cu's Price is Right: Episode Six
« on: April 12, 2013, 05:48:11 PM »
(Yes, this is Episode 6. The MDS doesn't count in the episode count. :) )

Last time, on our Million Dollar Spectacular, WooWho made us broke! After five straight losses, not only did he win his pricing game, but he won the million dollars to boot!

...that's about all that happened, so let's have a better show this time. We're back with another regular, normal episode, and we've got more fabulous prizes to give away! In addition, I will be debuting an original pricing game this time...and don't worry, it isn't as failtacular as my last attempt at creating a game.

Before we get started, as always, a quick rundown of the rules:

1. 24 hour time limit for EVERYTHING.  In the Row, that's 24 hours from the previous bid. Miss the deadline once and you’ll get a warning, miss it twice and you’ll be ejected from the show. Pricing games will be handled based on the circumstances.  If you know ahead of time you will be away for an extended period of time, please let me know via a PM and we'll work something out.

2. Audience participation is encouraged, but please don't help out during the One-Bids. Anywhere else is fine.

3. I will PM you when I call you down. Otherwise, you will have to pay attention to this thread!

4. All contestants must meet eligibility guidelines as stated in the official Rules of the Host Your Own section.

Of course, since I'm me, and since picking at random is boring, time for auditions! Simply answer the following question when you sign up:

If you were tasked with creating a new pricing game, what would it be, and how does it work?

As always, the question is optional. However, those who answer will be considered first, and the ones with the most creative and humorous answers will be chosen first. If you want to win a spot on the show, you should make me laugh so hard I forget why the person before you was funny!

Or, if questions aren't your cup of tea, you can win a First Four Pass for Episode 7! If you would like to win the First Four Pass for the next show, simply tell me how much you think the value of the Showcases for this episode will be. The one of you who is closest, within $500 above or below, will win the pass, and will get an automatic First Four spot in the next show! It's that simple!

The show will begin Monday, April 15th at noon Eastern. Good luck, and have fun!

People are tired of the f**kery and drama, but if we'd actually talk to each other sometimes instead of a whole bunch of private conversations with other people, it'd go a long way to perhaps fixing the problems most seem to see in the site.

In line.  No fluff or guesses.

Sometimes I allow hosts to not provide a script, if they have street-cred.  So this one I can play.

I'll would love to join.

I'd make the Give Away $100,000 Game. Aw man, Pay the Rent's already here.  :-)

In that case, if I had to make a new and fun game for the show, I would rip off It's in the Bag with It's in the Box

It would be played for $10,000. There are five boxes, each with a grocery item price tag on it. On a seperate counter, there is a grocery item.

The contestant is told a replica of the product is in the box that has the right price of the product.
There is a small hole on the top of each box. If they put there hand it the right box, they pull out the product and win. If wrong the first time, they can try again, but only for $5,000.

But the fun is when they are wrong, random objects like whipped cream, honey, syrup and cotton candy (Sorry, I'm hungry :-)) are waiting for them. The contestant's reaction to putting their hands in honey will make for good TV and bring up the ratings.

There's my idea, hope you like it.

I've always liked the idea of a combination of Squeeze Play & a user concept "Jam". There would be a price such as $9,520 which would be wrong. A contestant would be required to remove one digit and put it in another spot. In this case, the contestant chooses $9,502, which is wrong. The right price is $9,250.

Anyways, I'm in.

My pricing game idea may be dangerous.

Tameshigiri (Test-Cutting):

Played for anything but a car.  The player is given a samurai sword and has three rolled-up tatami mats in front of him, each with a four-digit price on it.  He must make a clean cut on the mat that is the correct price of the prize to win it.  If he wins, he not only wins the prize but the amount in cash shown on the bit of the mat that is cut off.  (Due to the way the mats are set up, cutting a section of the mat that shows the whole price is impossible.

And before the game begins, a trained swordsman will demonstrate how to cut the mat.

I'm in.

My game would be called "Free Beer!" The premise of which is simple. There is a 6 pack of beer on the turntable, and you can drink as much as you want, for free! And if you feel like it, you can get more! Until you throw up, get a hangover, or both. Then the staff will escort you out.

Oh...pricing game. Not drinking game. Ok.

