I mean, wow. Just wow.

If I’m not mistaken, I believe $6 is the closest nonzero difference in the Carey era. Just an overall fantastic bid.

I like how they modified Accelerator to make it fit on Price, even though it felt like an alternate version of Spelling Bee. The GPs were really easy to place in order.

I would say That's Too Much was difficult since the correct choice was the 3rd one, but given how much the first choice was it wasn't as difficult.

I'm surprised there wasn't more difference between the Florida and Utah trips in Do the Math. Pretty easy decision to go minus, with Florida being further away.

1/2 Off being played 6th was definitely a surprise.

What a bid by Brittany!

Accelerator is 2-0 on TPiR and is (so far) the only Let's Make a Deal game won on Price.

Epic DSW!

3 Strikes was played on LMaD today, with a slight twist: https://youtu.be/sTCPNGZf0sk

Honestly, back in S44 I thought of the same Spelling Bee comp.

In retrospect and more thought, it's closer to Hole in One or Two than it is Spelling Bee. Only thing in common are the bailout option and the C-A-R part.

Today's show was nice, especially with the Accelerator win.

Shopping Spree almost felt like grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory. By pure relative size, it felt like the range set should have been the clear pick, but it's never that straightforward on stage.

The first half of the show seemed to fly by, but then I realized that they had to accommodate Accelerator. Not necessarily bad, but it felt like that segment took forever.

Speaking of which, Accelerator, along with Gold Rush (which will probably show up later this week), seemed to be the easiest to turn into a somewhat original pricing game.

It might just be me and my odd mind, but the moment Brittany started saying "twenty-three thousand, four", I thought for sure she was going to end with 56. THAT would have been crazy. Would that have been met with as much backlash as the previous perfect bid?

The second showcase was also a nice touch as a way to continue the mash up theme. Overall, I'm liking how this week is shaping up.

Shopping Spree: that should've been won. May have been a classic case of nerves getting to the contestant.

That's Too Much: When I saw the first price was almost $23,000, I figured the 3rd one would be correct, as that's the earliest choice that is ever right these days.

Accelerator: I agree this works very well on the show as long as they make the GPs relatively easy like they did today. I know it won't happen, but I could see this being a regular game in the rotation with some small tweaks.

SC: DSW out of nowhere!!

It might just be me and my odd mind, but the moment Brittany started saying "twenty-three thousand, four", I thought for sure she was going to end with 56. THAT would have been crazy. Would that have been met with as much backlash as the previous perfect bid?

I don't think so, because a) AFAIK, Ted Slauson wasn't in the audience (he was well-known to the producers before the perfect bid) and b) It's feasible to dumb luck into a bid of all consecutive digits.

Agree. Agree again. Once more, I agree. :)

Amazing(!) DSW today, though I wish Drew would have done a better job with the reveal. I felt that it didn’t match the moment. And as we move though another TPIR/LMAD mashup week, I also wish we could have seen Bob Barker appear on the latter show and Monty Hall walk through the big doors on the former.

It would be impossible for Monty Hall to appear because he died on 9-30-17.

Well really, it was a combination of Hole in One of Two's pricing portion and Spelling Bee's bailout and C-A-R element.

3 Strikes was played on LMaD today, with a slight twist: https://youtu.be/sTCPNGZf0sk
I thought it was odd that the contestant was guaranteed $2,000 if she didn't give up any cash to remove a strike from the bag. I thought the money would be a bailout and would go down with each strike. She was clearly thinking about the $2,000 and not the car.

And as we move though another TPIR/LMAD mashup week, I also wish we could have seen Bob Barker appear on the latter show and Monty Hall walk through the big doors on the former.
Unfortunately it was reported I believe last year that Bob would no longer make public appearances because of his health and the amount of time it took him to get ready for his last appearance. I suppose video call could be an option if set up for him, but I wouldn't count on that either.

Accelerator: I apparently mixed up the yogurt and the Planters.  Oh well.  It was a nice win for this game in the second Mash Up era.

That's Too Much: THAT'S TOO FAR!!!!!  I did the same mistake Julie did.  Ugh.

Half Off: The setup was difficult SP wise.  I bombed the first set, thinking the Mandoline Set was half off.  I made the same mistake Brittany did on the oil diffuser.  The third SPs was the only set that was easy.  As for the box pickings, Brittany picked 6 and I picked 12.  UGH.  At least Brittany had the right idea though picking a single digit box.  I don't know what I was thinking though...

Nowhere close, since people would understand why she bid such a number.

I've been mildly disappointed they've played the exact same Deal games with the exact same rules as 4 years ago while Deal is branching out into Dice & 3X, but I guess there's a limited number of options.

