Lucky Seven was fairly easy... an early sign that Roger's going to be extremely nice today, as he should be.

Even though it was at Kristen's expense, it was great to see the dollar hit on Bob's finale. It just had to happen.

Something that really disappointed me was how Denise didn't pay any attention to Bob after she won. I had been hoping this wouldn't happen. I wanted to see the winning contestant forget about the prizes they won for a moment, and acknowledge the retirement of a legend. I'm sure Philip would have done that, but unfortunately, he didn't win.

HOTTIES: #317, Kristen (http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/4210/317kristen61507gq5.jpg); #318, Katrina (http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/2918/318katrina61507ry6.jpg) :-D
BEST CONTESTANT OF THE DAY: The contestants were great today, but there's only one person who deserves this award, even though he's not a contestant... BOB!
SHOW GRADE: 4

Lucky Seven: fairly easy and a lucky win!

PLINKO!: could've been better.

Range Game!: Yay!

Double Prices: for a Chrysler 300!?  I would've picked the top one too and won.

Grocery Game: Again this wasn't easy.  Wrong product to take two of!

Any Number: How fitting, and Philip deserved better today.

SC's: expectedly loaded, and an awesome day for Denise!  I thought is was noble of her to pass the first showcase, yet she would up one of the winningest players ever!

This was a good show to send BOB off with.  Here's to another fine year (if any) next season. Goodbye everybody!

Lucky Seven was setup for an easy win... all 5's would have had a few dollars leftover. Beautiful Corvette.

Plinko-Tough luck.

Range Game-Exciting win... and we got to hear the 37 hours comment one last time from Bob.

Double Prices-Easy win and once again exciting.

Grocery Game-Too bad

Any Number-Tough luck.

Showcases-WOW! Broke the bank on both, though I wasn't totally surprised. Congrats to Denise and everyone else who was on the final show.

We'll miss you Bob, thanks for decades of great fun.

Philip was the best contestant of the day.  He somehow managed to have fatigued/stunned/thrilled look all wrapped up into one.  I was hoping for a bed in your showcase, b/c it looked like you needed one *lol*  You must've slept like a rock after that show.  How much/little sleep did you get?

I was also disappointed that the woman at the end ran straight for her prizes.  For all we know, though, she could've said something to Bob after taping stopped.

What a show!

The thing that surprised me the most about today's show was the Showcase bidding.  I really expected one or both of the contestants to garf badly.  Given the prizes and prices, both contestants bid VERY WELL, and I was glad to see that!

I really liked Denise's attitude!  "I already have a car, so I'm going to pass."  How many of you just KNEW that there was another car in the second showcase??  I don't think anyone should have been surprised by that.  Personally, I was expecting a Viper, but the Cadillac was nice, too!

I was a little disappointed to see Plinko, however.  You could tell that Roger was exceptionally generous with the prizes and game setups throughout the entire show.  Even with Plinko, the SP's were no-brainers.  The problem is, Plinko is so unpredictable, as Kristen learned.  It's tough to force a win in Plinko.  I will admit, if Kristen has actually WON MORE MONEY, my attitude would very likely be different.  I just wanted to see everybody win, today.

Overall, an excellent show.  I'm going to miss Bob...

Well, at least we can enjoy Bob's presence through the summer reruns!

Au revoir, Bob! Thanks for 35 years of TPiR.

Lucky: What a great way to start off a season finale.

Plinko: :rollold: Uhhh, I expected the daytime and nighttime score beaten here. But $1,500 isn't bad, now is it?

Range: A :frbs: as a prize? And won?? Am I dreaming? In normal CSS, :frbs: s are what cause me to slip up and sometimes go OVER.

DP: One of my favorite cars, a Chrysler 300--won on Bob's last day. I truly believe people who win these cars should be able to get into the Showcase.

Grocery Game: OWWW!...that MRRRRP buzzer told the whole story today. I honestly don't think that 2 soap bars will get you to the total if it's set up like that.

Any Number: Double OW... I honestly thought Dob was up to his tricks again.

Showcases: Although I couldn't participate in chat around the 2nd SCSD (my chances to score a :dsw: in CSS were used up anyway), let me just say that the last of the Bob-hosted Showcases were HUGE! We also almost had a repeat of the season opener, but Denise didn't DSW, which isn't bad. Not bad at all. But at least there were no overbids. Enjoy your new cars, Denise! :D

Sidenotes: Prior to the show starting, my prediction of a hottie (sorry, heels) winning on Bob's last show were proven wrong, though I had a confession of wanting Kristen to win the showcase. Oh, well...

Also: If Denise scored a :dsw: , she would have been CBS' BIGGEST winner of all time with $208,312 in cash and prizes.

(Note to self: Now that Season 35 is over, I gotta brush up on my CSS skills to aim for that QSW, and what would be a better way to do it than watch old reruns next week!)

See you in September for Season 36...and a new host (or will it?)! :P

Best contestant: Denise
2nd best: Philip
3rd best: Kristen

My score: 100 (A++) (I gave it an A++ because I thought that this was the best PiR that Bob did...EVER!)

Lucky Seven:  Close win....but glad she won that thing!

Plinko:  Ouch....such a small amount for the last one under Barker's tenure.

Double Prices:  A cakewalk for anyone who knew their 300s.

Grocery Game:  Was it me.....or did these products seem tough today?

Any Number:  Owwww....

Showcases:  Great showcases for Barker's final show.

Overall:  A good way to send off the legendary Bob Barker.  Absolutely awesome. :-)

I figured they'd save Plinko for today of all days.  Also, I think coordinating Any Number as the last game was very appropriate.  It was Barker's first game, and now it was his last game (if he doesn't come back next season as a temporary host of course).  And Denise's $140,000+ win was a wonderful way to go out.  A double showcase win would've been great today, but at least it wasn't a double overbid.  Best wishes to you, Barker from a 32-year old West Virginia fan.  As Maeve Ryan closed out the last episode of Ryan's Hope, "Have a good life!"

This was a perfect way for Bob to go out. Roger put together a great lineup of games, then made most of them as easy as possible (although Grocery Game is almost always hard). I also figured the showcases would be extremely expensive, so there would be little chance of a double overbid.

My sister and I were cheering for Philip to make it on stage, after that long wait. It's a shame he was unable to win Any Number.

This show was excellent; it had a little bit of everything, from one contestant falling down after being called to come on down, and another one falling down at the Big Wheel. It had the perfect balance of celebrating Bob and staying with its normal format.

What I thought was great was that Bob didn't call extra attention to himself; he was his normal self. While everyone knew the significance of the show, he performed at his best, and simply thanked viewers at the end. What a class act; I'll truly miss him.

Well, this is it. We all know this is the last show of the season and probably Bob Barker's last episode. So... decked out in my attire from my appearance, here I go.

Well, the DVD copy started at the start of the first contestant. My VHS copy has it all. For a moment there, I thought I was flying over the audience, but then I realized they're using the tilting camera like they do on the nightime specials.

