Title: Field of 64 Pricing Games - Week 2
Post by: sideshowPA on September 24, 2006, 06:45:21 PM
For those of you keeping score at home, there was an error in the original thread for this week.  We seem to be back to normal now...

Welcome back to the Field of 64 Pricing Games. This week, we have two new matchups from the Barker Bracket. Newbies are welcome to join the discussions.

Now, onto the matchups:

In the first game this week, we have

#5 GRAND GAME

vs

#12 FREEZE FRAME

And in the second game, we have

#4 HIT ME

vs

#13 DICE GAME

To vote on the games, please do the following...

1. Give a sentence or two comparing the two games. Which game do you prefer and why?

2. Then, give a score to the match-up using my 11-point must system. It works like this: give a final score to the "game", but the score must add up to 11. So, if you think one game is worlds better than the other, you can give a final score of 11-0. If you think the games are real close in preference, give a score of 6-5. Other possible scores are 10-1, 9-2, 8-3, and 7-4. At the end of the match-up, the game with the higher average score will advance.

3. If you don't adhere to the 11-point system, your vote will not count.

4. Voting each week will end on Thursday at 5pm. Winners will be announced later that night, or on Friday.

As usual, I will start the discussion...

In the NCAA tourney, there always seems to be one upset in the 12 - 5 game, but I don't think this is it. Grand Game is faithful to the pricing element of the show, and also has the Bob suspense moment going for it. Freeze Frame has always bothered me some, as I rarely think contestants actually look over all the possibilities before pulling the plunger. Grand Game wins 9-2.

Let me give you some backround on the second matchup.  Why does Hit Me have such a high seed? To be honest, I don't remember, it just kinda slipped in there.  I have never been a big Dice Game fan.  It is usually played for cheap cars, and is easy to win, even if you have no clue what you are doing.  I can't say Hit Me is one of my favorites either, but if you can ID the exact price of one product, you can win.  Hit Me wins in a squeaker, 6-5.

Well, I did not catch that error.

Here we go again...

Grand Game has a green glitzy setup and is a very classic game.  It has easy gameplay and it is exciting to win the $10,000/$20,000.  There have been memorable wins over the years.  Freeze Frame is a game with a nifty film set, but it is a victim of "Range Game syndrome".  In the end, Grand Game wins 9-2.

Hit Me is a classic grocery game on the show with a cool set, but contestants get confused when playing it.  Dice Game relies on luck and is compatible with either really cheap cars (Chevy Cobalt, Ford Focus, etc.) or more expensive ones (Pontiac G6, Ford Mustang, etc.), nothing in the middle.  The set is even cooler than Hit Me's with the 3-D dice.  This is tough, but in the end Dice Game wins 7-4.

Interesting match-ups!

Grand Game has a nice set with lots of green and lots of lights. It's also played for Ten Large. Might be a little overplayed, and easy for the money it offeres, but it's still a cool game.

Freeze Frame has a nice set nifty sound effects, and a cool winning flash, but in the end it's just a quickie Range Game rip-off played for a single prize.

The Green Game wins this one!

Grand Game 8-3

I think Hit Me might be overanked here! Yes, it does have a good set, but it's WAY TOO EASY to win!!! Too many contestants stumble into a win without even knowing how they won, how to play or how to do simple math! It's also kinda dull.

Dice Game might be lucked-based, but it's much more exciting with its close wins and heartbreaking losses. It also had lots of memorable contestants like Scott, Walter and Edrie.  Great set, too!

We might have our first upset of the tournament!

Dice Game 9-2

Grand Game is more exciting than Freeze Frame. Would you rather win $10,000 or a $3,000+ prize?

Grand Game wins 9-2

Hit Me vs. Dice Game

I have always found Hit Me Challenging. Dice Game is much easier and has a better set design than Hit Me

Dice Game wins 8-3

First matchup - I can't give Freeze Frame any credit, as it's too tacky for me. Although Grandy isn't my favorite cash game, I'm going to give it the edge.

Grand Game, 8-3

Second matchup - Hit Me is one of my favorite grocery item games on the show.  It's creative, and it produces a lot of winners.  Dice Game is just okay in terms of gameplay, IMO.

