Title: Ilovesuperball's half hour MDS. GAME IS CLOSED
Post by: jacobr1020 on July 14, 2006, 02:27:32 PM
Since I had such a disaster, I'm going to do another one. This one will be a half hour. The games will be Superball, Grand Game and Hole In One. Then the 2 top winners will be in the showcase. This time, I'll keep a script of the bids so there won't be a disaster.

I need 6 people to sign up.

I didn't know you could host a show again.......

If you are able to host this show, I'm just curious: How are you going to do Hole in One and Superball? (For that matter, how are you going to do Grand Game?)

Superball, I know you had some troubles with your first show.  I am not going to sign up for this one, but I am offering some guidance/suggestions if you think you need them.  I'd be more than happy to show you what one of my scripts look like, and some ideas for helping randomize and provide simualtions for games.

Title: Re: Ilovesuperball's half hour MDS. SIGN-UPS.
Post by: jacobr1020 on July 14, 2006, 05:18:14 PM
Here's how I'll do the 3.

For Superball, you pick a number between 1 and 20 to throw a ball, like in the showcase showdown.

For Hole In One, you pick a number between 1 and 10 to putt.

And Grand Game will not be played for $20,000. It'll be played for $50,000.

And I'll tell the prizes for the games except GG.

Superball: Trip, Travel trailer, Jaguar.

Hole In One: 2 Ford Thunderbird Convertibles.

Sigh...

Again, ilovesuperball, you didn't list the bidding order.  You need to remember to do that.  And it would really help if you told us what he was bidding on.  Can you be any more vague than "a motorcycle"?

Well, guess there's always "a prize."  But let's not go there.  And please list the bidding order.

And Futuregsh never signed up... perhaps that could be why he isn't bidding?  Why did you call him down, when he didn't sign up?  Frankly, I don't know why anyone would sign up after that last show, anyway, and you ain't making a good second impression here, either.

And again, you forgot to change your subject line.  That would also help, had Futuregsh actually signed up for your show.

Post by: Mallory16 on July 23, 2006, 05:20:10 PM
First, you're wrong again.  He didn't sign up.  And it's his choice whether he wants to play this or not.

And second, if Futuregsh is the first bidder, why are you listing him second?  Shouldn't it be:

Futuregsh
Jhc2010
TPiR Adam
Punchy

Mixing up the order like that is going to confuse people.

Even I have no idea what's going on here, and I'm not even playing!

wpghi5 is the last remaining player in the audience, so he should be called.  Future only pointed out that you started a show with 4 players when you needed six; he never truly signed up.  I'm taking this to PM, and when I get done, I expect to take over hosting this show.
Title: Re: Ilovesuperball's half hour MDS. PG#1: IUfB #2.
Post by: Mr. Matté on July 23, 2006, 07:33:33 PM
This isn't the first time he's included a player that didn't sign up.  Back on the old board, after complaining about how silly a show would be when it's just copied from a really stupid recap, he "signed me up" (even though I clearly stated, "I'm not in") and I somehow made it into contestant's row.  After more complaining about how I got there, it was subsequently locked.

End of story time, now back to the "show."

I'll try.  Making an official statement here, since ilovesuperball is, once again, having difficulty handling this responsibility.

wpghi, you bid first.  You should have been called to come on down here.

jhc2010, you bid second.

tpiradam, you bid third.

Punchboard91, you bid fourth.

You four are bidding on a random motorcycle.

ilovesuperball, do not argue with me here.  And try to get the show back on track after this yourself.

Wait!  Why the heck does Punchy have less than 6 hours to bid?  tpiradam only bid 3 hours ago, so why are you only giving Punchy 9 hours to bid?!

No... since you didn't specify a time anyway, I'll assume 24 hours here, and that you'll give him.  Do not buzz him until at least 12:40 PM.  Unless you live in a different time zone, where the time would be different...

