VTR: 8-15-22
This pretty much has a Top Ten feel for me.  There are so many to choose from.  To be brief, I'll go with Pick A Pair's original set.  There was something special about it at the time.  It seemed rather huge, and I guess it had a feeling that you were in line to go onto an amusement park ride.  Loved the primary colors to the game.  The update was okay, but I adored that set.

Plinko's original colors were so sweet.  That was added to the concept of going up those stairs with several chips prior to one's chance at winning a lot of money.  That was so awesome back in the day!

Honorable mention to the Money Game.  Yeah I've sounded like the "Loved things the old way" guy, but I think the original board was nice, especially when they moved it to the turntable shortly before they updated the turntable.  It was a unique mix.  The update is fine, but that original board was rather underrated.  Just the wide version of those hexagon turntable games was tremendous (at the time)
I've gotta go Safe Crackers here. Having your prize locked behind the safe and having to free it with the code, pulling the giant door - love it. Though I do remember thinking as a kid, "Wait, don't close the door after showing the prize! It's already open, let them have it!"

If you didn't know the Coming or Going tendency, that setup was really hard. And I even questioned going against the tendency at the time. $6k for a 6-night trip to Thailand seemed very low.

For whatever reason, I fall to Poker Game.

Old school everything, only a couple tweaks over the decades; the off-kilter Sports Type displays to resemble a hand of cards, the Joker mascot, consistent use of the Big Banana Remix, always in slot #4 followed by the midshow bumper, and the fact I think Bob secretly liked this game.

I was sad to see it go.  But they would have trashed the nostalgia of it in the modern era anyway.

I'm not crazy about the graphic and music in Plinko.  I get what they were going for, but it really disrupts the rhythm of the game.

I like the graphic for the $10,000 in Plinko (even if it appears more than once), though it would've been fine without a music cue.

That rebound in Hole in One had me thinking the ball was going to fly over the hole on the way back, but we're spared this time. Nice win!

I thought we'd be in trouble during the second Showcase Showdown with Tanya's "perfect rotation" spins. :oldlol:

I was a little surprised Hole in One...or Two was won "on the rebound" after the ball caught the lip of the hole the first time. Originally, the hole was in the center of the "green circle," and I assume that was done on purpose to prevent most rebound wins; a "true" reflection along the circumference of a circle will never go through the center unless it came from the center in the first place. A few years ago, it was moved slightly forward, but this would make it less likely that a ball that was deflected by the hole itself would go in.

I think a graphic is fine as they've clearly made an effort to standardize the big cash win graphic font/style (see Seat, Rent) but you cannot use the iconic Dig We Must music there. It doesn't really need music, but if you must, find something else.