Hit Me, 7-4

Grand Game has the great green set with the Popeyes-shaped chase lights (old logo, that is), and the "mini" dollar amount below the main one.  Freeze Frame has a pretty darn good set as well, with the numbers revolving around the price, and the thing looking like a construction site.  Guess they're making a movie about a construction site.

And while Freeze Frame may have the cute little numbers spinning, Grand Game just has "it."  Freeze Frame doesn't.  Grand Game has the excitment of each reveal, especially the last, and the numbers sliding, and one of the best winning flashes!  It's just darn good!

Grand Game wins, 8-3.

And we're all curious how Hit Me got such a high seed.  Hit Me is ridiculously easy--a bad point--and it confuses the hell out of most contestants who play it--also a bad point.  Why such an easy game would cause such difficulty I don't really know.  Probably because the rules are somewhat complex, even though Bob's advice of picking out the price multiplied by 10 and the exact price should not be.

Dice Game is just a simple car game, with dice rolling for each number, and guessing whether the actual number is higher or lower than that rolled.  Not the easiest game, but a pretty simple game, with lots of simple excitment added in, worrying if a contestant did well with guessing higher or lower.  Oddly enough, 2s and 5s tend to be more exciting than 3s and 4s, likely because those can give more of a shocking result than a 3 or 4 does.

Hit Me has an all right set.  Dice Game has a better set.  Simple as that.

Dice Game wins, 9-2.

Grand Game is a good game with the awesome green set and a pretty cool concept. Freeze Frame has a nice set to, but there's something about Grand Game that's better. Freeze Frame kind of rips off Range Game. Bob really raises the suspense in Grand Game too.

Grand Game wins 9 to 2.

Although Hit Me is a neat game with a good concept, it confuses too many contestants. The game is much easier than people play it. It's got a good set, but Dice Game gets the win here. A much better concept, rolling dice and determining if the number is higher or lower. A much better set too, and the flashing effects for the win are really neat. Pretty suspensful too.

Dice Game wins 7 to 4.

Grand game Vs Freeza Frame
Grand game offer lots of cash. Freeza fame it's too slow of a game for me.

Verdict Grand game 9 to 2.

Hit me vs Dice game
Hit me and Dice Game are both good to watch neither are boring to watch but I like Dice game more than Hit me
Verdict Dice Game 8 TO 3.

Grandy vs Freeze:

Nothing says cash like Grand Game's green set.  A certain contestant comes to mind when I think of this game -- her name is Pauline.  This game has a lot going for it, from cash wins to Bob's ability to provide suspense within the game, especially on the last pick, when the odds are 2:1 against the player.

Freeze Frame is just a new take on a quickie game.  Find the right two pairs of numbers that make up the price.  The audience often convinces the contestant to pull the lever prematurely.  However, I just don't get the same feeling about this one that I do about Grand Game.

Grand Game wins 9-2.

Hit Me vs. Dice Game

Both games are straight out of the casino, and I feel the seeds should have been switched on this one.  I have more fun watching Dice Game than Hit Me, one of those being contestants Edrie and Scott.  What kinds of moments do we really have with Hit Me?  I can't think of one off-hand.  It confuses too many people with its pricing rules then are shocked when they win.

After all that, Dice Game wins, 8-3.

GRAND GAME vs. FREEZE FRAME

Freeze Frame is just a quickie that is played for a 4-digit prize. While this game does offer some nice prizes, if you don't pay attention, you'll miss this game. On the other hand, we have Grand Game, one of my all-time favorites. This game is known for its evil GP's, but it has tons of suspense.

GRAND GAME wins 7-4

HIT ME vs. DICE GAME

Hit Me is "The Price is Right" version of blackjack; I have started to believe that Roger has made this game just too easy sometimes. Dice Game, however, takes this one because it's played for a car, and the losses that this game has are sometimes painful to watch.  The suspense of Dice Game ranks above Hit Me, so...

DICE GAME wins 10-1

GRAND GAME V. FREEZE FRAME

GRAND GAME: Grand Game, the easiest cash game on the show, is one of the most exciting games in the rotation. I really despise the set, though.

