Title: Teddy's TPIR, Episode 10 (MDS 4)
Post by: Teddy on August 02, 2012, 08:38:17 AM
Well, this is it, the 10th show of my HYO series! It's an event four years in the making, and I'm so excited to start it up that I can't even explain. This is also my fourth MDS, so expect a million-dollar chance somewhere. And, to borrow a page from former HYO host Fireball, I will look back on my ten favorite moments from the first nine episodes of this series, and who knows, you or somebody you know might get a mention there.

Sign-ups are now going on for this show. Remember that you will have a 48-hour time limit on everything, and also the "3 strikes" rule. Hopefully, I can start the show by Monday, if not the weekend. So who's going to help me celebrate my 10th show?

(at the ticket booth) What do you mean there are no more tickets?!

But oh, what may this be? (walks into booth through side door, grabbing a large spool of tickets at the back) Oh, look, tickets for this particular show and this particular episode. Why were these not at the ready and forefront?

Never mind; it does not matter, and I do not particularly care.

(tears one off gently, walks out side door, puts spool at front of ticket booth, and walks toward studio entrance)

(wild cheers and applause)

Hey thanks, everybody! Isn't that a great welcome to this show? Well, welcome to The Price is Right $1,000,000 Spectacular, and as you all know, this is my tenth episode in this series, so we just had to do something big. We will have a few chances to win a million dollars, as well as take a look back at the first nine episodes I have done over the past four years. Right now, let's see the first prize up for bids tonight on The Price is Right $1,000,000 Spectacular.

GEORGE: It's a desktop PC. (Bhen IUFB Cue) (Rachel models it) (applause) This Dell desktop has a crystal-clear HD monitor, as well as touch-screen capabilities, a superfast 64GB processor, stereo speakers, and a wireless mouse.

Thanks, Rachel! And that desktop will go to the one of you four who bids nearest to the actual retail price without going over.

BIDDING ORDER: pathfinder20, wpghi5, Flerbert419, Cyclone

We're going to start with you, pathfinder20. What's your bid?

Very well then, all the bids are locked in, and the actual retail price of that desktop is: $2,895! wpghi5 wins!

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!

(Walking 2007)

(cheers and applause)

Welcome to the stage, wpghi5! I have some prizes to show you, which happen to be hidden behind this curtain. George, what do we have?

GEORGE: Three wonderful trips to New York, Washington and Atlanta! (1/2 Off Cue) (Rachel models New York, Amber models Washington and Gwendolyn models Atlanta) (cheers and applause) First, you and a guest will fly round-trip coach from Los Angeles to New York City for a six-night stay at the Manhattan Grand Hotel. Includes daily continental breakfast, and it's within easy distance of Broadway, Central Park, the Empire State Building, and many of the Big Apple's other fine attractions! Second, you and a guest will fly round-trip coach from Los Angeles to Washington, DC, where you'll have a six-night stay at the Congressional Grand Hotel. Within easy distance of the National Zoo, the White House, the Smithsonian Museums and other fine attractions in the nation's capital; continental breakfast included. And finally, you and a guest will fly round-trip coach from Los Angeles to Atlanta for a six-night stay at the Southern Grand Hotel. Located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, and within easy walking distance of Atlanta's finest attractions, and we've included a rental car and a pass to Six Flags Over Georgia. And there they are, Teddy!

Thanks, ladies! Now wpghi5, you are going to play a challenging but fun game called Buy or Sell.

$5810
NEW YORK

$4910
WASHINGTON

$3110
ATLANTA

Now, you see these prices? None of them are correct. They're either over or under the actual retail price. What I want you to do is buy the trips that are underpriced, and sell the ones that are overpriced. You do this successfully, and you win all three trips, plus any money you've accumulated when the game ends. Look over each price carefully, and then tell me which ones you're going to buy and sell.

Teddy, you should really think about editing your pictures before you post them.  I find that anything wider than 800 pixels or so is just too big.

Stupid screwup!  This is what the green display should've read, and I sincerely apologize. Touchscreens are very expensive, and they can increase the value of a PC by at least $1,000 or more.

sideshowPA is exactly right, I should've asked someone how to size their graphics to fit the computer screen. Maybe after the show, goldroadfanatic could help out here, because he has way more experience in this area than I do. Again, my apologies.

