Hello,
I’m from the tiny island of Guernsey and just discovered that some Guernsey Cows were given away as a prize on a show in 1957 I think. Does anyone know if footage of this exists online as I’d love to see it, here is all I know:
"An estimated audience of over 300,000 persons saw and heard about registered Golden Guernsey milk on Thursday evening, July 24. That was when a cow and three calves from Deep Lake Farm, Lakeville, Conn., were given away on "The Price is Right," top-rated NBC network television show.
The information about the Guernseys used on the show, which was read on the air by Bill Cullen, said: "Well, growing kids need milk, which will create no problem for you when we deliver this bonus...Mr. Frattarola, you are now the proud owner of this magnificent family of registered Guernseys. A cow and three calves from the famous Deep Lake Farm, in Lakeville, Connecticut. These fine Guernseys from Deep Lake Farm will provide you with a continuous supply of the world's finest golden Guernsey milk. Congratulations!""
