounds, and yet a complete lack of the Rainbow Wheel sounds - IT WOULD'VE BEEN PERFECT!
=====================================================
SHOWCASE #1: The frack? Did she INTENTIONALLY bid $46,000?!?

SHOWCASE #2: That...was a disadvantage. And never bid less than $10,000.

RESULTS: The expected. And nice shout-out to Kathy's website. Also, the Match Game theme closes out the show...why the hell not, huh?
=====================================================
SHOW GRADE: Five losses...but one win, PERFECT hosting by Drew, MIMI BOBECK, a $1000 win, a Showcase win, and--------ah, the hell with the usual...

EPIC WIN - This has quickly made up for five months of crap.

Just saw the show on CBS.com, and I must say, for a themed show, it was very well done. THIS is the way to do a themed show...it made sense, it all fit, and, in the end, it was hilarious as all could be.

The only minor gripe I have are the Groucho glasses. They got old fairly quickly.  I absolutely LOVED the presentations of the cars in both Gas Money and Cover Up.  I also loved the Match Game think cue being used in Push Over and Cover Up...I actually like them better than the actual cues.  Adding Mimi as a guest model was a nice touch, too.  Also, using the different fonts on the Grocery Game price tags was kinda cool, too (I actually liked the one they used on the Clorox better than the one they use now!) Overall, the show really couldn't have been done much better...huge props to the crew for pulling it off.

Yay...Splendido!

OVERALL: 5/5.

I'm finally getting around to posting on this show and most everyone echoes what I thought about it being funny and great, but y'know what the best part of the show was for me? I'm serious.

Freeze Frame. Last.

I'm not sure why Freezy isn't played last more often but it is one of the best quickies to end things with.

I will say also, Most Expensive was weird--3 floor clocks? (shakes his head)

It's a bad 'rush mode' game, since you can't hurry up waiting for the contestant's price to come around into the window.

LOVED the uses of the MG think music and the theme at the closing. Liked Drew's intro by Rich, as well as the "From the Bill Cullen Studio..." tagline [nice of them to give a nod to the original host of "Price"!]

Surprised there were no "Feud" references, especially with them also being a Fremantle property.

Yes, I noticed that too.  I guess it was a joke in the joke.
In Italy the announcer said nothing after the contestant's name, it might be a reference to that.

Well, It's the April Fools' show!!! Are we in for some wild antics or what? You tell me.

Opening: Well Dancing Bears and Magic Tricks makes good TV other than vowels and consonants these days.  :-D The backwards logo and the "Groucho" glasses were a bit too much.

Push: MG Thinking Music!!!!!!  :-D :-D :-D :-D Now tell me who doesn't love this timeless piece!!! $9798 or $9850 was a duel choice and I rather not tell ya my choice.

Gas Money: IT'S MIMI!!!!!!!  8-O :-o 8-O :-o 8-O :-o AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!! It's good to see her still having a boatload of makeup even after 5 years of oblivion.  :-D Now that's a car that would've been perfect as a zonk prize on the 2003 revival of "Let's Make a Deal". Oh, How Dee Ron was so close and how this game came to another quick end!! OUCH!!!

Grocery: The different fonts used looks like something that should be done more often. Beats the crap out of those "Kingpin" fonts anyday. Too bad.

SCSD #1: The "Cliff Hangers" theme stood out from the pack!!!

IUFB #4: Timeless to see that turntable spin around over and over and over and over and over and....(slaps myself) over again. Maybe Manuela does have a strong stomach.

Most: For 3 clocks??!!!  :-o :-o :-o Never thought I would see the day and the ME had to be where our dear beloved Mimi is standing by. Good win.

Cover: MG Think Cue again!!! I LOVE IT!!!! Maybe the cars today came from the auto dumpster down the street. Who knows? 1 definetly would've been my choice for the fourth digit and I would've won it. Poor Jessica didn't.

Freeze: $3598, Tammy?  :headbang:

Showcases: I would've love to see the classic 1983 AF showcases revived and see how it would've went today. Maybe next year. Debra's bid was just downright  :wotc: material and I'm glad Dee Ron went the right way with his dollar bid.

An ending with the MG theme was just amazing!!!

After months of crap showcases, This is the first time since that dark era that I actually thought everything went right and Drew looked like he really enjoyed doing this show out of everything so far this season. I applaud everyone at the "Bill Cullen Studio" for such a magnificent job!!!

A.....Oh, Why Not......A 10-STAR SHOW!!!!!!!!!

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely loved this show. I was very worried after seeing the opening (which was incredibly stupid), but the rest of the show was just amazing. The Match Game music, the football-tennis mashup, the spinning turntable, Mimi... I loved all of that. But the best thing, though, was the Big Wheel's sounds. Those were nothing short of hilarious. All in all, a very enjoyable show... I went into this fearing the worst, but was pleasantly surprised to be wrong.

BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY: Tammy

Where was the game show reference to WoF?  This show was so awesome!  I absolutely loved the different things they did throughout the show.  Too bad there weren't more winners, but it was still very entertaining.  I especially liked Mimi's appearance.  The sound effects at the Big Wheel were so hilarious.  My guess about the lack of winners on the show was because everyone was so excited about the whole show.