Anyway, wpghi5 still has plenty of time to give me his guesses.

Copy/paste the image into an image editing program, resize to 800px wide, save, upload to Imgur.

Alternately, simply type "width=800" in the tag for an image, like this:

[ img width=800]URL of image[ /img] (remove the spaces)

The first method is preferred (since the second still causes the image to load full-size, the forum software merely resizes it), but either way works.

You've won all three trips and $1,900 in cash! Congratulations, and we'll see you at the Big Wheel later on. Now, I'm presenting to you moment #10, as we celebrate my tenth show. It was from my debut episode, and I was planning to give away a Cadillac in Golden Road, but something went terribly wrong. Take a look and find out why.

Quote
(Episode 1: Golden Road Wipeout)

Now, there are three numbers in the price of the camcorder, and as you can see, the last two numbers are 9 and 5. Is the first number a 7 or a 5?

TRIVIA TRAP: Its a 5.

All right, if I lift the cover off and it is a 5, we move on to New York. Are we going there?

BUZZ!/Losing Horns

Damn it! This is not the way I wanted my first show to begin. I wanted us to get to the car at least, and the game ends here!

AUDIENCE: Awww!

I'm so sorry, buddy, it was a 7. But hopefully, the wheel will make up for your unfortunate wipeout, and you did win a moped. We'll try to find a winner after this!

We'll have another game, and more memories, after this.

GEORGE: Yes, we do, Teddy. It's a new car! (The Big Banana) (Rachel models it) (cheers and applause) It's a 2012 Chrysler 300C, the luxury sedan with attitude. Comes with standard features, 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with 8-speed automatic transmission, AM/FM stereo with 12-disc CD changer and SiriusXM satellite radio, cargo net, leather seating and engine block heater. This is the Chrysler 300C!

Thanks, Rachel! Now, pathfinder20, in order to win this car, you will have to complete the price by playing Shot in the Dark. Now, I will show you the first number in the price of the car. It is...

$3----

...3. And I will tell you that there are no repeating numbers in the price. I will give you four chances to tell me the price of the car. You give out numbers that you believe are also in the price, and then we'll see if they appear or not. You do not need to tell me the numbers in order of appearance, just the four right numbers themselves. Now what number would you like to see first?

...and $4496 from Cyclone.

4496

Actual retail price is: Wow, would you believe this? It's $6,750. Cyclone, you win!

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!

(Walking 2007)

(cheers and applause)

Right up here you are, where the next game awaits. George, what is Cyclone trying to win right now?

GEORGE: A deluxe sailboat. (Amen, Brother Herbert) (Gwendolyn models it) (applause) From the Chesapeake Boat Company, this sailboat is lightweight and is built with a sturdy frame to withstand damage from hurricanes. It's a terrific prize worth $10,475!

Now Cyclone, you're going to play the Shell Game. I will mix these shells up, and as I'm doing so, I'm going to tell you that there's a ball inside one of these shells. I don't know where it is, you don't know where it is, and I don't think the people who set up this game know where it is. But I will give you a chance to win up to four small prizes and four chips to place in front of the shells. If you mark the shell that has the ball, you win that sailboat. And to sweeten the deal, if you get all four chips and then tell me where the ball is, you will win one...million...dollars!

(Million-Dollar Game reveal stinger)

("$1,000,000" spins on screen)

(cheers and applause)

That's all you have to do, win all four small prizes and then tell me the correct location of the ball. First, let's focus on earning some chips, starting with what, George?

(The Cats SP variant)

GEORGE: Prepare burgers, hot dogs, barbecue chicken and other tasty summer cookout foods with this portable version of the classic Weber charcoal grill.

Now show us the wrong price. It is...

$25

...$25. Is the actual retail price higher or lower than $25?

...and you're right! (applause) So you get a chip to put in front of one of the shells (a number from 1 to 4, please). Let's hear about the next prize, George.

(Cue 14)

GEORGE: You can carry hundreds of your favorite songs on this MP3 player. It has a 1-GB hard drive, which allows you to save as many playlists as you want.

It's not an iPod and it's only 1 GB, so lower.

