Title: CampDaddy90's TPiR Half-Hour #1-wpghi5 wins it all!
Post by: CampDaddy90 on July 18, 2006, 10:12:50 PM
I am doing my first show, a half-hour show with 3 pricing games, followed by the two top winners going on to the showcase for more winning (we hope.)

You have 24 hours to reply to a post concerning you (your bid in contestants row, a pricing game decision, etc.) or you will be booted from the show, and a replacement contestant will be called down to play. If you cannot post for ANY reason, please notify me in advance and a replacement contestant will be called down.

Good luck to all of the contestants.

Your Honor,
CampDaddy90

Post by: CampDaddy90 on July 22, 2006, 10:08:24 PM
The bids are in:
jhc2010-799
tpiradam-1000
edmojautis-1150
brian sternal-1151

The actual retail price is: $830, so jhc2010, you are the winner!

jhc2010, this crowd will go crazy if you win that...

(door #3 opens, as Rich begins speaking) ...A NEW CORVETTE!!! (crowd goes crazy)

The Chevrolet Corvette Coupe, fun and sporty, can be yours if the price is right!

The first digit is a 5, so this is a $50,000+ automobile. That 5 is represented by 25’ worth of pocket change, and the price of the car is currently 25’ as well, but you can't buy the car right now, because we have to find out the actual price of the car. The five possible choices of the second digit are 0, 2, 3, 7, and 8. What is the second digit in the price of the car, jhc2010?

POCKET CHANGE
$5-----     25’

Post by: CampDaddy90 on July 23, 2006, 12:28:37 AM
Is it 2?

(ding) (applause)

That is correct! It is a $52,000+ car. Pick a number from 1-20 for your envelope selection. 3 contain nothing, 5 contain 5’, 3 contain 10’, 3 contain 25’, 2 contain 50’, 2 contain 75’, 1 contains $1.00, and 1 contains $2.00. After picking your envelope, tell me what you think is the third digit in the price of the car.

POCKET CHANGE
$52---    25’

(buzz)

No, it is not. Brandi, raise the price of the automobile up to 50’.

Is the third digit 0, 3, or 8?

Assuming that you're trying to base this on reality, I'd like to point out that your frequency chart is wrong; in fact, you have a value in there that doesn't even exist.  The real frequency chart is as follows:

•3 -- 0’
•3 -- 5’
•6 -- 10’
•4 -- 25’
•2 -- 50’
•1 -- 75’
•1 -- $2.00

Now, if you knew that and changed it intentionally, then I apologize for intruding; otherwise, there's the real distribution.

FYI, SteveGavazzi, my frequency chart is a frequency chart that I use for my Host Your Own episodes on which Pocket Change is played. There are several pricing games with alternate rules as well on my Host Your Own episodes. (such as a Let 'Em Roll rule where the $500 sides sre replaced with $750 sides)

brian sternal hs bid $1,225

The actual retail price is...$1,000, so wpghi5, come on up here on stage.

Wouldn't it be nice to drive off in this...
(Rich begins speaking) ...A NEW TRUCK! (Crowd goes crazy)
The Chevrolet Silverado, a tough and rugged full-size truck, can be yours if the price is right!

I also have three other prizes, Don't I Rich...
(Rich beigns speaking)...A lawn mower, a mini fridge, and a recliner!

From Briggs & Stratton, this push mower is great for mowing a small or medium-sized lawn.

This 1-cubic foot minifridge is great for storing your beverages in your office.

From Broyhill, this recliner is great for any living room.

You are going to play Line 'Em Up. There are 5 digits in the price of the truck. The first digit in the price of the truck is a 2 and the last digit is a 5. 4, 1, and 9 are the three possible choices for the second digit, that being represented by the price of the lawn mower. 7 and 0 are the possible choices of the third digit, that being represented by the price of the mini fridge. 5, 8, and 0 are the choices for the third digit, that being represented by the price of the recliner. You have two chances to get the price of the truck right. A new rule states that if you are wrong on the first try, you can either take the smaller prizes and forget about the truck, or you can trade them in for a second chance at the truck. What do you think the price of that truck is?

LINE 'EM UP
    2
    ? 4 1 9      Lawn Mower
    ? 7 0        Mini Fridge
    ? 5 8 0      Recliner
    5

Makes a difference in the price.

You know, there are ways to kick the difficulty up a notch while still giving the options.  Heck, I think many will agree I'm quite adept at just that.  But keeping the options a secret is a cheap and unfair way of making the game harder.

Course, I guess if you're playing It's Optional, you can keep the options a secret, but then, that's kinda' the point of that game.

EDIT:  OK, after reading your latest post--not sure why you didn't just include it in your previous post--I see it's all just what comes with it already.  Long as that's the case, and you make it clear, I suppose there's no harm, as long as you keep using the "basic" models for it all.
