Any five-win day is pretty nice, and even better - a decent lineup order! Though LER 2nd was a little odd. No SP game? :(

It looks like it was another contestant-and-her-friends-thought-it-was-this-when-everyone-else-knew-it-wasn't in Freezy. Good wins in both car games, easy setup in Switchy and Squeezy was good to see, and nothing stupid said in Racey and well-done (expensive range!!). I would have liked to see Drew say at least something instead of letting her remove the 4 completely on her own.

SCs were...meh. At least it wasn't the worst we've seen, and there were themes.

Oh yeah...green screen during Freezy. Drew, I assume you had a hand in putting those images. The trip isn't about the food or actors from the location, so don't start messing around with that, too.

A- : for everyone getting $1000 win or lose and the messages to home after each game, I'll bump up the grade a bit. :)

Was this show worth holding for primetime?
With the 5/6 day and the 'Vette, I guess so, but it's borderline.

It was interesting to think that Stan needed to pick a total of 24 contestants instead of the usual 9 since the contestants would be replaced by a member of their military branch.

That said, even though it was uniquely unusual, I honestly didn't like the format because it somewhat took away the spirit of the show.  Never has it been a competition between groups, of sorts.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a short game start off the show, and found it especially interesting at night when it hardly ever happens.

Was it odd to anyone else, on such a special show, to have Rich build up a huge introduction to the car, and have it be a Ford Fusion?  I know the show wasn't intended to air in Primetime, but it certainly seemed out of place to me.

Last, I felt Showcase 2 was awkward, especially for this type of show.  The line about having "a car that will ruin everyone else's day because they just don't have one."  Doesn't that sorta work against the patriotic spirit of our wonderful Country?

Last, thanks to all of our Veterans who have allowed us to maintain our freedom, and to those families of Veterans who have given their lives for our Country.

I thought tonights episode was very well done. I'm assuming it was agreed that this was a primetime special after it was recorded. If that was the case, the beginning and ending were nicely edited. The majority of the contestants selected were very good. I also thought it was nice for Price to give away a $1,000 pre-paid phone card and a $1,000 shopping spree to any of the 6 contestants who were lucky enough to get up on stage.

I enjoyed tonight's show.  Yeah, it may have been originally intended as a daytime show, but anytime you have a Corvette in a showcase, it's pretty cool.

I liked the fact that the band played the intros and outros just to mix things up a bit.

Although most of the prizes throughout the show were nothing out of the ordinary, it was still enjoyable to watch.  I'm glad they decided to run it at night.  It may have exposed the show to people who do not normally watch during the normal daytime slot.

The Race Game win reveal was sorta off, too.  But yes, I agree the Corvette is always nice to see.

The Bowflex was never even described.  The prize copy just said "Stay in shape -- at home!"  And never mentioned what the prize was.

Small item I noticed:  The credits did not include Jeff Thisted as Production Coordinator, and listed Scott Robinson as the Production Coordinator.  When this show was taped, Jeff was most definitely still with the show and Scott Robinson was still a Production Assistant, I believe.

I really wouldn't be surprised if that "37 years" montage narrated by Rich was edited in post-production.

I thought it was interesting for those Marines to be in front of door #2, move so Drew could walk through, and walk with him to the handoff.

I found it awkward that Drew threw to Rich for the plug about the 1,000-minute phone card that each winning contestant would receive, after the first item up for bids had been described.

It was awesome to see something other than a car or cash game first, I hope that whomever slots the games nowadays will soon realize how boring it will get for one of those two games to lead off every single show.

I found it to be rather un-patriotic that a Mini Cooper was offered in Let 'em Roll as well as some Honda motorbikes in Switch?.

Also, was Brandi ever tasked with the croupier in Let 'em Roll before this show?  It seems that she got confused as to which blocks had to be given back to be rolled again after the first roll.

The corny introduction to the trip to Belgium was just beyond unnecessary, it was completely pointless, in my opinion.  Words were beyond me when Rich introduced the home gym with "Stay fit...at home!" instead of saying "It's a new home gym!" and that bit about YouTube for the camera would have worked better in a well-written showcase rather than the bidding rounds.