Oh, and chip at #3, and if this one is right, slot as #2.  (I'll give where to put won chips for show continuity since that's usually done before the next prize in the real thing.)

Wow, I don't recall seeing any that expensive...but then, I usually don't shop for ice cream makers. :D

Those cubes are something like $10-$20, so I'll say lower.

Final chip choice will be 4 if applicable.  I really think it's in the middle two however.

$25

...and you are right! (applause) So far, you have a chip by the last three. I'm going to start with the first shell, the only one that has not been marked. If that has the ball, you lose. (lifts up shell, but reveals no ball)

BUZZ!

(applause)

Now this means you've won, but which one is it? You know what, I'll continue on down the line to the second shell. If the ball is there, you win. (lifts up shell, and finds ball)

You got it! You may have lost out on the million dollars, but you have a beautiful boat, and you'll be back to spin the Wheel. Now, we're up to Moment #8. This is a Bonkers win on the first try from Episode 4, which was also my second $1,000,000 Spectacular, and it includes a crazy moment as well. Let's have a look.

Quote

88JRFAN: (comes up to wpghi and congratulates him with low 5. wpghi hits JR's low 5 and JR smacks wpghi in the back of his head)

WPGHI5: Ow!  For some reason I can handle this despite getting that. Anyways my first guess is LHHH.

OK, come on back and hit that button!

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!

(TPIR Theme 2007)

(cheers and applause)

And it's all over, just like that! Congratulations, you're going to Atlanta! What was the price of that trip? $3,975. We're really hot tonight, and we will have our final pricing game ready to go, after these words.

Showcase Showdown #1 after this.

Welcome back to The Price is Right $1,000,000 Spectacular! I have pathfinder20, Cyclone and wpghi5 ready to spin the Big Wheel. Get a dollar in one pin or a combination of two spins, we will give you $5,000 and a Bonus Spin. In the Bonus Spin, if you get one of the two green sections, you will win $25,000, but hit the dollar, and you win $50,000 more, for a total of $55,000! (cheers and applause) And the one of you three who's nearest to a dollar without going over will be in the Showcase.

SPINNING ORDER:
pathfinder20: $5,840
Cyclone: $17,389
wpghi5: $17,825

Each of you will give me two numbers from 1 to 20, and your minimum stopping score. Good luck to all of you!

OK, it looks like we're ready to spin the wheel. pathfinder20, start us off!

(wheel beeps)

Around and around it goes, and it looks like...Hey look at this! You might get a dollar...

5

(audience groans)

OHHH! I thought you had it. I know for sure you'd like to spin again. Well, go ahead.

(wheel beeps)

Now the only way to go over would be if you got the dollar. We're looking for something good, though, and it looks like you will get...

60

...60 cents, for a total of 65.

.65

DING!

And now Cyclone will spin the Wheel.

(wheel beeps)

Let's see what you're going to get in your first spin. There's that dollar again, will it get there this time? Will it get there? IT DID!

100

1.00

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!

(Dig We Must 2007)

(cheers and applause)

Cyclone got a dollar, and he will get his Bonus Spin in a moment, but first, wpghi5 will try to tie him.

(wheel beeps)

I hope we get another dollar here. Could it be another dollar? Could it be another dollar? NO!

15

(audience groans)

Lots of close calls going on here, and you got 15 cents. Spin it again, and try for 85 cents.

(wheel beeps)

Now this could get interesting. Will it stop on 85? Here it comes, stop right there...YOU GOT IT!

85

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING!

(Dig We Must 2007)

(cheers and applause)

wpghi5 got a dollar, Cyclone got a dollar, and as a result, they each win $5,000. (resets wheel to 5-cent space) Now, in addition to the Bonus Spin, this is going to be a spin-off to determine who goes to the Showcase. The better score wins, but keep in mind that you could win even more money as well. Now, both of you will submit one number from 1 to 20, and good luck!

.15

CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG!

(Dig We Must 2007)

(cheers and applause)

...$25,000 more for you, that is! (resets wheel to 5-cent space) And now, wpghi5 will get his Bonus Spin to see if he can beat 15 cents.

(wheel beeps)

Now this could get interesting again. This could get interesting again...YOU GOT THE DOLLAR AGAIN!

100

CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-WHOOP-WHOOP-WHOOP!

