I know you all are clamoring for results, so let's get them out of the way. The way I'll do it is run down the lineup, giving a play by play of where everyone scored, along with my thoughts about each game. Then we'll crown a winner, closing thoughts, all the usual pomp that comes with finals. Here we go:
Range Game - Pikachu732001, 2/12
Range Game is such an unpredictable game as to when it shows that it's hard to put any confidence down on it, let alone 6. Good call there.
2 for the Price of 1 - thepriceis_J, 2/2
2 for 1 has been showing up a lot when you least expect it. It had to show some time, but cash shows threw off that whole rotation. JJ clocked that now was the time for 241 "filler".
Let 'em Roll - Pikachu732001 (1/3), Flerbert419 (1/5), 22FJB (1/6), thepriceis_J (2/10)
This was on the early third, and I'm glad we were able to get everyone on the board. Shame that everyone had it for a loss, but good for our contestant for harnessing that luck.
Side by Side - thepriceis_J (2/12), 22FJB (4/8)
This was also on the third but people had less confidence on it. Probably did not help that it went back-to-back Fridays. Congrats to FJ for nailing it.
Race Game - Pikachu732001, thepriceis_J, Flerbert419 (all 1/4), 22FJB (4/12)
This is where the field really splits. Everyone had it because again, 3rd, but only FJB had it for a loss, and 5th as well.
Master Key - SANDBAG
X really felt like it was going to be today, and having Key over X and a regular car was a surprise. It's like 241 in that it was kinda due, but cash was throwing everything off. It taped far out enough that it does make me wonder if these were here because they realized that they needed another playing for these games after the cash shows.
So yeah, the game kinda ended after the 5th game, but the stakes were close enough that 1st place was not a sure thing.
Sorry Flerb that none of your risks worked out, but Range and 241 did help keep Pikachu and JJ competitive.
In fact, all it came down to was one result. If one game had gone the other way, then we'd be crowning a different person.
But your winner of the 2024-25 FPG playoffs is...
...
22FJB!
If the momentum had run just a little longer throughout the show, it would've been JJ crown and it always stings a little when you get that close. But it was a very exciting conclusion to our season and I'm glad that there was drama and surprises and great picks. You all were truly a worthy top 4 and you should all give yourself a big round of applause.
And that's all she wrote! I don't know what the future holds for the game, I'm always scared of all the tinkering going on with the schedule and if we don't know how wacky the schedule will get that could make the game a lot tougher/unfeasible.
But we've got all summer to think about that, and we'll probably hold a couple scrimmages in the next couple weeks before we let you out of school. This upcoming Friday will be a scrimmage, the last regular show of the season.
I cannot thank you all enough from the bottom of my heart. To all the regulars, you truly keep this going and even when the schedule gets weird, you keep taking time out of your day to play this silly little game and it really means a lot.
For all those that even played this game once or twice, thank you as well. I appreciate and the love and support even if you've only played previous to this season or maybe once or twice. It's always fun seeing what people come up with whether it's a home run or a gutterball.
And that'll do it for this season. Thank you all once again for traversing the woods with me, hopefully we can do this again soon.
dprice did play as well, he would've only scored 2/3, so no big difference there.