I thought it was very nice for the show to show veterans stationed overseas to say hi to their families at home, like the 2002 primetime specials.

Seeing Card Game was a nice change of pace after seeing all the Money Games, Cover Ups, and Dice Games lately.  Drew should really work on the reveal and build suspense instead of showing the ARP card to the contestant and almost mumbling it to the home audience.

Well, I don't think someone has ever taken Squeeze Play into his or her own hands before, but it resulted in a win!

Showcase #1 was decent, I only have qualms about the staging of the furniture and the prize recap at the end, but showcase #2 was just bad, sure it was exciting for a Corvette to be at the end, but the horrible writing just killed the enjoyment out if it for me.  Especially with that interaction between Drew and Rich in between the prizes.

Aside all those things I didn't like, I found this show to be quite enjoyable, very much more enjoyable compared to the show that aired this morning.

Also, evidently they made a new daytime TPIR promo, featuring Taylor's Lucky $even win, a $25,000 win on the Wheel, and, I was surprised at this, they kept Marie's Plinko playing from all the way back on October 16, 2007 in there.

Overall I thought this was a really good show.  I think it was just worthy enough for primetime.  To me it felt like something bigger than a regular daytime show.  I guess it could've gone either way.

I liked the idea of one member of the branch just on stage being the next call down and the friendly competition between the branches.  I know it goes against the tradition of the show, but in this special case it was fine to me.

It was also a nice touch to give them the phone card and gift certificate as bonus prizes.

I was expecting to see a Big 3 game first, but it was a refreshing change to see a quick game first.  Also a shock to not see Plinko.

The intro for the Belgium trip was just unneeded.  Things like that was what I was afraid they would use the green screen for, and it comes up on this show of all times.  Very awkward intro for the home gym too and also when Race Game was won.

The showcases could have been better theme and writing wise.   Both cars just seemed forced in, and the build up to the Corvette was pretty unsettling.  They could have made the Showcase about patriotism or American prizes and have the Corvette's build up be something like "and finally, what is more patriotric than... a new Corvette!!!"

I agree, John. 24 contestants doesn't sit well with me either... if it had been all Navy winners, for instance, then no more of any of the other branches would have been called down! However, the $1,000 bonuses were a nice reward for those in uniform, as well as the small clips of those overseas.

Nice lineup tonight, especially Switch? being played first.

Why did Drew say "You only have 37 seconds left!" in Race Game tonight? That made no sense- that's plenty of time.

goldenroadfanatic, I agree with you a lot tonight:

Letting the contestant remove the Squeeze Play digit (2) was a nice touch.

I also did not care for the showcase descripitions- odd wording in #1 (how about describing the PS3/360/Wii as "video game package". #2, I felt, for prize 2, did not make sense. However, I loved seeing the Corvette. First, when I saw our runnr-up I thought he would have a  :gotc: , then, when I saw his bid, I thought, "WOW, waaay over!" Of course, he winds up garfing. Ah, the ironies of life...

Grade: B+. For an A, I would have like to seen a pricing game for a luxury car.

Worthy of primetime? Yes, because our armed forces are so important. They deserve this spotlight. In addition, the pricey showcases helped me form this judgement.

Other than the fact that the wording of Showcase #2 was a bit awkward, I found tonight's show really good.  It seemed to fit perfectly at night, and I liked the opening montage.

Tonight's show proves that you don't have to start with a car or cash game to have an exciting show.  They started with a nice quick game (Switch?), and that got the ball rolling, which kept the spirit up through the whole show.  Although I was a bit bummed not seeing Golden Road or Triple Play to open the show.

I was hoping for Hole in One tonight.  Instead, we saw Let 'em Roll, which was a bit strange.  Brandi had a bit of a senior moment when she tried to give the contestant only two blocks to roll instead of three, which was pretty funny.  Awesome win.

That was a really awkward introduction of the home gym.  If they're going to add taglines before the prize description, Rich needs to at least say the name of the prize.

I don't know who Robin was listening to, but there was no way that Belgium trip was $4K.  Darn shame she stopped there, too.  If only she would've listened with the audience and gone with $7K, we would've had a perfect show.