Lucky $even: During play, I wondered if using the all 5 tatic would work. At the end, I figured that would work perfectly. I probably would have ended up with a couple of dollars if I used the numbers I would have used (I forgot; it was all about Denise and her trying to win).

Plinko: Getting the Plinko chips were easy. If only those chips went inside the bracketed areas (like 1000 or 10000). Oh, well.

Range Game: For a brief moment, I was about to say "FRBPG!" when I saw that boat. This time, I wanted to see and hear the Peanut Gallery's responses of when to stop. When they got loud, I wanted Francisco to press the button immediately. Ooh, just made it!

Showcase Showdown 1: From this point, there was never a doubt in my mind that Denise is a total LFaT.

Double Prices: "Where's the game? Don't tell me we're playing Double Prices for a car like that!"
And this was before I made the wrong choice, thinking they won't offer cars close to $30K outside of the Showcase. They can and did.

Grocery Game: I predicted Melba would buy the SnoreStop and would have a difficult time after that. I thought buying two of the Doves was a good choice, but for $5.99?! Oh, cue the buzzer. This ain't going to be good.

Any Number: Philip did good until the end. When he picked 1, I lowered my eyes to the dammed Piggy Bank and there it was. Then for the last--

HOLD IT!!! Aren't the last few games the first ones played on the first episode (or at least the premiere week)??? At least I knew the first game Bob played is now the last game he officaly plays.

... number, I wanted him to pick 8. When he picked 3, I knew it would not be for the car; I acutally thought it would be for the board games, which is another prize I would like him to win. Oh, well.

Showcases: I also hoped either Showcase had some sort of recoginition of Mr. Barker, but they didn't. In my opinion or imagination, both had some sort of messages directed toward him:
Saints: Bob Barker is the Saint of The Price is Right, right?
The way the Beauties leave from the dentist's office kinda compares to Bob's leaving the show in retirement form.
Once again, that's how my brain works.
Hey, who is that giving help to Philip?  ;-)
I had a strong feeling Denise was going to win this huge Showcase. I actually wanted her to win over Philip, even though both were very great contestants.
What a nice way to end the season. I became quiet in the end, thinking this is how Bob wanted to finish it all: just like another show.

The lump in the throat and the crying is coming back. I know it's all worth it. The last shot of the WGMC was one I probably would never forget.

Of course, we now know this may not be his last show. But I say let's just get a little experience of what it would be like when it's offical that it's all over and Mr. Barker can enjoy his well-deserved retirement.
I wish him the very best.  :pint:

Let's put it this way. If I were the last person called of the "First Four", and the lineup was going left to right as it was today, I'd expect that spot nearest Barker. Conversely, if I were the first called, I'd be grabbing that same spot, and it would take brute force move me from it.

But, back to the business at hand.

We all knew this day was coming since Halloween, but it's still hard to believe that today is Bob's last show, or as Joe said...is it?

I'm also glad that I never watched any of the newscasts or checked any spoilers online that had anything to do with today. I could tell Lucky $even would be played because of the commercials over the past week, and I pretty much guessed about the rest. It made today's show a little more exciting to me not to know about anything until I watched it. :-)

Roger completely, without question, wanted Lucky $even won. It was ridiculously easy. Denise was a lot of fun. It's cool how she mentioned to Bob that she was born only a few days after the start of TPiR. Great contestant, awesome playing!

Double Prices was also a gimme. The 2 prices were completely opposite that the top one was screaming to be picked.

Until I saw Grocery Game, it never dawned on me that Bob would be playing his first 3 pricing games as the last 3. I had a feeling it might happen, but I guess I was just caught up in the moment of the final show that it slipped my mind!

Too bad Philip did not do better in Any Number. After waiting in line for 5 days, he deserved to get on stage and what not. And I agree....Philip had every right to choose where he stood in contestant's row. Hell, I would have too after waiting for outside in line for 120 hours!!!

The showcases were great. I wish at least one of them could have been some sort of tribute to Bob. I know Bob wanted no special treatment for his "last" show, but it would have been nice to see it. Balloons would not have hurt either.

I'm going to guarantee, and I think JacobWilkey will testify later, that Rachel had the highest modeling total today. No doubt about it! :-D

Well, this was a fun show to send Bob out on, future events not withstanding.

I liked how they pulled back from the TPiR logo as the show started, I don't recall off hand ever seeing that before. Also I hoped they would have Any Number as the last game, although I got worried for a minute when Double Prices showed up for the Chrysler.

I got the feeling that Philip was destined to be the last contestant about halfway thru the show. It was also nice to see the homemade confetti throwing again. That was a nice touch back during the season premiere. And of course one more $1000 winner on the Big Wheel.

I was bidding $52K for Philip's showcase, and $68K for Denise's.

It was a great show. I've got full confidence that TPiR will be back for a 36th Season, either with Some New Guy hosting, or Bob filling in. Enjoy your retirement, Bob, and thanks again for the memories!

Well, the amazing final episode of Bob's The Price is Right has aired.  In a way watching this show, it doesn't seem like the end of the season, or even Bob's.  I guess it hasn't sunk in yet for me.

That was really neat that they used the aerial MDS camera.    Maybe it's because they're reairing the show tonight.  Nevertheless, it was very cool to see it in daytime.

Lucky $even-Roger finally decided to be nice on Bob's last playing of Lucky $even (I expected nonetheless) and decided to put a 5 as the last number.  That playing came down to the wire, but it was great Denise won that Corvette.

Plinko-Too bad we didn't get one last $10,000 winner.  Bob will never get to see a $50,000 win as host.

Range Game-2 wins out of 3 games in the 1st half with Plinko being the other game is a really good way to start out the show!

Double Prices-It was glad to see this being played for a car.  I was wondering if and when it would be played for a car in this season, and it was during Bob's last show.

Grocery Game-I had heard in chat that Melba was there for her 101st time!  Now that is a dedicated Loyal Friend and True.  In a week full of easy setups, this setup was practically impossible.  If anything, Melba got to interact with Bob on this special day.

Any Number-A fitting way to end Bob's career with the 1st game he hosted as his last.  It's a shame, though, that Bob's last pricing game ended in a loss.

Showcases-With a week and show like this, I expected nothing less than today's.  Denise couldn't quite beat Vicky Ann's record, but she came really close to it.  And we also have a new #2 winner, which already beats yesterday's #2.  If somehow she had gotten a DSW, she would've even beaten Sheena's MDS record!

And with that ends Bob's career on The Price is Right.  It was a shame we couldn't see Bonus Game instead of Grocery Game, but with Plinko showing up, it most likely wasn't going to happen.  Although it's a good thing they played Grocery Game; at least the 2nd half was games played in Bob's 1st week.  And a perfect way to end his career with Any Number, just like it began.

Bob ended at the top of his game.  I'm glad his last show ended with the focus on Bob.  It was touching to see Rich and Bob hug at the very end.  Bob is a truly great a man who will be deeply missed.  Have a great retirement and a great rest of your life, Bob!

