Let's try to metagame this: maybe all fives would have survived to the last number to make it exciting? I guess technically with one dollar to burn and am in line with doing that, so I'll go 5.

1233: LiteBulb88, you survived the shoddy hotel wi-fi, but not this game. Thanks for playing and I truly hope you enjoyed yourself.

gamesurf and geniusinmath, I have a sneaking suspicion you guys will make it through this game.  I'll patiently wait for your guesses while I go to where the drama is.  ;-)

{stands next to TPIRfan#9821}

Now, 9821, probably not the ideal position to be in, far from it. But you have the chance to do something pretty dang incredible.

Dig deep and tell me what number is behind that door! Good luck!

So, I know I can't go 5 here. I know the trunk liner/cargo block option is $164; I remember it being a weird bundle option last season on the Jetta, and a Taos with literally only that option showed up today and that car ended in a -4. If you picked this option in particular, you're messing with the last digit.

Shame I don't know how much this stupid hood deflector costs.

I'm going to metagame harder here: maybe all 5s wins if you have the bonus dollar, but loses if you didn't nail Bonkers. I don't think you're mean enough to duplicate numbers, so I'm going to go 6 here.

1233: That's as good a guess as any in your position, 9821. Plus you've gone full meta trying to figure it out, gotta appreciate the drive.

Might be a bit anticlimatic for you other two, but enough talking.

OPEN...

THAT...

DOOR!!!

{fifth door opens}

{ding}
{groans from players}

Alas, that's a bummer, but you sure made it exciting.

Thanks for playing 9821, I hope you enjoyed yourself. And we'll talk about the dollar you owe me after the show.  :lol:

gamesurf and geniusinmath, well done for making it 3 wins from 3. Hopefully more wins await after this line break!

{walks group back to door 2}

1233: We've had some close calls go the wrong way in the first half, but them's the brakes.

Also, let's recognize the rarified air you two are breathing in right now.

You're only the 5th and 6th players to even make it to the second half of the gauntlet, quite a feat.

But we march on with the next prizes right behind this door. Mr. Announcer, if you would so kindly?

Announcer: Now, with the calendar flipping, I know the apple-picking, leaf pile, pumpkin spice season is basically here.

But we want you to take in and enjoy one last weekend of summer fun by giving you...

{door 2 opens}

...a pellet grill, a canoe and an electric bike!!

First, this XL wood pellet grill has over 900 square inches of cooking area, uses smart technology to maintain interal temperature and has a capacity of, no joke, 8 chickens, 16 rib racks or 8 pork butts!

Next, this 17 ft long canoe is construted of durable plastic and offers predictability, dryness and stability even when you want to knock your boating buddy into the lake!

And finally, this heavy-duty electric bike takes most of the exercise out of your biking, wielding a 1000W motor with fat tires, a max operating range of 62 miles and a zooming max speed of 28 miles per hour!

There you go, 123!!

1233: One more outdoor weekend before the Halloween decorations and apple cider take over.

Anyways, one of these prices is somehow wrong. It happens every time we drag this game out, so often that we call the game One Wrong Price.

If can point out where the bluff is amongest the three, you'll be one step closer to perfection.

I'll give you until sometime tomorrow afternoon. Best of luck!

{gamesurf and geniusinmath closely inspect the prizes}

So my first instinct was ”grill”… because earlier this week I just helped assemble a Traeger that my neighbor had bought from Sam’s Club for $700.

Obviously this doesn’t look like that model. I know the price of grills can vary a lot. I don’t know the price of canoes or E-bikes.

I also think I might be biased just because I think I know something about grills, and nothing about the other two. But if I had just gone to Sam’s Club for an ebike instead, maybe I’d be feeling differently.

Or I could do the meta thing and pick the canoe and try to guarantee that at least one of us makes it to game #5. I don’t have any real reason to not suspect the e-bike aside from the fact that it has a -95 ending and not a -99 one, but that doesn’t seem unusual.

Uh… I’ll take the canoe. $2,449 seems quite high. If these were both priced at $700ish I probably wouldn’t suspect a thing.

1233: gamesurf, falling on the sword and going against your instinct for the sake of content, quite the sacrifice. Hopefully it won't be for naught.

geniusinmath, you think we lied about the grill being $2,199. If it is anything other than that, you'll be moving on to the next game.

The actual price is...

...

{reveals price}

{buzz}
{groans}

...actually $2,199. I'm sorry that it had to end here, but I hope you had fun anyway!

{turns to gamesurf}

Well, you got the first half right in not picking the grill, now we need to hope that the canoe is anything other than $2,449. I'm rooting for you all the way.

What's the price!?!

...

{reveals price}

{buzz}
{even louder groans}

Aww, come on. Even with a 2/3 chance of someone making it through, it wasn't meant to be.

{reveals final price}

You mentioned the -95/-99 ending a little bit, but it wasn't enough for you to commit to it. I hope you enjoyed your time here, you gave it a good go.

{losing horns start in the studio}

7 hopefuls tried their luck at the Numbers studio, but all were unsuccessful in trying to go 6 for 6 on the day. A perfect pricing day doesn't come easy, that's for sure.

Until next time, sharpen your pricing skills and see you next time.

{studio lights turn off}

*****************************

*Quick Notes

- Thanks again for everyone who joined, you all were punctual, involved and made it a lot of fun to host!

- The plan was for an easy start with Bonkers, the Cliff/L7 duo to be the peak of difficulty, OWP as a toss up and the final two games to be easier rewarding anyone who made it there. Unfortunately, the toss up did us in. We'll eventually get another gauntlet champ.

- There definitely won't be another from me this year, but we'll see how next year looks

- Any & all feedback on games/suggestions are welcomed, can't improve without honest criticism (constructive, that is :lol:)