I usually don't like seeing Card Game, but thank goodness it wasn't Money Game or Cover Up!  LOL @ Samuel picking up Brandi.

That was a great exacta in Race Game!  Although the jukebox reveal was a bit weird.

Nice of Drew to let the contestant take out the fake number in Squeeze Play.  I'm surprised he didn't stop them.

Hurray for the showcases having a Corvette!  Where were all the other luxury cars though? :-?

Overall, great show!

I caught the show late, but Drew undersold the reveals to all the second half games. Kind of a bummer that this primetime airing may be a lot of people's rare exposure to Drew doing Price, and for him to phone it in here...lame. The atmosphere was nice, but Drew's lack of trying really showed.

Samuel is the envy of every red blooded American Male's dream by lifting the beautiful Brandi Sherwood in his arms, he's my contestant of the 1st quarter (in my estimation, the 1st quarter runs from September to November) out of 4 quarters of the Price Is Right's season. Nice win too in the Card Game. This was a first-rate show.

I thought it was neat in the intro how Drew came out to the band playing, instead of the usual Price theme. Having the band the whole show was cool really. Was awkward with the reveal for the $1,000 things though, I will admit.

2nd showcase was kinda awkward too, and repetitive.

I'm looking at it and went frame by frame, it could be a new wall, but that thing is pretty big. It could be, or it could be used just for that opening as Drew is in a rowboat. At least we know check game will or has been won.

Back to the show, I liked it except I missed the first half. The only flaw with the contestant choices, if one side kept winning, it would ruin the show and have only navy or army or anyother branch only come on down.

The promo is located here (http://www.golden-road.net/index.php?topic=9271.msg133535#new), with a link to view it in high quality.  And the thing behind it is one of the new prize backdrops.

I believe this is the first time in history that the TPIR host's entrance has not been accompanied by the main theme.

Overall, a very good show, and much more tolerable than daytime shows of late.

I was disappointed in several ways with this show.  I expected much better for what they made into a primetime show.

That being said though, there were a couple of nice things, even historical.  This was the first time a first-run primetime episode of The Price Is Right was still divided into its usual ten segments.  Also, it's the first time since the series of military specials back in 2002 where the daytime consolation prize cue was used.

Because this was originally a daytime show, I was really hoping the opening wouldn't have been changed at all, making it the first time since 1986 a primetime Price Is Right had the same opening as the daytime Price Is Right; but unfortunately, my hopes were too high.  It was quite obvious the clip montage tacked onto the opening was added just for the primetime affair, which I don't understand why because it had nothing to do with the episode at all until the end where Rich segued it to the military audience.

The opening was especially a downer because the theme was not used anywhere during it.  That really took a lot of excitement out of the opening.

Yay for no car or cash game starting off the show!  I was very happy to see Switch?!.  It's too bad that's probably the last time we've seen that happen until purple wheel week.

With the way the contestant selection worked, I'm glad this didn't air as a regular daytime episode.  It did not feel like Price Is Right at all for the military groups to be in competition with each other like that.  Whoever's idea that was... it was a bad one.  Never make a competition out of the contestant selection again.

Also, I felt tacking the rankings of each person onto their calldown was a bit too much.  It made them unnecessarily long.

Further, it was nice to have the band, but was it really necessary for them to play into every commercial?  The theme was hardly heard in this show!

The Belgium trip in Freeze Frame had the dumbest plug for a trip I've ever seen.

Speaking of Freeze Frame, the split screen shot does not work in widescreen.  Something really needs to be fixed there.

"Stay in shape at home!" does not answer the question, "What's the next item up for bids?"

After Drew sent Samuel over to the truck he won in Card Game, why did he bother coming over to just toss the gift card envelope at him?  That didn't look very good at all.  He would have been better of having not tried to pass him the envelope that late in the game.

Drew was really off at the end of Race Game, which lead to a very awkward pause and delay before the theme kicked in.  There's really no reason why that should have happened.

The first Showcase looked promising at the start but quickly turned sour, and the second Showcase absolutely sucked yet again.  It's really too bad because I thought that with the military crowd and all the other effort that had been put into the various areas of the show, we might have had two decent Showcases.  Sad that it wasn't that way.