Well, I guess the showcases weren't as shocking as the "Every Trip in the House" yesterday--probably most of us expected both to have expensive cars--but it's still great to see anyway!  I am kinda' disappointed showcase #1 didn't have a trip to New Orleans, though.  That would've fit in nicely.

I'm a little surprised Roger made Grocery Game so near-impossible to win today.  I mean, I know tough Grocery Game setups are one of Roger's favorite pasttimes, but just that he did it today, specifically.  I was shocked at how high the soap was.

And on that note, I felt bad for Melba.  It's not often someone actually plays Grocery Game well, but she did!  Just... wow... I still can't believe how expensive the soap was!  She seemed like the quietly excited kind liable to faint had she won :oldlol:!

Embarassingly, I must admit I'd have lost Lucky $even.  Not the first time I've severly overpriced a Corvette this season... thought that second number had to be nine.  Denise was a lot of fun.

Any Number was so meant to be won.  And almost any other contestant would've won.  I mean, no one ever picks 1 or 2, everyone loves 8 and 9, and Phillip was just too much a loyal friend and true to pick the "obvious" 8 and 9.  Not that the 9 was going to help, but my point still stands.  Too bad.

As it is, it just feels "right" that Any Number was the last game today, since it was also the first game he did on his first show.  Bob started with Any Number, and ended with Any Number.

Actually, aside from Plinko, all the games today debuted within a year of the show's start!

You know, it feels like it's been over nine years since Double Prices has been played for a car :oldlol:.

Going by the odds, it's really surprising that in nine years, no one has yet won $30,000 in Plinko.  Would've really been great for today, specifically, to be the day to finally break that streak.  Darn that it didn't happen.

Well this is it. My comments on Bob's last show.

Well despite that glitch on the fourth number this game was relatively easy. Great for Denise to get the corvette.

Great win. Ditto on the 37 hours bit Bob did one final time.

I wanted Francisco to win the first showcase showdown.

Yay! A fellow Canuck wins. A car more or less.

Grocery Game wasn't really a piece of cake. It was tough.

It's great to end all PGs with the very first PG on the premiere episode back in '72. Any Number. Too bad it didn't end with a win.

After spending five days waiting and also being featured on the news I was really rooting for Philip to win it all. Though Denise wasn't bad either.

It was just great for Bob to thank of us viewers for his 50 years on television. And what really displayed on that last show today was when Rich hugged Bob and that's when I started to cry. Once again, thank you Bob from the bottom of my heart. I will never EVER forget you!

I was surprised when I finally got home from work and picking my child up, it was 3pm, only to discover a neighborhood kid sitting way up in one of my pine trees.  I was furious!  All the day I spent psyching myself up for this finale, and I came into the house enraged.  I'm still red in the face from this.

That being said, I did not shed any tears, I felt just a tad bit choked up, but only a slight tad for a moment.  This was a very nice way for Barker to take his final bow indeed.  I'm hoping against hope that tonight's primetime re-broadcast may have some "extras" that weren't shown during the daytime, but I fear that won't be the case.

I groaned when I discovered that Plinko was going to be played on this show, and only $1,500 was won.  Big suprise (he says sarcastically).  I would have much rather seen Bonus Game played.

Still it was a very nice touch to have 5 of the 6 games played that were featured from season #1, and for Any Number to be the last pricing game.  Gives one the feeling of having come full circle.

Unlike most, I'm hoping that Bob does not come back, even as a substitute.  I believe doing so would rather diminish all this buildup, as well as those 2 primetime specials in May.  I suspect, as some others of you do, that CBS and/or Fremantle wanted to wait until the season finale before saying "And the new host of The Price is Right will be...".

I thought I would feel more sentimental and choked up.  I guess preparing for this all week made me less so.  Partly due to the slim possibility of Bob returning, possibly due to the realization that he'll still be on next Monday, albeit in reruns, over the next 3-4 months (or longer).  Possibly when, and if, the new host emerges through those big doors for the first time will it TRULY hit me.  Hit me...how ironic that I used that phrase to refer to Bob's retirement, as Hit Me was retired this season too....

Best wishes Bob on a very long, and happy retirement,

With love,
A fellow Sagittarian who has watched you since the Truth or Consequences Days of 1970 at the tender age of 3....

Bill McD.

Bob's 6,728th and final episode of The Price is Right: What a wonderful show!

Lucky $even: Had this been any other day, I would have said the last number was a 9.  I'm so glad the setup was easy after many difficult ones.  My guess was $43,645, so I would have won with no money left over.

Double Prices: For a car!  Even this game was fun to watch; after all, it is Bob's last show.  I would have picked $24,041, since I didn't think the car would have been that expensive.  Both prices looked high enough to be the correct price, but now that I think about it, $29,560 does look like a better price.  Third to last game being played, and third game to debut.

Grocery Game: Tough setup.  Surprising to see camping trailer at over $11,000 was the cheapest main prize offered.

Any Number: Only fitting that Bob's first pricing game and last pricing game should be the same.  Too bad the results weren't the same.

Showcases: It was nice of Denise to pass the showcase, but it was surprising to see an expensive car in each showcase (and Denise had already won an expensive car.)

SC1: My Bid: $62,730 / Diff: $5,947
SC2: My Bid: $73,620 / Diff: $17,141

This show was just as fun to watch as the 35th Season Premiere but even more memorable than that!  It seems appropriate that the games being played were classic games, rather than new games.  Three to debut in 1972 (and all played in Bob's first week), two in 1973, and one in 1983.

Thank you, Bob, for at least 6 memorable years of TPIR.  I remember watching the 30th Anniversary Special, so I know I watched TPIR for at least 6 years, bur I can't remember anything before that.  You have made my days wonderful!  You may be retired, but your memory will never retire!

That was a real nice show to end on.

It's interesting, first episode...#1 Winner, last episode...#2 winner.

At the end, I raised what was left of my soda and ice and saluted Bob.  Whether it was on a holiday, on summer vacation, a sick day from school, or taping while working/school (from 1995 or so when I got a VCR, and about 2004 on with Tivo), thank you Bob for coming to the house by TV.  Weekdays at 10:00 AM will never be the same.

Meaning (I think), that the season premiere had the biggest winner all-time, and the season finale had the 2nd-biggest.

Well here we go for the last time.

Lucky 7: Easy: Virtually the all 5's trick would have won this.

Plinko:As said in media, it would arrive.  Ugh, we couldn't squeeze out a $10K+ win, couldn't we?

Range Game: Talk about FRB. Franscico went with the Gallery and won this game.

Double Prices: Simple, for it was a 300 Touring, which made $29,000 the right choice.

Grocery Game: EVIL!  I thought the evil streak would stop this week?

Any Number: Yay it's played. Ow!  A piggy bank win.

SC:  As predicted, 2 super expensive car would arrive.  On this 1st, I Willyed severely, thinking it was $75,000.  For the 2nd, I did better, saying it was $86,000.   And Denise becomes the 2nd Daytime champ! BTW, had she said $90,511-761, she would've broken Vickyann's Daytime by $60,895 and Sheena's record by $24,724.