FREEZE FRAME: Freeze Frame, a way-cool game played for a nice prize, has one of the best sets in the rotation. The game feels like a rip-off of Range Game, though.

VERDICT: Freeze Frame wins 6-5.

-----------------------------------------------------------

HIT ME V. DICE GAME

HIT ME: Hit Me, a pricing game based on Blackjack, is one of the worst pricing games in the rotation. The set is ugly, and the game is too easy.

DICE GAME: Dice Game, a simple card game, isn't the best pricing game in the rotation, but it isn't the worst, either. The gameplay is simple, yet it is exciting. The set is too yellow for my liking.

VERDICT: Dice Game wins 11-0.

I prefer Freeze Frame to Grand Game, simply because it has a much cooler setup as well as the awesomely cool camera shutter sound effect as each price enters the frame in turn
so Freeze Frame wins 9-2

and in the Hit Me vs Dice Game matchup I've always liked the games on Price Is Right involving playing cards, and I've long thought Dice Game was far too simple to win

therefore Hit Me wins that match up by an 8 to 3 margin.

Grand Game is exciting the moment the giant price tag goes up, the trumpet closing of the "Family Feud" theme plays, and the announcer says "It's a chance to win up to $10,000 in cash!"  Freeze Frame is a boring one-prize game thanks to those slowly rotating numbers.  Freeze is a nice change of pace from Double Prices, but that's about it.

Grand Game takes it, 10-1.

And now, for match #2.  Hit Me is one part pricing, one part blackjack.  Dice Game is one part guessing game, one part... dice.  There's no real pricing in Dice Game--it's just guessing if a certain number in the price of the car is higher or lower than what you roll.  Both games rely on luck.  In Hit Me, you better hope that the dealer doesn't turn over a blackjack when you're holding 20.  In Dice Game, you better hope that the number is not 1 when you roll a 2 or 6 when you roll a 5.  Both games have had their share of frustrations over the years.  Hit Me is frustrating cuz of contestants who can't do a simple thing like look for the marked price that ends in a zero to find the 10.  Despite that, some contestants can recover from getting suckered into picking that 8 by finding the 2 and ace for the win.  Dice Game has a tendency to produce losers via contestants rolling a 2 when the number is 1 or 5 when the number is 6.  Ford Rangers in particular have a tendency to have multiple 1s or 6s in their price.  After all of that, I still go "YAY!" whenever Hit Me shows up.

Still no upsets from me yet--Hit Me wins, 7-4.

Grand Game has that cool set and awesome reveal; I would say it's the quickest cash game on the show.  Freeze Frame is a cool one-prize game with a good looking set.  Bottom line, though, winning cash is much more exciting than winning a prize.  Grand Game wins 10-1.

Hit Me is a great one-prizer and it is really easy; however, most of the contestants make this game hard to play.  Dice Game has a really cool set and a unique way of dishing out cars; but, most of it depends on luck, and the cars are really cheap.  This is tough, but I will say Hit Me wins 6-5.

I do like the set for Freeze Frame, but I agree that the urge to stop too soon is very high. If the price you want goes around, few people wait for it to come around again, fearing that they're taking too long (similarly with Card Game, Magic # and Range Game). Grand Game is one of those games that I always love to see, and it can be easy or truly evil, depending on the whims of a certain Roger. For me, the choice is pretty clear:

Grand Game wins 9-2

Hit Me vs. Dice Game is a harder choice. I've loved Dice Game since I was a little kid, especially for the set (colorful, lots of blinking or chasing lights). But it has its limits or predictablilty, though at least the confusion factor is low. Hit Me is an underplayed game, and I do love GP games! The strategy may be easy, but some people don't seem to know it. And yet they can pull out wins with a little luck.

Hit Me wins 6-5

I have always loved Grand Game.  Green is my favorite color, and since Grand Game's set is mostly green, I love the Grand Game set.  Grand Game you can win 10 grand, in Freeze Frame you just win one prize, and the prize might be a grandfather clock or an unusable vehicle.  Freeze Frame I've never really liked.  It suffers from Range Game Syndrome.  Freeze Frame is probably my least favorite one prize game on the show.
Grand Game 11, Freeze Frame 0.

