Title: The Higgins Edition of Price is Right [Episode 5]
Post by: William on May 18, 2013, 02:22:27 AM
(http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad228/Austin7298/ComeonDown-2_zps397d2a33.png) (http://s938.photobucket.com/user/Austin7298/media/ComeonDown-2_zps397d2a33.png.html)

Yes sir! Show #5 and we're crankin' up the stakes!

This will be played like the 2008 MDSs except the stakes in the Showcase Showdown will be higher and the DSW range for the $1,000,000 will be $250 (but it's $500 when I do the daytime version).

48 Hours to sign up, minimum of 11 people.

Anyone who signs up and is the first to answer this question correctly will be guaranteed to be in the first four:

What is my favorite Pricing Game?

But this is not a complete shot in the dark because I've hinted at it in one of my previous shows (but I won't say whether or not I've played it in one of my shows).

Have a good time!  :-D

Shot in the Dark.

Shot In The Dark.

Shot In The Dark.

I had a feeling I'd get at least one guess for Shot in the Dark based on my wording, but the answer is Bonus Game. I figured of all people, nowhammies11 would have guessed it because he was the one that played it when I hinted at it two years ago during my second show.  (http://www.golden-road.net/index.php/topic,17659.msg303361.html#msg303361)

We'll be starting soon...

Rich: It's a new... JAGUAR!!!

Austin: Just imagine that! A Jaguar XKR. Now, the price of the corn is 83. We'll take this over here to the freezer. The price of the freezer has three numbers in it.

(http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad228/Austin7298/Price1_zps0e487e05.png) (http://s938.photobucket.com/user/Austin7298/media/Price1_zps0e487e05.png.html)

The last two numbers are 2 and 5. Is the first number 8 or 3 from the price of the corn?

This HAS to be an 8.
Title: Re: The Higgins Edition of Price is Right [Episode 5]: PG1
Post by: ShatterMySoul99 on May 21, 2013, 05:39:54 PM
Yeah, there is no way that this is a 3... so I will definitely go with the 8 here.

And it's 8! You win the freezer, and we'll take the price of it over here to the jetski.

In this price there are four numbers.

YES!!!

It's a 5!!!

Now let's go over to the Jaguar! As I said, it's more than $100,000.

And look at that, $110 and 25. Is the fourth number the 9, the 5, the 6 or the 7 from the price of the jetski. If you're right, you'll be driving this beautiful car home tonight. Just tell me the right number.

Title: Re: The Higgins Edition of Price is Right [Episode 5]: PG2
Post by: William on May 24, 2013, 01:31:46 AM
The game happened in chat earlier and here are the results. I gave him 1 minute of time but I'm dividing that time in half here when I post it so it's like the actual game.

Austin: Let's show the audience the price of the golf clubs.

(http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad228/Austin7298/Price1_zpscadcbfbc.png) (http://s938.photobucket.com/user/Austin7298/media/Price1_zpscadcbfbc.png.html)

Alright, they see it. The clock will start with your first bid.

DarkShockBro: 1000, 900, 800, 700, 750, 775, 780, 790, 795, 799.

Austin: Right! $799. You won that in 16 seconds so you have 14 left to bid on the iPad. If you get this one you'll get all three prizes and $5000. Let's show the audience the price.

(http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad228/Austin7298/Price2_zpsaff92fc0.png) (http://s938.photobucket.com/user/Austin7298/media/Price2_zpsaff92fc0.png.html)

Clock will start with your first bid.

DarkShockBro: 699, 799, 829.

Austin: That's it! $829!

8 seconds to spare! Excellent job! We're having a great start! Hopefully we'll give away more, after this!

Rich: Austin, that's going to be pathfinder20! COME ON DOWN! YOU'RE the next contestant on THE PRICE IS RIGHT!

Austin: In the prize copy? Ok. There was an error in the prize copy, it's the Glastron GT160, not the GB160. Sorry about that...

