Wow, a Showcase ARP that's $2021, and some great bidding by both contestants. In those pre-DSW rule days, $X,0XX endings certainly were more common. Still, it's another great way to show the evolution of Money Game. At this point, the yellow on a black background car symbols were in place on the board, but were still orange in the price area  before changing to yellow to match the symbols on the board. The dollar sign has been enlarged to its normal size, but the audience lights are still being dimmed, and I find it neat how that effect illuminates the Turntable chase lights.

That long buzz for an overbid in Contestant's Row must not have lasted long, and is quite harsh.

And yes, there's that same $789 Amana Fridge that Ted Slauson may have seen as mentioned in Perfect Bid (but it's not from one of the two Clock Game playings that are also featured in it).

I'm going to guess by no later than the May 1973 tapings, that they started to use the short multi-buzz for overbids in Contestants' Row, it was in use by June 5, 1973 (#0402D).

Even so today's tenor buzzer can be quite harsh... it's been 30 years now since the current sound has been used.
