Pretty easy Bargain Game setup.

Indeed a “spectacular” win in One Away! Great decision making.

Stack The Deck! One of my favorite games! Three free picks earned! I agreed with all of the contestant’s number choices; I thought it was really smart to go with the third, fourth, and then second digits. And I also selected “9” for the end; I figured the “4” was a fake-out for the second digit. But pain! Suffering!! Heartbreaking loss. He played the game so well.

I noticed Jonathan double-checking the Showcase differences at the end. :-)  Yep, it was pretty close.

Bargain Game: Nice Win IIRC
One Away: I AM SO STUNNED I thought this was lost but somehow the contestant figured out the solution
Plinko: $1500 was just because of Bad luck with the 0s
Freeze Frame: Long time no see AAAAAAAAAND you were lost
One Wrong Price: Welp I knew that TV was wrong and hey a nice round price too
Stack the Deck: It was a toss up no matter if he chose either the 2nd or 5th number

2-3-4 was good when the game first premiered under Roger because the last digits were usually 0, 5, or 9.

Today, the best choices are 3-4-5 because the cars almost never end in 0, 5, or 9 anymore. Anyone who watches the show close enough would know NEVER to pick 9 as the last digit in Stack or most other games. Now of only more people guessed 9 for the last digit in Lucky Seven...

On the show aired 5/12/21, the actual price of the auto offered in Stack was $21,795. On the show aired 4/7/21, the auto in Stack was $18,039. "NEVER" pick 9 as the last digit?

That was a bummer ending to Stack the Deck. Otherwise, it was an okay day.

Recap posted.

Good news is they've stepped up offering better cars in Stack, the bad news is he picked the 2nd digit free. 24 v. 25 is no guarantee either, but better than a negbait 9

I always felt that Stack the Deck was a concept that worked, and that the constant use of cheap cars and hard setups ruined the game.

Today showed that the strength of the game is to play for more expensive cars and make the pricing portion easier.  The car still isn't a gimme, but it's more exciting to see someone get 3 free digits - even if they lose.  And for a high dollar car, I'm okay with that.

Assuming a little common sense:
If he picks the middle 3 digits (like he did), the first digit is obviously a 2, and the last digit is 4, 8, or 9.  There's no logic or reasoning to that last digit.  It's a 33% chance of winning.
If he picks the last 3 digits, the first digit is still obviously a 2, and the 2nd digit is 4, 5, or 9.  One could safely deduce that the car is not likely to be $29K, leaving 4 or 5 as the second digit.   That's a 50/50 chance of winning the car.

Smart money was to take the final 3 digits in this particular case.

One could reason, like I did, that the 4 was a fake-out number for the second digit, leaving 8 or 9 for the last. The contestant might have thought the same.

I agree in Stack the Deck he should have picked 3-4-5. Filling in those digits would have left likely combos for the first two digits of $24k or $25k (no way it would have been $29k), so essentially a 50-50 shot. Filling in the second digit left a 1-out-of-3 guess for that last digit. Sometimes you just have to play the odds.

In other words, pretty much what Ton80 said.  :)

Rooted for a Stack win like I never have before. Rare (but not first) appearance of a Crosstrek, surely Evelyn wanted a loss here and she got it. Personally I would have taken the second digit. A choice between 4 and 5 for the thousands is much harder than 4, 8 or 9 for the ones, especially since, regarding the latter, 9 is bait and 4 seemed like a trap only for the second number.

Live for the present.  Embrace the future.  Our favorite game show is still producing excellent, high quality, exciting, hour-long* shows every weekday throughout its traditional season window.  It’s as good as it’s been in a long, long time.  If the 1980s were the ‘good ole days’ for the Barker era, so is RIGHT NOW for the Carey era.  Don’t worry about what the future holds.  It will play out in due time.  Enjoy what we have right in front of us in the meantime!