Well first of all Austin I'm doing mighty fine thank you. I'm going to strategize here and start with just one Zyrtec.
Title: Re: The Higgins Edition of Price is Right [Episode 5]: PG3
Post by: William on May 29, 2013, 01:24:34 AM
Austin: One Zyrtec, each one is $9.99...

I thought that Zyrtec was going to be expensive there. Anyways I'll try 2 Scopes! (cover eyes)  :-? :embarassed:
Title: Re: The Higgins Edition of Price is Right [Episode 5]: PG3

Austin: Two Scopes, they are $3.89 each, how much is two?

(http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad228/Austin7298/Price3_zps3650fde8.png) (http://s938.photobucket.com/user/Austin7298/media/Price3_zps3650fde8.png.html)

$7.78, what's the total?

(http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad228/Austin7298/register3_zps47e945ce.png) (http://s938.photobucket.com/user/Austin7298/media/register3_zps47e945ce.png.html)

$17.77. Now since you covered your eyes, I'm not sure you understand this, you're trying to get to $35, not $21. I'm just saying this because it seems you thought that last purchase might have put you over. But you're trying to get between $33.50 and $35.00 to win, and have $17.23 to go, so what do you want to buy next?
Title: Re: The Higgins Edition of Price is Right [Episode 5]: PG3

I do understand it. I just thought the Scope was expensive as well. It turns out it wasn't. Anyways let's try 2 Red Bulls.
Title: Re: The Higgins Edition of Price is Right [Episode 5]: PG3
Post by: William on May 29, 2013, 05:40:18 PM
Austin: Ok, two Red Bulls. Each one is $7.49, how much is two?

(http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad228/Austin7298/register4_zps43c748d6.png) (http://s938.photobucket.com/user/Austin7298/media/register4_zps43c748d6.png.html)

$14.98, and the total is...

(http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad228/Austin7298/register5_zpsefb2d883.png) (http://s938.photobucket.com/user/Austin7298/media/register5_zpsefb2d883.png.html)

$32.75. Now I said if you think your next purchase might put you over, you can quit and keep the $1000. You're getting really close, so you may want to think about it. Or you can go on and you might still get it, what do you want to do?

Austin: Here goes Pathfinder. In his first spin it looks like you're going to get... 55. That's a nasty number; but he's spinning again. Let's see what he gets this time... looking for that 45. And he may get it... LOOK AT THIS... HE GOT IT!!

(http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad228/Austin7298/10000_zpsc7a1fd96.png) (http://s938.photobucket.com/user/Austin7298/media/10000_zpsc7a1fd96.png.html)

Pathfinder got his dollar, and now, 88JRFAN, you can't beat him but you can tie him. Spin it.

He's not going to get a dollar with one spin. 30, spin again. Looking for that 70, and there it goes but I don't think it will get around again. 35. 65 isn't enough. Thank you.

Holein1, you gave me the number 21. It needs to be 1-20 before we can go on.

Come back over here Pathfinder. Remember, if you hit the 5 or 15, you'll win $50,000 more, but if you hit the $1.00, you'll win $100,000 more!!

One number, please.

Each of you will have a fabulous Showcase to bid on, and the one of you that is closer to the retail price of your own Showcase will win it. So in honor of the number 4, we're giving you...

And finally, we couldn't get through this without mentioning Austin's favorite car, the Chevrolet Camaro...

Glad you enjoyed it.

This is probably my last one. I'm going into semi-retirement for now. I may decide to do another one in the future, but for now I'm on a long vacation.

...However, you know how much I'd hate to quit right after a Double Overbid. :)

Gah, what a bummer!  I had originally thought about $85K range... but as I kept looking over the prizes, and thinking that since this was an MDS that I probably needed to go higher, I added $10K.... and over I went.   :-(

Either way, I had a great time, you run an awesome show (and I wish I was REALLY getting that Jaguar!), and I am sad to hear about your semi-retirement.  If you ever do another one in the future, you bet I will be there.