Good bye Bob!  Thanks for 35 years of wonderful memories!

I don't know what to say.  I just watched the final episode, and I must say, despite everything they did, I didn't enjoy it.  Not because I didn't like what they did through any point of the show, not at all.  It's that once the show ended, there's no more Barker.  Having grown up with the show - I started watching it when I was 4, and am 28 now, it was honestly tough to see him say goodbye for the final time.  I must say as I heard Bob say goodbye and the credits rolled, I did tear up a bit.  It's like your best friend moved away.  Thanks for the memories Bob.  We're sure going to miss you.

I almost thought that we'd have perfect symmetry. First 3 games were Any Number, Bonus Game and Double Prices. Looked like they were going to end in reverse order. Guessing that the long time it takes to play BG bogarted that idea. Oh well. Still neat. Great final show. Just as I'd hoped. No clips. Just a generally normal show

You 'didn't enjoy it' ?!?!  I can understand how once the show ended you didn't like, since no more Bob. But it would seem that while you were watching you were enjoying it, no?

Anywho, I must say I fully enjoyed the trip down memory lane one last time:
* Nice job with confetti!
* IUFB #1 Plasma - That was a very nice touch having Bob's entrance from the very first show on the TV. Very poignant. Beautiful. The more things change the more they stay the same.
* Plinko. I too really wish it was skipped.  Not only for the fact it eliminates the possibilty of a 'perfect show' but that it's too unpredictable.
* Any Number:  Ah yes.  Fitting bookends to close it out.
* Also wish Denise would have thanked Bob some way on camera, but she was probably overcome with her haul!

And then it was over. I must say I held my composure very well until Bob's final sign-off.  Then as credits were rolling, that same familiar theme playing, Bob waving and Rich giving him a kiss!, the tears welled up and I was overcome.

I'll be 39 in three weeks and that's puts me in the category of those who literally have some of their earliest memories being that of The Price is Right and the one and only Bob Barker. And what memories they are and will always be! While dad was off at work, Bob became my "other" dad and then grand-dad of sorts.  And over the years that relationship has cultivated into one of love and respect and just all around good times.  The "good old days" is how I will recall Bob and his tenure. What joy it has been this last year especially, to enjoy watching the show with my own kids and making sure they knew the show and Bob and to never forget him and how we watched his last show together.

With the numerous changes through the years-- the Games, his Beauties, the announcers-- thy all come and go. But the one constant that was there from the very beginning was Bob and that is why the impact of his absence will be so strong.

Here's to Bob Barker. The Man, the Myth, the LEGEND.
We will miss you terribly but you will live on, for generations, in our minds and in our hearts. God bless.

I just had the chance to watch a tape of the last show, which I am about to see again in a couple of minutes, and I have to say this:

It was a great show.  Bob's last hurrah was wonderful, had the excitement of the Million Dollar Spectaculars, and it was exciting to see Denise win both a Corvette and a Cadillac, and become the 2nd biggest winner in the show's history.

I would like to leave the words of Johnny Carson in his goodbye, 15 years ago.

"And so, it has come to this, Bob was one of the luckiest people in the world, he found something he was wanted to do, and Bob enjoyed every single minute of it."

And for you people who are watching, I can tell you it has been an honor and a prviledge to come into your homes, for 50 years and entertain you.  And I hope that you, Bob, will find something that like and that you will invite me back into your home, and as gracious and inviting, as you have been."

And remember, to help control the pet population, have your pet spayed or neutered.  I bid you, Bob Barker, a heartfelt goodbye, everybody."

Thank you, Bob, for 50 great years on television, and God Bless You.

Lucky 7 - She won a CORVETTE!!  Awesome!:-D
Plinko - Not too good.:-(  I hoped she'd hit the $10,000 slot at least once.
Range Game - Good job!:-)
Double Prices - Nice win!:-)  Has Double Prices ever been played for a car before?
Grocery Game - Too bad!:-(
Any Number - Too bad!:-(  As long as Philip waited to get in, he deserved that car.
Showcases - Ended it big!  What a day for Denise!:-D

Overall, a fantastic show!:-D

Thanks for the memories, Bob!  You will be missed!

Anybody watch it in primetime tonight? Was there any bonus material?

I think the best part of the show today was Bob's brief and classy goodbye speech. I don't even want to call it a speech, since it was just a quick word of thanks, but it was nice that he let the show and the contestants be the focus, just like any other episode, until the moment of his sign-off. Even the showcases, aside from their hugeness, were completely ordinary in theme.

So, now, what was that slight set change that was supposed to be on today's show that we're likely to approve of? I didn't notice anything different, except for the permanence of the confetti.

Showcases - WOW! 2 big wins in 2 days! Yay Denise!!!

Grade: 10/10

Not really.  Just a quick little bit showing Bob taking his final bow to the audience (following the taping of that last show), which was then followed by a staged bit where Bob went back to his dressing room for a brief party with Roger, Fingers, and other staffers - before the models arrived with Bob's tux, reminding him of the Daytime Emmys.  Naturally, this segued into the awards opening.

Only thing I noticed that was any different was the crane camera, and I'm not sure that qualifies as a "set change."  Anyone?

Well, this being the final show with Bob (potentially), I'll give my input:

Lucky 7: I would've guessed 5 on the final number.
Plinko: Too bad we didn't see $10K hit, but $1500 sure beats zilch anyday.
Range Game: This was almost a toughie, but glad to see it won on the finale.
Double Prices: $29K sounded right (no mention of PS/FP, so it had to either end in 0 or 5).
Grocery Game: Ouch.
Any Number: Double ouch. Philip just became a victim of bad luck. I would've guessed 3 or 4 for that middle digit in that car.

Big Wheel: At least the $1K was given away. I would've liked to see the $10K won, but of course, you can't win everything.

Showcases: That dentist showcase sorta gives me nightmares of the dentist (especially with that drill sound). Nonetheless, we got another $100K+ winner in daytime. We started the season with a $100K+ winner, how appropriate to end it with one.

Other than that, I declare the 35th season closed, and the Price Is Right flame extinguished.

The Kid965: No. Addition of a Jib camera does not constitute a set change.

...and, gameshowguy, you may NOT declare the Price flame extinguished...yet. When it's finally cancelled you may, but not now.

However, this declaration I know is true. Price Season 35 is now officially adjourned sine die.

I was waiting for someone to point that out!  Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed.  Of course, most people will probably think that was "just an old clip" instead of being from the first show.

Another connection between Barker's first and last shows: in both shows, one of the First Four made it to the Showcase round.

That's all she wrote, folks! Bob is finally retired!

L7 : When I saw the first 4 numbers being 4567, I though to myself "There is no way that Roger, on this ever-so-special night, would be so evil to put an 8 at the end". I was right! 5 was the easy pick, and even though Denise didn't pick it, it worked out great for her.

P! : Well, Plinko! was ... Plinko! (cliche, I know). Easy SPs.

