...Oh, and Steve White still sucks donkey balls.
This, above all else, is the one consistency S39 maintained. That, and Renty also sucks donkey balls. :P
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

Well, as others have mentioned, what a nice hidden gem this was! A correct bailout followed by five straight wins, wow. If I were them, even with Steve White announcing, I find a way to air this show much earlier than on a 6 month delay.

There was a LOT going on in Line 'em Up that we didn't see. If you rewatch the 2nd try, you'll notice it cuts to a shot of her having 19k as the price and then 3 seconds later back to 18k. Clearly there was some confusion going on there. Grocery was also noticeably cut way down. This was a bit of an aggressive lineup, but contestants taking too long is still a problem. It also was about the only problem today - somehow DOBs matter less on shows like these.

The second showcase showdown was the most painfully close I've seen the wheel get to a dollar without actually getting there in awhile.

Timings:
Spelling Bee (6) - 4:12
One Right Price (3.5) - 3:02
Grocery Game (5) - 4:44
Pick A Number (3.5) - 2:55
Line 'em Up (5.5) - 5:21
Safe Crackers (4.5) - 3:30
Total (28): 23:44

A very good episode today, but why delay it for six and a half months?

Once again, Steve White is annoying and obviously dubbed in at times. To be fair, his comment on "the new and improved Drew Carey" at least made some logistical sense -- after all, Drew did slim down noticeably. (Certainly better than "hip-hop sensation Drew Carey"...)

...Oh, and Steve White still sucks donkey balls.
This, above all else, is the one consistency S39 maintained. That, and Renty also sucks donkey balls. :P
I do not think you would get any argument from either. You most certainly will not get any disagreement from me.

Oddly enough, looking at the repeat schedule shows two Davis, two Lawrence, one Sherwood, four White (not counting this show), a whole bunch of Gray...and absolutely no Roberto. Really, CBS? There were absolutely no worthwhile-to-repeat shows with J.D.?

(At least they're better than Wheel of Fortune, who insists on dubbing over their other tryouts this Summer with Jim Thornton.)
The above is my opinion and mine alone.

To answer your questions: yes, I am a guy and yes, I have a face. (I also have the occasional spurt of weirdness.)

I think the issue was figuring out a time to put in Steve White after establishing George Gray as the new announcer. Perhaps late August is a known time people won't be watching much and they can get away with a week of him. Make goods in general are scheduled late in the Priceless summer anyways.

And of course, GuyWithFace, the rerun schedule this season has been completely affected by the announcer. Quite a few bad shows have found their way into this year's mix unfortunately, and exceptions have been made only for holiday shows if I recall right. Very likely just a one season thing (unless George gets fired... but that's even more unlikely, I think).

Unless you'd rather Price do the same thing as Wheel so better shows pop up? Because the way Mike has used the announcer on-screen, that's impossible. ;) If your complaint is about announcers not getting good share time... well, I mean, these are the new announcers, that's kind of natural...

Wasn't there a dispute with a model that appeared a lot on the Roberto shows as well?

Spelling Bee:  Good thing Trent bailed!
1 Right Price, Pick A Number, Safe Crackers:  Nice win! :-)
Grocery Game:  I honestly thought Elizabeth was screwed after reaching $18.32.  Nicely done! :-)
Line Em Up:  I thought Janina was gonna botch it up big time on her second try.  Nice win! :-)
SCSDs:  Two $1.00s & a $10,000 win - great!
Showcases:  What a pity that such a good show had to end with a double overbid :-(

Great show overall, IMHO.

I am looking forward to Season 40.  I hope it's better than Season 39 was.

What a great show and it was SOOOOO good to see Bee. Regardless, I still don't like the rotation that the game is on....but maybe that is because I'm biased.

Drew actually did math in Grocery Game!? AMAZING!

Yeah I noticed that. I don't know that Drew would have let her do it though if she actually tried, kinda surprised he didn't say anything when it appeared she was gonna.
Drew doesn't say anything in Bonkers, Race Game, Switcheroo among other games in which people can make foolish mistakes like that. I think it is their game to lose if they aren't paying attention.

This was an absolutely wonderful lineup, I loved seeing Safe Crackers there; HOWEVER there could have been one thing done to make it the best show in the Mike era.....played Safe Crackers for a car. Besides cues, this is honestly the biggest gripe about Mike I have. 3 Car Shows aren't bad Mike, for goodness sake humor us.

And that was Season 39, which will be overshadowed by Season 40. Darn those numbers divisible by 10!

It was a nice show. I'd never heard White before, and, well... he seems awkward.

I thought a lot of contestants had screwed up, but then actually won.

I'll never like Pick A Number. They need to redesign it, so it is a lot more fun. Either that, or come up with two other quickies to ensure it gets played less often.

Ah, a Double-Overbid, the 12th one this season (I think). Don't get too happy on The Price is Right, folks. You will always jinx it.

So no perfect shows. I would say they were saving money for next season, but since they ended up overspending anyway, it didn't seem to work. =/

I didn't know that new August shows were not a common practice. I think they're a good idea. Maybe one a week.

This season's budget and next season's budget have nothing to do with one another.

The second showcase showdown was the most painfully close I've seen the wheel get to a dollar without actually getting there in awhile.

That was a heartbreaker, and total breath holder!  But yeah, all in all it was an excellent show.

A lossless show... AND two $1K wins on the wheel! It really is a shame that it had to end with a double overbid.

That show wasn't lossless because the car in spelling bee wasn't won.

That show wasn't lossless because the car in spelling bee wasn't won.

Per the FAQ, if the contestant takes the money in Spelling Bee it's considered a partial win. Therefore it could be considered a "lossless" show.
