Alright show. Set up for 2/6 and we managed to add Pocket on the 2nd 5/17 conversion this season. I could swear she was thinking 23 at first though, which would have made it a bit less dramatic... :P

Half Off was set up too hard, with all three higher prices being right. It's amazing she got it to 4.

Bullseye being super easy with the pasta sauce was fine... why was it for 13k then? And a random watch? Can we realize a simple, 6k room is an equivalent, fine prize?

I didn't like ?Switch? at all. Just too close between prices, and I know everyone still feel for the all-motorcycles-must-be-higher-than-this-simple-home-gym trap, but that could have been done with a lower motorcycle and looked a lot better.

Gas Money was hard again with the extreme low, but that was still a poor playing. Janice's reaction indicated to me she had no idea on the Nissan Cube. I'm also wondering if they're assuming now Gassy will take a minute+ less due to these setups & trends, but god stop putting it 6th, now I pretty much know the result every single time...

What's up with the trip-heavy SCs suddenly? Come on.

Now that we're out of the 4/18-20 taping week, Drew is at least back to his normal. Yeah, he was too quiet on that Pocket reveal, but he isn't seriously goofing up anything anymore.

I fell for the $17,800 as a wrong price for the car in Gas Money (aka, Danger Price For A Car) because it didn't look like an obvious car price.

I miss 1/2 Off's SP's being set up with the philosophy of, "if it looks like it's 1/2 off, it is 1/2 off." That burger iron/grill is proof that they have thrown that philosophy out the window. We must really be in budget mode if we have to set up this portion of the game in such a fashion that even a LFaT wouldn't walk away with the extra bonus.

Pocket Change was great, except Drew could've sold it better. He had a great contestant to work with and didn't take the opportunity--and that reveal was the most monotone-sounding thing Drew has done since the perfect Showcase bid. Sell it, Drew!

I didn't see Gas Money. I left the room for about two minutes right after the game was being revealed and came back to a commercial on my screen. I can't comment on the contestant's gameplay, but it's disappointing that this game is being lost this quickly almost every time it's played (save for the last playing I saw, which was the one with the $7,000 bailout).

I thought today's show was fairly decent. It wasn't great, but it was decent.

Or, reverse Five Price Tags.

I've decided to grade the show based on GPA.
1/2 Off:

Not only the grill, but that tea set didn't look like $98. C
Coming or Going: Easy. But this game has a bit of a problem giving away sub-6 night trips. B
Pocket ¢hange: Any Pocket ¢hange win is awesome. A
Bullseye: Eh. Nice win though. B
Switch?:
I didn't like ?Switch? at all. Just too close between prices, and I know everyone still feel for the all-motorcycles-must-be-higher-than-this-simple-home-gym trap, but that could have been done with a lower motorcycle and looked a lot better.
Agreed. Not only that, but that contestant just rubbed me off the wrong way. D
Gas Money: Hard, but as said, not wipeout worthy. C
SCSD2: +1 point for the $1.00.
Showcases (Weighted x2): Fair bids, but like yesterday, way too many trips. C
Misc. (Weighted x2): Fine, Drew did well (finally out of that awful taping week). A

Average: 2.8 B

1/2 Off:  Too bad she didn't win; she did well with some tough items

Coming or Going:  Nice win!

Pocket Change:  Exciting playing with some bad envelope reveals...the final one was just awful.  I could barely see Drew and the contestant, let alone the card.

Bullseye:  Even though I think Mikel was confused (I think he thought he was playing Grocery Game), I'm glad he won.  He was a good contestant.

Switch?:  Tough setup!  The prices were way too close; it reminds me of some type of setup you would have seen 30 years ago.

Gas Money:  I had a strong feeling, before she selected it, that $17,800 was the car price.  I don't think she was thinking straight anyway.

Boring showcases...a two-prize SC1 and the most redundant showcase I've ever seen for SC2.  At least Mikel seemed genuinely excited.

1/2 Off:  Rats! :-(
Pocket Change, Bullseye:  Nice win! :-)
Gas Money:  How evil was that!

Not too bad an end to the week, IMHO.

Well, this show was far from perfect, but it was certainly a breath of fresh air at the end of the week. The Pocket win in particular was nice - it feels extremely rare lately that someone makes 3 mistakes and still pulls off the win. The lineup was enjoyable too, although I'm getting tired of Gas Money 6th. Drew was still acting a bit weird today in spots though (although revealing all the "sorry"s in Bullseye was a bit amusing). Great contestants like some we had today make a show good much better than guest stars.

The showcases have been very boring the past two days. Four more trips today? And I like an island vacation as much as the next person, but they were essentially offering the same type of trip three times in SC2. Not sure what's up there, but it'd be nice to see some actual "prizes" in them next week.

One good thing I have to say about George - he can manage to do something amusing (like reading the copy while on the trampoline) while keeping the fast  pace of the show intact - that's what makes it work. That and moderation of course.

Timings:
1/2 Off (5.5)- 4:54
Coming Or Going (3.5) - 2:55
Pocket Change (5) - 5:29
Bullseye (5)- 5:50
Switch? (3.5) - 2:49
Gas Money (5.5) - 3:32
Total (28): 25:29

No offense intended to the current staff, but George modeling a trampoline isn't quite as funny as Rod modeling one. :)

Bullseye is one of the easiest game on the show.  It does not need to be played for $13,000 prize packages.

"Welcome back to The Price Is Right!  I have a huge bowtie!  George, who's next?"  Yeah, Drew, you go right along thinking that's funny.

Nine trips have been offered in the Showcase in two days.  That's ridiculous.

I think I'm gonna put some Bob in the VCR tonight.  On the off chance Drew or Mike is looking at this, I suggest you do the same.

A nice 3 for 6 today and it's a miracle pocket change was won and switch shoulda been won because it was an easy setup. I also woulda narrowed the boxes down to 4 in half off and picked number 14 and i woulda won gas money and bullseye as well.

-1/2 Off was just tough. She did the best she could. Oh well.
-My word Coming or Going was easy. Glad it was won.
-Pocket ¢hange was just awesome. She was a weird contestant but the fact that she got the .50¢ when she needed it was great.
-Bullseye was great. He was SOOO close with the sauce and the sauce had the bullseye. Great moment.
-Switch? was EVIL. 'Nough said.
-Gas Money 6th is such a giveaway to the result. In anycase, yeah, she was pretty clueless, but it is Gas Money.

Not a bad show overall, nice moments mixed in there. With this week passing, I'm thinking we'll see Triple Play next week.

"Welcome back to The Price Is Right!  I have a huge bowtie!  George, who's next?"  Yeah, Drew, you go right along thinking that's funny.

I thought that was what he said, but I wasn't sure.  I realize comedy is very subjective, but some of the things Drew (and now, George) thinks are funny really leave me baffled.

switch shoulda been won because it was an easy setup.

Huh?

I know we have pictures of the Pocket ¢hange envelopes in the Golden Gallery, but it was cool to see a closeup of them.  I noticed that on several of the envelopes, they have the image of the reverse of a Mercury Dime (Minted from 1916-1945) but the obverse of the current Roosevelt dime.  I noticed this because I am such a coin nut, and I thought it was cool.

The way Drew handled the final reveal in Pocket ¢hange was just abysmal.  The last envelope was the make-or-break moment for the game, should have been built up, and then the last card should have been whipped out to reveal a half (50¢), but Drew seemed like he wanted to move onto something else.