I saw regular people in the audience for the taping, but I'm guessing that they were told ahead of time that they have no chance to be called.  Does anybody know if the band was eligible?

Most of the One-Bids had "round" numbers, almost as if they were asking for someone to hit it on the head.

I was surprised at how difficult the grocery products were in LER.  I guess after Drew's last comment, Fingers decided to make it a bit harder to earn the three rolls.

I laughed when Brandi took out the two cubes after putting them in; she could have just put in one more.

What was up with the Belgium introduction?  Chocolate, and Jean-Claude Van Damme?

That range in Race Game was really pricey.  I thought the home theater system was the most expensive.

The contestants today were really good, and I was glad to see that each branch was properly represented.

The first showcase was normal!  It had a semi-theme! Looks to me like we are going to get a mixed bag from now on, with one Showcase and one Drewcase.

If you don't like to see negative comments about Drew's hosting, stop here.

He could privately root for the Marines, but the fact that he was outwardly saying that was unprofessional, in my opinion.

I assume that AAFES.com payed lots of money to be on the show, and the fact that Drew not only bungles the name in the beginning but he forgets to give the card to a couple of contestants is really unacceptable.  And the fact that he just tosses it into the car after he forgets.

He's continuing to push the contestants to the prizes after they win; it seems to work better when the contestants do it themselves, like Sgt Cruz.

Drew didn't make it clear to SrA Callahan that had multiple chances in Race Game; nor did he demonstrate the jukebox and show him the way to pull the handle.

The one really positive thing Drew did was having this show in the first place.  It really was nice, but I thought it could have been a regular daytime show, unless you were going to up the prizes a bit more.  I know that this was to boost the ratings, but I would have rather seen them prepare an actual primetime show than to shove this one into the 9 PM slot.

And didn't the band leader look miserable being there?

I thought was a great addition to add the $1,000 gift certificate.  Something special to add to this special TPIR.  Although, I wish the plug for this was between Drew’s entrance and his throw to the first IUFB.

Switch?: I can’t believe Drew still tells the models to be careful when switching.  Maybe if one of us was to play Switch?, we should tell Drew not to say that.

Pre-IUFB #3:  Drew said since an Army member was on stage, so an Army member would come on down.  I know they guaranteed a member of each military branch would be able to come on down, but it just doesn’t seem right to replace an Army with an Army.  What if an Army was always on stage?   I believe there are 5 branches, and if Army always one, one branch wouldn’t be in Contestant’s Row.

IUFB #4:  Did Rich say “Stay in shape at home” (i.e. not even include the name of the IUFB in the introduction)?

Card Game: Drew made another not-so-good reveal.  Rather than trying to show anyone (other than him) the card, Drew should just read the ARP.  I did like it when Chad lifted up Brandi.

Squeeze Play:  I also said $9298.  Strange seeing the contestant remove the number instead of Drew.

Showcases: This host/announcer interaction has to stop.  Something that annoyed me more was when Rich asked Drew a question, Drew nodded, and Rich kept asking the question, or at least emphasizing it.

SC1:  My Bid: $25,315 / Diff: $10,929
SC2:  My Bid: $52,555 / Diff: $21,934

No more than Barker having a soft spot for naval aviators. Drew is a former marine, afterall.

The regulars in the audience were not regulars, per se. They allowed Disabled Veterans & servicemembers' family in the studio; they were probably not eligible, though.

Not really - he looked like a Marine doing his job.

Not unless it's happened very recently -- last Friday's episode was taped last Monday.

Oh, and I agree with Nick -- that plug for the trip to Belgium was totally bizarre.  They really shouldn't try to make jokes out of those -- it just comes off as weird.

The little clip of big wins (so far) this season may have looked like an obvious edit for primetime, but still a neat touch.

Rich's plug for the phone card after the 1st IUFB did look awkward. They should've let him do that before the showcase reveal.

I didn't notice the models pulling a rowboat with Drew in it in the new promo. Just another wild entrance. Whoopee-doo.

