Ron Popeil, infomercial icon whose company Ronco was known for such products as Chop-O-Matic, Pocket Fisherman, Dial-O-Matic, Mr. Microphone, the Showtime Rotisserie, the Popeil Automatic Pasta Maker, and more that he often pitched himself, passed away Wednesday at the age of 86.

For those that have paid attention the poker at some point within the past 18 years may have heard of Layne Flack / Back-to-Back Flack

Actor Rick Aiello, son of Danny Aiello, died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 65.

Apparently it appears that both of Danny Aiello's sons died of Pancreatic cancer.  Oh man.

Dusty Hill, bassist for ZZ Top, passed away in his sleep overnight last night into today at the age of 72. https://variety.com/2021/music/news/zz-top-bassist-dusty-hill-dead-dies-1235029656/

Not a great year for rock legends.  Personally, it's been tough.  While it doesn't wreak yours truly, we've recently lost a lot of people within communities that I "follow" (music, wrestling, poker).  Life is short; every second counts.

I have a personal friend in the Aiello family. It's a very long story, but yes, the Aiellos, especially the late Danny Aiello, was a supporter of the Lustgarten Foundation, who is pancreatic cancer focused. As I mentioned when Alex Trebek was diagnosed, the Lustgarten Foundation is incredibly worth a little of your money if you wish to donate.

The Lone Ranger & Breaking Bad's Saginaw Grant has died.  He was 85

Also from the world of Poker, that community loses another in Noel Furlong

Not as known as a lot of other poker professionals, but the 83-year old bracelet winner achieved a feat that only about a half handful of people have earned (really less than that), winning the WSOP Main Event in 1999.  It was his only World Series of Poker title, but he has had some success on tour, including nearly winning it a decade prior.

Tough losing two former champions in back-to-back months, though Furlong pretty much lived a complete life.

Markie Post has died.

https://deadline.com/2021/08/markie-post-dead-night-court-actress-was-70-1234811055/

Very sad year for Night Court fans, with Markie Post and Charles Robinson passing away a month within each other. If the reboot on NBC gets past the pilot stage hopefully there will be a dedication to them.

For game show fans, Markie was on the production team of Split Second and the 1976 Double Dare as well as a dealer on Jim Perry's Card Sharks. Among her frequent game show apperances, she was also a celebrity contestant on Jeopardy! Rest in peace to one of my celebrity crushes.