Dice Game vs Hit Me
Dice Game is a neat car game.  It's quick, so we see it a lot.  It has simple rules roll the die guess whether the number is higher or lower.  It is very luck based.  If you roll a 5 and guess lower and the number is 6, it creates a painful loss.
Hit Me is very easy for me, because I'm good at math.  What bugs me with Hit Me is that people don't know to pick the price ending in 0 to get the 10 or face card.  Basic, simple, 4th grade multiplication people don't see to get.  People make this game so much harder than it actually is.  Roger could make it more difficult to reward LFATs.

This is a real toss up
Dice Game 6, Hit Me 5

Grand Game has all the fun and drama with $10,000 at stake and figuring out four products below the target price has its excitement. Freeze Frame has many possibilities to choose and has the audience helping out but has about a pitch of drama involved.

Grand Game wins 9-2.

Dice Game is neat to play but a little evil pursues when a number you roll cannot always be Higher or Lower. Hit Me is also a neat game where the game of Blackjack is involved but trying to figure out fake prices of products divided by numbers can be such a uninspired matter.

Dice Game wins 8-3.

Grand Game good. Freeze Frame good, but it can't quite compare to Grand Game. Grand Game wins 6-5.

Dice Game decent. Hit Me too complicated for contestants and too frustrating. Dice Game wins 10-1.

Grand Game vs. Freeze Frame. Freeze Frame is a nice 1 prize quickie, cool looking set, neat shutter sound made as the prices go around, BUT Grand Game is just that GRAND. First ever GP cash only game, great set-the color of money-GREEN!! Great suspense-Bob's reveals are awesome in this game. If this was any other game Freezey was up against it'd have a chance, but against Grand Game? It doesn't.

Grand Game wins 11-0.

Dice Game v. Hit Me.
Dice Game-good quick car game. No frills, great set, great suspense at times when it comes down to whether or not a contestant should have or should not have gone against the odds-like today's playing. Hit Me-its a good game, but what gets me is that contestants are oblivious to the prices shown, forget about multiplication, and just downright get confused at times. Dice Game wins based on simplicity.

Dicey 8-3.

I have never liked Freeze Frame.  It's boring, it can take unnecessarily long if the contestant takes too long to make a decision, and has some of the most "dead air" in the show if the contest is waiting for the board to spin 3/4 of the way around again.  Grand Game, while definitely not my favorite cash game, is still exciting, and Bob's teasing the reveal is always fun.  Grand Game wins 11-0.

Like many others, I see an upset here.  I like card-based games and blackjack, but Hit Me just isn't that exciting.  As others have pointed out, it should be fairly straightforward, but rarely is.  Dice Game was my favorite game as a young child watching the show.  I still enjoy it, especially as its starting to get played with more cars starting with the number 2.  Dice Game wins 9-2.

Grand Game:  Classic.  Only cash game that hasn't gone pastel;  its green is perfect, representing the cash you can win.  Simple and unique pricing concept.  Great reveal.

Freeze:  OK game, the camera clicks are cool.  But a quickie one-prize game has no chance against GG.

Grand wins 9-2.

Hit Me:  A fun one based on the concept of blackjack;  I like it because strategy can be used in this game as much as just about any other game;  look for the item ending in 0!

Dice:  Another fun one, based on dice rolling.  Set works for what it needs to do.  A bit too much luck for my liking, but I do like it when it comes out and it's my opinion that this seeding is too low for it.

Close matchup, but Hit Me takes it 6-5.

GRAND GAME VS. FREEZE FRAME

BEGIN BATTLE!

Grand Game is a very exciting and easy game, giving out $10,000 for doing barely any work.  The only cash game set that is NOT pastel-coloured (hooray for not destroying my eyes!) and very majestic.  It is still frustrating, however, when a contestant loses by picking a product that is obviously over the target price (supplements, pain relievers, etc.) or takes forever asking the audience to help... which seems to be what Freeze Frame suffers from.  Sure, looking for help isn't wrong, but when the correct looking prices flashes by, the contestant snaps and captures the wrong price by accident.  (Horrible use of puns here...)  Plus, it takes a long time to make a guess and the prizes are relatively uninterestingly (as with most one prize games).

