I don’t get to watch every day so I’m sure I’ve missed this…but when did they start playing Dig We Must after a $10k slot hit?

This started last season , to be exact , 10/5/22 was the 1st aired show with Dig being played when the center slot is hit during Plinko.

Great show today. Drew and the audience seemed especially spirited.

Cover Up: What on earth was Julie thinking putting a 1 for the second number? The only cars that cheap are the Mirage and Versa. An Impreza is not a cheap car. The audience knew and Drew knew it was all over at that point. I loved the "To Be or Not To Be" theme on the board today.

Danger Price: Can’t play it any better than that. Those photo booths come in so many configurations the sussing out the prices can get nasty. Wasn’t expecting this one to only be $1400 but it still felt like the correct final choice.

Plinko: If you’re only going to get 3 chips, a $20k haul is not a bad way for things to go! I don’t get to watch every day so I’m sure I’ve missed this…but when did they start playing Dig We Must after a $10k slot hit? I can’t say I love it since it seems to slow down the pace of the game.

Side by Side: Is it just me or have we been seeing this game a lot recently? That grill set was very obviously not $9000+…very easy win.

That’s Too Much: That car was high $20ks, not low $30ks. Knew this was going to be a loss as soon as I saw the game (I own a bias: I strongly dislike TTM and have since the Barker days…so its hard for me to get enthused about it)

Bullseye: I thought the audience was going to riot to get Diego to pick the tuna…and by golly got him the win.

Showcases: Julie’s was deceptively expensive and Diego’s was deceptively cheap. Julie got so lucky.

Out In Left Field / Re: Deal Or No Deal Island
« Last post by sayingsorry on April 23, 2024, 09:48:33 AM »
Is anyone else still watching? I am enjoying the show for what it is, I know the challenges are not crazy hard but I like the strategizing that is involved. Last nights game of DOND was crazy with the drama and if you trust your case to take you that far why did he take the deal at the end and go home?! I am personally happy Rob is still alive
95
I liked tonight’s main game.   Everybody winning over $10,000 a piece!   All three contestants did very well tonight and I was glad player 3 got two of the triple tossups and the speed up to finish with something very sweet.

I’ve noticed PHRASE has been taking a break lately from the category menu.   The champ had PLACE/ THING/ EVENT and it’s been a while since we’ve had that category menu.

We’ve had three past consecutive $50,000 misses in Bonus Land.   Jeff you were smart to pick smart letters and I had that one too!   Congrats on your $50,000 hit!

By sheer happenstance I learned Susan is a relative of a friend of mine. She's getting the cash equivalent of the Harley because they couldn't transport it.

Until proven otherwise I'm assuming any vehicle won from an out-of-state contestant is more likely than not to be a cash prize.

Price is Right Recaps! / Re: TPiR Recap - 4/22/2024 (Earth Day Special)
« Last post by gamesurf on April 23, 2024, 12:32:58 AM »
I had met vhs at the first Haven taping and we shared an Uber from the airport. He let me know he was planning on heading back and I realized I would have a car and be relatively be free that day, so I made the drive to LA to support. Alex, a Wheel alumni that we met at Haven, also joined us.

Our interview group was really solid. We did practice auditions in line to warm up, shooting off random follow-up questions. I was feeling really good about our group's chances, especially John. I'm of the belief they don't care what you say in the interview nearly as much as they care how you say it, and he was clear, direct, didn't say "um", and immediately had witty responses and ways to phrase things. I thought there was a good chance... and sure enough, first name called!

Between Acts 2 and 3

Drew really took a shine to vhs during the break. I have never seen him spend that much time with a single contestant during a break before.

During Most Expensive, Drew made comments about Andora fashion that were cut. During the break he went on a riff from Andora > Endora from Bewitched > Agnes Moorehead > Orson Welles theater troupe just like described. Drew asked George what if he remembered the name of his troupe, and vhs piped up from the row "Mercury Theater"... and Drew was amazed that somebody would know that and just had to know more. I have never heard Drew say anything like "I'm gonna talk to John for this segment, if that's all right" before.