Err, something.  Just don't buzz him until his time has passed, and a 9-hour time limit isn't exactly fair.  Especially if you hadn't announced it earlier.

Yeah -- Rule 6 in the "Play Along Forum -- Rules & Regs (http://www.golden-road.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=443&forum=11)" thread says that the time limit should be at least 24 hours.

Frank, not to overstep a fellow moderator's bounds, but I believe that ilovesuperball might be in a little bit over his/her head. I suggest that superball has ONE more chance without making a huge error before shutting down shop.

Furthermore, if this game ends up closing superball will be banned from hosting for three months unless s/he can prove capable of hosting a game without too many foul-ups.

I don't want to have to suggest this to Marc or John, superball, so PLEASE let Frank help you with the rest of the show!

How many index cards are in the pack?  I'm asking because it could be like the JUMBO size.

...a 1 pack of Starbursts?  Even the little "fun size" packages comes 2 a pack!  You mean a 12-pack, right?

Unless there's a store near you that sells individual Starbursts.  I'm guessing you probably mean the 12-pack though, right?

What I think he means are the ones that come in flavours like the Sour ones or the ones you get from those vending machines. There are usually about 8 in a pack, I guess.

12!  12!  Those vending-machine packs are twelve in a pack!  I already said that!  Not 8, but 12!

Oh sorry. It's 1 BAR of Starbursts!

My guess is: Index cards, Starburst, Pepsi, Peanut Butter, Flintstones, Citracal.

Not that it matters...

Isn't the Starburst only 55˘, though, while the index cards are 69˘?

I gotta go with Steve on this one.

I'd put the Starburst first, then the index cards, and I think that BuddyTom has the rest right.

YES! You have them all right! You win $2,500! You will putt from the closest line!

Jhc2010 putts from the closest line and WINS!!!

Congratulations! Those 2 cars are yours! Now we go to the Showcase Showdown! You will spin first. Pick a number between 1 and 20.

You know, JHC hasn't officially made his guess.  But I'm sure he'll take it for granted, anyways. :-P

...

(Mouth hangs open)

...what the ****ing mother****?  The contestant didn't even answer you yet!

Frank, is this grounds to lock the thread?  This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen.

I thought jhc was playing the game, here, not that anybody couldn't have guessed the outcome...

I was just giving an audience shout-out, and SteveGavazzi was correcting me. The actual player of the game never responded with the order HE  thought the products should be in, there was no reveal of the prices in order, no inspiration putt, and the player never actually (virtually) hit the golf ball and yet he wins almost $80K in cars??

I don't think I've ever seen anything quite this ludicrous in my life.

I just want to say that this is the BEST SHOW on G-R.net right now; not for its quality, but for its chaos!  Now I wish I signed up for this show instead of that other one, where I just got a lousy lobster and ticket!  :-P

Please don't lock this thread...I'll tell you why.

When the VHS version of Titanic first came out, it was such a long movie, it came in two tapes.  I immediately put in the second tape, because I only wanted to watch the boat sink, and had no interest in the fluff at the beginning of the movie.

Well, this show kinda reminds me of that....

I apologize for having busted in here like this, but...

You see, I PM'ed ilovesuperball some pointers on hosting his own show TWICE, not once, but TWICE.  Yet, I really don't think that he's taking my advice very well.

Again, I'm sorry if I had to bust in here like this, but I gave ilovesuperball enough advice to help him along here.  I hear that Frank's helping him out too.

Ummmmmmm....  so what happens next -- do I re-play the game, or give the product order and make a putt, or spin the wheel, or WHAT???  I'm terribly confused -- and it's amazing what has happened in this thread in the last 18 hours...

sideshowPA, Frank15, Alfonzo, GoldenBulldog, all of them have offered to help. While it can be amusing to watch a 50-car pileup, it's also extremely frustrating, especially when I honestly don't know if the host even realizes what's going on and why the mistakes that have been made are even wrong.
