Saw on Reddit discussion that he's the perfect pick because he's so perfectly vanilla, non-controversial, and nondescript that the older demographic won't be swayed one way or the other by him.

As someone who doesn't watch Wheel of Fortune, I don't really care who replaces Pat. As someone who's had a longstanding dislike for Ryan Seacrest, all I can say is good luck to him. I'm not missing anything.

Can I ask what’s so bad about him? I know he doesn’t set the world on fire, I don’t ever recall cracking up at something he said, but he at least seems to me a reliable and professional host.

To be fair, I have to problem with Ryan Seacrest, and IMO, you & whomever have every right to dislike the guy.  In fact, one of my good friends who "hates" the guy made a joke linked to how he was done with WOF but never really followed the show anyway.  It made for a good laugh.

I do see how Ryan can be "cheesy" at times or the like.  However, I think Seacrest is great because he actually has done well for a long time.  Most important, there are a lot of bad people in the show business, including those that didn't appear that way.  Plus, there are some respective people that have made one mistake or more to where their careers end because of it.  I haven't really heard of anything Ryan has done.  No noticeable baggage from the guy

In all seriousness, Ryan Seacrest is a good, safe choice. I believe he'll do well in the role. It was best for Wheel to name someone as soon as they could to avoid what happened with Jeopardy and their hosting situation after Alex died.

I do wonder since they made the decision already and there's a full season to come plus another season of Celebrity Wheel, is it possible that Ryan does a bit of guest hosting this coming season? It would let him get his feet wet and ease the transition until he takes over full time in season 42.

I agree I was hoping to listen to everyone say who is 'the best' for multiple months. but seriously Ryan is a decent host, slightly different attitude pat. (almost would be better for jeopardy) I am going to have to check to see if he was a guest host in jeopardy or not. (forgive me they were over 10) by that I mean Ryan is more 'up beat' and has a slightly different 'tempo' than either of the two previous (I think there might of been one other host but I have not seen any of his). these are just observations not negative traits. (look at the quote listed on TV trough to see what I mean. (there some some of them are weird)

One thing that did make me wonder at the announcement was as one of the articles pointed out he has a lot of commitments. but then I had to remind myself that they actually on my film around 30 days of stuff a year. it would be cool if that means they will have we wheel be even more exciting for new years. (or how they are going to spin that depending on the station)

I will say back in 'Buy a vowel' someone found a clip from back around 2010 (top of the head) with pat mentioning him as a possible replacement. (after a blunder of some sort) Still I would have thought they would have let everything move a little before choosing. The one that mention Mario Lopez (https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/mario-lopez-short-list-replace-180147428.html) entered new questions in my head there were not in there initially not to mention Maggie did seem like a likely choice. anyhow good luck for Seacrest.