RG : Well played by Francesco

SCSD 1 : Too bad the hottie didn't win, but Dig For Dollars for Denise. That'll probably buy 2 tanks of gas for that 'Vette !! ;)

DP : I always thought that Double Price for a car was a waste of a car game, but this time, it was well done. Bob did a great job with the fake reveals, to make it exciting. Plus he's from Canada, so ... Go Homeboy!

GG : Well, tough luck! Can't say more.

AN : Glad to see Philip finally escaped the FFBC. However, it kinda sucks to wait 5 days and leave with a check for $7.31 !! ;) lol. Still, he made it there, and I'm glad for him!

SCSD 2 : Alright, Phil! Sucks that you beat my fellow Canuck, but I'm happy he got through, he deserves it.

Showcases : 2 good bids, given how expensive both showcases were, but in the end, Denise pulls it off! $140k, on Bob's last show, that is the best we could have hope for.

Bob couldn't have done a better job at bidding us farewell. That was the most appropriate send off he could have done. That one really got to me!

Good bye Bob. Thanks for the memories!

So we now have a bit of trivia re: TPiR 1972-2007

Who was the very FIRST person called to Come on Down?
Sandy (actually, she was told to 'Stand up!')

And the last?  Elijah

And if you believe in a higher power, in Christianity the Bible says that
Elijah is expected to arrive before the Second Coming of Jesus.

How about THAT for divine intervention!
Perhaps contestant Elijah will parallel that requirement and now that he has arrived,
the second coming of The Price is Right can proceed!!!!

Amen all loyal friends and true!

 Then again, the way things are going,
our Elijah's arrival may precede the second coming of...

Bob Barker, redux!?!

It's really hard for me to review each pricing game on a show like this, especially this being Bob's final show; I'm a little too emotional to think of anything else right now.  So, for only the second time since I came onto this site, I'm going to give this show a perfect grade.

Bob's last show, of course A+! Sad and happy for Bob at the same time, I can not explain it.

Win or lose Phillip, you were definitely one of the most memorable contestants in recent memory on TPiR. Your facial expressions were honest and priceless. I wish you had a better result with Any Number, as others have said you deserved a better result. However, I am sure the actual experience of being Bob's last pricing game contestant made up for some disappointment.

Congrats on making it on!

Fairly good send-off for Bob. My personal favourite touch was Any Number, the first pricing game Bob hosted, was also his last.

The playing of "Any Number" in the last position reminded me of Scripture, too... "the last shall be first, and the first last" which occurs in three of the four Gospels.

Three little quibbles about what was otherwise a fantastic send-off for Bob:

1) (the most obvious) No Bonus Game to go along with Double, Grocery and Any (yes I know Plinko all but had to be played on the final show, but couldn't they bend the "rules" this time and play 2 SP games so we could have all 4 active "First Five" games?)

2) I would've liked to have seen Bob mention the fact that Any Number was his first and last pricing game.

3) In the "Saint" showcase, shouldn't Bob have been mentioned as one? ;-)

I'll first get out with the only thing about this episode that bothered me, and that was the fact that the lineup was not the six oldest pricing games still on the show in reverse order.  Don't see why Roger couldn't have done it.  It would have been so much better to see Bonus Game instead of Plinko.  I am glad that at least, aside from Plinko, every other pricing game was from season one; and if anything, that Any Number was played last.  It would not have been appropriate to play any other pricing game last.

The beginning of the intro with the camera on the TPIR sign at the back of the studio was pretty nifty.  Reminded me of the '86 specials.

Denise was awesome, and her Lucky $even win was just as awesome.  She truly deserved the win.

When was the last time Double Prices was played for a car?  I'm thinking the five thousandth episode, but I have no certanity on that.

I love how Roger loves to make Grocery Game hard, but today of all days, how could you not set it up easy?  Even if you just stuck the 55¢ cookies in the game, that would have at least helped.  That being said, Melba at least tried her hardest.

I'm glad the fear of an Any Number loss didn't keep Roger from playing it last.  Although 'tis a shame that it wasn't won.

Am I the only one who was even a little surprised the neither of the Showcase themes were about Bob even the least bit?  You would have thought today of all days, but apparantly not.

I guess this ends the rumours of everybody in the audience getting cars or there being a million dollar spin.  Thank God neither of those happened.

Well, it's been fun.  Hopefully, we'll be starting up again right away in the fall.

Played the evening tape back this morning.  Did not tape the morning one (forgot).

Can't believe the Barker era is finally over.

I hope the show  continues-just the new host cannot overshadow Bob Barker.  Too many people are like "there were people hosting Wheel before Pat and Vanna" and "there was Jeopardy! before Alex Trebek".

Hosting TPIR is definitely a tough job.  I could handle the pricing game portion but probably would be silent while the wheel spins in the showdowns.

Lucky 7: The Dobster was generous here, and rightfully so, considering the circumstances of the show.  An "All Fives" special starts us off.

Plinko!: Well, this was a given.  Would've liked a better payout, but meh.

Rangey: FRBS ALERT!  Fransisco makes us 2 for 3 in the first half.

Showdown #1: One last $1,000 payout for Denise.

Double Prices: Pretty simple.

Grocery Game: EVIL!  If it weren't for the soap, she might've won this one.

IUFB #6: Phillip's 5-day wait finally pays off!

Any #: How appropriate that the first game played on Bob's first show would be the last game played in the Barker era.  (Assuming of course, they find a replacement in time for Season 36)  Too bad the result wasn't quite as rewarding as that first time.

Showdown #2: WHEELIE!

Showcase #1: Denise already scored a car earlier, so she respectfully passes.  Little did she know what awaited her.

Showcase #2: Well, Denise... looks like you may get a second car after all.  :)

Showcase Reveal: We have a new #2!  Denise falls within $7,000 of Vickyann's mark, set in the season opener.

And, thus, an era comes to an end.  Farewell, Bob.  We'll see ya down the road.

Just guessing on the fact that we've never seen at least four of those before, I'm guessing some companies paid some good money to get their stuff on Bob's last show and Roger really didn't have a choice.  Of course, I could be WAY wrong, but I can't think of any other reason we didn't see the $1.09 sunflower seeds here.

Word on the street (and by 'street', I mean 'Sally') is that this was originally planned and then nixed by Mr. Barker.

I figured that's what must have happened, because I can't see Stan and Adam intentionally not planning and Bob-focused Showcase themes for his final episode.

Like others noted, I loved how the TV for the 1st IUFB showed the opening to the very first episode!  I disagree with people who didn't want to see Plinko.  It's the most exciting and popular game.  I just wish that Bob would have had to use his Plinko stick one last time.

They told us in the audience that Bob wanted this to pretty much be just like any other show.  That being said, there were many gifts and nice touches (like his entry from the very first show), confetti, that made it very classy.  I think they realized that all the LFATs would immediately know that Any Number was his first and last game.

Word is that they wanted to have Bob "themed" final showcases.  Again, he did not want that.  I think just picking "Saint" was another subtle and classy sendoff for Bob.

Bob needs no special mentioning.  We know how special he is!

