Generally when it comes to
Car 54, Where Are You, the 1961–1963 show on NBC, they are looking for a police car at the fictional 53rd precinct in the Bronx (the real 53rd precinct was in Far Rockaway, Queens, the same borough I'm from, long merged with the 100th precinct). When it comes to the recap header, I've gone with a far different car 54. The Long Island Railroad and Pennsylvania Railroad's electric multiple-unit trains built from 1908–1937 and served railroads all the way until 1981 under Conrail were called the class MP54. Only 11 of these cars still exist in the world. Most are an hour away from me in Arkville, New York.
With Season 54 of
The Price is Right, I have decided to honour the Pennsylvania Railroad and Penn Central's MP54 rail cars by making the 54 out of the Pennsy symbol. The YEARS is made out of the god awful green and white scheme Penn Central used for their fonts on locomotives and railroad signs. The font is based on the long time predecessor to Helvetica, Akzidenz-Grotesk, created in 1898. Thanks again to WP788 for designing this as he does.
On a serious note, I'm happy to enter my 12th full time season as recapper on Golden-Road.net. Whilst I'm dealing with a personal tragedy right now as I write this, my commitment to this site is still relentless, even if certain parts of it drives me crazy and some things I do drive others crazy. I know people have said they appreciate my work, and sometimes maybe deep in depression that I don't often recognize my contribution to this site in a positive manner, but my love to keep this site going is still important. I hope people still enjoy the fact I commit 200 hours plus a year to this.
The 54th season of
The Price is Right debuts on Monday, September 22, 2025. With a new game coming, it is understandable that the recap that day will be delayed until we have a template built for this unknown game unless it's spoiled to us in advance. See you then.
