Title: Question
Post by: nadroj15 on June 03, 2006, 10:24:47 PM
I don't know if this has been asked before, but I would like to see if any one else shared my opinion: out of all of the retired games, which one deserves the most to be brought back?

Tough choice. I would have to say Super Saver, although Bump and Superball are close behind.

Interesting enough, I like the way this question was asked.  And I agree with Jordan on this, I think Super Saver is the retired game that most deserves to be brought back.  The reason that it was retired was absolutely stupid because of some bitter contestant who lost the game.  So, I would say Super Saver with Give or Keep being a close second.

Another candidate would be Walk of Fame.

Yeah, but they wouldn't bring it back though. It would take too long to play.

I agree with Super Saver deserving to be brought back the most; I honestly can't see why S&P agreed with the griping player. It really wasn't a confusing game, and if anyone thinks that any game has a guaranteed win, they've got another thing coming to them.

I don't know if Bump! deserves coming out of retirement as much, but it would be nice to have as an alternative to Switch? and as it's a quickie, it might even replace a couple playings of Double Prices.

I do think it would be nice to bring Superball back. What about Add 'em Up or Split Decision?

I wouldn't mind seeing Superball come out of retirement. Super Saver would fall in close second. They both had cool set-ups and the game plays were awesome.

Super Saver definitely deserves to be brought back, because it was not around for a terribly long time and was a fun game with a great look that and was easy to understand.  Bump deserves to also because it could easily be changed to having the contestant or Bob push the trains if they didn't want the models to do it, plus of course it is a fun and easy to understand quick game.

Superball deserves to return. Super Saver was a fun game and as mentioned by others...the way it was retired was utterly ridiculous.

Also, Give or Keep, Bump, Walk of Fame, and Hurdles needs to be back.

Really?  Could you explain?  Retiring Superball was a mistake obviously.  I'm sure Mark Goodson rolled in his grave after that decision.

Since the show only uses 3 models at a time now, either:

A) One beauty models both prizes for Bump, and you can have the other two at the turntable.

B) Two beauties model one prize each for Bump, and either the contestant or Bob bumps the busses.

Really?  Could you explain?

From the FAQ: In reality, its retirement came about as the result of a playing in which Bob inadvertently explained the rules incorrectly. He forgot to say that the game could still be won if the marked-up product was picked – an omission that the contestant later claimed caused her to lose after she picked it. The staff, after consultation with Standards & Practices, decided to award her the prize, and Bob decided that if it was that easy for a costly mistake to occur, they were better off just getting rid of the game.

Thanks for answering my question.  My opinion is either Super Saver, Superball, or Hurdles.  8-)

Since we're talking about which games deserve to be brought back...

As I've said before, Super Saver's rules make the game too difficult with the grocery companies that sponsor the show today. If the Garlique is marked $8.79, how is the contestant supposed to know if it's 20 cents too expensive or 20 cents too cheap? With such high prices and such small discounts, it becomes a game of random guessing.

Super Ball!! was too hard if you'd never played skeeball before. Only one practice ball and then you have to successfully sink the rest? Even after the three "real" balls, that's really not enough to give the contestant a fell for how to sink the super ball. In my opinion, the only reason Hole in One is still around is because successful pricing gets you so close to the hole, physical skill becomes a non-issue.

Walk of Fame was a bit dry, but it was a good pricing game. I'd pick that. Or Hurdles. Actually, I'd pick Hurdles.

Doesn't stop Roger from continually using a virtually impossible Grocery Game setup nowadays (http://www.angelfire.com/la3/goldenroad15/misc/smile4.txt)

Yeah, Frank, Remember last Wednesday's Grocery Game when Patsy hit it square on the nose with $20.97 on the first product?  I screamed at the TV I was in such shock.

I think MSTie is right on about Superball and Super Saver.  They were great games--I love them dearly--but the price differences in SuperSaver were impossibly miniscule and Superball was pure physical skill after the SP portion.

Still, the current run of pricing games has its share of impossible-to-win-or-explain games and some of those games are quite lame when compared to Superball and Super Saver.

Though I think it *should* be brought back, Hurdles probably doesn't *deserve* it only because it's just a GP spin on Cliff Hangers, and I guess Hurdles was a mechanical nightmare, anyhow.

The game that I think most deserves to come back would probably be $uper $aver. Out of all the retired games, its reason for retirement was probably the stupidest. Close behind would be Hurdles.

To UltraPrice, I was referring to Super Saver being retired as utterly ridiculous.

Note to Moderators: I accidentally sent a report. I pressed "report" on Ultraprice's message and I thought it was to quote. My apologies and just ignore it.