I wonder, does anyone have a recording of the *entire* first show?

The end of a 35 year era.

What a show.

Lucky Seven:  When I saw 4567, I did not think the last number would be 5.  I was wrong.  I would have guessed zero for the last digit.

Plinko:  I guess it had to be played.  I wish Kristen had won more.  The SPs were a very easy setup.

Range Game:  Francisco won the FRB.

Double Prices:  When I saw the staging, I thought Double Prices might be played.  I saw the Chrysler 300 and thought maybe it is Double Prices, but why play Double Prices for such a fancy car?  Well it's Double Prices.  I said the top price.  The top price was begging to be picked.

Grocery Game:  I guess Roger had to be tough somewhere.  Those products looked hard.  I did even worse than Melva, 1 Snorestop, 4 Dove, $36.95 total.

Any Number:  The last episode ends with the first pricing game ever.  Unfortunately Phil didn't win.  When he said 3, I had a sinking feeling.

Showcases:  Since we did have some Bob themed showcases earlier in the season, I wasn't that disappointed that we didn't have one or two themed Bob showcases today.  When I heard the reasons why Bob didn't want Bob themed showcases today, I understood.  Denise makes a good haul with a nice bid.

I can't believe this is it.  A good show to end Bob's 35 year Price career.

Great use of the aerial camera for Bob's (presumed) final show!

Roger definitely wanted to give cars away today.  Lucky Seven was set up as easy as it has been all season.

I said at the beginning of the season that a speedboat was the most excitement that we were ever gonna get out of Double Prices.  Then Roger goes and plays it for a car on the last show of the season.  Not just any car, but a really nice car.  Nobody was gonna lose that car with the two choices that were given.  $24,041 looked way wrong.

Of course, Roger made up for the easy car wins by making Grocery Game a damn near forced loss.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but none of those five GPs had appeared on the show before.  And I don't think it has ever happened before that two GPs used in the same game both involved the nose.  :-P

My showcase bids:
Lincoln--$62,575
Cadillac--$86,520

Thanks again, Bob, for 35 great years of "The Price Is Right" and 50 great years of game shows in general.

This was a fantastic finale. I was glad to see it go over so well.

Denise was an awesome contestant, and the playing of Lucky $even was quite a nailbiter. I was shocked to see Roger make such an expensive car liable to be won so easily today. I was really off. My guess was $48,219. Off by $17 total. Denise was a loyal friend and true, saying how she had to keep just one, and she did! That was truly an awesome win by her! Good for you.

Too bad Bob's last time for Plinko had such a dud payout. I was pulling for Kristen to hit the $10,000 at least once. She came close, but not close enough. This is the first time I've seen the last digit be the correct one for all 4 small prizes. They were pretty easy though.

Francisco was good also. It seemed like the rangefinder took a while to get where he wanted it to stop, and he pulled it out by a little bit. I would have stopped it around $19,700 as well.

That was a great showcase showdown. First the tie, then Denise gets the $1,000 in the spin-off for gas money, but didn't give it quite enough for her bonus spin. That would have been awesome, an $11,000 winner on his final show.

Dean really deserved that car. First he fell in the aisle after getting called, and then Bob practically teased him to death. I wasn't sure about picking $29,560 but after hearing it was the touring edition, I had a feeling he had picked correctly.

Melba was so great. I felt really bad she had got stuck with an extremely evil setup of Grocery Game. I'm still shocked that the Dial body wash was $5.99! I was thinking 2 of those as well, and I thought $3.99, which would be $7.98 and she would have won by 3 cents. Really, a tragic loss. I didn't know the prices of any of those products.

Phillip was great also. After being outside the studio for 5 days, then having to be called and stuck in the row the entire show, he deserved to earn the chance to be up on stage. He really should have won Any Number as well. I mean 8 just stood out in my mind as the right number, it just fit the price. I knew the 4 and 9 would complete the game collection, and 3 didn't look right. Tough loss. On the plus side, it's great that Any Number was Bob's first game ever explained and his last.

Melba almost hurt herself both spins she took! Her head was extremely close to the wheel on the second spin. I was surprised her hair didn't get caught in it!

Denise was really nice to pass the first showcase to Philip since she already won a car, only to find out that the second showcase had an even nicer car! Either of them deserved to win the showcase. But Denise eeks it out and wins a haul! Congratulations!

Best Contestant- Denise

Showcase #1- $63,000
Difference- $5677

Showcase #2- $90,000
Difference- $761

The good things that stood out: the clip of The New Price is Right on the first item up for bids, Any Number being Bob's first game and his last, the crane used for the MDS.

The bad things: Every game but Plinko was from the first season, Denise ignored Bob, Bob didn't make a long speech at the end (but it was still nice), neither showcase was about Bob (although they did have it on the MDS).

Anyway, thanks a lot Bob for 35 years of great television. Although you are in your own league, I hope the next host of The Price is Right does you proud, and does it as well as you did. Best of luck and health, and best wishes also.

Most games (Grocery Game not included) were set up to be easy (or as easy as possible, as in Plinko's and Any Number's cases...). We got some nice wins, and it was a good show, to say the least.

Fantastic contestants and a great line-up, too. I would have put in Bonus Game instead of Range Game, but, still...

My local NBC station spoiled that Lucky Seven was going to be played, by showing footage, with a car out there. Sure, I was probably the only one to notice, but, hey!  :-)

Thank you, Bob, for 35 great years of TPIR, and 50 years of great, entertaining television!

So...it's over.  Wow.  35 years...6,731 shows...you know, I know Bob's 83 years old, but I still can't quite believe he's gone.

I have to admit I cried during Any Number.  It was really the only way the pricing games could have ended on this episode -- with the first game ever played.  The symbolism of the whole thing just got to me.  It's just such a shame it was lost...

Lucky $even, on the other hand, was awesome.  I don't think Denise quite grasped that they were trying to make the game easy, though -- her guess of 3 for the fourth number could have been disastrous.

I'm still ticked that Plinko got played.  It certainly wasn't worth it, giving away only $1,500...and really, the only small prize games that had any business showing on this episode were Five Price Tags and Bonus Game.

The crane camera was pretty cool.  It's not something I'd like to see used every day, but for a one-time thing, it was neat.  I especially liked the close-up of the right-hand "The Price Is Right" sign that the show opened with.

When Bob's entrance from the first episode was shown on the TV in the first IUFB, did anyone notice that they left in Janice? :)

I was impressed by how close Bob was able to keep this episode to being just another daytime show.  He didn't really say anything about retiring outside of his little "good-bye" while he was signing off after the Showcase.

I wonder why they didn't air the closed-captioning plugs on the primetime replay.

I think Plinko's pretty good, but I hate to see other same-category games like Shell Game, Pathfinder, etc. to be so rarely played just because it has once-a-week priority. I'd like to see Plinko played as often as Half Off and Punch-a-Bunch, and consequently see other games played a bit more often, even if it's just slightly.