(Dig We Must 2007)

(wild cheers and applause)

You win $50,000 more, and you're going to the Showcase. Congratulations! Now, as you may recall, there was a missed opportunity to win a million dollars earlier in the Shell Game, but this one is by far the most agonizing one I've seen in my ten shows as host. This is from Episode 7, when we played Let em Roll for the million dollars. Watch what happens.

Quote
(Episode 7: Million-Dollar Epic Fail)

This first roll will be for a million dollars. All you need is five cars right now, and you get the million bucks. Now, Rachel will give you this bucket. Give it a little shake, dump out the cubes, and let em roll!

DING-DING-DING-DING!

(audience groans)

OH! OH! OHHHH!!! As Bob Barker once said, how close can you get??? Now, I want to show...I want to show you something, ladies and gentlemen. There are four cars on the table, just one short of the million. However, in addition to those four cars, you also have $1,000. You just missed out on the chance to win the million bucks, but you still have two more rolls left, and you do have the option to stop and take the money. I'll bet you want to use another roll now, don't you?

(Dig We Must 2007)

Needless to say, the car wasn't won in either of the last two rolls. We'll have more pricing games, and another million-dollar opportunity later on in the show. We'll be back after this.

Daily continental breakfast included. And we're throwing in $10,000 in cash to spend while you're there, making this a terrific prize worth $21,695!

Thanks, Amber! Now we're playing a fairly easy game called Pick-a-Pair. There are six grocery products you'll have to contend with, grouped into three different pairs, each having the same price. That means we have one pair priced the same, another pair priced the same, and a third pair priced the same. You pick one of the pairs, you're on your way to Paris! You say the potato chips are also $1.99. Are they?

99˘

BUZZ!

No, they're 99˘. But the good news is, you get another shot at this. Now, you can keep either the $1.99 or 99˘ and then try to find the product with that price. So which price are you going to keep, and what's your next choice?

Very well then, let's get rid of the pasta sauce. Now the lip balm has to be 99˘ in order to win. What is that price?

$1.99

BUZZ!/Losing Horns

$1.99. If you had kept the pasta sauce, you would've won. Which one was also 99˘? It was the Tastykake. Well, thanks for playing anyway, and we'll see you at the Wheel.

(applause)

GEORGE: That's exactly right, Teddy. First, we have an iron and some luggage. (Sam) (Gwendolyn models them) (applause) First, this iron is energy-efficient, so you won't have to waste your time making your clothes look neat. Includes automatic shut-off timer. Second, transport around your personal items with ease using this attractive set of luggage on wheels. And finally, I'll bet you'd like...this new SUV! (Truck/Van Cue) (Rachel models it) (cheers and applause)

Thanks, Gwendolyn and Rachel! Now, RCPlanes59, you're going to play a fun game called 10 Chances, which is exactly what you have to win all three prizes! First up is the iron. There are two numbers in the price of the iron.

Now I present to you Moment #4. This one is from Episode 9, when GuyWithFace played Hole in One. Good thing the game allows two putts, because otherwise he wouldn't have won the car. Let's watch him beat those odds again.

GuyWithFace will spin the wheel first.

(wheel beeps)

Contestant nearest to a dollar without going over will be in the Showcase, and GuyWithFace, your first spin is going to be worth...Could it be a dollar again? Go on...GO ON...

5

(audience groans)

OH!!! We've been having lots of close calls here tonight, especially at the wheel. I know for sure you'd like to spin again? Well, go for it.

(wheel beeps)

If you can get 95 cents, you'll have a dollar. There it goes. And I don't think it'll come back again, but you do have...

25

...a quarter, for a total of 30 cents.

.30

DING!

Now it's RCPlanes59's turn to spin.

(wheel beeps)

Around and around it goes, and it's going to come to a stop on...

30

...30 cents. Now that ties GuyWithFace, but Flerbert419 is still waiting his turn to spin. I believe you will spin again. Sure, why not?

(wheel beeps)

Now we're looking for 70 or less. 70 or less, and it looks like you are going to get...oh, not 80! Get off that 80!

80

MRRRRRRRRP!

You are over by a dime, and I'm sorry, but I hope you had fun tonight. Now Flerbert419 will spin.

