Hey John, if you don't mind, I'm just curious what are the options as far as the souvenir photos go? Are there different price ranges or just one price for a photo?

Someone had goofed up the shot on a calldown (can't remember which one though).

I suppose if that's the only reason they have to be doing reshoots of the calldowns, it's not as bad as making someone do it again because they didn't react the way they wanted them to.

As far as today's show goes, Drew had some really fine moments for the LFATs in the audience, such as handling Joanne's early on-stage in a Barker-like fashion, the El Cheapo reference in Money Game AND he referred to the .10 the .05 as "the dime and the nickel" - I can't remember the last time he made reference to the fact that the values on the wheel were in cents. Good show, by Drew.

I was glad to see the two best contestants (in my view) make it all the way to the showcase. Joanne seemed like a dear and it's too bad she didn't win the Mustang, but, at least she made it to the end. I thought Steven had blown it for sure in Check-Out with those Ramen noodles, but, to not only pull the win out and be only one penny away is pretty remarkable! Spinning a dollar on the wheel (two shows into the new season and two dollar spinners already!) was a nice bonus, to boot.

So, a good show today, despite the bad luck in some of the games. I think, on the whole, I enjoyed it more than the season premiere.

On today's episode of "Where's Bully?":

A Mustang in More or Less?  It's always LESS!

Check-Out... yeah.  As Bob Barker famously said, "I hope you realize we are in the presence of a miracle."

El Cheapo strikes again!

My showcase bids:
Boat--$27,707
49th & 50th--$20,707 :wsd:
Well, this week was supposed to be a return to normalcy, but that's clearly not allowed.  Since you feel there is no need for this week's FPG to continue, I feel there is no need to continue as an FPG host or a G-R.net member.  Since most people are so desperate to push me out of here, why delay it?  I would have preferred that everybody publicly admitted it rather than string me along for the last two days, but it is what it is.  I am hereby resigning as FPG host and moderator, effective immediately.  whammy007 is the new permanent host.  No R-rated rant or airing of grievances from me.  Just a polite "goodbye for good".

Plinko: $100 isn't much in Plinko. Bummer of a way to start the show.

Pushover: Setup to be won. Too bad. The outdoor kitchen island was not necessarily my favorite prize but it was decent enough.

More or Less: While it's unfortunate that the Ford Mustang wasn't won this playing actually showed one of the biggest reasons I like More or Less: The opportunity to win something even if the game isn't won. It also shows why I prefer progressive games to bailout games. Today's contestant may not have won the Ford Mustang she made out fairly well in winning the first 3 prizes. The fridge was a nice prize even I don't care for the shoes. I would have lost the Mustang as well as I was thinking it would be around $25000.

1 Right Price: I was sure it was the TV. Washer and dryer sets tend to be between $2000 and $3000 so the $3100 looked too expensive. And remember that the TV was 70. Some bigger TVs can still be more expensive. Pricing TVs is tough because of wild brand variation but I think this was easily winnable by recognizing that $3100 was too expensive for the washer and dryer. Those were great prizes too. The royal blue Washer and dryer looked really good and a 70 inch TV speaks for itself.

Check Out: This win was totally awesome baby! When it came down to the last item I thought he was going to win but I was stunned he came within a penny. While it was a really exciting win I'm still trying to make sense of it because I didn't sense the gameplay was really that good. That New Zeland trip looked nice and the Lord of the Rings tour was an interesting side to that.

Money Game: My favorite game makes it's first appearance of season 43! I'm glad they still have the season number on the board. It's a shame the Chevy Cruise wasn't won but I did enjoy hearing Drew's el cheapo reference. I would have won this easily today since I know the el cheapo rule and also know the season number is usually wrong.

Contestants row prizes: Very good. A smartphone, computer, and camera are exactly the types of prizes I'd want to win if I were a contestant. And the San Diego trip and car accessories were nice too.

Showcases: Not the best day for showcases but I prefer the Hawaii showcase since I'm not a boat person.