Choosing 24 instead of 9???!!!! :-o :-o :-o Outrageous and Unfair for those not picked.

Now on to more positive things:

Switch?: No car or cash game first!!! That's a relief.  :-) I would've switched, too. Jacob and I thought alike.  :-D Good job.

Roll: WHAT??!!!  :-o :-o :-o Not expecting this one. Despite that, Great win for Deborah!!!!!

Freeze: Why should we give a hoot if Jean-Claude Van Damme comes from Belgium?  8-) $7362 was my choice. Too bad.

Card: Drew's reveal was kinda off but Brandon chose to stop at the right time and made me a little envious for doing something only I've been having daydreams about with my girl Brandi.  :-D :-D :-D :-D Good win.

Race: WHOA!!!! PERFECTO at its best!!!! Excellent!!!! :-D

Squeeze: Seeing Ashley pull the wrong number out was a nice touch and it brought her luck, too. Very good.  :-)

Showcases: While neither showcase didn't give us any brand of goofy humor (Thank God), The presentations of the prizes did seem a bit convoluted. Despite that, We got fairly decent and exciting showcases to boot. I bidded $71K on the Corvette showcase and around $28K on the Fusion showcase.

Since this was originally suppose to be a daytime show, I have to gite my daytime points.

A 4.25-star show.

Looks like they had a great show last night! :-D  I didn't get to see it because I had to work, and I set up the VCR to record it, but I set it up for 8:00-9:00 p.m. instead of 9:00-10:00 p.m. (whoops!). :headbang:

That being said though, there were a couple of nice things, even historical.  This was the first time a first-run primetime episode of The Price Is Right was still divided into its usual ten segments.  Also, it's the first time since the series of military specials back in 2002 where the daytime consolation prize cue was used.
Wait...did you just say you were happy to see the show had more commercial breaks than it usually does in primetime?

Right you are.  TPIR's structure works best with a commercial break after every pricing game, after the Showcase Showdowns, and between the Showcase.  I don't like it when they lump pricing games into the same segment.  It makes the act too long, plus leads to longer individual commercial breaks; and that's no fun.  The only place of exception I like to see is no break between the last pricing game before a Showcase Showdown and the Showcase Showdown, but only because when they did this on the '86 specials, the transition was always done so neatly; and Bart would never recapture that as brilliantly as Marc Breslow did.

And I can't believe I neglected to mention the most historic event of last night's show.  It was the first time ever any primetime episode of The Price Is Right featured a ticket plug.

That's right- the ticket plug! Neat indeed for a primetime show. I have to add something to the plug discussion. I though it was neat that a phone number plug was given for ticket information, rather than the typical, "Go on CBS.com..." plug.

Well, keep in mind that this was intended to be aired in daytime.  That being said, though, it doesn't really surprise me that they didn't edit it out considering the trouble they've been having in trying to fill audiences as of late.

I though it was neat that a phone number plug was given for ticket information, rather than the typical, "Go on CBS.com..." plug.

They starting doing that at some point last season.  Presently, it's in the late Wednesday tapings they do it in.

I forgot that this show was originally to be aired Veteran's Day. I guess I jumped the gun a wee bit early! I was too excited...

I'm kind of surprised that no one here has pointed it out, but apparently there are some upset people over at the cbs.com Price forum board. They are accusing CBS and Price of forgetting the US Coast Guard. Is anyone able to shed some light as to why this might have happened?

Because their little stunt of all-inclusive in One Bids would not have worked if they had the fifth branch?  Because it would have required Stan to interview another potential six contestants?  I have no idea.  I didn't even notice the Coast Guard wasn't involved.

I didn't even notice the Coast Guard wasn't involved.

A lot of people don't even know the Coast Guard is considered the part of the "Armed Services".

As I pointed out over at the CBS forum, I think the real reason the Coast Guard was not involved was because the audience was coordinated through the Department of Defense's "Entertainment Media Division". CG is not part of the DoD, they're a part of DHS (Department of Homeland Security).

I think I heard Rich say "Morning, Drew" at the beginning of the show. Kind of funny since the show ended up airing at night.

If they knew the next contestant was coming from the Army, then why was the camera pointed at the Marines when Rich called the name?