(wheel beeps)

Flerbert419 is trying to beat 30 cents, and I believe he will, with 75 cents.

75

And you don't want to spin anymore, do you? No, he says that's it. See you in the Showcase, Flerbert419.

.75

(TPIR Theme 2007)

And we will be back to reveal the Showcase winner shortly. But first, we're going to show you Moment #2. Lots of people tell me that it's hard to win just one car, but imagine trying to win three! And that's exactly what happened at the beginning of Episode 3, which was also our salute to the great Bob Barker. Let's take a look.

Quote
(Episode 3: Completing a Triple Play)

If you can tell me one more time which price is nearest to the actual retail price without going over, you will win all three cars, and get this show off to a hot start! For the win, is it $32,585, $34,850, $38,975 or $40,460?

PATHFINDER20: I am going to go $34,850.

All righty, this is the moment of truth. If we see a "Yes" here, you will win Car #1, Car #2, and Car #3. Now, I'm going to pull this back slowly and hope for the best. Is pathfinder20...going to win all three cars...on our special show...saluting Bob Barker? Let's see!

CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-WHOOP-WHOOP-WHOOP!

(wild cheers and applause)

(TPIR Theme 2007)

You did it! You won all three cars! Here's the proof there.

(reveals car's price as $35,480)

Congratulations, pathfinder20! Drive safely.

Hey, welcome back to my tenth show, where hopefully someone will win their Showcase tonight! And remember that if you're within $1,000 of your Showcase, you will win both Showcases and a million bucks! (cheers and applause) OK, it's time to find out who won. wpghi5, we're going to start with you. You had the swimsuits, trips to Hawaii and Jamaica, a Chevy Camaro and a Dodge Challenger. Your bid was $82,000, and the actual retail price is: (low, sad voice) $66,280.

MRRRRRRRRP!

You are over, and I'm so sorry. Now Flerbert419, if you do not go over, you will win your Showcase. You had the satellite radio tuner, trips to Seattle, New Orleans and Miami and a Cadillac XTS; you bid $77,777. Actual retail price: (low, sad voice) $61,348.

FLERBERT419

MRRRRRRRRP!/Losing Horns

You're over as well. Wow, we picked a hell of a time to have the first Double-Overbid in this series! (audience groans) But I hope you both had fun anyway, and we'll see you again soon.

(applause)

Now, on a much happier note, it's time to present Moment #1. From Episode 9, it features an ending you have to see to believe. This Punch-a-Bunch win will forever go down in history as the greatest pricing game win ever. Here it is.

Quote
(Episode 9: The Greatest Pricing Game Win Ever!)

On we go to the next hole, right down in the corner. Now, you passed on $250, and you passed on $1,000, and I've just found out that you have won...Oh, man! I can't believe this. I can't believe it at all. You know, there has never been a $25,000 winner in this game. Very few people have been lucky enough to punch out the hole with $10,000 inside, but not $25,000. And also, I'd like to point out that contestants who come up on stage and play a pricing game would usually have to wait their turn at the Big Wheel for a shot at the $25,000...but you won't have to wait for that, because YOU ALREADY GOT THE BIG ONE!

CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-WHOOP-WHOOP-WHOOP!

(wild cheers and applause)

(TPIR Theme 2007)

Congratulations, wpghi5! You have just won 25 grand in Punch-a-Bunch! There you go, now get out of here.

(cheers and applause)

(TPIR Theme 2007)

Well, here's to ten more shows! Thanks for watching, and I want to remind you to help control the pet population and have your pets spayed or neutered, because it's the right thing to do. See you next time on the daytime Price is Right. Good night, everybody!

(end credits roll)

(random staff member rolls out large cake with the number 10 on top)

GEORGE: This is George Gray speaking for The Price is Right, a FremantleMedia production!

wpghi5: $72,825
Cyclone: $47,389
pathfinder20: $5,840
Flerbert419: $3,500
RCPlanes59: $2,550

OMG I'm moment #1!  :-D It's still feels great to be the first contestant on your show Teddy to win $25K on Punch-A-Bunch!  It's too bad that both me and Flerbert both went over in our respective Showcases on your monumental 10th show Teddy. But hey I'm sure we both had fun.  Congrats on your 10th show Teddy!