Grand Game wins 10-1

DICE GAME VS. HIT ME

BEGIN BATTLE!

Dice Game is an interactive game, because they could've just easily made the concept boring by already giving the numbers and asking whether it's higher or lower (wait... that sounds like Bonkers! ;-)), but instead, you get to control your own fate, and with a flashy set of yellow and red to boot.  Sure, the cars are usually cheaper, but contestant interaction, if time allows it, makes up for the lack of a big prize.  Hit Me is just basically Blackjack, Price-style, and the pricing portion is ridiculously easy if you know how to multiply by 1 and 10, BUT the contestants sometimes don't understand the rules of multiplication and randomly pick products.  And if that results in a win, that makes it even worse, because they don't deserve it.  I do give it props for having a cool blue/gold set, and the usage of big cards.  They're not the best games in my book...

Dice Game wins 7-4

Grand Game is my favorite cash game, and is fun, exciting, and suspenseful, with a great set. Freeze Frame, on the other hand, is just an average game that's nowhere near as exciting as Grandy.

Grand Game wins, 10-1.

Between Dice Game and Hit Me, however, it's a bit more difficult. Both games are OK, but neither of them are favorites of mine. Ultimately, I like Dice Game better, because it has a really cool set, and is pretty fun. Hit Me is brought down by the contestants that usually play it, and isn't really as fun as Dice Game.

Dice Game wins, 7-4.

Grand Game is a great game, you have a heck of a chance to snag $10,000. It's also very exciting. Freeze Frame is played for a decent prize, but not as exciting.

Grand Game 8-3

Dice Game is awesome and happens to be one of my favorite games. Great set, and great premise to the game. Hit Me is also a good game, based on Blackjack, and sometimes played for some good prizes. This one is a great contest but I'll have to give it to Dice Game.

Dice Game 7-4

Grand Game vs. Freeze Frame:

Freeze Frame is a "quickie" (or at least inteded to be one) pricing game which is played for four-digit prices - and that just isn't likely to change. Sadly, it's also a game that seems to fall victim to Range Gameitis (except, well, it isn't Range Game).

The set is okay, the "camera shutter" sound effect is kind of cool, but that's about all I can say for this game.

Maybe I'm a bit more biased toward Grand Game than I should be, since this is one of the two cash games I grew up with. This game rewards LFAT's (or at least those who shop and know prices), while it can bite you in the rear if you don't.

I've always loved the set, and of course there is the most important thing of all: The Bob Factor. You can never go wrong with a game where Bob can build up the suspense and drive the contestants nuts by dragging out the reveal.

I'll go with...

"Where are you from, again?"

I'll go...

"What do you do for a living?"

I'm going with Grand Game, 11 to 0.

Hit Me vs. Dice Game:

I like Hit Me, don't get me wrong. This was a game I always enjoyed while growing up, and time has not changed my opinion. I've always liked the set (and you can't go wrong with those giant cards), and let's face it, there are far worse games you can play for a single prize...

But going up against Dice Game? No.

Dice Game has been another one I've loved since I was a kid. From the cool set (and you know you're getting old when it was still WHITE and red when you started watching it), to the fun of getting to roll large dice, this is a game I rarely find myself disappointed with.

Sure, the game depends on luck, but what makes up for that is that nearly playing is exciting - whether it's a nail-biting win, or a heartbreaking loss.

I smell a 13-4 upset coming... Dice Game, 9 to 2

Grandy vs. Freezy: Freeze Frame is not without its merits.  It has a cool concept, the set looks great, and it has a unique sound effect.  It does suffer from Range Game syndrome, however, though that's more the fault of the contestants and not the game itself.  Compared to Grand Game, it is no contest.  Grandy has a great cue (I've always loved it), can be quite exciting at the end, and also can be made quite difficult.  It's the best casher in my opinion.

Grand Game wins 9-2.