Drew: "John, what do you do for a living?"
VHS: "I do cybersecurity. I keep the bad guys out."
Drew: "I see. And uh, what is your mother's maiden name?"
laughs

Drew goes into more details of VHS' job and employer. VHS responds that anybody wants to get into your browsing history badly enough, they can, but you can take steps to make it not worth their while. Drew jokingly mimes smoking a cigarette and asks which companies are the weakest. VHS responds that he's seen some horror stories. Drew says that he's friends with some famous computer people, including Steve Wozniak, that have confirmed basically the same thing, and makes jokes about how his browsing history is squeaky clean.

George: "Well, I just want to state now for the record that I share my phone with a lot of people, so..."
Drew: "It's AI, your honor, that could be anyone in those photos!"

They continued on this vein for a few more minutes, but those are the highlights. Turns out VHS knowing that random bit of Mercury Theater trivia got Drew really warmed up for the next segment!

Act 3

The third act starts. VHS is bidder #2. He hasn't had the best positioning due to who's won the IUFBs. I'm starting to get a little worried. Communicating a number from the audience to Contestant's Row is like sending a carrier pigeon across no-mans-land during WWI.

Anything and everything could go wrong, especially when you're not even sure what the other contestants have bid! I had to crane my head veeeery far across George's podium see the other contestants bids program monitor feed just offstage behind the green door, and I'm sure it was very obvious to the staff what I was doing. When the Pilates machine was revealed, I signaled $700-- a five on my left hand, two on my right--to Contestant's row, and I thought I saw vhs mouth it back. But then Jesse, the audience warmup coach, noticed that we weren't helping the first contestant and motioned for us to help, so I yelled "$2000!" just for the sake of having said something. VHS must not have seen my five and have assumed that was what I wanted him to bid, so he bid $2000. I was feeling pretty bad...

until Drew cracked the envelope and said "Two thousand..."

We had seen Pocket Change getting loaded in from where we were in the audience, so we started getting very excited!

Drew's very warmed up for this segment thanks to the break. He jokes that "I've been talking with John during the break. He does cybersecurity, and he went to Benjamin Franklin Middle School." He gets a laugh. Adam comes in on the god mic and says "Hold, please." Drew rolls his eyes a bit and starts asking, "Is it because I said Benjamin Franklin Middle School? It's probably an actual school someplace." During the stopdown George gives vhs some sass about wanting to hear the options described one more time.

George and vhs got tons of time to get to know vhs, and sass him, and have fun with him. He kept giving Drew more material to work with and Drew kept going back for more. I wish some recording of it had survived, because I've been to 13 tapings and I still haven't seen them bond with any contestant as they did with vhs. Drew's mood spilled over to James.

I'm pretty sure Drew wouldn't make a joke about James not liking Americans unless there was a really great spirit in the room. I was worried that joke would be cut. Drew made a similar joke in Double Prices ("A bunch of old guys watching just heard 'Vietnam' and spit out their cereal") and it was pretty safe to say that wasn't going to make air. But when James came back by pulling the $2.75 card and cracked everybody up, I'm glad the editors decided that moment was too good to pass up.

I tried to signal to vhs to pick the edges, especially the right edge near the top, expecting that if they hid the $2.00 card they would hide it the place farthest from the contestant and least likely to be picked. Turns out those were nickels and dimes. The top left was a quarter. vhs freelanced his last pick from the middle, and that was what won it for him!

The wheel curse continues, but I'm sure winning a car sooths the pain somewhat. We had dinner at Din Tai Fung after, and then I had to get back in my car and hit the road to be at work the next morning.

Thanks so much for letting me be a small part of that experience! Congrats again! At this rate the board will be more spinning stars than not!