This game would be called "Trip Planner," which is for an interesting opportunity. Your chance to win a trip anywhere in the world! Sort of. You are given a certain airline that departs from Los Angeles, and a certain price range that your flight must fall into. Other than that, you can choose any city you'd like in the world. If your trip is within the range, you win! This would test not only knowledge of trip prices at a specific level, but also knowledge in how certain airlines affect the prices of trips.

I will say that the combined value of these showcases will be $47,193.
Yeah...let's make this current shall we?

ill play my game would be called "Auto Race" similar to rat race but instead of rats it would be indycars around a full dollar sign race for 3 laps. Gameplay would be the same as far as earning a racecar and the outcome of the race. The 2 changes are that there are 6 cars starting also the contestant has to pick the qualifying spot on the starting grid thus they could have their 3 cars starting 1,2,3 or possibly 4,5,6. There could also be the possibility that the cars could be knocked out of the race in turn 1 thus ending the game or a mechanical failure. These cars are as followed

Yellow Car: 1980s Pennzoil Penske driven by Rick Mears
Black Car: Late 1990s Texaco/Havoline driven by Michael Andretti
Camo Car: 2009-current National Guard driven by JR Hildebrand
Green Car: 2012-current GoDaddy.Com driven by James Hinchcliffe
Blue Car: 2012-current RC cola driven by Marco Andretti
Red Car: 1977 Indy 500 winner driven by AJ Foyt

Ah, cu, I see you're making another show. Well, sure, I'm definitely in!

I'll answer both.

My pricing game is known as Spot the Sound!

Basically, you have ten prizes, and they could be anything, cribs, sofas, mugs of apple cider, a lifetime supply of gravy, a colonoscopy, and each one of them has a sound. You touch the prize you think contains the DING sound. If you get a BUZZ sound, you must drink a shot of Moonshine. If you pass out, you lose, and the host escorts your drunken ass out of Studio 33. Forever. But, if you get the DING, before you pass out, you win all the random prizes plus $1,111, straight from the legendary cash bowl from a random item up for bids Temptation. Because it's my game, and therefore I can.

And, as for the combined showcase value, I'll guess $66,666. Because you would do that.  :-D

I'm so in on this!  :-D I would tell you the PG I would invent but sadly there's no humor to it! Lol. So with that I'll just guess the combine showcase value which I say is $50,462.

So in for a cu show.

Instead of making a new pricing game, replace all the current games with slot machines. Hopefully WooWho's luck will run out and that million bucks will trickle back into the budget.

(NOTE: I will be extremely busy with the musical I'm in for the next week. I will do my best to keep within deadlines if called, but I wouldn't stress out if I'm missing deadlines by a couple hours.)

I need to make up for my GOAT in the MDS.  /in

My original pricing game is Conveyor Belt.  (as originally posted in OILF on 9/9/09)

Prize: Medium ($3,000-$10,000), can be played for a car as well. How It Works: A contestant is presented with a prize, and the four digits in the price of it are on a "conveyor belt", in that, they can rearrange the price any way they wish, without rearranging the digits themselves. If they figure out the price, they win!Prop: Looks like a scaled back version of the Aces High prop from "The Big Spin"EXAMPLE GAME: Joe is playing for a Living Room Group (Ashley, ARP $4,062)The digits are arranged 2 4 0 6, and he can then select a price of either $2,406, $6,240, $624 (read as 0624), or the right price of $4,062 by moving the numbers along the conveyor belt. He picks $4,062 and wins!

PROP:
{CONVEYOR BELT}O        $    2 4 0 6||       ==  ====  ==[]              6 0 4 2

(the bit on the left is a Leever)

Hm, this should be quite fun... :-)

*signs up, writes N/A in the "Guess or Fluff?" box*

(Advance warning: I have an appointment with my doctor on Monday morning.)
The above is my opinion and mine alone.

To answer your questions: yes, I am a guy and yes, I have a face. (I also have the occasional spurt of weirdness.)

You know, reading over some of these...I think we all could use a lesson on how to answer my questions. :)

So here it is. Serious answers, games that would work on the show, I don't like. Think of something outlandish. Something wild. Something the real show would never actually do.

If any of you would like to change your answer, now is the time to do so. :)
