Yeeeeah, I don’t exactly care. Doesn’t change the fact that I found their answers cringeworthy as hell.
Overly smug?

Well, Ben Chan is back, and what a showing! $60,000 today alone. I think it's been a while since we've gone that high. A triple-get Final Jeopardy! clue certainly helped (even I got that one).

And now Ben Chan is the first champion to start with six straight runaway games. While several champions have had longer streaks, none of those streaks began on their first show.

Obviously, he won't be able to finish his run with a perfect runaway game streak...unless he pulls a Cliff Clavin. :oldlol:

And so Ben Chan's reign suddenly ends...and in controversy.

His Final Jeopardy! response was "Beatrice & Benedict" when the correct spelling for the second name is "Benedick" with a K on the end. It hurts, but there's still the rule about when spelling affects pronunciation.

The controversy is being kept alive by so-called fans who keep showing the same ignorance for the rules. The news sites showing the same disregard for the judges don’t help matters.

It’s like blaming an umpire for striking out. You accomplish nothing, you look stupid doing it, but it’s the easiest thing to do.

and remember, a similar incident during a Kids Week game ended up being what caused Kids Week to no longer be a thing (due to parents being more invested than the kids, who probably won't see much of that money they win BECAUSE they're kids)

also: i wonder how many of the people complaining actually watch the show vs cherry-picked clips (edited to add this)

A few social media trolls and click-bait sham “news” articles don’t mean actual controversy. His answer was unambiguously wrong.

It shouldn't, but it did. I know his response was incorrect. It happens though, and I believe this is the first time such an error took down a near-superchamp (so far, I don't believe it has knocked out a true 10+ day champ).

yea, at least it's JUST a misspelling and not something akin to the quiz show scandals that made Merv even think of the idea that BECAME Jeopardy as we know it today

The game show show and her coming back made me revisit it.I will say that the Mayim is better this time. what I meant the first time is no matter what gender you are a requirement for a hosting job of a quiz show is to pronounce words (and preferably not sound pitchy, or as Maggie Speak said "easy to listen too") and for some reason they chose a lot of guest host that do not pronounce stuff (she was the best of the female hosts I will admit) and I mean English words (I understand if mispronounces of other languages happen) and honestly I am not even really talking about 'word misspronunciation' I just had problems finding the correct words and the second quote was added in 'modifications'. like I said she is doing better then in the celebrity or reunion tournament but how she is inconsistent is kind of scary since we do not know she will sound bad next season. I would love to hear of anyone feelings about the diction in general. (to be fair though Ken Jennings was not the miracle of diction either when he first came, even though I love him as a host.) Mike Richards was really the only one that sounded like a host (except he blew it in other ways and I am really only going by voice only finding out about him after 'his appearance'.) and I hate to think The possibility of everyone's sounding less polished was to make him sound good, I hope what I just said was ridiculous I really do. can they not find anyone that gone to broadcasting school or anything. maybe Austin Creed from this segment ( might begin considered saving this is a official sanctioned video. maybe they should have had him be a guest host at some point. of course if I was to choose a host that would probably be closest to Alex it might possibly be Dwyane Wade from the cube. but even like I said female host the The chase is a female also the host of Press your luck and they are fine without a complaint box a story high. actually after all of this Elizabeth from  Press your Luck would be great. She is amazing at reading and at the speed that can work for the show.

Various news stories (such as this one from Variety) are gaining traction in the past few days concerning a possible boycott of the upcoming Tournament of Champions for next season, which brought up a post from the Jeopardy subreddit on Reddit from 13-day champion Ray Lalonde (the original poster of the post on Reddit who is an IATSE member who works in scenic design), leading a group of qualified contestants from this past season in solidarity with the striking WGA writers who have decided not to participate in the upcoming annual Tournament of Champions. This solidary with the writers follows reports from late last week that the show may recycle old clues if the ongoing WGA strike remains unresolved by the time taping begins for next season.

Much as a uniform annual TOC would be a net positive, it would be worse if not impossible to attempt it if, in fact, few would show up. More harm than good for the show. So be it..move on to recycled content and new shows with regular gameplay.

technically they do allow 'phonetic spelling'. some thing I know since I am also bad in spelling. I am personally on the side of them allowing it. I probably would have been more passionate if this was not go 2 for him (since he came back already) and go 3 would be awkward. when I watch the performance that's how it sounded. (and this was chosen by the teacher for University)

ABC's fall schedule has gone through some adjustments as Season 2 of Celebrity Jeopardy (now hosted by Ken Jennings and with already written clues from before the Writer's Guild of America strike began.) will premiere on Wednesday, September 27 at 8 pm, followed by Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and The $100,000 Pyramid.