Lineup: Very good. Plinko isn't a good lead off hitter because it's enjoyability is too results dependent. On the other hand Money Game is 1 of the best games on the show and is a great closer. More or Less and Check Out are 2 of the best games on the show and Pushover is 1 of our best 1 prize games. With today's lineup I'd have flip flopped the slotting and played 1 Right Price first and Plinko fourth. Plinko is best as a middle of the game played third or fourth.

Overall: This was another good show that would have been great with 1 more win, especially a car win. With a very good lineup, very good prizes, and that exciting Check Out win, this was a good 2 for 6 show.

Adjustments that should be made to pricing games to make them fairer: Secret X: Add a 3rd SP so that perfect pricing ensures a win. 1/2 Off: Add a 4th set of SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Master Key: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win. Rat Race: Add 2 more SPs so that perfect pricing ensures a win.

The following pricing games should be retired because there's no way or no easy way to make them fair: Spelling Bee, Plinko, Punch a Bunch, Pass the Buck, Let em Roll, 3 Strikes.

The following retired pricing games should be revived: $uper $aver, Give or Keep, Buy or Sell, Hurdles, Bump, Penny Ante, Credit Card, On the Spot, Split Decision, Add em Up, Walk of Fame, Barker's Markers, Magic Number.

I don't mean to sound like a total Debbie Downer here but to me this 'season premiere week' doesn't feel special at all. It feels like it's right where we left off last season. I'm still waiting for a super spectacular showcase with a Lexus or something exciting but I feel like I'm gonna be waiting a long time.

A 1 cent win on Check-Out?! Are you freaking kidding me?! Unbelievable! I bet if we had another exacta on our hands, the whole place would've exploded like it did when Pauline won with the exacta on Check-Out on one of the 4th of July Shows (can't remember what year that was) I bet the whole place went absolutely nuts with that 1 cent win on Check-out!!!!! Nice JOB STEVE!!!!!!!!!

Not necessarily. It could've been less than $1K more than $24K. Just not today.

Drew was at the top of his game today, and it's always fun when he mentions El Cheapo.
I disagree. He didn't even mention the money in Money Game. In that respect at least, I'd say he's regressed.

I would have also won in Check-Out with my total of $20.66, but not in such fantastic fashion as Steven did.

Hey John, if you don't mind, I'm just curious what are the options as far as the souvenir photos go? Are there different price ranges or just one price for a photo?

That was the only drawback.  Unlike in 2010--where we had a choice to use Cliff Hangers, Plinko, or the Big Wheel as backgrounds--the Big Wheel was the sole background this time around.  Otherwise, being in the line had a MUCH better experience than in previous years with the exception of 2007.

Today was certainly a good show, but what was the deal with the displays in contestant's row?  The numbers were short. Don't they usually reach the top of the monitors?  I didn't notice this on the premiere.

Contestants' Row wasn't centered correctly today -- all the bids were showing up farther down on the displays than they usually do.  I wonder how something like that happens -- you wouldn't think that'd be a setting that would need to be messed with all that often.

That was definitely one of the worst successful playings of Check-Out I've ever seen.  It brought back memories of Mba.  (And yes, Frank, I brought that up partly to annoy you. :-D)

I love that Drew's begun invoking El Cheapo during Money Game.

Oh, and for what it's worth, I would have won Push Over.

I'd comment on what happened before IUFB #3, but Drew told me not to mention it.

Dude, unless you actually told them what your account name here is, I can't imagine this is something you'd be able to get in trouble for.

Steven made some good guesses in Check-out today.  I haven't seen someone get that close in a while.

Just how closely were you paying attention during this game? :P

As Bob would ask,

"Roger, how many times has Check Out been won with only a penny difference?"  Also, does anyone know how many EXACTO Check-Out wins have occurred in the game's history?

I'm fairly certain that magic#92 is referring to the contestant Joanne, who, like many before her, came on up to the stage instead of heading to contestant's row when called down. Drew made mention of this by saying "nobody will be talking about this" or something to that effect.