I liked that the colored strips around the doors were only changing between red, white and blue for this episode.

But overall, this is why I've scaled back on watching the show. I watched last Friday's show to see if anything had improved and tonight's show because it was special enough to air at night, but the thing that gets to me is that I can see the classic Price is Right buried in there. For every little thing that I see that reminds me of what makes the show special, there's something like the introduction of the home gym or the beginning of the Belgium description that drive home the fact that somebody there who's calling the shots, whether it's Drew or Syd or whoever, doesn't understand what does and doesn't work on this show, and they're trying to do all of these things. I'm sure that they think that they're improving the show with these changes, but so many of them just come off as random and confusing. Nobody at home truly thought that the first showcase was going to end with just the dining room and the video games. Why call so much attention to it? By doing so, they've simultaneously insulted themselves for looking like they forgot to end the showcase with something "good" and insulted the intelligence of the viewers for supposedly not realizing that there would be another prize in the showcase.

I feel the frustration of the people who might be considered to have a constantly negative opinion of the show. I can see what isn't working, and I believe that if they got rid of those things that aren't working, then the show would return to being the show that I used to love escaping to. But it's just no fun to watch the show even once a week and seeing the wasted potential.

I hate being such a downer. To end on a positive note, I'll say that I liked that they were saluting the military and I can even see what they were trying to go for by always having a person from each of the four branches in Contestants Row. Although the branch that wins the show is the branch that wins the showcase, not the branch that gets the most contestants onstage.  Having the band there was great, and I liked that the band played the appropriate music depending on which branch had a contestant onstage. I don't know that this felt like a nighttime episode, since it wasn't intended to be one, but overall, it did feel like a very special daytime episode.

Drew was really off at the end of Race Game, which lead to a very awkward pause and delay before the theme kicked in.  There's really no reason why that should have happened.

You can't blame Drew for that. The jukebox and the prices list were set up way too close to each other, leading to one of the most awkward reveals I've ever seen in Race Game.

One thing you can blame Drew for, however, was that Card Game reveal. That was a unique way, but it just did not work.

Other than that, I thought Drew did an excellent job and that this was one of the best shows this season.

You honesty think that just because Drew may not be the producer, he shouldn't have to move the stand out of the way when he's standing right there?  You really think the job should be placed on somebody else just because they carry a certain title?

Besides, Drew may not be the producer, but we have seen how in his place he's been affecting the show when he really shouldn't have the rights.

Seriously, Nick? You're just stretching things now to fit your narrow point of view.

The stand was placed there by the stage hands. He may or may not know if its a mistake, or a change in direction, and may be reluctant to move the stand because of that. So, you work around it.

I would hope that with the length of time Drew's been hosting the show now, he would know where the props need to be placed in Race Game, and that the path of the contestant must be clear of the price tags stand.  He should have no hesitation about moving it when it's clearly in the way as it was.

Sort of reminds me of the time in which the Double Prices prop was in the middle of the stage and the prize was behind door number 2. They worked around that.

Also, I believe Carlos has a clip of a 1994 playing of Race Game in which the prop was not in place at first, but was moved into position during the description of the prizes.

You never cease to amaze....  It isn't Drew's job to stage the production.  If he was that concerned, he should have asked to stop tape and have it fixed.  It might have been blocked that way on purpose by the director.  I really think you like to find everything you hate about TPiR, and then turn it in such a way that it is Drew's fault.  Next, it'll be Drew's fault that the beeps on the wheel didn't work...

It might have been blocked that way on purpose by the director.

I highly doubt that.  The stand is not normally in that position during the gameplay.

I really think you like to find everything you hate about TPiR, and then turn it in such a way that it is Drew's fault.

You're absolutely wrong, I would never pass blame on Drew for something I didn't think was his fault.

And if he's committing some great horrible deed by moving the stand, what are they going to do?  Fire him?  As much as I'd like, they wouldn't.  I don't even think they could yell at him about it because he'd just put up a fuss like the number of other things he's put up a fuss about (i.e. the purple wheel).