Plinko has gained a popularity, for whatever reason, that is above and beyond its merit. It used to have a really cool intro, but they've done away with that and now it feels like random chip-dropping on a weekly basis. I'll admit it's exciting when someone does really well (not like it's their fault when they don't...) but a lot of the time it's just frustrating. I suppose someone could bomb the SPs and then get 10K with the free chip, but it's more likely that you walk away with $500, a popcorn machine, a piña colada maker, a foot spa, and a Salad Shooter.

Now that I read that again, I'm not making much sense. I just described a typical playing of Punch-a-Bunch, and I love seeing that.

I'll put it this way. The very first day I joined this site and came into chat, Plinko was played and I saw the multi-colored shouts of: STINKO!! and then PLUNKO!!!!! when the chip got stuck. I knew I had found my TPIR home. :-D

I actually don't like Plinko anymore either... years ago, I thought it was "cool" because it seemed different from the other games, and I liked the stick Bob used sometimes(whatever happened to that?), but these days it's not fun or really interesting. When I found out it was going to be on the finale(which was obviously a no brainer) I wasn't feeling great about it. Yeah, $10,000 winners are fairly common, but equally as many times there's next to nothing won(and there's really no middle ground). $1,500 only on Bob's final show was really depressing to me. When I go back and watch the highlights, I skip over it.

Oh yeah, and the intro is so lame, plus the audience getting all excited about it, It's very blah.

Just the other day, my dad asked me if Plinko was the most popular game on TPiR, and I told him yes.  However, in my opinion, the "excitement" factor of Plinko went down a couple of notches when they ditched the big sign and the stinger cue from "The Cats"; even without the sign and "The Cats", Plinko will always be a very popular game.

I was the first person to jump up (green polo) when they announced playing of Plinko on the last show.  Plinko is just plain fun, being able to hit more than $10,000 in a single game is always nice.

I also agree that the old intro was fun, but I am guessing that the producers like the crowd reaction in the background shot when making the Plinko annoucement by Rich, and it also decreases the setup time by eliminating the reveal on the turntable -- I agree with that move.

Thet being said, I think they need to do away with the $0 slots.  I would rather they be replaced by $100, or reorganize the slots to go from smallest to $10k in middle.  Having the $0 is just plain mean, especially after earning the chip.  At least give the person at least $100 for getting it right!

But then again, it is the risk of getting zero which also makes the game exciting and fun as the Plinko chip jumps around and over it.

Yes I did see that but I thought it was Anitra. I forgot how dark janice's hair was early on.

Also, after viewing that 1st ep clip again, that original version of the TPiR opening theme took me back.
When was the last time that version was used for the opening, and moreso,
when was the last time it was used regularly or  ever??

Just out of curiousity, is the Plinko sign still in existence? The Superball podiums seemed to hang around 33 long after their retirement, and I'd assume (having read it on the old board at some point) since some production staff was unhappy with the sign retirement that they'd see it keep intact just in case of a direction change...

Yes, but it's sitting in Boden's garage.  :-P

(Yeah, I know... that joke is 8 years old.  But I still think it's funny.  :-P )

Do you know what is the basis of his decision?  I find that more interesting than who. I was offering a couple suggestions (crowd, and less setup/props).

They should do a MTV cribs episode on Boden's garage.  Bonus points if they actually play superball during it.

Well, last week was a sad and great week for two reasons. My brother visited me and my family and it was fun and the final five shows of an american icon.

The beginning with the jib camera was magnificent.

The confetti added a celebratory touch.

Lucky 7: A Great Corvette win to start and I thought that was a Viper being played for in the promos.

Plinko: $1,500 may have not been a huge amount, but it'll do reguardless.

Range: A great boat is offered and won very nicely.

Double: For a car!!! Awesome. Another fine win.

Grocery: Well, I don't know if I should think this was a tough playing or not. Despite that, too bad it was lost.

Any #: The 1st game played with Bob becomes the last and the friggin' piggy bank is won.

Showcases: 2 AWESOME and HUGE showcases offered!!! We seethe 2nd biggest winner in TPIR history and Bob gives us a heartfelt and emotional farewell.

June 15 brought us a great farewell and two more Emmys as well. :-D

Bob Barker: On behalf of millions of your admired fans and me for 25 years of viewing your wonderful work. I say Thank You and we hope you have a wonderful retirement.

God Bless and I'll miss you. :pint:

Regarding my comment about 6,728 episodes:

When I wrote Bob's 6,728th show, I knew there had been 6,731 episodes of TPIR.  However, didn't Bob miss three shows in December 1974?  Therefore, there would be 6,731 TPIR episodes but only 6,728 that Bob hosted.

My review of the last episode I saw in person:

I loved everything about the last episode. I wanted to work it so badly and be inside one last time with Bob. I just wish I could have been working the entire day as well. I remember getting there very early for the afternoon shift. This was one episode I wasn't planning on missing. It was around 7am I got in, and hung out with my fellow co-workers at the Grove a while and watched the news in the lounge to see coverage of the line.

I went outside around 10am to just check to see what the crowd was like, and to my surprise, they were not crazy. This was Bob's last show! Everyone was just sitting on the benches and there was a TV outside, ready to show what was happening inside the studio once they started recording.

Around 11:30 I went outside and saw Henry Winkler "The Fonz" talking to press. I had already seen him twice before, and he loves that the Price Is Right audience requests to sing "Happy Days" all the time. I walked away from the media and set the producer's chairs up for Stan. I killed my fingers. The backs of the chairs are getting so old. I bet they are over 35 years old! They were so tough to slip on for some reason. The fans in line knew me from the Monday show, so I had to act fast and get over to them. It took me about 15 minutes to set the chairs up because the backs wouldn't fit.

From 11:45 to 12:00 I entertained probably numbers 1-20 and 51-70, as they were closest to the interviewer chairs. I think Elijah, who was the last called down, sang Family Matters when I tried to get everyone to do a sing-along. The news was interviewing people further down, probably around number 30 or so, but that didn't stop me from entertaining the most devoted fans who were there for days and several wanted to hear me out there since they knew my videos online.

When Stan came out I watched as everyone interviewed, and I predicted several who got to come on down. I even remember talking to Denise for a minute before she interviewed, when one of my fellow co-workers made me cover for him and send the audience to Stan. She was very happy to be there.

After the interviews I had to go over to the security holding area where the press was filming everyone. I chanted "Bob! Bob! Bob!" as everyone went along with me. The press was smiling. I was so sure they'd use the clips somewhere, but I haven't seen them yet. This was the only time I got to know everyone in line, by cheering with them those few seconds.

Inside the studio all the Pages were dancing and getting the audience to go crazy for the last show. We all held the sign up for the airdate, and I took my place by Rich. I went crazy when he started his announcing and just kept jumping up and down before Bob came out. The confetti was a surprise, but I had previosuly thought about it happening days before. We all chanted "Bob! Bob! Bob!" right into when Rich announced the TV up for bids. Then the audience's applause died out around 20 seconds into the description, but it was the longest applause for Bob I've ever seen in person.

