Even with a Grand win, there was barely any energy on this show. I have to blame the poor & lazy lineup for that.
S5x... the show's stabilized into something decent now, I guess...

We not only had a Car Game Shutout this week (airing-wise anyway), we fittingly ended the week w/ a DOB. At least they gave away a lot of cash in today's episode.

Even though we got a win on the newly-refurbished Grand Game, there was a car game washout this week. That's kinda sad seeing that OA and TTM weren't that hard to begin with, much less the rest of the lineup.

And adding insult to injury, there was a DOB.

In the end, it looks like M. Bison or, in this case, M. Richards got what he wanted.

Well, I guess there's no way that the rest of the month can get any worse. Then again..............................

Pretty decent show today, nice to see another winner on the "new" Grand. I honestly thought One Away was 100% Won, so I was shocked to see the Car was $18,946 and not $18,924.

It was also nice to see another Dollar tie, and Drew handled that Showdown really well.

/Adam, I believe Showcase #2 Was $27,699. I might be mistaken however.

Why such pessimism? This was a decent show even without any Cars being won.

Okay, I admit it...........It was decent, and we almost had a triple dollar win on the 2nd SCSD, which I thought would've been cool.

And another special rolls on with little fanfare. This was at least a pretty decent show though, with very fair setups all around for a special, and it was nice to see Grand get won again. However, Drew was quite off and on autopilot for most of the show (SD2 excluded) so there wasn't a ton of excitement today except in that aforementioned showdown. OA and TTM both have a bad reputation around here for being hard but both were set up much easier than they frequently are today. But -744 on the first try and then stopping after just a $500 jump sealed our fate on both of those.

Timings:
Grand Game (5) - 4:50
Squeeze Play (3.5) - 3:24
One Away (6) - 5:15
One Right Price (3.5) - 2:53
That's Too Much (4) - 3:23
Cliff Hangers (4.5) - 5:14
Total (26.5): 24:59

The second Showcase Showdown was quite entertaining. That $11,000 win might not taste as sweet as a spot in the Showcase, but, it's still pretty sweet! Definitely the highlight of the show.

Grand Game looked to be pretty tricky... the Vernors and the ice cream could have just as easily been less than $3.00 as the soap ultimately was, so it was nice to see the $10,000 win get pulled out there.

Nice win on Squeeze Play... thought we might be building to an unlikely perfect show with all the good momentum on the tricky setups.

Then we get to One Away. Highly unlikely that the price was going to end with two 4s, but, with the hard car game set-ups this week, I wouldn't have been terribly surprised if it was correct. I would have changed the two fours to 2 and 6 and still would have lost.

My original instinct would have to been to go with the pool table as having the 1 Right Price... my instinct was that a lot of big-screen TVs wouldn't run for $3,000+, until I remembered that was a 3D model. There's your higher price.

That's Too Much! continues to aggravate and ensures we have a shut-out on the car game losses this week. No way would I have stopped at anything less than $16,000 either.

Cliff Hangers is always fun, but, only $35 for that cosmetics bag... when the preceding prize was $30? I would have guessed at least $40.

Even though there was the double overbid, the fun of that $11,000 tie-breaker in the Showdown was still reeling, so, it didn't sap too much of the energy away.

Decent show for a special, but, the mentality crops up again that if they're going to do a special show, why aren't they setting up for some easy wins or some better games? They could have done Cliff Hangers for the car and played something else instead of That's Too Much!... being a special show with more advertising for it than a regular show, why not play Double Cross seeing as it's a newer game and it'd be a good way to expose a (hopefully) bigger audience to something new on the show? At least the $10,000 in Grand Game and $11,000 on the wheel ensured some decent cash got paid out today.

Nice to finally see a win on the refurbished Grand Game board! :-)  Nice wins on Squeeze Play, Double Prices, and Cliff Hangers, and SCSD#2 was good too.

Too bad both of the car games were lost.  I knew a Car Game Shut-out was inevitable as soon as I saw That's Too Much.  I hope you're happy, Mike Richards!

Other than that & the double overbid, not too bad overall, IMHO.

Nice cash wins in Grand and the Wheel today, but Nicholas was the real winner today.

I clearly didn't read enough into this to realize that (a) it's high school graduates only, and (b) half the audience is parents, which is ridiculous, considering they have little to do with the demographic the show is supposed to be saluting. Why not bring in college graduates and high school graduates who are 18, and ditch the parents?

A good example of "writing on the wall". Even I knew that was gonna be imminent when TTM came to play.

A good example of "writing on the wall". Even I knew that was gonna be imminent when That's Too Much came to play. Now if Pocket Change or Money Game was played instead of TTM, then maybe it would prevent that, but I'll asking for too tall of a order for that.
I guess I messed that up and that other add-on was supposed to be on my other reply. But still...........

An okay show, helped in part by the Grand Game win and SCSD2, and hindered significantly by odd choices in car games leading to losses (had the One Away team gone $18,724 for a starting price, they would have had a very good chance, and there actually was a pretty big jump in TTM! had that team paid attention to the hundreds digit) and the DOB.

We did nearly have a triple Bonus Spinoff, though, which would have been fun. It was still fun to see one of those semi-rare Bonus Spinoffs where one contestant goes on to the showcase while the other leaves the stage with $10K. As it turned out, the latter got the better part of that deal.