This is where I put out the question to anybody who's ever attended a taping where Race Game was played.  That stand always moves during the prize descriptions.  Who moves it:  the host or somebody else?  Even if it is somebody besides the host, that still doesn't change what I'm saying that Drew should have moved the stand out of the way since it was in the way.  After all, Drew loves to do anything he can so that a contestant can win, right?

You know, I think we really ought to be concerned with the fact that Coast Guard members & veterans are ripping the show to shreds right now on the CBS.com message boards, and their own CG-related boards... and not because of "bad" showcases or prop staging.

Other than the obvious reasons (CG not part of DoD, wouldn't fit in with the contestant selection format), was there any reason they decided against including the Coast Guard? Anybody with connections know the logic behind this? Did they just forget about the Coast Guard? Was it because it was coordinated with DoD? Did the powers that be just plain forget about this 5th branch of the Armed Services?

I mean, when they did the original "The Price is Right Salutes..." specials back in 2002, they did do a Coast Guard episode.

I just wanted to add something to what The Square had mentioned in passing...

Having the band there was great, and I liked that the band played the appropriate music depending on which branch had a contestant onstage.

He's referring to the tunes played by the band going into commercial break. After the pricing games, the band played the official song representing the contestant that appeared on-stage. The official names of those tunes, btw, are "The Army Goes Rolling Along," "Anchors Aweigh," "Marines' Hymn," and "The U.S. Air Force"

Likewise, going out of the Showcase showdown, they played the song of the showcase showdown winner.

Coming out of the showcases, I believe they played "The Army Goes Rolling Along," likely because they had only played it once during the show.

Actually, I took look at a few Race Game clips quickly, and it doesn't look like the stand is moved at any point, but the stand was clearly not placed as close to the jukebox as it was in this episode.  Again, all I am simply trying to say it that since the stand was in the way, Drew should have moved it.

I finally watched this last night on the ol' Tivo. I have to say this was a fantastic episode. I loved the energy, the treatment and the troops. The segments with the troops overseas getting to say hi to family back home was a nice touch. My wife was even surprised to see a guy from her home town of Anniston, Ala.

It was, I think, the best episode of Price in ages.

Also, I felt tacking the rankings of each person onto their calldown was a bit too much.  It made them unnecessarily long.

Since no one has said anything about this, I feel like I should.

People in the military earn those rankings and calling "Capt. Joe Smith" instead of "Joe Smith" is a well deserved honor.  You don't call someone you don't know personally that has earned a doctor's degree anything other then "Dr." do you?  All of those military personal earned those titles and deserved to be called those titles.

You do if you're Rich Fields and you're reading their name off of your contestant list.

Not saying that they haven't earned the title or anything, and not even saying it wasn't appropriate for this special episode -- but really, given the situation we're discussing, this is sort of a flimsy comparison.

You know, upon rewatching this show today, I realized that even though there are problems now, things were worse earlier in the season.

Drew here was awkward and mumbling throughout much of the show, the directing by Eskander was noticeably worse than DiPirro (obviously), we had 3 quickies, and a car game 4th. This show was decent, but watching it makes me realize how much better things are now.

You know, I never, ever thought I'd say this, but the green screen "trip skins" look infinitely better than the video screens.  They put a serious kink in the directing, but at least they provide that big, imposing backdrop that was always so impressive with the actual skins.

It was very refreshing to see Let 'em Roll and Card Game actually get played.

Oh...and they finally aired the original version of the opening!  Yay!

You know, I never, ever thought I'd say this, but the green screen "trip skins" look infinitely better than the video screens.  They put a serious kink in the directing, but at least they provide that big, imposing backdrop that was always so impressive with the actual skins.

Steve, you're right that from a viewer's perspective, they look better. But, the video screens are ultimately more helpful in pricing the trips than the green screens because the contestant can see what they are playing for, and they can see images of the hotel and all that.

It would be nice if they had left in the shout outs from the roops overseas at the end of each act. It was a good idea to have this show coincide with the 4th of July.

One reason why I think they left those out is because either the troops returned to the States or were captured by the enemy, killed in battle, etc., and out of respect for their families, they weren't aired.

Either that or the full episode was too long for daytime.