I gave Bob a letter that someone wanted to give him as a gift, Bob called me a young gentleman for the last time, when someone wanted autographs of him, and I recall Rich telling me to stay glued to the stage because my head kept getting in the shots. I think it was because I was so jumpy so that the audience could follow me. Of course, I don't move around like Jeff onstage, but because I was so jumpy in one spot, the camera kept getting my head a lot in shots.

After the first showcase showdown, a fellow co-worker wanted to switch with me and go by Rich and I'd take his spot in the back. I was a bit disappointed, as nobody was really clapping for the 2nd half of the show in the front of the studio. Everyone wanted me up there, so I clapped like crazy in the back, especially when Dean got called down. That made it on TV. However, he fell and curled up. Everyone in the back was shocked, and I grabbed onto the railing, afraid he was really hurt. I was thinking we had to call the EMT.

I switched back to my position during the 2nd showcase showdown, and stayed there until the end of the show. I was surprised I didn't cry. A lot of fans weren't teary. I thought they'd all be very sad. Everyone overall handled Bob's last episode pretty well, the crew onstage were pretty sad though, since they worked with Bob for so many years. Of course when I left I was sad, and that morning I was as well.

The only thing I didn't like about the last episode was The Grocery Game. I really wanted to see Hole In One played for the very last time on the show. I think they played it on the Monday show that week, and I was upset because I knew they weren't gonna have it on the last episode since it already was on that week. But I kept thinking "Maybe for the last episode they will make an acception." I was wrong. The Grocery game even broke down. It's too bad they didn't give Melva the trailer. Usually in the past, Bob gave away prizes if games didn't work, but they fixed it in a few minutes time. It would have made me feel better about Grocery Game had they included the malfunction on the air and Bob offering her the prize. The last episode had a little of everything that has happened over the years (falls, laughs, et.) but the malfunction being included and the offering of the prize would have reflected how Bob did that several times over the past 35 years.

After the show I drew the door prize! Rich knows me by name now, and that was it. I went outside and consoled a fellow fan/friend who was sad, and congratulated Denise on being the final person to win the showcase with Bob Barker as host on The Price Is Right. She hugged me and then I left for the day with my fellow co-workers.

Games:

Lucky 7: Easy win! All the numbers were so close to 5. Almost every contestant chooses a few 5's here and there, especially for the last 3 numbers of the car. I was glad they played it. It is probably one of the most played car games aside from Money Game, which I really was hoping was not part of the last episode. I was glad Denise won the car.

Plinko: If they had used any other cash game it would have not worked. For Bob's last episode they needed to use the most popular cash game on the show. Even though 1,500 was all the woman won, it was better than getting all 0's.

Range Game: At first I didn't like the idea of them playing it on the last episode, then I remembered Bob's line about once you stop it they can't start it for 37 hours. That made me feel better about them playing it. I was happy for Francisco when he won the boat.

Showcase Showdown 1: I knew 2 of the 3 from the line. I didn't talk to Francisco until after the show, but when he interviewed he was memorable with his ty-dye shirt. Denise I knew before she interviewed. I was happy when she got a $1.00 on the wheel. It's too bad she didn't get another.

Double Prices: Wow! Immidiately after taking his tumble, Dean wins a car! Double Prices is not the most exciting game, but I know a lot of fans wanted to see it, as it was one of Bob's first 3 games ever played on the show.

Grocery Game: This was the worst part of the entire episode. Bob should have given Melva the trailer and they should have included the malfunction on TV. It would have made the episode a lot more memorable.

Any Number: Well, it was a chance, that's all it was. I was rooting for Philip to win the car so badly. That would have also made the last episode memorable. I bet Bob would have said "You waited in line for 5 days and you won a car!"

Showcase Showdown 2: It couldn't have gone any better than it did. Dean pulled his socks up, Melva took a little fall (too bad she didn't take her shoes off...several women in the past have done so when they spun), and Philip made it to the final showcase round!

Showcases: Two of my favorite contestants of the day in the showcase. The prizes were awesome, and both Philip and Denise were close in their bids without going over or under that much. These were tricky to price, as they were more than the normal showcases.

Overall rating for the episode: It's in the 9's. The Grocery Game really threw things off for me.

Grocery Game breaks down about once a season... if a game is still playable in spite of a prop malfunction (especially if the prop malfunction can be fixed fairly quickly), then the game should still be played out legitimately. Even if the cash register couldn't be fixed, there's nothing stopping Bob from simply saying, "You've spent $12.99; you're $8.01 away from $21.00." Giving away the prize by default should happen very, very rarely.

I think the audience would have continued to chant "BOB! BOB! BOB!" for a good minute or two more if Bob hadn't cued the reveal of the first item up for bids. They had barely stopped by the time bidding began.

As best as I can tell, it is not a violation of Program Practices regulations if I stand backstage and simply think the correct answer very intently. So during Any Number, I was standing there, not making any external indication of it, but trying to beam the message "EIGHT EIGHT EIGHT EIGHT EIGHT" as hard as I could toward the turntable. Unfortunately, my psychic powers apparently have not been honed yet.

I personally loved this episode. Although I didn't want it to end b/c I knew what was going to happen after Bob did his pet population plug. I'm certainly very pleased that they played Any Number on Bob's last show, it only seems appropriate. I do, however, wish that there would have been a little more light shed on the fact that it was indeed Bob Barker's last episode of TPiR. Maybe signs or something around the studio that said "thanks Bob" or "Happy Retirement". Something like the season premiere episodes. I especially think someone from CBS (Les Moonves) or Freemantle (Syd) should have made an appearance and thanked Bob for 35 years of hosting. Simply because of the excitement of the show, and the anticipation for it to arrive, Bob's Final Show is one of my fav. TPiR episodes ever, although it was really sad in the end.

I know this is VERY late to post a review/reponse to a show that aired last season, but I've decided as of late to become ALOT more involved in G-R.net forums.

I think Bob wanted his final show to be just like any other TPIR. TPIR has always been a "happy show", and dwelling on what would be his last moments on the show would've made the finale more maudlin. I think if the cash register in Grocery Game was deemed unrepairable, they probably would've had her do another pricing game on the turntable to make the editing more smooth (with the same prize)

Bob did his usual thing to keep the audience up, and there were only a few moments where audience members expressed sadness that Bob was leaving. One lady asked Bob "Do you still love us?" Bob said "Let me tell you something, EVERYBODY here loves you" While Bob was busy with the producers after the showcase bids, an audience member wanted to tell Bob that she'd miss him, but Bob was too preoccupied, and it was hard enough that the audience was chanting "ONE MORE YEAR".

I am glad that they now have a host that isn't also the executive producer. I think making Bob the executive producer was a mistake, and certainly Bob wouldn't have had all the legal problems he had.

This by far had to be the best finale of any season for Bob Barker & also ending his time after 50 years

You're right. I was only 9 years old, but I knew how special he was and that was sad, even for my young-self, to see him retire and give out his final sign-off. You didn't have to be real old to know how special "Bob Barker" was, if you watched "The Price Is Right".
