Angela got rather lucky in the first bidding round... I think she meant to one-up Gloria, but misheard her. Good thing she did! :P

Recap is up.

Honestly, I'm surprised we didn't get any 420 bids today. :rollold:

Yay!  Somebody finally won Freeze Frame!

1 Right Price was supposed to be lost.  Good job on not falling for the cheap TV, Gloria!

What was Angela trying to pull during SCSD 1?

My showcase bids:
Carnival--$25,107
:frbs: --$30,107
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

After a week of really, really bad shows, this show was a nice change of pace.

Don't understand why people are still complaining about Drew's presentation of Switcheroo. He's been presenting it that way for 4 years now - give it a rest. Ain't. Gonna. Change.

Some believe that Drew should explicitly state the bailout option after the first attempt.  I don't know if any contestants thought they had to take the second turn, based on Drew's explanation, but stating the bailout would be a timesaver at the very least; there would be no need for an additional 30-second countdown if the contestant quits right there. This isn't a matter of Drew-bashing for the sake of Drew-bashing, it's a matter of making sure the game is properly explained to contestants.

We had this discussion three years ago, and I don't want to beat a dead horse here, but I just want to point this out.

We had this discussion three years ago every single time Switcheroo has been played in the past 3 1/2 years, and I don't want to beat a dead horse here, but I just want to point this out.

Fixed that for you.

I hate to be an arse about this, but I'd like to point out that Drew did state the bailout option for probably two-thirds of Season 36.  Sometime around April or May of 2008, he stopped doing it, maybe because he thought he had the rules down to a T and decided to simplify it as best as he could, I don't know exactly why, but I'll throw that guess out there.

Well, then that would be about one third, since Switcheroo wasn't played during the repeating lineups.

If someone isn't given the option to stop and has the car right at the end of their first turn and then changes it, that would be questionable at least. Has that happened since he started not offering the contestant the chance to stop?

Why is that questionable?  They obviously didn't think it was right anyway, so they swapped the number.

There was a playing in June or July 2008 where a contestant got three right (including the car) and some feel that because Drew didn't outright state the bailout option (which would have enticed the audience to tell her to quit or keep going), she felt compelled to make changes and as a result, lost the car.

Just as you say she felt compelled to make changes, she equally can be just as compelled to leave a number alone.  No sympathy to the contestants on this, and if they get up there just to move blocks around and not attempt to think of prices or logic, they deserve to lose.

Anyway, if someone bailsout there really is no SWITCHEROO, might as well call it BLOCK GAME.

Anyway, if someone bailsout there really is no SWITCHEROO, might as well call it BLOCK GAME.

But that decision--should I take the second turn or not, should I make the ol' Switcheroo or not--is part of the crux of the game. Plus, to me, it seems ridiculous to just start the clock for the second turn and have it count down for no reason, while the contestant doesn't want to change anything to begin with. It's awkward. It wouldn't take Drew five seconds to ask the contestant if he/she wants to quit or take the second turn. Either Drew doesn't really get the game (kind of like he doesn't seem to get Money Game, since he fails to even mention the money), he's too lazy to take the time to explain it properly, or he is just completely disinterested in the game.

And yes, I know saying all that won't change anything at all, but it's just how I feel about that.