Yes, I know. It was a wish. I would have enjoyed seeing the long-time hosts make appearances on each other’s respective shows. Making entrances and playing some games, as Drew and Wayne are doing this week.

On today's Let's Make a Deal, Wayne seemed shocked that the contestant was so adamant about holding on to the $2,000. Meanwhile, from my recliner, I was yelling at her to keep the money -- even if she gave back all $2,000 up front, she only had a 37.5% chance of winning. I assume that she wasn't thinking about what the odds actually were, but I applaud her for that decision.

Thank you for explaining this because, earlier today, I was lamenting her for not going for it while discussing with a friend. I thought she had a far better chance of winning the car (or at least getting to the final 50:50 pull) without having to price the car/risk putting numbers back in the bag and redrawing them for not placing them correctly. I thought this was far too easy to win a car comparing it to how the game is normally played on Price. Surprised it's not that much different.

Although, I didn't completely agree with the reasoning of using the $2K to help buy a new car when you're probably not getting a car as nice as that for $2K down (or less after taxes). But maybe she didn't need one that nice.

Quite a coincidence that Brittany picked box #6, and missed her showcase by  $6!

Of course, it was preempted unfortunately due to a press conference in NYC concerning Covid-19.

I know these updates ARE necessary, but STILL... couldn't they preempt a DOB for once?

Sacrificing $2,000 for a larger than 1-in-3 chance at a 20k+ car is a bet I would take. Call me risk-loving, but the math checks out.

You're dealt the hand you're given; it isn't fair to just assume "37.5%" and say that it isn't much easier than what is played on Price, so keeping the $2,000 is the correct thing to do.

Instead, it's more fair to compare the game to all the different outcomes and see what happens. I was originally going to post my calculations into here, but since no one wants a 20 minute lecture on probability, here is the slimmed-down version.

Yes, unfortunate that they didn't put the special games in the earlier parts of the show for most of them so we'd at least get to see those.

Also unfortunate that those doing this conference haven't realized that most (if not all, the three in this area all do) stations already have a news program for the Noon hour which would be a more sensible time to do the conference and also better for those who are still working to be able to take a lunch break and tune in live if they wish via TV or online means.

Much easier to do that on a state briefing basis, since unlike a national one, the entire state operates in the same time zone.

What’s unfortunate is that some of you can’t seem to realize that a worldwide pandemic is more important than seeing someone win both showcases.

There can be a balance between covering the daily updates on the pandemic. There happens to be a slot of programming meant for daily news throughout the day at noon, 5pm, and 11pm that can go over a lot of the lesser urgent updates.

And, I'm on the side of most preemptions, so I'm not like most going "Who cares? *rabble**rabble**rabble*" Especially when the preemptions go over new executive orders from governors and the President. The information does need to be disseminated.

And, just to add an interesting twist to this - the same station that broke in for the Governor all 5 days this week during Price is Right did NOT show his briefing today live at the same time period, choosing instead to continuing airing their Educational programming and offering the conference via stream on their website.

It is just what thepriceis_j says, no one is saying not to show the information, just choose a better time to do so, given all the existing news blocks available and even breaking into other filmed programming where what is being shown is a rerun (like many of the other daytime talk type programs), rather than one of the few shows still offering new episodes as they have them available.  Part of that keeping people mentally healthy, getting to watch some fun stuff in between all the important news being shown.

Do you honestly believe that the mayors/governors/presidents give a rat’s about what programs are being shown at what times?  Because if you think they are sitting there in their offices, going “gee, well, we’ll preempt Young and Restless today because we want to make sure people see who wins the showcase,” you really need to check your entitlement.

Folks, the ban threat still stands.  Keep bitching about the press conferences, and someone will be out of here until the next professional basketball game.

Also, I really don't like what they did to 3 Strikes.  I totally get why they did it -- it makes sense for LMaD -- but I still don't like it.  I'm also not crazy about them playing it for a regular car.

Let me just clarify that I was referring to the decision of the affiliates/networks on what they choose to cover. I've joked about it before, but of course mayors, governors, and the President aren't looking at the TV schedule to decide when to hold their press conferences. Although, based on recent tweets, maybe the President is indeed looking.

And again, when I refer to that, I understand that all of the information is important and most of it is immediately important. My governor issued a stay-at-home order that preempted the end of LMAD and half of Price and I had *no* problem with that because that's information I *definitely* needed to know as soon as possible.

That $23,456 price in the showcase is so interesting. Has a showcase ever been priced 2-3-4-5-6 before? Are the show’s producers able to manuipulate the price of trips down to the dollar in order for a price like this to show up for the total of the showcase? At the time, I was surprised that the contestant didn’t bid $23,456 after starting out 2-3-4-5-. I even thought $23,456 would be my bid for this showcase after hearing hers never thinking it would actually be correct.