Hit vs. Dice: I'll take Dice Game over Money Game any day, but that's not going to save it against probably the most underrated GP game.  Hit Me has a great concept and can be won every time if you know the trick and can spot the right products.  Even a poor playing is entertaining.  Unfortunately, Dice by definition must be played for cheap cars, and it is rarely overly exciting.

Hit Me wins 8-3.

Freeze Frame...is there one good thing that can be said about this?  This is a game of "Pull the lever at random and pray you've picked the right random moment", or at least it seems to be most of the time it's played.  Not to mention the pacing of the game suffers from Pick-A-Pair Syndrome (having to wait for the right time cuts a good 20 seconds off the show).  At least the sound effect's decent, I guess.

Even if Grand was only a mediocre game, it would walk over Freeze Frame 11-0, but as it stands, Grand's one of the true classics of the show.  It might be a little easy, sure, but man oh man is it exciting.  If I could, I'd give this one to Grand Game 15 to -4, but since that's not in the rules, we'll have to settle for Grand Game 11, Freeze Frame 0.

Hit Me?  I like this game.  The set's interesting, and smart people (by which I mean those who can multiply) can win this pretty much every time.  Unfortunately, this suffers from occasional 'forced wins', where no matter how badly the contestant does, they still win by default if the house busts.

Dice Game is a relatively simple car game, which gets bonus points for the actual rolling of the dice.  Something about rolling those dice across that little table is just fascinating.  Once you get past that, though, I don't very much like the game itself though.  A bit too luck-based, even if that luck makes for some dramatic moments.

I like these games about equally (why couldn't this have been the 8/9, or better, next round's 4/5?), but I'll have to give the edge to one of them...Dice Game 6, Hit Me 5 solely because Dice offers cars and Hit Me doesn't.

Grand Game vs Freeze Frame: Grand Game is a game that can be pretty suspensful and exciting.  It also has the better prize and the better set.  I like Freeze Frame's set too and it is easy to understand.  I also like how the set pieces move in the game.  But I have to go with Grand Game here since it is a better game to watch in general.
Grand Game wins 8-3.

Dice Game vs Hit Me: Both games have a nice set.  Dice Game can be suspensful at least sometimes while Hit Me is most of the time quite predictable with what cards are with what products.  I like Hit Me's creativity though.  Dice Game is also the more fun game but Hit Me can be fun.  But in general I like Dice Game more.
Dice Game wins 7-4.

Grand Game vs. Freeze Frame: I like Freeze Frame's sound effects, but I'm a bigger fan of Grand Game, mainly because it's a cash game, plus it involves some risk instead of just pulling a lever.

Grand Game: 9-2

Dice Game vs. Hit Me: I'm a fan of both games, but I have to give a slight edge to Dice Game because there's almost always some suspense, particularly when a lot of 3's and 4's are rolled.

Dice Game: 6-5

Grand Game vs. Freeze Frame

I've got nothing against either of these games, though Freeze Frame has never stood out -- it's a game that makes me say, "Oh yeah, this is one of the pricing games on the show" every single time they play it. You'd think I'd have learned by now! Grand Game stands out by virtue of offering cash for its prize. Though it seems to always be either too easy or too hard (rarely any middle ground), I prefer Grand Game, but they're both good games -- I'll vote Grand Game, 6-5.

Hit Me vs. Dice Game

I used to like Dice Game like Joe Plinko likes Dice Game, until I realized how much it has to do with luck and not about pricing. The third and fourth numbers, especially -- you basically hope you don't roll a 3 or a 4 and always go with the odds. And seemingly half the time, the second number, the only one you can expect someone to price, is rendered useless by a go-with-the-odds die roll. On the other hand, Hit Me is really easy to win if you know your pricing -- actually, maybe a little too easy. But the contestants sure don't realize it. And when a contestant who doesn't realize it wins anyway because the house busted... I have a reverse luck bias against Hit Me. But still, I'll give the nod to Hit Me, 8-3.

