The 2025 College Football Season got off to a rather tremendous start with Ohio State surviving against Texas to start their championship defense. Well, there were some games in the two days that preceded that Saturday. Actually the weekend before had games that counted (the so-called Week Zero).
So after legendary Coach Lee Corso chose the headgear for the last time (same as the one he selected for the first time), everything really got going. Big wins from Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee and LSU on Saturday, but I can't say the same for Alabama, Texas, and Clemson. Sunday and Monday saw a couple games. Well, Sunday was decent unlike Monday. Miami survives over Notre Dame, while TCU more than escapes against North Carolina. Things looked crisp & decent for Bill Belichick's debut and UNC, and then it really didn't.
As is the saying, it's only one week. We don't know how UNC or even TCU will perform this season. IIRC, the final game of Week One had Florida State pummeling Pittsburgh, also as a road team. Turns out within their undefeated year they did that to everybody else (except SEC West teams of course).
A similar playoff format from 2024 occurs this season. There are some changes but it's still 12 teams; Monday 01.19.26 is the date the National Championship Game is scheduled for.
I think this the last season the game I mentioned above airs exclusively on ESPN. Then it'll return back to network TV for the first time in over a decade & a half. However, with the new EPSN app, I guess anything is subject to change.