WOW .. late getting to the board this week so I guess everyone has summed up my thoughts on this show. GREAT-GREAT-GREAT!! Not much more I can add, but laughed all the way through.  Its so nice to see everyone having so much fun on stage.  It was a true party, and fun to watch.  My only critique would be that maybe the better decision would have been to just use the noses on the opening shots.  They were funny, but it seemed to be somewhat of an annoyance to the contestants when they were on stage with Drew and trying to concentrate on their games, and prizes. But still it worked. I did hear that Kathy Kinney was limited to what she could say "as the character, "Mimi".." That is why we did not hear of the classic "bite me pig", or "dough-boy" remarks.  Still, good to see her and I thought she did an amazing job. My favorite part was the wheel noises... hiliarious... ouch-ouch-ouch-ouch-ouch.. ha-ha Great show!!

I thought the show was great. I loved the crazy turntable (Poor Manuela!), the different sounds for the Big Wheel (though one of those sounds could have been Super Mario, a Whammy, or Elmo...), the wall clocks, and the Match game music. And of course, Mimi, though I was also surprised she didn't throw in "Pig" or "Bite me dough-boy!". As others have said, use the MG cue permanently, it works really well. And if they want to do something like this again next year, they should try using the whammy buzzer from PYL instead of the losing horns, and PYL's main theme instead of Dig We Must. And as someone else said, the One-Away horn would be great for the Big Wheel.

It's definitely my favorite episode of Carey TPIR. Fremantle has set the bar high for next year.

I can see that. There could quite possibly be licensing issues involved (read: $$$) with the character "Mimi" that Fremantle didn't want to deal with.

I didn’t really like the Groucho Marx glasses; it might be a good idea but implementing it was something else.  Also, there was something about the “Come on down” in different languages that I didn’t like.  Maybe something better would have been saying “Stand up” or “Jump on down” or some variation of the phrase but still in English.

Opening: I know the second opening title was a reference to Wheel of Fortune, but what were the other two referencing?

IUFB #3: All in all, some of the April Fool’s jokes I could have done without but it was still a wonderful idea that was well implemented.  I wouldn’t mind seeing this again next year!

Most Expensive: When I saw the three clocks, I wasn’t sure what to think in terms of gameplay.  I was thinking that all three prizes were the same price and since the clocks the contestant didn’t pick weren’t the most expensive, she must win.  Fortunately, it was still normal gameplay.

Cover Up: I actually think Drew did a good job hosting the game when it came to revealing which numbers Jessica had right.  He asked the questions separately (2nd try) which avoided confusion, which in this case would have meant a technical win.

At first, when the living room furniture was outside, I wasn’t even sure whether it was an April Fool’s jokes or not.  With this new staff, sometimes we don’t get a living room set inside a living room.  Although now that I think about it, we usually see no backdrop; here we see an outside backdrop.

SC1: My Bid: $15,787 / Diff: $5,642
SC2: My Bid: $31,987 / Diff: $1,351

Speaking of which, after thinking about it for a while, i'm honestly surprised ME was won. I mean those clocks are random and their prices can be sky high. To me, personally, any of the 3 could have been the most expensive.

With 3 cars you can at least have a good estimation of which one is most expensive, with those clocks? Welll...good luck on that.

Finally got around to viewing this episode.  This was absolutely wonderful to watch.  The only thing that I didn't like, which seems to be consensus here, is that the Groucho nose/glasses kinda got old after a while.  But everything else was fun to see (and hear, with the uses of the Match Game think cue and theme at the end).  Multiple cameos by Kathy Kinney as Mimi modeling were fun as well.  The best part, as has been said already, is that Drew didn't dwell on the April Fools antics and the shenanigans did not disrupt the game play at all.  A truly inspired show that everyone involved deserves accolades for--this was a well-done themed show.

Many aspects of this episode made me think of the annual "What's Wrong With This Episode" show they used to do on The Drew Carey Show. I think it would be cool to have a TPiR episode with a similar viewer contest component.  Have them put intentional mistakes into a show and let viewers write in identifying the mistakes for a chance at a prize.  Then, they could rerun the show in summertime pointing out all the mistakes.  This would only work if implemented similarly to how this April Fools episode was handled (i.e.: inserting mistakes without disrupting the gameplay and other core elements of the show).  If advertised well by CBS, it could become a fun annual tradition for the show that might bring in viewers.  Just an idea...

I wonder which G-R.net member would win that contest!

Don't we already point out all the mistakes everyday in this part of the forum anyway?  So the only difference is we now would win prizes.

The problem is, with this crew, we'd miss the "intended" mistakes and would point out things like, "They played the wrong music cue when they revealed the car", or "Plinko and Grand Game are never played in the same show as Double Prices when the tape date is on a Monday", or "The 'Let 'em Roll' dice were fuzzier than usual"!!

I'm in the process of watching this show for the second time in as many days after learning of it.  I gotta say that was the weirdest episode of The Price is Right I've ever seen in my life!  That being said, it was also the funniest episode of The Price is Right I've ever seen in my life!  I loved that episode and some of what I've been able to catch lately makes me think Drew is really finally coming into his own as the new host of the show.  I enjoyed that and look forward to what's coming up with the show.

I'll admit, this episode was definitely one of the main highlights of this season. I'm kind of glad CBS chose to rerun this one today.

I didn't catch the full replay. Did Mimi call Drew a pig for old times' sake?

Unfortunately, no. She was mic'd, but said little to nothing the whole show.

She did say to Drew, "Thanks for asking", during Most Expensive.
