Poor Philip. After spending five days waiting outside Television City he's been snakebit three times today in the One-Bids. This is the last one for quite some time, and the last thing he wants is to be the last person banished to the "First Four" Breakfast Club. Can he arise to the occaison? Will the wait be worth it?
Philip escapes! He plays ANY NUMBER
SHOWCASE ROUND Denise has the honor.
Today's Pricing Games: 3 for 6 Total Winnings: $202,505 FOR THE SEASON: |
and then, Barker took his final bow...or did he?
First Four lineup: mixed - Philip just had to bid last (You'd think we'd get this right on the final day!)

Not because I didn't like what they did through any point of the show, not at all. It's that once the show ended, there's no more Barker. You 'didn't enjoy it' ?!?! I can understand how once the show ended you didn't like, since no more Bob. But it would seem that while you were watching you were enjoying it, no?

Anybody watch it in primetime tonight? Was there any bonus material?
So, now, what was that slight set change that was supposed to be on today's show that we're likely to approve of? I didn't notice anything different, except for the permanence of the confetti.

Great final show. Just as I'd hoped. No clips. Just a generally normal show

* IUFB #1 Plasma - That was a very nice touch having Bob's entrance from the very first show on the TV. Very poignant. Beautiful. The more things change the more they stay the same.

you may NOT declare the Price flame extinguished...yet. When it's finally cancelled you may, but not now.
Who was the very FIRST person called to Come on Down?
Sandy (actually, she was told to 'Stand up!')
And the last? Elijah
And if you believe in a higher power, in Christianity the Bible says that
Elijah is expected to arrive before the Second Coming of Jesus.

I love how Roger loves to make Grocery Game hard, but today of all days, how could you not set it up easy? Even if you just stuck the 55¢ cookies in the game, that would have at least helped. That being said, Melba at least tried her hardest.
Am I the only one who was even a little surprised the neither of the Showcase themes were about Bob even the least bit? You would have thought today of all days, but apparantly not.

Word on the street (and by 'street', I mean 'Sally') is that this was originally planned and then nixed by Mr. Barker.

Also nixed was any reference to his final show by contestants, I've been told.

Three little quibbles about what was otherwise a fantastic send-off for Bob:
2) I would've liked to have seen Bob mention the fact that Any Number was his first and last pricing game.
3) In the "Saint" showcase, shouldn't Bob have been mentioned as one? ;-)

Let's put it this way. If I were the last person called of the "First Four", and the lineup was going left to right as it was today, I'd expect that spot nearest Barker.

Until I saw Grocery Game, it never dawned on me that Bob would be playing his first 3 pricing games as the last 3.

Lucky Seven: When I saw 4567, I did not think the last number would be 5. I was wrong. I would have guessed zero for the last digit.

The consensus on here, from what I gather, is that people on here don't like Plinko. Why is that, just out of curiosity?

I actually don't like Plinko anymore either...I thought it was "cool" because it seemed different...these days it's not fun or really interesting.

I actually don't like Plinko anymore either... years ago, I thought it was "cool" because it seemed different from the other games, and I liked the stick Bob used sometimes(whatever happened to that?), but these days it's not fun or really interesting. When I found out it was going to be on the finale(which was obviously a no brainer) I wasn't feeling great about it. Yeah, $10,000 winners are fairly common, but equally as many times there's next to nothing won(and there's really no middle ground). $1,500 only on Bob's final show was really depressing to me. When I go back and watch the highlights, I skip over it.
Oh yeah, and the intro is so lame, plus the audience getting all excited about it, It's very blah.

What's expected isn't always what happens. The rule is that the first four contestants can stand anywhere they want that isn't already taken. ...

But if that were me coming down the aisle, especially Barker-side, and the lineup was going left to right, they darn well better move over or I'd make 'em, hee hee.

I also agree that the old intro was fun, but I am guessing that the producers like the crowd reaction in the background shot when making the Plinko annoucement by Rich

Actually, getting rid of the sign was a Bart decision.

This by far had to be the best finale of any season for Bob Barker & also ending his time after 50 yearsYou're right. I was only 9 years old, but I knew how special he was and that was sad, even for my young-self, to see him retire and give out his final sign-off. You didn't have to be real old to know how special "Bob Barker" was, if you watched "The Price Is Right".