The first match-up is simple Grand Game is played for 10 Grand (It would be nice if they upped it for inflation its been 10 gs since the late 70s!) but none the less its still 10 Grand and has exciting game play that it totally based on pricing products rewarding loyal viewers and good shoppers. Freeze Frame gets on my nerves. It reminds me of Pick-A-Pair when it was on the ferris wheel. It takes forever when you just have to sit there and wait endlessly for a particular price to come back around. The sound effect is annoying too! Hands down win for The Grand Game 10-1!

The second match-up is a little more difficult. Both based on Casino games (one of my favorite places to frequent) Dice Game is played for a car, but involves a lot more luck than Hit Me. I really like grocery games because it seems like they are not played nearly as often as many of the overused car games. In the end Hit Me is the winner because blackjack is my favorite casino game to play. Final Score Hit Me 9-2.

Grand Game is a classic with the all-green money feel to it.  The drama builds as the contestant gets closer and closer to $10,000.
Freeze Frame on the other hand is totally boring with the contestant sometimes waiting 30 or 45 seconds to just choose which price.  Sure the idea is good, but it's just not fun.  So...

Grand Game 9, Freeze Frame 2.

Hit Me is a good game with a Great set.  The blue flashy lights just say "Vegas" on them.  The pricing aspect (and winning for that matter) is just too easy.  Many times, the game ends after just two choices and I feel cheated out of a playing since it was so quick!
Dice Game is a classic game with some luck involved.  Bob has mentioned recently (in the last two years) many times that Dice Game is a fan-favorite pricing game.  Based on this, and the fact that I love the game,

Dice Game 6, Hit Me 5.

The only excitement Freeze Frame ever provides is when the price slips by just when Bob finishes explaining the game and you get to wonder the contestant will ride it out until it gets back or pick the next reasonable choice. Other than that, it's an ugly, slow game. Grand is not my favorite grocery-casher but it has that pleasing green set, higher stakes, and an element of risk, which makes for better gameplay overall. SO Grand takes it 8 to 3.

I like the concept of Hit Me, but since the contestants never understand how to play it, the concept rarely matters much. I like the neon blue lights, though. Luck-based as Dice Game is, it's fast-paced and fun to watch...lots of tension in waiting to see what numbers come up on the dice and whether the contestant made the right choices. Plus I've always really liked the squares that light up on the board when the contestant makes his picks. Dice Game, 7-4.

#5 GRAND GAME vs #12 FREEZE FRAME
You have two boring pricing games, IMHO.  At least, GG gives away $10,000 ($20,000 on MDS's).  GG is truly a pricing game where you have to deduce which grocery products are less than a target price.

FF, is a snoozer, as you have to judge when the four numbers fall into the film cell.  More winners have come from the GG than FF.

Grand Game, in a rout, 10-1.

#4 HIT ME vs #13 DICE GAME

To paraphrase from Dick Vitale: UPSET CITY, BABY!

My question is:  Why is Dice Game #13?  It should have been the other way around.  Hit Me is not an enjoyable game at all.  People who watch TPiR daily know that there is always a multiplied price ending in zero, hence the ten (or face card) is hidden there.  Pick a price that appears to be the exact price, get an Ace, and you win.  Too easy.

In the 30 years of Dice Game, luck has become an interesting element to pricing a car.  In the beginning, the numbers could be zero, or higher than six (7-9).  TPiR wised up after several playings, making the prices of cars featuring only numbers 1-6.  The game is like Card Sharks, in a way, because you have to predict if a certain number is higher or lower (if the # is not correct).  This past week featured a terrific contestant who guessed higher on a 5 AND WAS RIGHT.

Dice Game eliminates Hit Me, 11-0.

Grand Game vs. Freeze Frame

Grand Game is a very cool cash game, one of the best, I think.  The set and the excitement factor is among the best on the show.  Freeze Frame is an ok game..but doesn't really strike my fancy.

Grand Game wins 10-1.

Hit Me vs. Dice Game

Hit Me is an intriguing pricing game with a nice concept, but its played too often by contestants who don't know what they are doing.  For a quickie GP game, I like it.  Dice Game is a classic, enduring car game with a simple premise.  The set is good, but its played a bit too often for my liking.

In a close one, Hit Me wins 6-5.
