Back to 72 remains undefeated, and this time it was for a car. Showcase finalist & top winner Ralph looked doomed, or rather I thought he’d be the first casualty. Not terrible, but he had 29 to work with on the third prize.
While $10,000 is still nice in 2021 (and probably will be by decade’s end), I don’t know if Grand Game has the thrill it once did with the original cash prize. Just my opinion. Showcase finalist and runner up James was so close to a win, but kinda messed up at the end. Still he was in great spirits, and that’s always a good thing

Great special this morning! Very strong start, and although things cooled off just a little bit, there was a rebound from that. Total bummer with the Double Overbid. While I think they were right to bid high, they went more than a tad bit too high. I figured that James should’ve bid $1 upon Ralph’s $55,000 bid, though maybe $25K or $30K would’ve been fair enough as the second.
I’m so used to showcases being outlandishly expensive that I originally thought that neither $46,000 nor $55,000 was an overbid.

That is fair enough. The thing is that you almost never see someone bid reasonably well on those expensive showcases whenever they pop up. It isn't really common that they do. OTOH, sometimes people bid higher than average, but there's something in the showcase that would result in a definitive underbid which could cost the contestant (unless the other player went over)

The $45,000 I thought was high, but no way did I think the $55,000 was, especially with the trip being first class. Apparently, there are Camaros available with MSRP of $26,000; the cheapest new Rolex I can find with Roman numerals and stainless steel is $10,000, and I am assuming the trip is also $10,000 because of the first class airfare.

The same result would have been the case: A perfect 5-0 if everyone selected a middle price. With assistance courtesy of Discord, the wins would have been ones with several dollar to spare, but all the way down to $1 to spare:
10/29/21 = $7
10/18/21 = $1
09/14/21 = $30
09/25/21 = $25
FWIW, I choose the higher dollar amount (ex. $30 over $29 or $65 over $64)
I thought it’s long since been time to ratchet the top Grand Game prize — and 1/2 Off too, for that matter — to $25,000 minimum.
And I’d also add It’s In the Bag … $32,000 maybe.
I'd probably be okay without an increase in 1/2 Off. Not just because it debuted 24 years after Grand Game, but you can still win it after making all the mistakes possible in terms of pricing. You're done in GG off of just one mistake.
For Bag? Meh. I agree with an increase, but maybe up to $20,000. $32,000 probably will not be reached more than a couple times at most over a long period of time. A $20,000 win means the game goes for totals of $1,250 / $2,500 / $5,000 / $10,000 / $20,000
