It's back by popular demand...The only day it's legal to think you're in Monty Hall's presence (sort of):
CBS.com (http://www.cbs.com/daytime/the_price_is_right/tickets): "Hey Ghosts and Goblins! “The Price Is Right” is taping a special Halloween show on Wednesday, July 29 at 4:00pm!"
OK, let's put out a challenge. Pick a Pricer and give them their costume. Keep it clean, please.
I'll start. Assuming she's back for the occasion: Brandi as Sarah Palin, anyone?
Go from there...
-
Drew Carey as Col. Sanders.
-
That makes absolutely no sense to tape this episode 3 months early.
-
Well, I can say that I, who has had some modicum of tolerance for all the antics of Season 37, am skeptical about this. One interesting thing that was brought up in Roger's Shokus interview was how the Groucho Marx glasses on the April 1, 2009 show, the host put it, "covered up people's faces, so we couldn't see who they really were." Wearing costumes is taking it to the next level.
Also, the lines of decency may be crossed with this one, if they are not careful, but I think they have enough sense to not allow those with rather risque costumes to enter the studio or ask that they try something more appropriate.
I won't comment on it until I see the show, but I do hope that it won't be a trainwreck.
Oh, it stinks that our friend, the Italian Chef will not be in this one as well...

"But hold on all you costume connoisseurs . . . we’ll want to see your faces, and you’ll want to be able to fit in your seat and COME ON DOWN easily, so no masks, huge hats, big headpieces or anything that restricts your movement or vision."
So it sounds like they're keeping a strict rulebook for costumes. We'll see what happens...I was actually wondering if they would ever try this.
-
I'm honestly surprised they didn't do that for Halloween, 2008, what with Roger gone and all. I do like that they are keeping a limit on what kind of costumes the audience members can wear.
I still can't wait for the set decor, what Drew will be this year, and some Halloween Drewcases.

Last season's was taped August 20 - 10 weeks ahead, but then they didn't start taping Price Season 37 until the end of last July.
It's just how it is.
-
Drew could dress up as Michael Moore.
Brandi (if she's back) would be awesome as Sarah Palin.
Rachel could be Heidi Klum. She's always reminded me of Heidi Klum.
Lanisha could be Beyonce?
As for Amber and Gwendolyn, I have no idea.
Rich could be Superman or something. Oh oh oh...better yet...Captain Klutz Jr.
-
Personally, I'd like to see Drew and Rich dressup as Captain Kirk (Drew) and Mr. Spock (Rich).
-
I'd be interested in seeing the models as cavewomen.
-

Lieutenant Colonel Butterfingers?

True. In most of the seasons Christmas Week was taped in October.

O.K. Maybe it'll work as long as Drew Carey plays Fred Flintstone and Rich Fields plays Barney Rubble and perhaps use some of the sound effects from "The Flintstones".
-
... perhaps use some of the sound effects from "The Flintstones".
Yeah, but only if they bring Super Ball!! back for a day, with the "bowling" sound effect (LOOK IT UP!).
-
Lots of production companies have the Hanna-Barbera sound effects CD, so it's possible.
How about Drew and Rich as Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton?

Even I have that CD! ;)
Those are all good suggestions, but since it's a Halloween theme, they should dressup in scary/sinister fashion. The "murdered bride" Brandi 2 years ago was priceless!
-
This should be an interesting show. Hopefully better than last year.
-
They had better not change the chyron colors. Keep with the white/yellow/orange/red combo, not throbbing grey/orange like last year.
-
I for one think its a great idea. Having the audience dress up too will make them feel like they are more a part of the on-stage antics and party atmosphere. I am excited to hear this news. And so far you guys have some up with some GREAT ideas for Drew and Rich, .... my favorite being "Kirk & Spock" ! Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble is a good second, although I think Drew is more of a Barney look alike, with Rich more resembling Fred! ha Whatever they come up with, I think it will be an amazing show.
-
You know, having the audience dress up in costume, even for this one show, is reminding me too much of Let's Make A Deal, where they did that all the time.

It's Halloween! HALLOWEEN!

You *do* know that this is a one-time deal, right? Hence the "Halloween" title and not the "Let's Make a Deal" title?
-
How about Rich Fields as Rod Roddy?

Yes, I do know that.

Sounds cool. But I think Rich would dress up as Johnny Olson before Rod Roddy.

So...like...he puts on...glasses?
-
Yes, I do know that.
Then please explain your thoughts of why a one-time-only Halloween show is too much like LMaD.

Because I feel that what could happen eventually is that the staff will be having audience members dress up in costume all the time, and then the next thing you know, it's LMAD 2.0

Yes, let's all speculate and worry ourselves to death about this potential move. We can't let this happen!
-
They seem to be taping everything unusually early this year. I wonder if they are going to have the whole season in the can by Thanksgiving?

Highly doubtful

From a logic standpoint, you do know how silly that is when THERE'S ALREADY A LMaD PILOT SHOOTING?
Please put things together and remember that last year they did a Halloween episode. Can you tell us what happened on the next show with the costumes and all?

If I do recall, after the Halloween show last year, everything was back to normal again. Therefore, there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

They start taping early every season. This allows them to take weeks off from taping and cancel tapings when things come up. By the end of the season, they'll proabably be taping stuff just a week or so in advance, if past experience is any sort of indicator.
-
Thank you for clarifying what the reruns were and why. I was very confused when watching. Very unusual for this to occur.
-
Drew Carey as BArney Rubble hahahahahahaha. thats funny. I dont really care what Rich Fields dresses as becuase i think hes on t.v. too much now anyway
