That was a solid show even though there were no car game victories (I knew that Lauren was in trouble as soon as she picked the floss for Hole in One).  But at least the Check Game was won! Hooray! A 4/6 is a happy way to kick off the week.

I wonder what everyone's reaction would've been if Melissa took off a thousand and bid $22,333 instead. That probably would've been the first time in the show's history where a contestant's bid was the exact reverse of the ARP.

THE BAD NEWS:

L7: If they were hoping for a quick loss with the addition of that horrible price on the Prius, "Mission Accomplished."

Hi1O2: Too much muscle on both putts from Lauren. Perhaps if she picked the juice first, the gravy second, and then the floss...

THE GOOD NEWS:

OWP: Many of us were just grasping at straws from that setup...Still, a good win by Curtis.

Shell Game: Perfecto by Erin! Too bad she didn't get the bonus, but it was still good work.

BG: Piece of cake for Blake (That rhymed!)!

Check Game: Good job from Sherry putting down $2400...And she also won her SC!

THE BOTTOM LINE:

Pretty good show to start off June. At least I now know that Montgomery sailboats are just as pricey as a Sanibel.

Alright, I'm going to try to make a conscious effort to post in the recaps everyday this week.

This is a great place to start. I loved this show. I thought things were going in an alternate direction with the L7/OWP start, but boy did I turn out being wrong.

An absolutely excellent playing of Shell Game. When she got that breakfast maker, it was clear that she was in good standing to get the bonus. Then we see that the last two SPs were pretty much softballs. It's a shame she couldn't get the bonus, but it's always nice to see it happen every once in a while.

I knew that they had some quickies in the show to accommodate long games, but I didn't think they'd put both Shell and Hole in One! What a treat! Wayo complained of Hole in One being played too much this season and I say balderdash! This is the most times its been played since Season 36 when they pulled it out 10 times and I love it. It's a great game and I'm happy that this season they've decided to break its once a month rotation. They always do this. They pick a game and play it more than they usually do. Then it goes back to its normal rotation next season.

Unfortunate that the contestant wasn't that good at pricing or putting. Granted, I probably wouldn't have made it to the first line, but I certainly would've done better here (easy for me to say, I know). She had a shot with that first hard putt bouncing around, but it just wasn't meant to be. I like that high jib shot of the contestant putting. It's so much better than what they were doing, and still did during this playing. I hope we see that jib shot more, if they aren't going to bring back the original shot.

Man, when Check Game came back no one was winning, but it seems as time as gone on people have started to catch on. This is its 6th win of the season. That's pretty nice to see. I have to imagine Drew's explanation has helped somewhat. Now if only his explanation could help Magic # without it being set up so wide open.

Too bad that Erin wasn't able to get the cash prize in Shell Game.  Drew did practically everything right - bring it up at the start of the fourth chip and then try to rapidly move away from it when lost.  It's not good to dwell too much on the fact that she missed out on the money because she still won the game.

Wayo complained of Hole in One being played too much this season and I say balderdash! This is the most times its been played since Season 36 when they pulled it out 10 times and I love it.

Who? :P

Here's some interesting information - the average car price in S36 for Hole was $20,345 and this season so far is $16,700 (not a single car has been above $20k).

The average line putted from, with 6 being the closest, in S36 was 4.2. Nobody putted from the furthest line.  This season, the average line so far is 1.3. 7 out of the 9 contestants have putted from the furthest line.

It's still 5-4 this season, so try as they might they still can't get the game lost.  The cheap car price also does not hide as well when Drew asks George to repeat it.

This metric seems meaningless without the average car price from each season.

@DJTorgo, my thoughts exactly. The richards era continues to use cars that do not go above  the $20K range, it seems to limit the instances where this happens to the big storied games (like Golden Road, Three Strikes, etc) where that price point can be used (up and above $20k).

Most manufacturers have had their products offered more than one time, they have not used the top trim levels of value oriented cars at all, it has usually been the base level or the middle step in the ladder.

It seems they don't want to use Kia Soul !'s, Chevy Cruze LTZ's, Kia K900's (hope this one gets used next season on dream car week), Dodge Journey R/T's, etc. The show feels comfortable at the base and secondary trim levels of a car to keep the value of what's given away there low.
